this is a show hosted by Pier Maguire and Jimmy Murphy and I’m pretty sure most of y’all are familiar with the folks on the broadcast everybody kind of knows who Pier Maguire is can you believe it I can I’ll leave a link in the description of this clip posted by the Sick podcast Twitter account on November 26 2024 that garnered 20,000 views the New York Rangers have completely mishandled the Jacob trouba situation Pier McGuire said if you’re going to emasculate your captain and keep him on your team you may want to take the C off of him and give it to somebody else is this an idea that is actually worth talking about and why are we bringing it up here on the channel well mostly I feel like this is an interesting talking point because of most of the replies let’s go out there and read some of these here I’m not going to screenshot all of these but there are some interesting replies mostly from New York Rangers fans the first one from Eric says of course at the very least he should never have come back wearing that letter never if I’m Jacob trouba I would simply tell them to take the sea off my jersey and strip the captain C it’s it makes zero sense for this guy to be the captain when one foot is out the door even if it’s not him initiating it the bottom line is he’s underperformed and he has now a liability time to move on he doesn’t do anything to deserve that se in the first place trouba a masculate himself he’s a dirty POS and you also had yourselves this reply that was quote tweeted by fellow New York Rangers Fan and responsible gambling media writer Jim Beringer who said this the great Pier Maguire has spoken not that he needs validation from me or anyone else but he just said what we have all been saying the room is a problem because you didn’t trade or find a way to move on from a guy you didn’t want there # New York Rangers and so I wanted to gather the tale of the tape here just try to gather what a lot of Rangers fans are thinking about in regards to one Jacob trouba and his entire situation with the team thus far trouba 30 years old makinging 8 million bucks a year till the end of next season 2526 is at a whopping six points in 24 games this year he’s on Pace for 21 points which would be a decline from the prior Year’s worth of production he had had 30 point Seasons with the Rangers in the past he also had a 50-point year with the Winnipeg Jets before he was even a part of the Rangers organization but that feels like a generation ago either way Jacob trouba has not really been playing his best hockey and that is very evident especially when you think about the patterns when you consider how Jacob trouba has performed in the playoffs as of late and just the caliber of play that he brings to the table being so careless and lacad isical and not effective especially towards the latter parts of those playoff runs the guy became a total Turn Style in the series against the Florida Panthers and it was really ugly to watch especially for a guy who was supposed to be the captain he supposed to be the biggest leader on the team he would get turn St like that and then the trade rumor saying that he was going to get out of New York but then they did not end up trading him very ridiculous story with Jacob trouba but now it’s gotten to the point where you think is stripping him of the captaincy the right idea here Shake something up in the room give new inspiration to the Rangers guys a new voice to fight for more Direction with a move like this not to say that Jacob trouba is like the worst hockey player in the world obviously he’s making 8 million bucks a year for a reason maybe not a good reason but he’s still making money he’s still playing in the NHL he is good enough to be in the NHL it’s just with this Rangers team I mean there’s been a lot going wrong with them ever since they had themselves yet another third round appearance in last year’s playoff run there’s a severe lack of Direction with this team and whether or not Jacob trouba as the captain is really the right person you need to be at the top of that ship to lead them out of this misery remains to be seen But if we want to talk about guys that could bring some sort of a leadership Spark a bigger adjustment of attitude into the Rangers organization I wanted to show off this Twitter thread posted by nyr Louie he covers All Things New York Rangers and he’s got some social media accounts that you can see here on the screen he posted this yesterday that got 46,000 views and I wanted to respond to it right here who’s getting traded this week I can really see a JT Miller trade Drury is desperate and Vancouver is probably itching to move him at this point Riley Smith Ryan lingren Brenan othman and a 2025 first for JT Miller Vancouver gets a ton of cap relief trading a 30-year-old with six more years for two expiring deals a young kid with some potential and a potentially decent first plus they feel Smith and lingren can probably help them this year too which Miller is not helping them the Rangers get a player capable of being a 100 Point scorer plays with grit a little physical can be responsible defensively if engaged and a very desperate move to add to this core what do we think and the Tweet had 59,000 views now excuse me I reloaded the page it’s crazy a whole bunch of replies angrily most of them and a whole bunch of retweets and likes as well of course we had already spoken about the idea of a JT Miller trade to New York in the conversation a few days ago when we had spoken about how the Rangers apparently checked in on Vancouver and whether or not JT would be an available player on the market but this idea is total BS man like the way this analysis is being written out it’s so one-sided it’s like yeah Vancouver has to trade away this 100 Point caliber guy because he’s expensive and he’s old and we might not even be seeing good value out of him with that organization because he’s got that leave of absence so just get on all these extra guys whose contracts are expiring and get this young Prospect and everything’s okay right a lot of the replies are going out there and clowning here Vancouver fans commenting like this isn’t a 30-year-old on a crap deal who needed to step away from hockey this would be a pure desperation move at best for the Rangers and there are even more Angry replies to this tweet right here $8 million for a guy who can score a 100 points is not a bad deal and the dude is banged up and dealing with personal stuff acting like lingren and Smith are valuable pieces is crazy I’m very confused in what world is the JT Miller contract bad also stepping away from the team for personal reasons shouldn’t be considered a bad thing that I think is one of the bigger underlying issues with the way this tweet wordss everything out it’s like oh yeah Vancouver is not getting anything out of Miller because he’s not with the team they got to trade him like no that’s not what we’re going to base our opinions off of here another reply goes out there and says this Miller is as important to Vancouver as panarin is to you there is zero chance a deal like that goes down if there was a trade first of all JT only gets moved if he wants out there is zero desire to move him he is heart and soul secondly van couver believes they can win a cup so in the event of a deal it would take impact players coming back lafer and Schneider maybe they’d consider JT is a star player so you need to pay we’ll see nyr Louie says how about we give the Rangers Tyler Myers pier suor vilmer aren and a first for Adam Fox and that is kind of uh yeah that’s exactly what the idea is proposing here that’s the reverse psychology on you hey you want to talk about Ryan cropping the bet against the Devils Yesterday by the way I am so pissed off because in one of my eight fantasy leagues the guy that I’m playing off against has Jack Hughes teimo Myer Nico hisher douge Hamilton and yesper BR so I am down like 10 something points to eight in my fantasy matchup in this one League it’s one out of eight leagues so I’m kind of doing okay but I am doing severely terribly in this one particular instance because that guy has a whole whole bunch of just stuff loaded up on New Jersey and the Devils totally took it to the Rangers yesterday they stunk it up 51 victory for the devs and the Rangers looked so bad they are on a team at the brink of collapse here in terms of reputation in terms of what the fan response is their talent pool yeah great fantastic Talent Chris krider is a 50g goal guy sometimes mik aanad great player five goals in a game once can to do it again who knows are Tammy panan a premier 100o player Adam Fox a premier 7080 Point defenseman a Norris caliber guy eigor shashurin Jonathan Quick two of the best goenda istically individually in the league and the team stinks so yeah I can understand why there might be some desperation in store trade
