he’s done it one chance one goal what a roller coaster at St james’ Park between Newcastle and Liverpool one of the classic fixtures of the Premier League era and it didn’t disappoint again tonight Michael no as you said there’s been some brilliant games over the years between these two sides and another one tonight 33 probably a fair result I would say overall mallister doesn’t do Virgil Van djk any favors there committing himself Virgil Van dijk’s one-on-one and what a finish that is from me just gets a little half a yard and whacks it into the top corner but Liverpool bounced back um and they made a substitution Steve as well in the in the uh in the second half Trent Alexander Arnold came on and he sort of changed the game but that got them back into it to as Jones again I thought Liverpool could have defended this better um leaving players to turn and and play balls in times two really but Gordon did well this is the substitution that I’m talking about this made a big difference he came on and and created two assists 40 seconds later this yeah and just have a look at the movement between Trent and and mosal here Trent actually he goes on an underlap and that causes mosal then to make that run inside otherwise he probably would have ran outside and that interchange just caused a little bit of confusion and uh and it was it was a goal and then they went and scored a third one Tony yeah no um Liverpool started very slowly and they came out second second half and uh and Joe Gomez particularly had a he had a rough night Joe and the and the substitute like you said changed the game uh and then lake lake equalizer the back post Center half got out there and squeezed one in at the far post there you go well done the center half go keeper just commits himself doesn’t he if he if he if he catches the Flight of the ball I think he probably stays at home I think he does he comes out and what I mean what a finish what a finish from a tight angle difficult ball just bouncing but I just think the goalkeeper kaher makes the little mistake there coming out of out of his goal and misjudging it so that means just for the third time in the Premier League under Arna slot Liverpool don’t win just the point and the draw here he is the Liverpool manager well Anna what are your overriding emotions after all that went on there yeah I think it was again a great game to watch uh so this is where what we what we do lately with with the exception of us not winning today because the last two or few times we won um but there were moments in the game that are that that that I thought okay we go away here with a draw we uh I’m happy about it but if you’re one minute before the end three2 up it’s of course a disappointment what about the first half were you slow to get going today compared to how it’s been yeah our day were really really really aggressive uh they forced us to many mistakes this is also what you expect if you beat Real Madrid if you beat Man City and you come here against the team that can also play with this intensity not every team is able to do so but this team is especially with the fans behind them but the question is always can they keep doing this for 90 minutes and um I think second half we were really impressive again a day less to recover that was against City the situation it was today again the situation and if you can be so impressive than the second half that um there a positive thing to take I would imagine everybody’s gone around to shake the hand of Mo Salah you mentioned this week he’s practically replacing able at the moment what would you do without him he is irreplaceable because he every time plays 90 minutes so that probably tells you everything and we all see how important he is with his goals and his assists and the special thing about him is that he doesn’t even have to play a very good first hour to be so special in the last half hour mosalah has scored for seven games in a row for the second time in the Premier League are is the first Liverpool player to do that um and the talk goes on and he says he’s replaceable on a slot he is he really is three players out of contract at the end of the season uh Virg van dke Mo Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold three of the most important players that Liverpool have got I know contract talks have started at least with a couple of them they will of course start with with all of them uh at some point but you’d have to think that that most Salah I mean listen all positions are important in the game but he just I I just can’t I’ve got no more words for him how many goals he scores how many goal involvements he’s he assisted one and scored two again today he’s Relentless he’s never ever ever injured he’s still as quick as he’s ever been as strong as he’s ever been he’s just so important and if Liverpool want to win the league which I’m sure they do then he has to remain fit because it is their natural goal source of goals with that one fascinating entertaining game of football do you feel you should have won it mixed mixed tions I feel we part of me feels we should have won it um a big part of me um and part of me is of course least we didn’t lose either because it was such a late goal for us but just generally very pleased with the performance much more in attacking output much better feel about the team really good energy really good quality performance against for me the best team we’ve played so far this season in the Premier League so a big jump forward I think for us did they have the sort of look of champ the way they came back into that I don’t know I think it’s a difficult thing for for me to focus on I’m only focused on us certainly the their substitutions gave us a a problem with Trent attacking quality and um potency with the ball certainly gave us an issue down that side of the pitch um disappointed with the goals we conceded um but I don’t think that should overtake sort of my general feeling and emotion which is that’s much more like us and if we can hit those levels consistently we’re going to win a lot games two potenti decisions From perspective trip on what looked like the trip on aland inside the box and then the referee ended the game when he did what are your thoughts on that please I thought it was a penalty on Alex but I haven’t seen a replay that was just an initial thought um I was surprised by the the final whistle because I think we spent around about 2 minutes on a free kick in extra time so I was expecting seven minutes to be played I think it’s 5:15 when he’s blown so that was uh yeah that was a blow because we look like we’re in a good position so as a reminder of the the four back in the there did it be you well I was hoping it would be one of those moments and that was going through my mind late in the game when when we equalized I’m thinking we might get one more chance here and that’s when I thought the Counterattack was that chance but U obviously it wasn’t meant to be than te got a George and then Lee Ryder from the start felt like is there any frustration on your behalf that it’s gone from performance that we saw the to this consisten it’s just so elusive yes uh that’s very much in my head because tonight we’re everything that we want to be weren’t perfect but we’re everything we want to be in terms of attitude body language demeanor energy pressing attitude I I I have to say I I don’t think Palace was as bad as maybe the perception is of that game because we were w a lot with seconds left and if we win that game I think there’s a totally different view on it so but I understand that perception always changes with with results West Ham’s last half an hour I thought was was the low point for me but yes we need to hit the type of Standards we did today consistently and that is the challenge now for the players to deliver and you know there would be a human side to this some people with um uncertainty in the air in the next six months it might affect their performance in in some way quite itive we want him to go to you that do well we’ve got sacka there two exceptional players that play in the same position you know it’s it’s quite the opposite with mosal he’s just getting better and better it’s not affecting him in the fight no absolutely and uh I gave um Liverpool bit of criticism there for starting slowly but the coach said there that Newcastle deserves some credit here and I think it is a very tough place to go it’s in credit to them for you know first half they did put Liverpool under a huge amount of pressure but like he said also that the the difference you got to get the ball to Salah to make it to to do it and they weren’t getting through the lines and when they brought Trent on Michael did a little bit of an analyst on it and uh uh you need to get the ball to him and play with him you know he L by sacka and odard you know what I mean sacka is a different player when he’s got odard in the team you know when he when he’s connecting with people he’s that playing off of people first half he didn’t have no one to play with and then second half we brought the sub on and and train comes in there and he starts to do some damage and comes alive because he can’t do it on his own you know it’s a team game and stuff and he was on fire again absolutely on fire he’s a magnificent player but you have to play with him get him ticking and we’re talking about fine margins and and Quine Keller has been magnificent in Allison’s um absence um who honest lot said he’s not back probably till the new year or the end of this year but are these the F margins of Perhaps Perhaps who knows Allison comes and takes that was that just a a lack of concentration for a split second I would yeah I would hate to criticize him because I think he’s absolutely outstanding this lad and you know what I think looking at that again I think he can actually he almost he almost pulls his he can help he almost pulls his arm away I don’t think he knows what’s behind him I thought he misjudged the Flight of the ball that he couldn’t get there but actually looking at that he possibly could flick it on but he just doesn’t know what’s behind him um this lad’s a proper goalkeeper I mean listen all goalkeepers throughout their career will make the odd mistake it’s hardly a big mistake but if you’re nitpicking then I did think that maybe just stay at home but having a look at that again it might have been the right decision to come but actually go through with it and get that little flick on because it looks like he just pulls his arm away at the last minute not knowing as I say who’s behind him but what a finish that is I mean that the difficulty level of that I can’t even begin to say tight angle ball bouncing from a real height you’ve got a smother it keep it down you’ve got about fo to I think he was just reaching out his leg there I think he just stretching maybe maybe there was more Lu in judgment I I’ll give him the benefit Defender mate he’s just gone to clear it with his left foot and you’re right he’s a central Defender yeah it’s not given any credit um and just before we move on we’re back on Saturday next up for Liverpool away at the mercy side Rivals everon the last ever um Mercy side Derby at goodish and Park yeah and AR a slot’s first experience of that fixture and Everton on the back of a an unbelievable result scoring four goals in the Premier League keeping a clean sheet um you know it’s a great result for Everton all of a sudden the pressure is off slightly you know they’re they’re away from the drop zone now um so that takes a different complexion it’s it’s a fascinating game as I say Everton scoring goals again keeping a clean sheet Liverpool dropping points today um all of a sudden we’ll see what happens but a big game huge game he needs to tighten up that defense away from home it’s seem so important Liverpool defense of course uh Liverpool before tonight had beaten the reigning Champions Manchester City [Music]
