[Music] we welcome you to hour number two live right here on this second Saturday in December it is college football today he is The Mastermind of the college football pig skin that is Joe Ley he is dubs that is Kevin Walsh I am Ben Stevens normally to start our second hours on an addition of CFT you get my top 10 with the weight list featured but now that the field of 12 in the college football playoff has already been determined we know the bracket we await those first round cfp games in less than a week what’s really the point my vision versus the committee but today does begin not just the Army Navy game or a great matchup in the celebration ball between the champions of the swack and the Mak but balll season if you have people in your lives that tell you there’s too many bow games or they are insignificant kick them out don’t give them a holiday gift and find that positivity once again so instead of Ben’s top 10 in terms of my rankings it’s my 10 favorite ball games to discuss here with two of my best buds on the sports grid Network we will work in reverse order as we do 10 up to six next segment five up to one and here they are only on this side all right as we look at where these things stand right now we’re going to start at 10: a lot of this is storyline perhaps it’s the X’s and O’s matchup Lisa guy we start with the gas perilla bow it is on Friday this upcoming Friday 6 days from now 3:30 p.m. eastern time kick leading us directly in to Indiana and Notre Dame in the college football playoff and it’s a game that I am fascinated by John sum back at two lane but his quarterback Daren Mena is now at Duke can Billy Napier and the Gators continue the momentum of a seven and5 season with DJ lagway to build upon I think they can and again you saw the Florida defense come on throughout the regular season they were very physical in terms of back-to-back wins over Old Miss and LSU at the end of the regular season lagways come on now we know that Tain has a very physical defense and wants to run the football but without men in that lineup it’s going to put a lot of pressure on them and Su was thought about to be potentially in the running before Bill bich took the job at North Carolina so does he have one foot out the door early on I give the Inside Edge Kev to Florida in this matchup look I think the big thing is the fact that lagway didn’t hit the portal and ultimately one of the foregone conclusions was not just Billy nap here being fired for a lot of people it was the fact that that would have and I think it would have Unleashed lagway into the portal he would have been qb1 one of the highest there obviously a big get for Billy Napier so I’m sure that was one of the reasons they were happy to bring back Billy because that was supposed to keep lagway there and it has and I think that’s the biggest thing for me in this game we’re excited to bet it is how lagway looks is this somebody who deserves Heisman consideration when we talk next season and we will certainly talk that early Heisman look K dubs helps K Dub’s list who’s getting past the Velvet Rope that we shall determine but a third and a half point spread for this game because it is difficult to handicap B season we understand but one of the biggest pieces that you can add to your algo if you will availability and we expect DJ lway to play to ride the momentum for UF next up at number nine a shout out to you Joey Mack got the boys to yet another ball game Texas Tech and Arkansas in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis it is always a fun game Kev the total is 57 and a half I expect to see some points between those Red Raiders bing bing and the Hogs I mean Texas Tech lighting Arkansas I think what I mean Jo I mean Texas Tech playing LSU are you the Grand Master I should I I I think I think I I I I don’t know I feel like maybe I just have to back you in this game these are your teams well 60 and a half 61 and a half is the total it wear it open came down a little [Music] bit I mean this game OES points in in Memphis I mean it’s going to be a fast track and we know how bad the Texas Tech defense was in terms of pass coverage 305 passing yards allow per game that was one of the worst in terms of college football and we know that Arkansas likes to run it Kong green is came coming back he is yes I thought I thought he was leaving KJ Jefferson coming back to fville all of a sudden after that one stint with UCF I don’t even know now I have no it’s portal season folks portal season enti of your graphic well any of it doesn’t matter jind and Jackson should play in this game it’s going to be a dynamic game I will say this early on I give the inside track two Texas Tech they’ve won the last two bowl games but points of Plenty in this match I’m glad you brought up Ton green because if you didn’t I was going to ask hey do you know who the Razer back starting quarterback is for this game and next now I I yes it is tailing again those Graphics read the entire thing or at least they couple of words next up at number eight the gator bow two nine win teams between Duke and Old Miss but the running RS were not expecting to be in this spot Lane kein went on a campaign to try to get Mississippi into the college football playoff Duke’s feeling good nine wins in Manny Diaz’s first year they get Darien Mena in the transfer portal this past week Kev an interesting match up here in the gator bow you’re devious my friend and I love it from you here’s the thing there’s no way you don’t like Duke in this game it’s a principal play and Murphy’s in transer Lane’s all in yeah but all the boys are playing no see I need you look it’s it’s B season things I need you to zag because I imagine the the dream scenario here it’s somewhere in the drafts is Lane loses this game to Duke it’s the SEC ACC I I that’s to me why I have the big smile is because listen I know yesterday some people were tweeting about how there were no SEC quarter backs that got inside the top 10 of the high or players as a whole which feels wrong by the way but we’ll leave it at that um I just think that that is one of those things where a lot of Old Miss tickets will come in because laye has to prove how much better he is than the ACCC well I’ll say I think the game means more to Duke than it does oh miss just because om Miss had their sight set potentially on a college football playoff I saw Jackson Dort and I saw Miss and a rivalry game play down to M State a sub 500 team that from a defensive perspective wasn’t good and they only put up basically 26 points but it is an intriguing game we’ll see how it plays out listen Lane was saying spot the ball we don’t care who we play when it is we’re ready to run through the poorest ACCC well laye in Jacksonville in just about two weeks get Duke May what a game it will be in the New Year in 2025 how great would it be to see a Mayo bath dumped on on the bald and shiny head of PJ Fleck it might happen you know why gopher seven and a half Point favorite the Gophers have won seven consecutive bow games that is the most the longest active streak Ley guy of Bowl victory National seven and five overall we saw them challenged Penn State lost that ball game as an 11 and a half Point home dog by only one points uh Brent pry and that Virginia Tech Team up and down all year but Kiren drones is coming back a lot of drones this week in the greater area Dr yeah I saw a drones video yesterday which was an interesting you um drones back I think’s really interesting yeah just one of those early season keep it in the back of your minds what vatch was supposed to be this year correct what they were and then what are those expectations next year because with drones back they should keep high expectations how will the books price it and Kevin it’s a great point because one of the reasons VCH had so much optimism as an ACC sleeper entering this season was because of the returning production been the most starters back at the power conference level fell flat of that but Bell toon and Kiren drones really solid this season and drones is back you mentioned quarterbacks that finish in the top 10 of the Heisman voting yeah there’s one that plays over in central New York for the Syracuse Orange in col mord the nation’s leading passer who is going to play in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego against Washington State truly my my honest to God take on this is that it is so unfair that my Miami then lost to not just a top 25 team but now apparently a top 10 Heisman contender in a shoot out and they got nowhere near like they got jumped by Arizona state in the final thing I’ll add this your boy John Gardner mchu mattier if that kid hits the portal I want to see where he lands up as of right now he’s still on campus he’ll figure it out I hope that Syracuse wins otherwise FR Brown won’t get to shower until 2025 if they lose this game that’s a long time there’s an eggnog bath in San Diego too that sexy Lille Washington not that sexy Louisville ended up getting a lot of respect the FBI had him as a top 12 team yeah at the end of the day dominant win over Clemson Jeff braam doing some good stuff should not have lost to Stanford it could have helped a lot of ACC resumes it did not but those mountains in El Paso at the sunbowl only done by the San Gabriel mountains in P California all right let’s work our way up five all the way 2 one we start with the relia quest poll you might think Michigan Alabama when did they last play it was in the Rose bow last year in the college football playoff semifinal Michigan won in overtime in that Rose bow to get to the national championship game and what turned out to be the final ever game coached collegiately at least as of now by Nick Sab to see where these two teams are This Year Kev it is a storyline that is building for the relia quest Bowl yeah I listen no danger man on the roster unbelievable which is obviously I mean look kids out there they peed Ohio State lot of juice we told you they were dangerous I am very interested to see Dore in a bowl game I think for him it’s going to matter a ton ultimately for Chiron Moore the momentum that they created with the Ohio State win is all they needed to go into next season with a lot of juice behind that team we’ll talk more about that a little later on in our show um I’m I think Bama here we just talk about want I think Bama comes in hair on fire personally and I think it’s important for kayin dor especially if you’re looking to make the playoff to develop those players like Ryan Williams and Jaylen milro in terms of your offense right the long off season it’ll help Chiron Moore as well in terms of finding an offensive identity not to get lost on it or anything but we talk about Bama fans and their expectations from you know ultimately he gets to say I put out a top 12 product like the committee I think pretty intentionally almost tried to go hey B we didn’t keep you out the format kept you out we had you 11 in fact not even 12 I just for dor It ultimately nine and three was not a failure it it failed due to the adjusted inseason expectations but preseason I think he had a heck of a year and well it was good I was just say don’t back it up like that in terms of 2025 then he has a problem right you’re building on top of it as we knew stepping into the shoes of Nick Sabin was going to be difficult I think what will be the sour taste for the Crimson Tide is the games they lost in the spots that they shouldn’t have but still some more key wins on the resume will Michigan ride the momentum of winning the game to try to beat Alabama in a bowl for the second consecutive year they’re good man they won a national championship they sold their soul they beat Ohio state for a fourth consecutive season and they got Bryce Underwood coming they’re pretty happy with things are the Alamo bow is always a game to know throughout bowl season there is a joke about the Alamo bow bump the winner of this game in San Antonio can ride some momentum into the next season and what a great matchup a conference clash between Colorado and BYU leisy guy I’m excited to see who plays in this there are indications that both shador and Travis Hunter are maybe going to go for the Buffalo yeah Shor was throwing leak neighbors last night in terms of New York so obviously wants to put on performance along with Travis Hunter Dion’s been very critical about players potentially opting out saying they want to finish business this was a game that we potentially could have saw for the Big 12 Championship they were trending in that direction but Iowa State and Arizona State were the two teams that played so this is an intriguing matchup typically a high-scoring game we’ll see if they could get over that number if you don’t like Dion and you like college football that shouldn’t be possible yeah the fact of the matter is I would have thought preseason Dion might have said hey shador hey Travis we got top five slots locked up let’s not worry about any of this other nonsense here and now he’s like no we’re going to play the ball game our fans are going to travel we want to put out our best product possible I like to some degree I actually don’t love it because what of what those kids Futures are yeah Dion everything you could possibly want from a college football head coach is what Deion Sanders is and they’ve talked about that journey together right that started at Jackson State with this cast and crew that has resulted in nine wins for Colorado this year in a really Marquee bowl game they want to finish out that Journey all As One how can you not love the pinstripe ball huh on a Saturday in two weeks live show from Billy’s outside Yankee Stadium in the Bronx Nebraska in its first bowl game since 2016 Bill O’Brien and BC will take on the Corn Huskers I expect to see some of the faithful weing their Nebraska gear walking around the streets of NYC Max freed guest picker on our show BBE de Willam anybody there um I will say Bill O’Brien in the news the Alabama transfer forgive me on I don’t want to mess the name up laon lren lren you lner um but in the mix for a potentially big swing there knowing that Tommy ctios is going to go play at FSU yeah and Grayson James has really come on in terms of the Boston College offense this game is Blue Collar from Matt Rule and Bill O’Brien it’s intriguing typically trend to the under in terms of the point perspective but this is an intriguing match up ACC and Big 10 uh early on I can’t wait to watch that ball game already some moves in both of these point spreads this open is a moneyline pick now with Colorado’s intentions it is closer to a field goal Nebraska four and a half Point favorite at open down to two and a hook let’s get to the final two the Citrus ball I think is a great matchup between two nine and3 teams trending in the right direction South Carolina and Illinois the gamec a not in a half Point favor but that opened in double digits and what has become the Marquee matchup of bowl season the Pop-Tarts Bowl in a great game between Miami and Iowa State yeah I mean Iowa State looking to get off the mat after they got blown out against uh Arizona state in the Big 12 Championship tit B is very intriguing I mean Bretta potentially ke saved his job with this nine and3 performance this year I’ll tell you some some guys that you you talk about next year quarterbacks returning Lenor cers Roco Beck those are guys that are going to be looking at springboard of ultimately they had the chance for more this year playoffs were right around the corner but those are guys that are going to be looking for huge Seasons next year and we have no idea what exactly they are going to choose to eat the winner of the Pop-Tarts balll and that live edible mascot that is always thrilling theater in college football as well but B season doesn’t just start next week these games in early January B season starts today we’ve got a match up between South Alabama and Western Michigan in the celebration ball between Jackson State and South Carolina state to preview next the sharpest football contest show in the land the Las Vegas football contest show focuses on circus Sports million circus Survivor and the Westgate super contest handicapping the games tonight around 900 p.m. eastern time the first bowl game at the FBS level this season the salute to Veterans Bowl between the Max Western Michigan Broncos and a team out of the Sun Belt major APPA whites South Alabama Jaguars the Jags an eight and a half Point favorite against WMU in this matchup a total at 57 and a hook Ley guy our first bowl game of many that we will see in this college football FBS full season in South Alabama 8 and 1 Half Point favorite we know they are one of the top 20 offenses in the sport how much will that offense put up tonight against Western Michigan well they might uh put up points but I still think Western Michigan potentially could be live with the 8 and a half point spread in their quarterback Hayden wolf when you look at South Alabama to your point much more explosive averaging 193 rushing yards per game passing for well over 240 per game with their quarterback Gio Lopez for much of the regular season completed 66% of his passes uh well over 2,900 passing yards and their defense is much better on paper they’re only giving up around 150 rushing yards per game compared to Western Michigan Western Michigan’s run support is absolutely atrocious they’re only G they’re giving up a buck 86 to opposing offenses more balanced attack rushing and throwing for right in the area of about 187 rushing and passing yards per game but again their methodical Hayden Wolf’s number today is is 1882 last four games of the regular season they’ve been inefficient in terms of the passing attack they’ve only averaged around 159 passing yards per game I think it’s a lowest scoring game I favor Western Michigan from the spread perspective and I’ll go over Hayden Wolf’s passing in order to pull this game out he’s going to need to be eff fishing keev so this’s a really interesting spot here for South Alabama one of the big question marks and why we’ve seen a lot of line movement is we don’t know if Gio Lopez is going to play not du to the portal Gio Lopez has actually said he’s going to come back to South Alabama it’s he was injured in their final game what’s a little ironic is Bish and Dava Port the backup has one full start this year it came to the Mac champions of Ohio he was all right in that game not amazing not bad but ultimately threw one touchdown pass clean football all in all could have been a little bit better on the ground but he was not it is what it is again Ohio though is significantly better than that of Western Michigan I think for me I struggled because you know do we really want to get bow season underway laying a number here like this with QB uncertainty but I have to trust my read I think the Jaguars are much better than Western Michigan I think the Broncos defense is abysmal South Alabama yards per play this season Ben a top 30 offense in college football which is again I know people are going to mention that you know both Wells hting the portal but they they like Bullock plenty there was the lead back in terms of carries and I don’t hate a little home cooking this game not all too far being played still in Montgomery or South Alabama I’m laying eight and a half a lot of Jags fans no doubt in the stands tonight because this is not a far trip from Mobile to where this salute to Veterans Bowl will be in Montgomery best news for major Apple White even if he doesn’t play in today’s game does have a touchdown prop listed that would be the Freshman uh from Alabama as well Gio Lopez making his intentions clear he is returning after a sensational freshman season nearly 2600 passing yards 18 touchdowns to five interceptions 465 on the ground as well for Gio Lopez his top Target Jamal Pritchett the eighth leading receiver in college football with more than 1100 receiving yards this season so that is our first FBS bow game that you will see here between South Alabama and Western Michigan we also have the celebration bow early on this Saturday noon Eastern pick a great moment at the FCS level between the champions of the swack that is Jackson State and the champions of the Mak that is South Carolina state now SC State is a favorite in this game around a two and a half Point number Cav total stands at 53 and a half the miac has been dominant in the eight ever meetings in a celebration Bowl winning six of those eight does that continue today I don’t think so I took the points with Jackson State look It’s tricky to tell who’s the better of the conferences you mentioned the recent history but when you compare where these teams sat relative to their conference a bigger league is the swack so Jackson State being the best Rush offense efficiency wise You could argue the best pass defense and pass offense as well the head-to-head that these teams have happen to set to share Florida A&M who did beat South Carolina State this year Le I like Jackson State as well they have the better rushing attack averaging 218 on the ground that’s the difference Irv Mulligan one of for bowl games and on Monday afternoon the transfer portal officially opened up in college football that agency time to see big names move in the portal and find a new destination but sometimes it’s the idea of a player potentially on the Move either to a new school or the next level that stays put that could Define an off season and Lisa guy for the Bayou Bengals that means Garrett nus Meer coming back to Baton Rouge it was a disappointing season for LSU when was said and done just eight wins this year for Brian Kelly and those tigers in year number three however where you look at things for Garrett nus to build on the production of this past season moving forward to 2025 how optimistic should those Tigers fans be down in the B well I’m optimistic and tiger fans should be optimistic because they have a veteran quarterback coming back and understands the scheme now in terms of the productivity last year in critical games especially on the road in Texas A&M Garrett nus me imploded he did as well against Alabama in another critical matchup but early earlier in the year he was very effective the fact that they have surrounded him with Talent Lacy Aaron Anderson is there he loses Mason Taylor most likely to the NFL draft they did get barion brown that comes over from Kentucky most likely will transfer in that’ll be an added benefit and again a lot of LSU people that I talk to that are close to the program have made the correlation Jaden Daniels from year one in in Baton Rouge to year two significantly improved Joe burrow year one to year two significantly improved so the sky the limit he has the intangibles the one thing he has to cut down on Kev is throwing in and foring the balls into coverage much like Brett fav in the early part of his career at Southern Miss yeah I mean look he didn’t have a m neighbors this year obviously kyen Lacy was good but it know they didn’t have that type of player I mean Brian Thomas Jr obviously also had an incredible year so far with Jacksonville early I think getting nus Meer back is awesome there were certainly some just because of the way the quarterback class looks to be for the draft who were in on nus me so it’s certainly a big get for LSU I think the worry is just if we’re doing the kind of the oh is this guy a Heisman Contender I look at the early schedule outlook for LSU and there are road trips to om Miss Alabama and Clemson on that schedule that’s a little bit concerning I I I think a little bit there for them no and I’ll just add it’s more concerning the defensive talent that has entered the portal for the LSU Tigers they need to really reload and rest Perkins left they lost another Edge rusher they lost a couple of defensive backs already I mean the attrition on the defensive side of the ball if they can reload on that side they’ll be just fine and still when all was said and done the defense was below standard for a Brian Kelly Le Team B Blake Baker in his first year with the Bayou Bengals slightly underwhelming for being the highest paid assistant in the sport first five SEC games four nus meire this past year eight touchdowns to eight interceptions final three five touchdowns did not throw a pick was sacked seven times in the loss against Florida so that’s big news for the quarterback position for LSU if I would to ask you quickly when total four the Bayou bangal in 2025 what do you think that number looks like enter next season eight probably I mean just ballark just ballparking the schedule I don’t think I don’t know they’d have to have a very bad off season to have an LSU seven and a half some books don’t like to hang um flat numbers though so you may get eight and a half lot of plus money to be over I would say eight and a half nine and a half tops definitely no shots n and a half no shot there was there was a time this year where we discussed in the off season could LSU make a run in year number three to that SEC Championship Game had one of the easier Year from the Tigers I would agree the optimism that entered last season in Baton Rouge not necessarily the one that will carry over into this off season having Garrett nus back is a big help as we look at the transfer portal early on throughout this off season we have seen some big-time quarterbacks make a move and some have already signed on with their next program that includes two lanes Dari and Mena as we share during the ball game Roundup he is on his way from the Green Wave now to Durham to play for Manny Diaz and Duke in year number two what a rivalry we will see they on Tobacco Road now in football Manny Diaz and a nine- win Duke team with Darien meny guy against Bill bellich in North Carolina yeah and he played well this year Fu Lane you know you go to one game in particular against Kansas State he stepped up and led that team got his team to an AC AC championship against Army he’s mobile can break contain and make plays with his legs so I think it’s a really good fit and look at the elevation of Malik Murphy coming from Texas first year in the scheme and Duke puts up Dynamic numbers and had Duke at the top of the conference for much of the regular season many Diaz and that staff have shown that they can cultivate and Elevate Talent so I think it’s a good move for Mena we’ll see where they go throughout the ACCC this year what I’m curious is kind of a chicken and egg question of yeah dude Malik Murphy leave because Duke was interested in moving on and they thought they had a good shot at Mena who certainly a saw after kid did does Murphy have his thoughts that last year in terms of that nine- win season and then regressed and it started with week one to the loss to Penn State but when you look at the conference as a whole big 12 competitive and an still an offensive-minded type of conference rich R should hit the ground running they averaged 36 points per game they were a run heavy offense averaging well over two 260 yards per game through for about a buck 77 I think he can have success in West Virginia especially going back home now is it Pat White Steve Slayton success I don’t know in year one but again it’s definitely a good fit much better in
