[Music] what is up everybody this is the sharp angles podcast the Monday edition of the sharp angles podcast where we discuss the fantasy football waiver wire the injuries from the previous week how that will affect the waiver wire and I I will expect as we move closer here to the end of the season fewer people are alive in their fantasy football leagues discuss more real life implications of some of the stuff we saw of which there were many in week 15 many many important and impactful injuries occurring around the NFL if I’m discussing injuries here at sharp football analysis there’s only one person to do that with and that is Tucker Bagley how you doing Tucker doing great Ray like you mentioned it’s fantasy playoffs it’s the holidays everything’s you know coming towards the end here it’s an exciting time yeah I’m very excited that I see tweet deck live and well on that laptop in the back I’ve so happy with uh the Tweet deck uh that people still use it I I pay for premium I’m not excited about having a blue check mark if you follow me on X formerly known as Twitter I don’t like that I do it I pay for that specifically because my ADHD brain needs tweet deck like during the NFL Sunday and the fact that they took that from us and they made that premium it it really it broke my heart I would pay $40 a month for tweet deck I would pay $50 a month for old tweet tweet deck that was so much better than what I currently pay for they took it from us they took tweet deck from us I will say over on Blue Sky which I’m also on Blue Sky at RM Su and go find me but um on Blue Sky I they have they have an an app that was made like separately like it’s like a third party thing that functions very close to Old tweet dech and so I have been I have been pretty happy with that part of it but I do I miss old tweet deck old tweet deck was the king I I I assume many people listening know those of you don’t new to me I used to work at rot world uh doing the rot world news feed which I did for a very long time I love that job and tweet deck was a lifesaver for for those days for cut down days for the NFL draft uh what a what a product I don’t know why we’re doing an ad for X but uh but here we are tweet deck is actually worth I’m doing an ad for old tter I want bring it back just bring back old tweet old tweet deck please Elon if you’re listening please bring us back uh bring bring us back old tweet deck all right like I said we don’t have a lot of time to to to mess around here at the beginning a ton of very impactful injuries um coming out of this week I do want to say you know before we get into that we record this on Mondays at 4 Eastern so we do not talk about the Monday night games if someone is hurt in our two Monday night games this week we obviously will not discuss that you can read more about it in Tucker’s injury column over at sharpfootball analysis.com again if there’s waiver implications of that you can read about that in my waiver column again over at sharp footall analysis.com all of that will be on the site uh so we won’t talk about that so if we don’t talk about that you know there it is we don’t normally talk about a ton of defensive injuries because this is more of a fantasy focused show that will change though I think this week and uh moving forward as we move you know further away from the the meat of the fantasy season and you know talking exclusively about kind of what’s going on in the NFL also if you’re listening to this as a podcast like I said we do this live you can head over to YouTube search sharp football analysis you can subscribe get notified when we go live we do this on Monday Warren has a show on Tuesday rich and I do one Thursday morning Warren has another show on Friday you can get involved over at YouTube in the comment section we read comments we we react to comments especially on that Thursday show rich and I do uh and so yeah lots of stuff going on you know make sure you go and check us out wherever you can but we have to get started here with Patrick Mahomes who I mean you could set a clock to this it’s late in the season so Patrick Mahomes has to have an ankle injury I think that’s just kind of what we’re what we’re doing now with Mahomes um it was you know it was an injury that you know knocked him out of the game we saw him getting taped on the sideline but he never came back we saw Carson Wentz close out that game and so it’s raised a lot of kind of questions about where we are here with momes so what’s the latest on him what’s the news on him do we think he’s playing you know this week they’re on a short week playing on a Saturday what what do we think about this Mahomes in yeah it’s kind of a a tough one because you mentioned it’s a high ankle sprin it’s something he’s dealt with in the past I mean this is a guy who who has the weakest ankles of anyone you know maybe Steph Curry’s the only one with weaker ankles he’s got the ankles of a baby giraffe um you know he previously had an high ankle spring back in the 2023 postseason if you go and look at his injury history they technically count two of them because he got hurt in the divisional round and then aggravated it late in the first half of of the Super Bowl against the Eagles but he only missed a quarter in that postseason run he was able to play through that high eal Sprint and obviously played at a high level so it’s something where you know I I think we have to kind of take into account it is Patrick Mahomes and he heals a little bit differently and you know requires maybe a little bit different of a timeline when it com comes to these these injuries but I think what really complicates things is the Chief Schedule these next two weeks right they play on Saturday and then they play on Wednesday because they have that that that Christmas game so they have back-to-back short weeks before finally having a long week off heading into heading into week week 18 I guess that would be right so I think he probably conservatively probably out the next two weeks if I had to guess he’s being classified as week to week by Andy Reid in the report in Kansas City that’s kind of the the theme of what I’ve seen the last 24 hours or so so I wouldn’t be overly positive would I be shocked if he was back on the field Saturday not really would I be shocked if he played on Christmas after getting 10 days off no I wouldn’t but I I just I think where they are in the standings right now you kind of look at their schedule moving forward and and kind of what Kansas City is is set up to do in these final three weeks I think they’ll probably try to be as as conservative as they can be and like I said I wouldn’t be surprised if he misses the next two weeks and and partially it’s just because of how this schedule works out for them yeah two games in 10 days coming off of this and we had been talking about you know Warren sharp does for for Sharp football analysis every May when the schedule comes out goes through kind of like the rest and um you know rankings because it’s not the same right uh if you’re playing if you’re playing a team coming off a buy you’re at a rest disadvantage there if you’re playing a team coming off a Monday night game you’re at a rest Advantage things like that you goes through the whole schedule and checks that out and one of the things he noticed um this season that was different than a lot of seasons was because of these Christmas Day games and both all of the teams playing on Christmas if I believe I’m correct all the teams playing on Christmas are playing on Saturday this week so they at least tried to stretch it out as far as possible but since Christmas fell on a Wednesday we have these teams now playing what is it three games in 11 days or something something to that effect three games in 12 days yeah they play the 15th the 21st and the 25th yeah so three games 10 days excuse me yeah so it’s a it’s a um it’s a kind of a a really compressed schedule here and so it’s interesting that you know we don’t really have issues I don’t think on the Ravens the Steelers well the Steelers have Pickins and they have TJ watt obviously we’ll see what happens with with watt um so like there are other issues but this Mahomes thing it probably is not as impactful for the Chiefs if they’re not facing the schedule that they’re facing and they also have this you know the schedule they have is is difficult I mean they have thech Tex they have the Steelers and then they close with the Broncos those are three playoff teams or in the Broncos case a likely playoff team although that win against SCS they’re they’re probably going to make the playoffs right and so we don’t know how good the Texans are you know they’re going to win their division because of the division they play in but we’ll see how good they are the Steelers you know we’ll see if they can get Pickin back for that game again the Broncos played the Chiefs tough uh and then probably would have beat the should have beat the Chiefs and so we’ll see kind of where they are in those three games and suddenly you look behind them and after the Bills lost against the Rams you say okay well the Chiefs kind of have this number one seed locked up now you look at it and you go is Mahomes not going to play even if he plays and he’s injured this offense has been bad enough can they get anything you can they get anything done in this tough schedule and then you look at the bill schedule they have the Patriots twice and the Jets so if they’re trying they you know there’s a good chance they win all three of those games and suddenly this is a very interesting race this is a suddenly a much different situation then and if this schedule wasn’t what it is for the Chiefs and we expected Mahomes maybe not to play this week but play the Sunday after then it’s I think it’s a little bit of a different equation so it is very interesting how this has fallen for the Chiefs a team that has been you know you’re not going to complain about luck with the Chiefs they’ve been the luckiest team in the in the league so far but this is a bit unlucky for him kind of where this is in the schedule how this has played out is a bit unlucky yeah totally and you look like you mentioned you look at the last three weeks and they have a two- game lead Over Buffalo for that number one seed but when you add in the fact that Buffalo has three games against the you know two against New England one against the the Jets and you look at at who Kansas City’s playing I mean Kansas City probably has to win two out of the last three right like they have to get to 15 wins if they want the the first round buy over the the Buffalo Bo will obviously have that head-to-head victory over them so if they both do finish at at 14 and three buffalo would take that take that tiebreaker so then if you’re the Chiefs and maybe you are planning on sitting Patrick Mahomes for two weeks or maybe that’s just how long it takes for this ankle injury to heal up you have to hope that you can split these next two with Houston and and with with the Steelers who you know like you said both teams are playoff teams both teams have I think four losses or maybe Houston has five um but they’re both division leaders they’re both guys teams playing and and jockeying for playoff positions so they’re not necessarily going to lay down so if you’re Andy Reid I mean how much can you trust Carson Wentz to go out and Lead this team to at least one win over the next 10 days and hope that you are in a situation where you’re playing Denver on January 5th with a chance you know to Patrick Mahomes to lead you to a first round buy I I wonder how many coaches have ever asked themselves how much can you trust Carson Wentz I I expect that that is a a lot and you know what’s funny about Carson Wentz is I know that he plays for the Chiefs I watched him play on Sunday for the Chiefs and yet every time I try to bring up that Carson Wentz is the backup I still go on Google and look it up because it doesn’t make any sense to me my brain cannot it there’s something very odd about this guy uh being being you know at one point like the MVP front runner with the Eagles and now it’s just a backup for for Kansas City and kind of the road that he’s taken to get there it’s just an interesting I’m sure you have as an Eagles fan I’m sure you have a long list of interesting thoughts about Carson Wentz but for some reason my brain it just can’t make that happen that he’s the backup but yeah I expect we’re GNA see him this week um it’ll be interesting from a fantasy perspective you know with Travis Kel’s getting enough targets still but you know it doesn’t look great I assume that you know if if you were relying on him there’s a chance that you you may have lost before this but you know you probably have to play him we’ll see kind of the backfield situation continues to be murky DeAndre Hopkins continues to not really play as much as we would like we saw Xavier worthy have a good game can you trust him we haven’t been particularly excited about anybody in this offense to begin with with Mahomes you’re certainly not excited about them if Wentz is the guy that that’s going to play and it’s like like we said I mean it’s not a terrible match up against the Texans right then that match up against the Steelers that’s not ideal and so it’s just it’s a tough spot all around from a from a fantasy perspective from a real life perspective it’s it’s interesting and if we’re continuing on this real life perspective we should talk about the Lions and we should get started here with with David mcgomery um suffered a knee injury it seems like it’s going to be season ending it’s really it’s a tough situation for for Montgomery but then like there’s there are layers to this as well when you talk about all of the other injuries that were suffered by the Lions and this kind of now I think we have to describe it devastating loss to the bills yeah I mean just in general their defense and and what they’ve kind of had to withstand and Aiden Hutchinson’s obviously the the big name they kind of headlines that but you just look at how their defense was was torched Yesterday by m MC Carlon Davis is is out for the year as well they believe and you mentioned David Montgomery dorsy is gonna go out uh for the year he’s gonna have surgery on his his MCL so he’ll be out for the year I mean I saw a graphic the other day it was their you know depth chart for week one on defense the first two levels you know first and second string versus where they are now and they they’ve just been decimated right like I think if you look at their defensive starters they’ve had seven or eight defensive starters go out they that if you look at backups I mean I think they had something like 13 defensive players on the IR last week and now you’re going to add one if not two more in a Le mcneilan and Carlton Davis both out so I mean it’s just unfortunate because this is a team that you know they’re still playing at a high level they still put up about 42 points yesterday on on offense although that last touchdown kind of came in in garbage time after the the game was over but I mean this is a team that has fought through fought through everything and you kind of look at the depth on their defensive line really their their front seven on defense just isn’t there anymore and you know Dan Campbell and I I read other things today says well he has to adjust I mean at some point you just kind of run out of bodies and that’s kind of where Detroit is now where it’s not so much man we lost to Star next guy up I mean you’ve lost your starter and the next guy up and in some cases the guy after that and you’re pulling guys off the street who maybe weren’t employed three or four weeks ago and thrusting them into a situation where they have to play you know 50 plus snaps a game and you know I just think it’s really unfortunate for Alliance team that all season you know I think maybe until this week we’re undoubtedly the best team in football and now they’re limping into the postseason and you kind of look at how the schedule might line up and maybe they won’t even have the the first round depending how how things shake out with them in and you know Minnesota they play Chicago I think too which could be a tough game and it’s just it’s crazy to see a team that’s played so well just limp to the finish line and just be devastated by this this bad injury luck yeah and we actually keep track of all the players on IND reserve on the website on S football analysis when they’re eligible to come back all of that stuff and I’m just kind of going through the list now uh and we’ve got John Kaminsky Marcus Davenport Derek Barnes Aiden son Kyle PCO Jaylen Reeves maen an Alex anzelone uh melu Rik asraw was their rookie Corner uh Malcolm Rodriguez another linebacker McKai Wingo another defensive lineman it’s just and I mean obviously like you said those names we talked about with Carlton Davis and khil dorsy and Al mcneel we’re adding that to the list now that it’s just that’s unbelievable like it’s just unbelievable I feel so bad for this team and kind of what it looks like and we saw we saw they were just like when people talked about Dan Campbell’s decision to you have that onside kick I probably would not have done that it does fit in Dan Campbell’s DNA that is who Dan Campbell is as a coach for good for mostly I want to say mostly good sometimes bad that is who Dan Campbell is as a coach so I get that he did that um it would have been better if we didn’t have this absolutely dumb onside kick rule uh where you have to announce that you’re going to do it ahead of time they have to figure that out they have can’t just be like a a literal Miracle when you recover an onside kick like that can’t be what we’re doing anymore we have to figure that out but like I I probably wouldn’t have done that I get why he did it though because it just it didn’t look hard for the bills and again that’s not saying anything about uh Aaron Glenn that’s not saying anything about the guys that are still playing for Detroit but at some point you just reach a level where you can’t do anything anymore you don’t have the guys to go out there and do anything and the lions are at that point now and I mean the way the bills were able to just run through them the way that Allan was able to do whatever he wants by the way though I mean Allen has ascended Josh Allen has ascended to a just absolute another level over the last two weeks like he’s gone Super Saiyan over the sorry I exposed my nerd a little bit there but he’s gone Super Saiyan over the last two weeks like he’s just it’s unbelievable that we’ve like what we’ve seen from him and what he’s been able to do but it doesn’t it certainly helps that he went up against you know the Rams and then this version of the lions lions defense and so yeah it’s just it’s a really tough situation and I I’m kind of bummed by it because I like the Lions I you know the Lions fans are so longsuffering and maybe they able to turn it around you know they got a good coaching staff maybe they’re able to figure this out but it is what we saw yesterday was was disheartening for as you said a team that had looked like the best team or at least one of the best teams in football and so it’s just you know it’s disappointing yeah and you know maybe they do overcome it like I’ve always held a belief that in sports to kind of overcome a huge St drought sometimes you have to overcome some seemingly instrumental odds on on your road to do so right like think about the Eagles L cars and went Nick fos you go to baseball right the Red Sox were down three 0 to the Yankees and the ALCS and came back and won so it happens like it it maybe just this is another layer to a great story and a great season for Detroit but right now I mean with three games to go you kind of look at who they have on the schedule they’re in Chicago this week then they go to San Francisco and then they host to Minnesota with a Chance that might be an NFC North title game with the one seed on the line I mean that might be the biggest game of the regular season being obious next two week shake out and you know we just don’t even know who’s going to be playing for them on defense right now I mean their their depth chart if you go to you know ESPN or anywhere it’s littered with guys on the IR especially on that defensive front and yeah I just I don’t know how this coaching staff or you know really any coaching staff would be able to overcome losing this much talent this late in the year then from a fantasy perspective I mean um there’s not there’s not there’s no waiver takeaway here I mean if you want to try to get excited about Craig Reynolds I I guess you can we’ve seen in the past we don’t have a ton it’s not like it’s a massive sample it’s only three games but we saw last year when David Montgomery missed time that it was just jir Gibbs jir Gibbs it was the Jamir Gibbs show and I want remember he was a rookie when this was happening it was pretty early in the year too I think it was like week three week seven and week eight that’s right that that mcgomery missed time and and it Gibbs just dominated the work he averaged 23 touches per game in those contests he had at least 18 in every game he averaged 132 yards from scrimmage with a touchdown in two of the three games and then you look at the Lions you know just production from a backfield uh stance and we saw Gibbs have another good game in this in this one against the bills even though the running wasn’t really there but lions running backs are second in the league in yards from scrimmage they’re first in touchdowns by a long way uh the Lions backfield has 23 touchdowns the next closest teams are the Bills and commanders I was 17 touchdowns a piece and so you look at this and I you know if you want to make a case and say they’ve been a two-headed backfield and you want to say maybe try to get cute with Craig Reynolds your team is probably good enough if you’re in the fantasy semi fantasy semi-finals that you don’t have to do that if you’re taking a bet on Craig Reynolds you’re like okay I hope this guy gets a touchdown because this is probably going to be the Gibb Show and the bigger fantasy takeaway from this is that when Montgomery is out jir Gibbs is like the overall running back one not a running back one the overall running back one that’s kind of what we can expect from him moving forward so I haven’t looked at DFS pricing for this week maybe that’s a place where you can take advantage of this um you know and kind of see see what we’re going to do here and a good matchup against the Bears the Bears defense have been better against the pass than than the run and so you know maybe that’s the fantasy take away from a fantasy perspective is not a lot there I do like you mentioned the Vikings the Vikings play on Monday night as I said at the top we record this before that game we don’t know if they’re going to win but I believe it’s it’s a little odd with the tiebreaker with the Eagles but I believe if the Vikings win out they would win the number number one seed they control their Destiny uh in that respect because of that game in week 17 and that would be amazing that would be incredible if a Sam darnold L Vikings team ended up ended up like with the number one seed that would just that would be an NFL storyline that I think I would remember the rest of the rest of my life it would be more impressive than that case keenom Vikings team I think that would be that would be really impressive yeah I think the way the tiebreakers work out because the Eagles have two losses in the NFC that they can’t win a a tiebreaker with two losses um it it kind of works out so that if all three teams are 15- two or 14- two heading into week 18 the Eagles are kind of screwed out of that that number one seed yeah and Eagles fan said screwed I want to be yeah I realized that was harsh as I said it well maybe if saquin Barkley caught the ball against the the Falcons they’d be they’d be 16 and one and it’d be all right we wouldn’t worry about it yeah yeah yeah what a terrible sighting Z Barkley P State Legend say qu Barkley has been for y let’s actually talk about the Eagles here because they do have an injury it’s not one that is going to lead to Mis time but I do think it’s an interesting thing to talk about with Jaylen herz’s broken finger because he said after the game that it it did affect him it’s on his non-throwing hand but he said after the game if I’m remembering correctly and I saw this quote correctly that it it is affecting him which is which is interesting thing for you know your starting quarterback to say yeah it’s weird because he’s usually the stoic guy right he’s usually the one that says that it it isn’t affec to me the guy had a knee injury all year last year I think he suffered against Minnesota in like week two or week three and he never said anything about it it was never really mentioned until later on in the year it kind of slipped and then we found out about it but yeah I mean he said it’s broken he admitted that it did impact his play I think at one point someone asked him about it and he said if it’s shattered it’s shattered it can’t get worse which like going from broken to to shattered is is certainly in escalation but yeah I think it’s mostly interesting when you think about his value as a runner he did have a 27 yard run yesterday they did run um the tush push you know I think four or five times and were successful on on everyone except one of them but in a situation where you know if he has a broken finger on his non- throwing hand and he can’t reach the ball forward if he’s having trouble gripping the ball um you know I think that’s where it’s going to come into play especially on the tush push if they’re going for it on fourth and one and he can’t reach the ball forward because he’s dealing with a bro broken broken finger on his left hand like that’s something that I think could affect them more than you know his ability to throw or hand the ball off and obviously we had a interesting situation last week with kind of I don’t know it felt very media driven the the kind of Rift between him and AJ Brown like none of that felt very very real uh at all to me but yeah we did see them change their approach a little bit in that game against the Steelers they were 31st in neutral pass rate entering the game they were tied for 17th in week 15 which obviously you know TI for 17’s not like your your like a pass heavy team but that is that’s going from one of the most runhe heavy teams to somewhere in the mid pack that is you know a change Herz had his most dropbacks in a game since week three it is funny that this you know what what led to this change and whether this change will stick around obviously it’s it’s one game you know things can change moving forward but the fact that it is a neutral pass rate I’m taking out you know I’m taking out the fourth quarter I’m taking out some of situations in my filter that I used for this the fact that it’s a neutral pass rate suggests that there was some kind of plan to this a little bit I mean squin did miss some time maybe that played a role as well there are lots of things that happened what I did find interesting though is that the big beneficiary of this wasn’t actually AJ Brown it was Devonte Smith who ended up with 12 targets most Targets in a game more targets than he was getting in the games that AJ Brown missed right and so we saw this massive game for Devonte Smith we did see AJ Brown get more targets but his kind of rates were the same his Target rate per route was the same his Target share was the same he just got more targets because he ran more routes and they threw more passes and so it is kind of a a funny what takeaway here but do you see you know maybe this finger injury like you said affects his ability to run all that kind of stuff did you see like an this is a thing we want to do is we want to throw a little more than we’ve been throwing or do you think this is kind of like a one game thing a lot of circumstances involved no I I think they understood I mean they had 88 net passing yards last week and obviously they’ve been winning they haven’t necessarily needed to throw the ball but you look ahead to the postseason and maybe you do end up in a shootout and all of a sudden you can’t get away only completing you know 10 or 11 passes so I do think it was in in emphasis for the team this week and I I think also you kind of look at the opponent right like Pittsburgh’s been really good against the run the season I think they’re fifth in the NFL in yards per carry allowed so I do think that was part of it was you know just the the opponent and the fact that maybe we can’t just sit here and run the ball 35 times and Sequon bar will break a couple and and it’ll be fine like they they clearly went into the game with with more of you know a passing Focus or a pass heavy Focus especially in the first half and it’s funny you mentioned AJ Brown’s like Target share earlier in the week last week I was looking to see well you know where are these targets disappearing his Target share this year it’s been the exact same and has been his first two years with the Eagles the only difference is I think Jaylen Herz is averaging like 24 passes a game and it was 31 each of AJ Brown’s first two years with the Eagles so I mean it isn’t a matter of him not getting the ball it’s just they’re all of a sudden losing seven passes a game and as a result he’s only getting targeted five or six times a games instead of eight or nine I brought that up on Thursday with Rich is that every all of his rate stats are the same they’re just not throwing and especially not throwing in the second half I think they were averaging like seven dropbacks a game in the second half or something wild like that since the buy because they’re winning and if you’re winning you’re going to run I I should I guess we should talk about sequan because he came back to the game but that was a concern for a little bit but everything everything looks fine with seon right right we’re not we’re not really worried about you know whatever happened with with that hit yeah it was funny because he went into the medical tent very briefly and then he was kind of just on the sideline he had his helmet on he was in the Huddle but never went in the game the final 13 minutes of the the second quarter Nick serani about it was asked about it at halftime and his response was well I think Kenneth gainwell is good too so we’re going to rotate these guys like okay may maybe Kenny gainwell is okay but he’s not good enough to keep a guy who prior to the game was an MVP candidate like you know him being on the sideline for 13 minutes is going to raise an eyebrow and then after the game saquon barkle said he was dealing with a little bit of a leg injury um but he felt fine so it’s probably a situation where maybe he’s Limited in practice um on Wednesday or maybe Thursday maybe we get more clarification depending on you know what kind of injury designation he gets um but yeah I don’t think it’s going to be a situation that forces him to to miss time since I have an Eagles fan on the line I I want you to kind of talk about this a little bit because this team is so funny to me because they’ve won 10 games in a row and yet all of last week we’re talking about like maybe there’s a rift between the quarterback and the number one receiver um you know you have this weird thing with saquin the coach is like getting in the face of your best one of your best defenders uh on the sideline at one point in this game that they’ve won pretty comfortably it’s just it’s it’s always chaos I don’t understand they’ve won 10 games in a row they have a real real shot at the number one seed in the NFC and yet we have just all of this circlular around this team like what is it you you spend a lot of time obviously thinking about this team and you know deal you know reporting on this team and dealing with this team like what is going on why is it this way with the Eagles I don’t know I I love it though like gu as someone who also works in sports radio right like this is the dream they win every week and everyone hates something that they’ve done um yeah like Nick seran thing is so fascinating like his his demeanor on the sideline the fact that he gets in people’s faces the fact that he gets in the opponent’s faces he doesn’t mind yelling at someone like Jaylen Carter who you know out leaves him by about 250 pounds um just the the chaos that ensues with this team and surrounds this team is pretty unexplainable like you mentioned last week I know people will say it’s a media driven thing but it’s started with Brandon Graham just saying on the Brandon Graham show by the way not not asked or prompted by anybody else on his own show just Splat out saying that AJ Brown and Jaylen Herz don’t get along and then by Wednesday it’s it’s an entire media storm and AJ Brown has to come out and say no he was wrong it’s fine we’re actually buds now and then they danced on the the sideline together after a touchdown and it was fine like I don’t know it’s just such a fascinating thing because this is a team that is winning at a rate that’s never been heard of in Eagles history right like they just broke the record for the longest winning streak in franchise history they’re headed back to the postseason again they could be winning another division title possibly having the number one seed I mean they’re you know maybe another really good year away from kind of being ranked up there with Andy Reid’s Peak as being you know maybe the the greatest run in the history of this franchise but every week it feels like there’s something going on where you kind of doubt and say well maybe they actually aren’t that good maybe maybe this is all a fluke but it’s now been four years where they’ve won at a really high level yeah and I mean the defense is legit like real legit and obviously you know you have you have questions about some stuff that happens on offense but The Playmakers they have it’s just yeah there’s no reason really to question this team if they’re one of the best in the league they’re very clearly one of the best in the league but it is it’s such a weird vibe with with with this team it’s just it’s an interesting thing to to think about and to talk about it so uh I always like to hear an eagles Fan’s perspective on it um before we get on to you know some other injuries we gotta talk about Alan Kamar gotta talk about Gino Smith before we do that though I do want to mention our playoff packages over at Shar football analysis are now available they’re available to to purchase you can actually get $50 off our playoff package using promo code any of our postseason if you want to be a part of that use promo code save 50 get $50 off go and check out the playoff betting packages that we have available all right let’s move on to Alvin Kamar suffered a groin injury on a it seemed like he suffered it on the touchdown catch I think he he played in a little bit longer seemed like he suff suffered it on his touchdown catch in the third quarter they play on Monday night this week so he has another week to recover but kind of what’s the news what’s the prognosis here do we think he’s going to play in week 16 yes like you mentioned he he did injure it on that that touchdown catch I think he stayed in got another carrier too before finally finally exiting it’s been ruled a groin adductor um strain which is kind of the muscle that connects your your groin to your your pelvic bone um it’s something that I it’s kind of like an offensive line injury I’ve seen mostly um but it’s just a strain the coaching staff uh Darren Rizzy uh told reporters today that he didn’t have an update yet he was still undergoing testing um but it’s a situation where I I would be surprised just given his Advanced age that maybe maybe he he doesn’t miss any time but you’re right like having the extra day off before Monday um is is certainly a beneficiary especially because he’s someone who has been so valuable in in fantasy and maybe if he if he does come back and he does play on Monday if he’s Limited in his touches if he’s not getting the same kind of volume he’s he was getting I I’m curious as to what kind of value he he has from a fantasy perspective because this is a guy who didn’t score a touchdown for seven weeks before he caught that that beautiful pass by the way it was like a 30 yard catch it was unbelievable um they was able to keep both feet and Bounds you know kind of in the corner of the end zone um before that he had gone seven weeks without a touchdown but it was still a viable fantasy option because he was still getting the ball like 20 times per game so if he’s limited if he’s someone that you know isn’t fully healthy but he’s still going to suit up and now all of a sudden he’s only getting 10 touches or 12 touches then his fantasy value isn’t necessarily what it what it is or what it should be and if you look at someone like Kendry Miller who’s going to be his backup and who rushed I think 10 times for 46 yards after after Kamar went out he’s not someone that necessarily catches the ball um out of the back field either so you have to wonder where kind of those targets are going and it’s just kind of a really weird you know gaping hole in the middle of this offense that’s already lost a ton of skill position players like Chris La out that they’re missing other wide receivers and if you add in the fact that Alvin Kamar is gone has pretty much been the lone constant in this offense the entire season I just don’t know where they turn to like where do those 20 plus touches a game end up going yeah it is funny um we I don’t want to say funny but it is interesting we we talked about the Lions and all the injuries isues they have I’m sure Saints fans have to raise their hand and say uh kind of look down here at us uh we’ve had we’ve had equally you know we’ve had a lot of trouble on this team in in terms of injuries the offensive line is getting healthier but like you mentioned Chris olav’s out rashed Shahed is out so they’ve had those issues Tamm Hill is not there anymore he’s obviously out for the season and so that’s somebody who you know in the past you would expect to get some carries you mentioned kendre kendre Miller is the guy here that you would be targeting on waivers I don’t know if you would want to have him over Jerome Ford honestly I haven’t decided that yet I’ll have it decided in the column uh on Tuesday so you can check it out and see kind of who I put first but those are really the two guys that you’re going to be looking here on waivers it’s tough for Miller if I knew that kamaro wasn’t going to play it would be Miller I like Miller I I think that what we’ve seen from him since he’s come back now that Dennis Allen is not there he can finally actually get to play football and since he’s know since he’s come back we’ve seen what he offers we’ve seen how explosive he is you know how how good of a runner he is like you said he had um he had all eight actually backfield touches after Alvin Kamar left so all eight of the backfield touches in the fourth quarter he had 22 snaps to three for Jamaal Williams he is the guy 5.9 yards per carry and so you know we’ve seen him have some success it’s not you know they’re going to get to play you know the Packers on Monday night we’ll see if they’re able to stay in that game long enough we’ll see if their offense can score enough he has a lot of the same concerns as Kamar had coming into this game will there be touchdowns will he be able to stack enough carries and then also we don’t know if he’s going to get the workload of Kamar and so it is it is a big concern but from a talent perspective I do like kendre Miller I’m very interested in in what’s going to happen if you’re looking out at like I need a starter this week maybe you had Kamar and he was one of your starters he’s certainly somebody that you can go to and I think that I think he’s a pretty you know talented back the problem is if you don’t have Kamar then you’re going to Monday night and kind of guessing maybe could pick up you know one of the Rams wide receivers you could pick up Romeo dubs who might not be rostered and you could put him in the flex if Kamar ends up playing but it is a it is a tricky situation here for K kendre Miller because of of when they play another injury we need to look at is Gino Smith who has a knee injury this has been a I know this is an interesting one that he didn’t come back to the game but everything that I’ve heard since you know since the game ended was like I don’t they don’t seem to be really worried about it so I don’t really even know what this injury is for Gino yeah Mike McDonald went on a radio show this morning for his you know kind of postgame radio hit and said there’s nothing structurally wrong with the KNE he described it as severe enough to keep him out of you know last Sunday’s game or or last night’s game but they aren’t really sure kind of where he stands moving forward all they know is that isn’t necessarily a long-term injury he’s not dealing with the torn ACL or Tor MCL so it’s probably more of of a knee sprain kind of situation so I think this is something that we’ll have to monitor throughout the week um maybe on on Wednesday we’ll get a little bit more of a clearer picture of you know kind of how he’s trending but for the most part you know at the very least it’s not a long-term issue he could or or should be back by the end of the season as this team fights for a playoff spot so the season isn’t over for for Gino Smith but I’m not sure if he’ll be ready to go you know six days from now we had any hope of DK metf turning it around this fantasy season we need Gino Smith like I I’m not sure that’s going to happen regardless but we need Gino Smith because their other option is Sam H how and the Seahawks can’t block like they already can’t block if you’re looking at kind of what Gino’s done this year and you want to kind of judge him for that you first have to recognize that he’s doing all of this behind an offensive line that just feeds him to the Wolves every every single every single week and if that’s going to happen to Sam how it’s just as we kind of saw on Sunday night if that’s going to happen to Sam how it’s not going to be pretty he took four sacks on 19 drop backs against the Packers for the commanders in 2023 he took a sack on 25% of his pressures which was the fourth worst among qualifying starting quarterbacks just Bryce young Zack Wilson and Jake Browning were were worse than him in terms of sacks to you know pressure rate and so if you know if how is starting he is going to he is going to really struggle in the face of the pressure that the Seahawks offense offensive line has allowed All Season they’re playing the Vikings if if Sam house starts I feel very comfortable that you’re going to want to use the Vikings defense and DFS or in weekly weekly fantasy you might want to use them anyway uh in this matchup in this situation but yeah we need we need a healthy Gino we need Gino starting for you know for the sake of Jackson Smith and jiga DK metf of whoever is starting at running back whether that’s shanet or we get Kenneth Walker back we need uh we need we need goo Smith healthy for this offense so let’s hope that that happens another kind of injur this injur is actually depressing to me and Nick chub who obviously came back from a serious KNE injury hasn’t done a ton now it looks like he’s out for the rest of the year right yeah it’s confirmed that he has a broken foot so he’ll probably I don’t know if he need surgery to to correct it or not but he won’t be back before the end of the season and you said it’s a disappointing situation because he fought his way back from that torn ACL he hadn’t really looked like himself but there were flashes he was you know putting together some decent carries every once in a while so it’s unfortunate that you know if he stayed healthy maybe you look him as someone who could really take another big step forward or step back to to where he was prior to his injury but now that he’s going to have to rehab this through you know the first part of the off season you know kind of it’s more of a future injury of you know what do this change or what do this make him look like in in 2025 and Beyond as he now compounds another injury on top of the torn ACL he suffered last year drone Ford was a clear starter early in the year when chub was missing he’s actually been getting around 50% of the the carries over the last few weeks I I referenced that in the waiver column last week so I mean we’re going to expect him to step back into that that starter role we know about Jerome Ford is that he can create big plays but he also is going to have a lot of negative plays that’s kind of been his his thing he’s 35th a negative run rate among 44 um qualified backs this season to be fair to him Nick chub is 44th so it’s also a problem with the line and the scheme there but Ford was dead last in negative run rate in 202 he was worse than Kareem hunt he was definitely worse than Nick chub before before the injury this is kind of a Jerome Ford thing that said if you get him a lane as we saw on Sunday he can take it to the house he can create big plays and so if you are playing Jerome Ford they’re playing the Bengals if you’re playing him you’re kind of hoping for that I will say the Bengals defense has not been good but they have not been as bad against the run it’s not like a match up you’re running against running away from or anything but they’ve been like mid pack against the run and so it’s not like it’s the most ideal matchup that you might think when you see Bengals on the other side it’s not perfect for him but you know if you are desperate if like I said you had Kamar and somebody gets kendre Miller from you then Drome Ford is certainly an option he’s gonna get carries and he does have that big play Upside so as long as that is there then maybe he pops a another long touchdown run and you know makes you makes you look good let’s move through a couple injur more injuries here just pretty quickly Jaylen waddle I I said the injury you know as I watched it it kind kind of looked rough but it seems like it seems like he escaped a really serious injury on Sunday yeah I haven’t seen um any kind of major updates yesterday they were hopeful that it wasn’t wasn’t serious today it came out and said that it actually isn’t serious it won’t require surgery so it’s kind of just a wait and see um issue at this point as we try to figure out you know just how severe it is but with the caveat knowing that it isn’t a major injury it isn’t something that will require surgery and is something that will that will end the season but as we kind of get to the end of the season I mean season ending injuries are going to be be less and less severe with each passing week yeah and I mean we’ll see what where where the Dolphins kind of are and how they feel Odell Beckham is gone and so next up would be Malik Washington he was six in targets uh he had six Targets on Sunday that was one fewer than Tyreek Hill and Devon a chain he went five for 52 I would assume most teams left playing in the playoffs have better options I would assume that we’re going to Malik Washington against the 49ers that that’s more of a DFS kind of situation but you know he is out there and he is an option if if you need him I did mention they’re playing the 49ers the 49ers have obviously had a bad season that’s still not an ideal matchup for for Washington so um but you know just a just a name to know finally Zack Herz uh suffered a concussion as we continue to say feel like we’d say this every week it’s a concussion we don’t know right that’s kind of where we are yeah it’s a concussion we won’t know until the first injury report comes out or the head coach gives an indication on where he is in in concussion protocol but yeah for the most part I would imagine it’s probably at least one week absence um as they try to fight for for a playoff spot but it was an unbelievable catch by by zacker they don’t know if he got hurt on that play or his next time but it was that play yeah no was that play right okay um yeah but it’s just a situation where we have to wait and see as I’ve said before I think the median return time from a concussion is 9 days which 7 days in a week so that means usually you’re back at practice the the week following the injury so maybe that’s kind of what we’re looking at here for Zack Herz yeah and I mean it is they do get the Eagles this week it’s obviously a big game um he obviously has his connections to Philly I assume he would like to he would like to play in that game uh as well if possible but it’s the concussion it’s you have to get through the Proto you get through the protocol or you don’t like that’s kind of the way it is with concussions and so we’ll see you’re not taking any of the other options on Washington I don’t think I mean we’ll have to see what you know they obviously have the rookie there we’ll have to see kind of what happens I would say you’re probably going elsewhere for options though our old favorite and Penn State Legend Britain strange is available uh in a bunch of leagues um he he had a big game this past week Rich rebar by the way in his DFS stuff uh he was he was in on Britain strange and he ended up you know that ended up working out really well for him Britt strange had 84.3% route rate 27.9% target share 11 catches for 73 yards the Raiders ow 8.7 yards per Target to tight end which ranks 27th if I had Zack Herz and was playing Zack Herz which is possible given kind of what the tight ends have been this year if I had Zack Herz was playing Zack Herz I’d be trying to go and get Britain strange and so that would be that would be who I would be focused on that’s about it for us were some other injuries there Jal mlin was actually a do not I did not participate on Monday’s report for the Broncos you know we’ll see how that back field works out but I don’t really think is there anybody else we really needed to talk about this week don’t I don’t really think so no I don’t think so I think we covered all our all our bases there are some Alex Pierce had a concussion I think and so yeah some other names but I I think that’s that’s probably it for us I mean the TJ watt news that is impactful we don’t normally do that kind of stuff but it seems like that was a low ankle sprain so yeah I think we’re I think we’re good Pat Cain had an ankle sprain so lots of stuff going on there for the defensive side you can read more about that all of the defensive players that we don’t really talk about on this show you can read more about that in the injury update that Tucker will do on Wednesday night going over kind of the initial injury report so make sure you go and check that out like I said my waiver column will be out on Tuesday so check that out for if you’re still in the playoffs still you are looking for some names you could pick up and use this week to try to make it to the fantasy
