welcome in to the transfer portal tracker you will be hearing from us a lot I’m Ben Spicer but you’re not here to see me you’re here to see that guy on the other side of the screen Matt lay uh do it all Mr everything for warchant.com and he’s going to be talking transfer portal names uh people to know people to look out for here over these next couple weeks the transfer portal officially open today and uh Matt several FSU players have already entered their names in the portal and uh this is something an area that you’re expecting FSU and and frankly I think everyone at warchant.com you know all the FSU fans out there are expecting Florida State to be very active in the transfer portal coming up uh so like I said you’ll be seeing a lot of us but kind of whats the feel I know you’ve said it before on our live shows and on videos uh but are you still kind of expecting this to be uh an active area of pursuit over this next month for FSU yeah 100% uh very active but what I think we’re starting to see a little more of is you want more proven Commodities I think last year that was an issue right where you got guys who were definitely talented but they hadn’t really proved themselves AKA guys who went to Alabama and we thought oh well because Alabama recruited them they have to be good uh well that doesn’t always happen once you actually get on the field so I think the theme for this year is you’re going to want to see more guys who have proven themselves more guys who have actually done it at the right level um and you know you’re seeing those guys in my opinion this team’s going to be the Florida state golden knights and Florida State Corn Huskers the way with you’re getting all these I mean every UCF and every Nebraska kid Nebraska kid just on defense but any UC CF kid who enters the portal they’re going to have to look at Florida State just because their head coaches there now and that’s who recruited them that’s probably the big reason why they went to UCF in the first place uh whether or not on either side of the ball and now today this morning uh it looks like herand the UCF offensive line coach is going to join him too which is obviously gonna very be very helpful considering how bad Florida State’s offensive line was this past year uh and UCF was able to run the ball very well so their offensive line had to be fairly good and I think you’re already seeing on my like list of what we have to watch right now you’re already seeing a couple UCF offensive lineman there we mentioned those FSU players that have already entered their name into the portal again the transfer portal officially opens today I think it goes up to what December 28th is that right man I believe so I believe so then there’s all the bowl game stuff where you get a week after we’re we’re going into January so yeah you again you’ll be seeing a lot of us but looking at that list of players from FSU that have already announced they entering the transfer portal uh three entered yesterday on December 8th headlined by linebacker Omar Graham Jr safety Omari and Duke Cooper and also defensive lineman Toma wad duray defensive end Byron Turner and tight end Jackson West announced on December 6th you also have defensive end Dante Anderson and wide receiver Duce span who announced way back on November 29th obviously looking at that list the name who kind of jumps out is Omar Graham who made some strides late in the season Matt yeah it he definitely came up as the year went on at first no one really liked him last year people kind of got annoyed how much they were talking talking about him but uh he had an injury he was dealing with it was someone the FSU staff was was always high on they always thought he was going to be special but you can’t really blame a kid like that when his coach is getting fired and his coach is gone uh Randy Shannon was obviously his guy that’s the guy who was developing him and how he was doing so well uh towards the end of the season I mean that stop against amarian Hampton uh and amarian Hampton on UNCC on fourth and one was a really good one uh that’s the play that comes to mind when we think of Omar but in general again Randy Shannon leaving you kind of understand it uh Duke Cooper he just never panned out he came back he boomeranged he went to Colorado and he came back to Florida State uh but it it never really worked out he didn’t really see much of the field this year especially at safety with you moving Earl little back there and again his coach is gone so you kind of understand that with Adam Fuller not being there Adam Fuller did a lot of safeties work while Pat serain was DBS which is what you’re seeing now with FSU hiring a safeties coaching Cooper and leaving Pat rained there at DB’s coach uh Toma dooi again he looked really good in practice but didn’t play a lot understands why he’s going to transfer again coach gone a lot of these guys coach gone Jackson West is someone who just really never panned out was never never really played a whole lot uh Dante Anderson didn’t really play a whole lot du span again just didn’t work out and Coach gone so it’s that’s kind of the theme so far we haven’t really seen any big names happen yet uh I’m sure some will enter there’s always a surprise or two uh but again yeah you’re you understand a lot of these kids leaving currently let’s talk about some players who could potentially be coming into Florida State down the road we’ve talked about those that have exited but there’s already some confirmed visits uh that we want to get to and tell you about and I’ll give you the floor for that this is your this is your domain yeah so we’ll start off with uh Chason Johnson he uh from UCF DB like I said the Florida state golden knights and Corn Huskers uh he was a freshman uh 18 total tackles half half a tackle for loss two pass breakups and one kick blocked so I mean those are pretty good stats for a freshman uh again he’s actually expected to visit today on the first day of the portal being open so they we’re already getting off to a fast start another one Derrik Simmons who’s expected to visit this weekend offensive lineman from Western Carolina he was the socon all second team originally from Jacksonville so that’s what brings Florida State kind of into it that’s obviously for any Florida kid Florida state Florida Miami those are going to be the schools that they really pop like really stand out to them when they offer another name that I’m sure we’ll talk about in a second with that is Thomas castiano someone who Florida State originally recruited as a running back out of high school but remember he also went to UCF before Boston College so has that Gus miles on connection there which makes it a little bit more interesting but I still don’t think they’re really sold on anyone yet the quarterback position uh to go back to the other visits we were talking about Derek Simmons this weekend uh the main thing here again so cona team and 66 325 pounds that’s a big dude and that’s who you wanted your offensive tackle that’s who you want to start getting again proven Commodities you want guys who have really done it already at the second level or at this level and you mentioned uh that’s the perfect segue because you mentioned offensive linemen I think that’s a position uh that people are definitely going to want to hear about over these coming weeks you’ve got several others that you’ve spotlighted that kind of stand out they have certain ties or uh just guys that have entered the portal already that we’re kind of interested in and keeping an eye out on who are some of those guys on the interior on the offensive line and maybe even on the s of line as well that you’re kind of spotlighting and keeping an eye on yeah so to go off of guys that we know they offered transfer portal gets weird because you don’t really know for sure who they offered unless the kid posts it and not many really not many kids post it kids are a lot more quiet when it comes to the portal uh just because they’re doing their thing it’s all about the money and the development so uh they don’t talk as much like as they do as we’re getting recruited out of high school but for offensive lineman you got marcelus Marshall out of UCF who FSU offered again his offensive line coach is here now his run blocking grade on PFF isn’t great 52 that’s one that you kind of don’t really like to see but the pass blocking is 77.8 which is pretty good he played 782 snaps obviously at the Big 12 or playing in the Big 12 last year then you have Kaden kitler another UCF guy the starting center at UCF which the center position is definitely a big one of Need for Florida State you’re losing your starting center he’s out of Eligibility uh this year or after this year and Florida State always had trouble replacing him and Maurice Smith I always had trouble replacing him even though he was never great he never played amazing but it was always one Atkins even joked about it that he was like yeah I tried to replace him and he always stuck in it there uh so this Center is definitely position to need you’ve obviously had Auto and Rizzy behind there repping at that position but again if you can find a proven commodity that’s the theme for this portal cycle proven commodity if you can find that it’s going to do you wonders and he probably going to start and that’s what you’re looking at with Kaden kitler run blocking grad 63.6 pass blocking grade 77.3 he has already taken a visit to Mississippi State but now with heran officially in the fold for FSU expect that to be a visit soon is what I would say uh then you also have Josh Thompson from Northwestern uh played 230 snaps I assume due to injury this past year uh but it played 553 in 2023 so again and he his grades are pretty good and you’re going to keep seeing more offensive line and that’s going to be the main position that they’re going to want pay for offensive L and defensive L we’re still kind of seeing how everything develops and fluctuates over these next couple weeks obviously uh names will come and go we’ll learn more about that as the week goes on and of course we had the confirmed visits that you just talked about earlier on in the video but I’m curious before we sign off is there anyone else on the list that you may want to mention because there’s a name that stands out to me obviously uh I’m from Kentucky I’m a wal guy but uh Barry and brown Kentucky that’s kind of their deep threat and that’s an interesting name to me that I think has has drawn some interest from FSU and you know maybe the feelings reciprocated from Barry on as well yeah um as far as you know he’s one of the guys who hasn’t officially entered yet as of us recording this keep in mind a thousand people have already said they are entering and they all get to enter today which makes it so much fun but it’s just yeah he is one that has been reported I Believe by Pete noos that Florida State’s gonna have interest in uh we’ll see how clear that is mutual or not as we get into it h it’s one I need to do some more checking on but yeah that’s a big one again wide receiver another position where wasn’t great this past year and they still also still don’t have a wide receivers coach so I once you see that guy get hired you’re going to Pro maybe see some even more guys com to a clear picture once we get connections and all that kind of stuff yeah keep in mind uh as Matt mentioned the Portal’s open today it’s going to be hot uh things are going to change quickly so that’s why you want to head over to the premium recruiting board on warchant.com for all the latest updates and news we’ve also got a running thread in the Tribal Council of all the FSU players who have already entered their name into the portal that’s going to change a lot over these next 24 maybe even 12 maybe even four or two or three hours uh mat maybe before this video comes out everything might change this whole this whole thing might need to get scrapped so yeah I will say just for transparency we recorded this at about 11 Eastern uh so things obviously will change it’s going to take me like an hour to get it up on the channel so hopefully nothing breaks and changes drastically in that amount of time but before we sign off uh anyone else you wanted to mention on your uh handy list that you sent me uh that maybe kind of stand out to you yeah I think uh James Williams has to be the biggest one Edge rusher from Nebraska uh We’ve mentioned this one multiple times on live streams now that coach knon defensive line coach officially in the fold I don’t see how he wouldn’t go to Florida State he’s literally called this guy like his father figure because of tragic things that have happened to his family and he’s stayed really close with them so I’d be really really surprised uh if Flor State didn’t play a big factor in that one and had a decent year with five and a half tfls and so it’s again that’s one I think I’d watch the most as the most likely out of the list right now the one I think that is most likely to come to Florida State like pretty I don’t like to use the word lock but pretty much a lock James Williams all right I love it Mater he’s gonna be working hard over this next month I’ll just be here to make
