so in this New York Yankees news and rumors video I am going to be talking about all of the lests pertaining to the New York Yankees this 20242 MLB offseason specifically the Yankees news regarding free agency as well as the trade market so for all things Yankees make sure you guys stay tuned for this video let’s get right into it so the first Yankees news item for today actually takes us to the trade market where two players are being linked to the Yankees via the trade market that of course being Nathaniel low and Josh Naylor so a foul territory on X tweeted out Ken Rosenthal says that Nathaniel low and Josh Naylor could be first base options for the New York Yankees so this obviously comes in I guess follow of the Cody Bell and Drew trade to the New York Yankees a couple days ago this of course is a blockbuster move now it was reported initially that Cody Bellinger uh was told that he’d be the center fielder for this team uh the Yankees have since sort of retracted their steps a little bit leaving the door wide open for where Bellinger could be playing in 201 25 so he has the ability of course to play first base as well as in the Outfield I think as of right now he’s probably the team starting center fielder uh keeping the door open for some first base options which of course Nathaniel low and Josh Naylor would be it via the trade market so if the Yankees sort of strike out on some of the players available in free agency and they want to shift their attention towards maybe some cheaper options financially speaking on the trade market both Nathaniel low of the Texas Rangers and Josh Naylor of the Cleveland Guardians both do make a lot of Protestant and they have been reported reportedly of interest to the Yankees this off season so first off Nathaniel low of the Texas Rangers is a left-handed hitting uh first baseman he is 29 years old at the time of this recording so uh still a player that has lots of productive years left in my personal opinion last year in Texas was pretty solid for him uh despite the Rangers not really being that good he had a 2.7 War season 129 hits 16 home runs a 265 batting average 62 runs scored 69 RBI two stolen bases an on base of 361 a 401 slug an Ops of 762 and an Ops plus of 120 so for Nathaniel low a pretty solid year for him last year his career high in home runs is 27 back in 2022 but for the last four years he’s had at least 16 home runs he’s at 16 17 18 and 27 in those four years so he’s a pretty consistent player in regards to being around that 15 to 20 home run Mark he’s a player that can get on base at a reasonable clip a player that can play some pretty Sol defense as well I do believe he won the gold glove award back in 2023 as a part of that Texas Rangers championship team so he’s a player that defensively speaking is a bit of an upgrade and offensively speaking as well he’s not like an immense upgrade by any stretch but he’s still a very solid player like anytime you’re adding a 120 Ops plus player you’re getting some pretty good value at the first base position not the power threat that maybe some other players are you know Josh Naylor is more of a power threat for example we’ll touch on him in a second here but Nathaniel low very solid player could definitely be a a 120 Ops guy a 15 to 20 home run guy and sort of unlike Josh Naylor as well not a one-year rental at least a two-year player um as he is under contract until the 2027 off season so you’d be getting him for at least two years before having to pay this guy uh the big bucks now shifting over to Josh Naylor there’s been a lot of speculation about the guardian shedding even more payroll this off season uh we saw the gnz trade to the Blue Jays a couple weeks ago now and could Josh Naylor be the next Domino to fall in Cleveland he very well could be so uh Josh Naylor is also a very solid option via the trade market also a lefty bat can play first base or in the corner Outfield as well I was a pretty versatile there but if you were to get traded to the Yankees he’d of course be their first baseman he’s only 27 years old as well so he’s definitely just still in the prime of Z be career uh he has yet to reach a ceiling in my personal opinion and last year was pretty awesome for Josh Naylor especially offensively speaking he put up a 1.54 season 137 hits 31 home runs a 243 batting average 84 run scored 108 RBI six stolen bases and on base of 320 a 456 slug an Ops 776 and an Ops plus of 118 so unlike Nathaniel low uh Josh Naylor is entering the last year of his contract so sort of similar to the wota situation this past year for the Yankees having a player on the team uh that you’re trading for in a walk year is definitely a risk and if Josh Naylor can put up 30 plus home runs next year uh wearing the Pinstripes he’s going to get paid pretty handsomely uh next off season but Josh Naylor fits the timeline both in the short term as well as the long term like he’s only 27 years old uh and he’s from Canada as well so New York’s a bit of a homecoming for him so to speak without playing in Toronto I guess New York’s pretty uh close and I think that Josh Naylor brings the power that this Yankees team kind of lack right now because the addition of Cody Bellinger is pretty nice uh but if you’re losing out of onean sto as well as some other players you’re kind of losing that power and Josh Naylor kind of brings that back I think if you were to be a full-time Yankee next year and play in this ballpark 81 times a season he can be like you know around a 40 home run guy which if you were to put him in the three or the Four Hole uh probably behind Darren judge this could be a nice cleanup hitter in this Yankees lineup um at the end of the day so I think Josh Naylor is a very solid option I think Nathaniel Low’s probably a bit of a safer option the cost is probably a little bit less to acquire him as well uh but he does have two years left on his deal so according to Ken Rosenthal is one of the best in the business if the Yankees explore the first base Market on the trade market uh they’re going to have to consider a Daniel low of the Texas Rangers and Josh Naylor of the Cleveland Guardians both are pretty awesome additions in my personal opinion so if you are a Yankees fan do you prefer Nathaniel low Josh Naylor leave your thoughts so kind of building off the reporting of Anthony Santan D to the Yankees in the last couple days Fireside Yankees on X tweeted out the New York Yankees have remained in contact with Fran Anthony santand there who played uh who who mainly played right field in Baltimore but has SP some time at first base via John Haymon HH Yankees so it seems like the Talk of the Town post Cody Bell and JY Yankees trade has been them going after Anthony sandir as the team’s new first baseman for the foreseeable future now Sadir is a pretty intriguing player because the Yankees know him pretty well um having played for a division rival his entire career so far and last year making his first All-Star game he had a career season uh with 44 home runs so building off of that santon D pretty awesome year this past year as I mentioned before a 2.9 War season 140 hits 44 home runs a 235 batting average uh 91 runs scored 102 RBIs two stolen bases and on base of 308 a 506 slug an Ops of 814 and an Ops plus of 134 so for santon D who just turned 30 a couple months ago now he’s a switch hitter plays primarily in the Outfield so uh that could be an option for them as well if they want to sort of move Aaron judge to Center I have santon D in right for example then play belly at first that could be a possibility maybe Bellinger play judge stays in right and santon D plays first base on a more regular basis that could also be a possibility but santon D sort of like Josh Naylor brings the power to this Yankees lineup uh that they kind of lack in my personal opinion with 44 home runs last year playing in the American League East Division that’s pretty impressive if you ask me now is there a chance that he does regress absolutely but he’s only 30 years old uh prior to this year his career high in home runs I think was honestly pretty close if I’m not mistaken let me just take a look here his previous high in home runs was in 2022 with 33 so a bit of an upgrade a 11 more home runs this past year but his last three years in Baltimore he had 44 home runs 28 home runs and 33 home runs respectively so this guy can be at least a 30 home run guy I think playing in Yankee Stadium next year uh with that short porch he could very well be you know a 40 45 plus home run guy if he can stay healthy I fully do believe that defensively speaking maybe not the upgrade you’re looking for but I you’re looking for a power bet santon can definitely be that guy and he’s still a pretty valuable player in regards to you know only being 30 years old perhaps you give this guy like a five or six-year deal maybe around that 20 to $30 million Mark somewhere in between there that could be a pretty fair contract for both sides so santon D is being connected uh to the Yankees this off season will it actually happen will it be the team’s new first baseman well if they explore this option free agency it’s very possible so with all the talk about the Yankees and the first base Market what does that mean for current players on this roster because they’re going to probably have to clear some salary cap space uh clear some payroll if they want to sign one of these players especially ass santon dere uh for example and that player that could be on his way out has reportedly been Marcus strowman so once again Fireside Yankees onx tweeted out according to by Robert Murray so Robert Murray of course um am Marcus strowman trade quote appears more likely than not he’s owed 18.5 million for the 2025 season with a the vesting option for 2026 so yeah with all this talk about the Yankees making their next move uh some of which are going to be you know quite expensive in regards to salary they’re going to have to clear some uh some salary clear some payroll and Marcus strowman seems like the obvious candidate at this point especially since the acquisition uh not too long ago of Max free to that massive contract they have a bit of a surplus on the mound when it comes to pitching so it seems like Marcus strowman could very well be on his way out now what does a Marcus strowman trade actually look like your guess is pretty much as good as mine we saw with Cody Bellinger in the Yankees trade the negotiations kind of took a bit of a stall because of money and this could very well be the same thing right if the uh you know if the Yankees want to shed cap space and teams know that teams are going to be giving up less of a package to acquire that but this trade’s got to be a salary dump one way or the other uh but regardless Marcus strowman this past year uh with the Yankees wasn’t a very good season truthfully a he had a 0.7 War 10 winstein losses and ra of 4.31 30 games played 154 Innings pitch with 113 strikeouts and a whip of 1.468 so for Marcus strowman a bit of an older player now he’s going to be 34 years old in 2025 he definitely could be a very solid kind of bottom of the of the starting rotation kind of guy uh if you look at this Yankee starting rotation as of right now I think strowman’s projected to be the fifth man on this team getting paid more like a three or a number two uh the rotation stack though garri Cole Max freed cardos Ron Luis Hill like one through four that’s probably the best rotation in all of baseball and then you have Marcus strowman an aging player um who’s making a decent amount of money I’m sure if the Yankees want to get rid of that it’s probably going to cost them maybe uh not the best return in regards to a prospect or they’re going to have to retain some money uh which is always possible as well so I think a mercus strowman trade is definitely going to happen like for example if they were to acquire a santand there where’s that money coming from well you can make it work but just to be safe and sort of allow yourself to maybe get another player maybe another you know starting pitcher maybe a bullpen arm maybe a middle infield you like a new second baseman for instance one of those veteran players available on the open market then yeah Marcus strowman trade probably has to happen so there’s some teams out there that could definitely be taking on some payroll uh and maybe giving up less of a prospect maybe there’s teams out there looking for a pitching uh player to kind of fill out the bottom of their rotation whatever the case could be U Marcus strowman could very well provide that but all SS Point towards Marcus strowman probably getting traded this offseason in order for the Yankees to cut some payroll and SS some other players in free agency so that is going to be it for this video thanks again for watching make sure to leave all your thoughts Down Below in the comment section as always regarding the New York Yankees have an amazing rest of your day and I will see you in the next one
