so in this New York Yankees news and rumors video I am going to be talking about all of the lest pertaining to the Yankees this 20242 MLB off the latest news regarding free agency some of the latest news regarding the Trad marker basically all things Yankees I’m going to be going over let’s get right into it so the first New York Yankees news item for today is actually a pretty big one one that just happens not too long ago at the time I’m recording this video but that is Max freed formally of the Atlanta Braves signing a BigTime ticket with the Bronx bombers this off season so uh Jeff onx tweeted out breaking left-hander Max freed and the New York Yankees are in agreement on an 8-year $218 million contract pending a physical sources tell ESPN it is the largest guarantee in baseball history for a left-handed pitcher so in case you guys are wondering how much that is per year it is $27.25 million per year now the Yankees got dealt a pretty big time blow a couple days ago now uh with one sto signing that record-breaking 15-year contract track with the Mets so this is sort of a reactive move per se as compared to a proactive move but it’s good to see the Yankees front office uh being pretty active and not really getting down and out when it comes to some of these top players available on the open market and not coming away empty-handed with this year’s free agency class so yeah it kind of hurts not getting Wan sto and I think y’s fans would have done anything to get Juan sto but Max fre is a pretty good consolation prize also too they’re probably not done all things considered so max freed last year for the Braves had himself a pretty pretty good season he put up a 3.5 war 11 wins 10 losses in the area of 3.25 uh 29 games played 174 Innings pitched with 166 strikeouts and a whip of 1.64 so for Max freed who is going to be 31 years old next year giving this guy an eight-year contract is definitely a bit of a risk but Max freed was one of the best players available on the open market with how good the starting pitching crop uh sort of was it’s good for the Yankees to get at least one of these players even if they don’t get wodo so I don’t think they’re going to be done quite yet as we’ll talk about a little bit later with some of the latest news items but Max fzy very consistent pitcher he had his best year in 2022 had a pretty solid year last year was name to the all-star game has of course been in the cion conversation as well so max freedy tremendous player there’s a pretty good chance that this contract in the short term will be pretty good and this Yankees rotation as of right now is pretty damn stacked if you ask me gar Cole Max fre Carlos rodon Lis Hill Marcus strowman that’s arguably the best in all baseball so the big news for today is Max fre going over to the Yankees on a gigantic 8-year contract so the next Yankee news item for today actually takes us to the first base Market where they’re going to be having some conversations and could potentially be signing Christian Walker of the Diamondbacks this off season so once again John morosi on Twitter or X tweeted out the New York Yankees are in dialogue with Christian Walker’s reps as I reported on MLB Network earlier today at MLB so this comes this news was reported before the signing of Max freed so does this change anything I would say probably not uh with the Yankees going into the starting pitching Market they still have some pretty good holes to fill at first and or on the Outfield so if they want to acquire a big time bat to replace the subtraction of wotto Christian Walker on like a short-term contract is honestly not a terrible move whatsoever last year Christian Walker in Arizona had himself a pretty solid season he put up a 2.6 War 120 hits 20 six home runs a 251 batting average a 72 run scored 84 RBI two stolen bases and on base of 335 a 468 slugging an Ops of 803 an Ops plus of 121 so for Christian Walker who’s going to be 34 years old in 2025 perhaps giving this guy more than like a three or a fouryear contract probably isn’t in the Yankees best interest but at this point of the offseason the Yankees kind of have to do what they have to do and one and Christian Walker is one of the best players available when it comes to first baseman especially offensive hitting uh players as well so Christian Walker going over to this Yankees team would actually feel a pretty big hole uh all signs point towards Anthony Rizzle probably not returning and with Max freed making $27.25 million per year perhaps you go sort of shorter term maybe increase the money for someone like Christian Walker and that’s the direction you go this off season so maybe you replace someone like Juan SoDo with a Max freed and a Christian Walker that is actually still pretty good if you ask me so if ch chrisan Walker is the starting first baseman for this team it probably bumps Ben rice out I would imagine uh the Yankees definitely have some holes as well in the Outfield and maybe even at second or third base as well so I guess we’ll see what happens there but Christian Walker on a short-term contract a very solid player a player that throughout his career can you know hit for 25 30 plus on runs in his season uh he can get on base a pretty good uh amount as well and just be a really solid player that can kind of hit towards the top Andor middle of your lineup which at this point the Yankees desperately need that with the loss of Juan stto so I will keep an eye on the Yankees going after someone like Christian Walker that could be a possibility there uh the two sides are engaging in some dialogue so whatever that means take it for what you want I guess but yeah Christian Walker potentially going to the Yankees I guess we’ll find out so now shifting gears to the trade market where someone who’s a very good player a pending free agent sort of like what wodo was last year uh with the Yankees acquired him that being Kyle Tucker as a person of note to keep an eye on for the Yankees this offseason so once again John morosi on X tweeted out the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees have shown interest in Kyle Tucker but the Astros are comfortable with him remaining in Houston for his walk year as Alex bregman did in 2024 so first off from an asset management perspective if the Astros were to let’s just say lose Alex bregman they can’t afford to do the exact same thing for Kyle Tucker and get nothing in return so from a management perspective it doesn’t make a ton of sense to let this guy head into his walk gear without a contract but Kyle Tucker is a tremendous player and with the Yankees losing guano a couple days ago now to the Mets perhaps a long-term replacement could be Kyle Tucker which could be a pretty awesome constellation prize for the Yankees All Things Considered so uh Kyle Tucker last year for the Astros once again had himself a pretty solid season he put up a 4.7 War 80 hits and just 277 at bats so uh injury sort of riddled his year last year but he had 23 home runs two a 289 average 56 runs scored 49 RBI 11 stolen bases and on base of 408 a 585 slugging an LS of 993 and an LS plus of 181 so for Kyle Tucker who’s going to be 28 years old next year this guy is entering the prime of his MLB career so this guy still has a lot of productive years left perhaps sort of like what the Yankees did last year you trade for a player uh without a contract extension and plays kind of rle of the dice uh take him on for a season what’s the worst case he leaves after one year well that just happened with Juan sto so perhaps if you’re the Yankees and you were to acquire someone like Kyle Tucker an extension would probably have to be in place despite the fact that it might not be in the best interest of Kyle Tucker at this very moment in time if the Yankees give this guy like a 13 or a 14-year contract then perhaps that gets him in the Pinstripes for the foreseeable future so Kyle Tucker would be an awesome replacement in right field for Juan sto he’s a left-handed bat as well one of the best players in all of baseball and he’s available on the trade market now it’s going to cost a lot to go after wotto but with the addition of Max freed this off seon uh if they’re able to acquire Kyle Tucker as well you can make the argument that both Kyle Tucker and Max free together are more impactful and better than someone like Juan stto in the 2025 campaign and Beyond you can kind of make that argument there so Kyle Tucker is a player that is going to be you know garnering a lot of interest on the trade market uh now that the reporting has came out is it going to happen I guess the only time we tell but if the yke he want to make a big time Splash this off season then perhaps they explore the trade market and Kyle Tucker who is arguably one of the best players in in baseball could be that guy I guess we’ll find out so now shifting back to free agency where someone who’s a teammate of Kyle Tucker that of course being Alex bregman could also be an option for the Yankees this offseason so a Fireside Yankees on X tweeted out the Yankees reportedly quote like Alex bregman and are interested in signing him this winter Brey to the BX # Yankee so Alex bregman is a very intriguing player definitely not the player that he once was there’s a pretty good chance he’s going to get a higher contract than what he’s probably worth but Alex bregman brings Championship experience and some pretty good defense both of which think he’s could definitely use especially in regards to their infield so I think Alex bregman would be probably not their Top Choice at this point I still think bregman’s going to be going back to the Astros if not a team like the tigers or the Nationals I’d keep an eye on as well uh for Alex bregman but I think Alex bregman could definitely be a pretty solid player for the Bronx bombers to add now last year in 2024 uh bregman didn’t have the best of years uh considering that he has been a really solid player throughout his career he had a 4.1 War season 151 hits 26 home runs a 260 batting average uh 79 runs scored 75 rpis three stolen bases and on base of 35 a 453 slugging LS of 768 and LS plus of 118 so for Breakman is going to be 31 years old next year in 2025 perhaps giving him like a long-term contract especially after giving Max free to8 year contract might not be in the Yankees best interest but if you have to get something done and Alex bregman’s the best available option then I can definitely see it happening I think at this point though the Yankees have to prioritize either the trade market for someone like a Kyle Tucker for example as kind of a longer term option or maybe explore a shorter term a shorter term option with someone like a Christian Walker or perhaps someone um like a pet Alonzo those could be options as well at the first base position so third base is definitely position i’ keep an eye on for the Yankees to explore this off season third base first base second base and or the corner Outfield so the Yankees have some work to do specifically infield related now as I mentioned before Alex bregman a very decorated player a two-time All-Star has won a gold glove has won a Silver Slugger a two-time World Series champion and that could be sort of the missing piece for the tankes team and in regards to the Dugout dynamic in regards to getting the team over the hump and winning a World Series when it’s all said and done so I could Alex bre going to be going to the Bronx bombers this off
