🕵️‍♂️ Transcript:

the reason the Mets were talking to Klay Holmes as a starter as a free agent and we’re ultimately willing to give him that chance to try to be a starting pitcher is that it’s kind of a win-win in how this works out for the team they were able to sign him at something between a reliever and starting pitcher price he’s going to stretch out try to go into that rotation and that’s no sure thing that that’s going to stick Holmes has one of the best sinkers in the game he has a really good slider really good stuff as we’ve seen over a couple of Allstar Seasons with the Yankees but not everyone in the game including some Yankees people believe that he’ll be able to hold the command and velocity that’s made him great if he were to pitch multiple Innings as a starting pitcher let’s say it works great for the Mets more Innings covered if it doesn’t now you have a setup Man Behind Edwin Diaz and somebody who really has thrived as a closer in a lot of cases but as the Yankees saw when they moved him out of that closer role late last season and made Luke Weaver the closer Holmes seemed to regain a little bit more command a little bit more presence a little bit more stuff and perhaps confident so either he’s that setup guy for the Mets or he’s a mid rotation starter it kind of works either way and that’s why the Mets are willing to try it
