the betting odds are so out of whack with Josh Allen as a clear favorite and then Lamar Jackson’s like I think they’re too out of whack and I tried to make this point the other day some people got my point some people didn’t I worry that some of the people who have MVP votes are just going to put Josh Allen at the top because they think they have to because he’s the betting favorite it’s an example of how this hey everybody bet bet bet bet bet go bet how it’s going to skew and screw up a more reasoned objective analysis don’t pay attention hey voters don’t pay attention to the betting odds pay attention to these numbers look at the season Lamar Jackson is having it’s incredible 121.6 1.21 GW are you kidding me passer rating for the full season he’s north of 120 for 17 games 16 16 games 39 to4 touchdown in interception ratio only Aaron Rogers could dream of an touchdown interception ratio to that amount and look at the rushing yards unbelievable the only category where it’s out of whack is Josh Allen with 11 rushing touchdowns this is nuts this is insane this is crazy what Lamar Jackson is doing and I’m not saying give him the MVP although maybe we should I’m saying why in the f are the betting odds so out of whack well Mike I mean you heard me say this what three Mondays ago is a four I was going I don’t understand it everybody’s saying it’s a lock for Josh Allen and I was like you’re telling me if he hits a lull and M I mean Lamar continues to do what he’s doing and what he did last week and this week like what like he he’s not in this conversation and to your point it feels like and this is my annoyance with everything right now the Heisman MVPs we just fall into these like Cookie Cutter well he won it last year and uh this guy’s just a favorite and we’re going to and he’s the number one of the number ones or number two two seeds right now like screw all that who is the most valuable player and these two both embody what it means to be valuable to your team and like what you said like again first off just at a base level comment this year craps all over last year’s year by Lamar Jackson last year doesn’t even seem like an MVP season compared to this this is way better it’s not even close he’s more surgical throwing the ball they’re they’re more explosive on the offensive side of the ball now thing that I think is interesting and clearly the stats are better it also the MVP is about moments Josh Allen has a lot of moments this year and some big TV games where you just go what like whether it’s the Chiefs the Rams the Lions game you go that’s insane the other thing you’ll argue for Josh Allen is that yeah his support system on the offensive side of the ball is not as good as Lamar Jackson he doesn’t have a first ballot Hall of Famer at running back he does not have Mark Andrews at tight end who’s one of the better tight ends of this generation he does not have a z flowers either he’s got good Josh Allen you heard me it’s better than ever before and he’s got options there but I think that’s what we got to weigh in all this but I’m with you this is a dead heat I don’t understand why Josh Allen is so favored or was so favored before yesterday has kind of equaled out uh you said it right Mike I mean what Josh what Lamar Jackson is doing is unreal it’s he’s on fire and he’s playing as good as we’ve ever seen anybody play when we had this conversation on Monday and while I was at the airport waiting for the flight home I wrote this up that it still is more wide open than the betters would think there’s still two weeks of football to be played and Lamar has something that Josh Allen won’t have a big spot captive audience Standalone game they’re not going to put the Jets game or the Patriots game for the bills on on 4:25 p.m. Eastern or prime time I can tell you I don’t know much about what game NBC is going to have to end the season but I guar freaking tee you it’s not going to be bills Patriots in Prime Time week 18 and I guarantee you well I can’t completely guarantee because I don’t know what game stand out to be shifted to Saturday they got to find two of those games to move to Saturday I would be stunned if it’s Josh Allen and the Bills playing the Patriots on that final Saturday of the season so as of Monday with more games to be played when we talk this through Allen was minus 550 that means you got a bet 550 50 to make a 100 to be the MVP and Lamar was 4 to one you bet 100 you make 400 if he wins so minus 550 versus plus 400 currently DraftKings has Allen down to minus 240 and Jackson up to or down to I never whether say with these odds what’s up what’s down either way they’ve changed minus 240 for Allen and plus 180 for Lamar so it’s getting Tighter and essentially yesterday day was Lamar’s closing argument because Browns Ravens isn’t going to be a big deal next week although maybe you know they Pro I don’t know how the tiebreakers work between the Ravens and the Steelers the Ravens haven’t clinched the division yet so it sounds like the tiebreakers must be in Pittsburgh’s favor but if the Ravens would lose to the Browns then that would be a factor but I I Envision I don’t know maybe they’ll make him at 425 I because they like to put the games on at the same time that have the the the connective tissue and the comes are driven by what the other teams do but I I don’t think if Lamar’s got a better chance that’s my point than Josh Allen of having another game that a lot of people are watching more than just the standard cramming into one o’clock Eastern on Sunday so that gives Lamar another chance potentially if he’s running circles around the Browns in week 18 but yeah I I I don’t know who I’m going to vote for and I won’t make the decision until after the season ends but it clearly is not a landslide and the odds are starting to reflect that no it’s not it’s not a landslide it should be nitpicky these are two of the greatest quarterbacks we’ve ever seen period they that’s how good they are they’re they’re phenomenal we’re in an era right now where Allan burrow and momes and Lamar Jackson are in a different class than every the other 28 quarterbacks in football they’re in their own class and it’s incredible what we’re watching and these two and what we’re seeing in the AFC is awesome it is and yesterday was the perfect moment like you said Mike it’s Christmas it’s 4:30 in the afternoon and it’s one team in the Baltimore Ravens who looks like it’s on its way to Philadelphia Eagle Detroit Lion Kansas City Buffalo billville right as far as best teams in football and let’s be honest Houston stinks Houston’s not that good I don’t want to say stinks but they’re not good I mean you got a Houston are they a playoff team if they’re not in the AFC South I don’t know I think it’s fa to question right exactly right you know the defense isn’t they’re good they fly around but as you saw yesterday they have problems when a team is big they got pushed around like they were little gnats little flies they were like get out of the way Derrick Henry wants to run here get out of the way Lamar wants to run here so they were outclass yesterday let alone we continue to see the struggles with their offense and that they really can’t do much at all if anything especially now without tank tank D at receiver too so it was the perfect perfect storm of game day Christmas and then who he played and we’re on the upward trajectory and the other team is falling apart in front of us and that was a butt whooping uh kind of unfortunate
