all kinds of NHL news and rumors in today’s video including the latest updates on the New York Rangers could we see Captain Jacob troa and forward Chris kryder possibly on the Move we’ll discuss the latest Intel around there obviously Jacob trouba has been linked to the Montreal Canadians by one andl Insider we’ll discuss what that trade could look like plus Chris cder’s been linked to a couple teams as well uh we have David year trade it could be imminent Teo Myers’s been suspended we have news from the NHL waiver wire and lots of injury updates as well including Brock besser Tage Thompson eram Zub and more coming up next so welcome back to another video here at top sh hackey as I mentioned we have lots to talk about here today before we get into all the news and rumors I want to start first with uh this day in hockey history uh on this day back in uh 107 years ago uh which is a long long time ago obviously the NHL was founded it’s actually the NHL’s birthday today uh which that founding took place at the Windsor Hotel in Montreal uh following 3 days of meetings involving owners from the uh well what became the defunct National Hockey Association which was um obviously the predecessor to the NHL which was just in Canada uh which of course had had suspended operations uh during that last season they mainly suspended operations because they were trying to get rid of an owner that nobody else liked uh and they ended up uh creating this new league and abandoning the old league and of course uh the rest’s history that NHL or the NHL sorry final season in 16117 um had two teams in Montreal two teams in Toronto as well as the Ottawa Senators and the Quebec City bulldogs so obviously lots of Rich history there amongst the uh Eastern region of Canada where mostly have NHL hockey today of course except for Quebec city so of course it’s a big day in hockey history on that front of course another big story that happened which isn’t related to the NHL news per se but of course one of the NHL most well-known personalities Paul banet of course who has the spit and chickas podcast as well as appears on TNT on the panel and has made the occasional appearance on Hockey Night in Canada as well uh ended up in quite a situation uh back I think it would have been two nights ago now or last night he ended up uh in a situation where he was at a local restaurant/bar where he frequents and um unfortunately he was there um just waiting for a table kind of you know either he said he either goes to the bar or some he’ll get a table just kind of depends um and there was this group of six or seven males that were he could hear were having major disagreement in kind of getting uh to becoming a situation with a couple of the managers and since he frequents a place uh a lot that he knows a lot of the workers there very very well uh so he decided to go over and um kind of help out the manager s of speak and ended up they uh this whole group ended up attacking him and ended up in this massive brawl this big fight um ended up taking it through the restaurant outside down the street anyways it ended up quite a ordeal he did discuss it on his latest podcast that came out today um it just and obviously all these people were ended up getting charged thankfully the local police did end up arresting them all um but it was quite the ordeal I mean he seems to be fine like he was obviously he did go to the hospital to get checked out I think he was given some pain medication uh he probably know probably knows more now about some of the longer ter effects or you know bums bruises or what have you that he dealt with uh looking at the mug shots which which were released as well on these six individuals uh looks like he get some good licks in as well I mean obviously we know Paul Bizet was known as a scrapper and a fighter when he was a pro hockey player um which what he made his living on so obviously I don’t know that they really knew who they were messing with but no matter how good of a fighter you are and how tough you are you know 67 on one is you know you’re OT numbered and like I said I’m sure he had um inflicted his fair share of Le on these guys but they also got their fair share of shots on him uh as well but I know uh it seems like law enforcement prevailed and they kind of got the best of them and I know he’s out to kind of ruin their names at this point so quite a scenario I mean ultimately you know sometimes those scenarios go really really bad and he could have had a much much worse outcome for him uh he could have been you know uh injured a lot worse than what he was so thankfully it worked out that he wasn’t too badly hurt he’s obviously back to work within the same know the next day so obviously nothing too serious there but still a crazy scenario that unfold there in Arizona of course we got a suspension today New Jersey Devils forward Teo Meyers has been suspended for one game for a cross check to the face that happened last night against the Nashville Predators and youngster Zachary L uh Meyer and L ended up battling beside the net after the whistle just one of the looked like it starts like a normal kind of scrum shoved back and forth and then Meyer comes up and and gets them first time he get him up around like the chest area then he got him a second time and he came up even higher and got him right in the face look like between the mouth and the nose area and uh obviously you know caused injury so he was given a major penalty Meyer doesn’t have much of a suspension history there’s no suspension history he does have a fine from before that was it uh so because of that they only gave him a one game suspension and when I did the video earlier I did compare it to the David pan suspension uh last year which was the cross check to the head of ardam zuo of the senators of course Peron at the time was Redwing of course they’re teammates now but you know at the time um I thought it was it’s not exact same didn’t play out the exact same way but at the end of the day it was a cross check to the head and uh they were treated very very differently piron was given six so uh I know they have a little bit of a different history a little bit of a different scenario but I didn’t expect it to be so drastically different but in the end it was um it’s kind of hard to determine how they make the decision sometimes a player safety although he did definitely deserve a suspension I thought it might be a little bit more than one based on the pon scenario last year the Pittsburgh Penguin St also plays 25-year-old for valter Pon and on waivers today he’s played in 10 games this year put up two points uh last year appeared in about 50 games put up 20 points so certainly looked like he was on his way to securing a bottom six roll last year um things haven’t quite worked out the same this year so we’ll see the guys uh a good skater good good speed uh good defensive metrics good uh you know responsible player in that sense but not a ton of offense that you’re going to get out of him but um he might be you know an attractive player he’s not making a ton of money good skater good defensive player so if somebody’s looking for bottom six forward maybe he gets picked up tomorrow we’ll have to wait and see when the waiver wire information comes through at 2:00 Eastern time tomorrow afternoon some big injury updates a couple couple of guys uh who are big important players for their team returning tonight including Brock besser and Vancouver so he’s finally back and in Buffalo Tage Thompson comes back as well and listening to Thompson speak to the media it kind of sounds like he probably could have played in the last couple of games they just really wanted to take an abundance of caution and make sure he was 100% good to go and whatever he was dealing with wasn’t going to become like a nagging lingering type thing obviously the team was playing well and they just decided let’s just be cautious here and um let him have some extra time which has probably worked out for the best in the long run like I said the teams didn’t miss a beat so why not let him have that time to make sure he’s good so in return for him coming back on a roster Isaac Frozen has been resent to the American Hockey League in Ottawa uh of course we talked about ardam Zu with a fractured foot yesterday he’s been placed on long-term injury reserve cuz I need the cap flexibility and uh you know with that kind of injury he’s probably looking at at least four weeks if not maybe six uh that he’s going to be out of the uh lineup could be a little bit longer it’s really kind of hard to say but I think a solid month is probably Fair um but in order to to recall anybody they needed some more well they did absolutely need more space but with the roster the way it was they had just moved Zach mchan down after clearing waivers they called up Cole Reinhardt and they called up Z zacko stop Jack so that kind of made things tight that way and they’re going on a Western Road swing here probably left today because they play tomorrow in San Jose and and they called up Donovan Sango uh who will likely make his NHL debut or at least be on the team to make his debut I mean we uh may not see him it’s hard to say because the send technically do have six healthy defenseman with um ham and Bernard AER both able to play on the right side I know Shabbat did Miss part of last night’s game against the Flames as well after uh getting I think a block shot or something so um he did come back and finish the game but if anybody’s banged up or bruised up Sango will be the guy to go in so we’ll see where things sit on not front uh in Ottawa in tonight’s game with the Montreal Canadians against the Utah Hockey Club uh Mike Mat will not be in tonight’s lineup apparently he’s dealing with some sort of ailment which is going to label him as dayto day so he’ll be out Jaden struble who was expected to be a scratch will be in the lineup instead and in San Jose they did return young goalie yav aerov back to the American Hockey League today now as I mentioned we got lots of other trade talk and rumors floating around the NHL one David year is probably going to be the next trade that we see there’s been numerous reports from NHL insiders saying that things appear to be getting close uh that the Blue Jackets and Don woodell have five or six pretty solid concrete offers that they’re kind of muling over trying to decide what to do um I’m sure they’re probably trying to play teams against each other to increase the value it’s believe they’re looking for another comparable young Talent uh similar age and skill set to this player and David year doesn’t necessarily have to be a defenseman I don’t think but somebody similar age similar you know skill set draft status Etc uh that they can kind of put back into their system that they think will help them out of course year check’s looking for a fresh start and they’re trying to best to accommodate the player here obviously he hasn’t quite been given a lot of opportunities so far but year Che as much as he’s known as a creative offensive uh defenseman with good hockey IQ there is concerns over his mobility and his skating that is something that can easily be worked on with the amount of skating coaches and things that teams have access to today I think there’s going to be lots of teams out there willing to take a chance on this guy uh number of teams that are reportedly in the mix on year Che include the Minnesota Wild the Pittsburgh Penguins the Nashville Predators the San Jose sherck and some think even to some degree the Buffalo Sabres I think the Sabres are a little less likely but they are in there uh According to some so there’s like five or six teams there could be a few one or two others that we haven’t heard of either there always seems to be um but like I said teams are looking for that you know first round caliber similar age kind of prospect now it’s believed that amongst the teams I just mentioned that the Pittsburgh Penguins and Kyle dubis highly covet David Yack uh it’s quite possible they will make a big push here and they might end up being the team to land this player hard to say but uh Rob Rossy of the athletic is reporting that DUIs is quite high on this player and has made it known to the Blue Jackets that all of their prospects would be made available um in a year check trade now it’s believed that it’s probably going to be a one for one uh if the prospect is strong enough or it’s going to end up being the prospect that the Blue Jackets lik and maybe like a mid- round pick or something that’s probably what the deal is going to end up being um and or if it’s not a prospect it could be a you know a a player who’s in the NHL but doesn’t have a lot of experience so that’s possible as well CU we don’t really label them as prospects anymore once they’ve gotten a decent amount of games under their belt but you know for the Penguins and D duas to say all of our prospects would be made available for this type of trade and that does include ruer mordy who they recently acquired of course from Winnipeg for Braden Jagger of course Rucker mordi former first-rounder himself who W on a winter Peg ended up to Pittsburgh which I believe the Penguins were his team growing up that he cheered for if I’m not mistaken I he’s quite happy to be there but you know the rumor around mordy was that he wanted NHL minutes uh in playing time and that the Jets weren’t willing to guarantee that for him which is why he decided that it wasn’t the right place for him that he wanted out he kind of pulled a similar stunt to Cutter goce who’s one of his best friends and did sort of the same stunt with the Philadelphia Flyers which is why they cut bait and traded him to the Ducks for J Dale uh now of course mordi started the season in Pittsburgh they gave him his opportunity and it wasn’t long before they sent him to the miners seeing that he’s not producing he’s not ready for this role so clearly that you know is something that um I think they probably had I don’t know if they’re having regrets I wouldn’t say that but certainly for mordi kind of you know didn’t look good the fact that he fussed so much for this and then couldn’t handle it um but at the same time they’re willing to make him available kind of says something doesn’t mean that they don’t like him anymore it doesn’t mean that they’ve soured on him but it just means they might like year ja better uh and they might feel that he might be a better fit for them obviously you know right shot defenseman that have high offensive uh capabilities don’t grow on trees they’re hard to get uh year check that that was drafted six overall just two years ago and by many thought that he could have been maybe drafted even a little bit higher there was something that thought that might have been a a good pickup and a good steal for the jackets at that position so we will see lots of people were talking last night including Frank s Valley saying they were kind of convinced that it could go down as early as last night of course it did not nothing has happened so far yet today no guarantee that it happens tonight but it sounds like it’s getting close and pretty good chance it happens sometime in the next few days where he ends up like I said it’s those five teams I mentioned the wild pens PRS sharks and sabes are the main ones getting the uh attention in the rumor mill but there there’s bound to be some others that kind of pop up here and and U maybe surpris us with a good offer and we’ll see I would throw Utah in the mix myself too I know with all the injuries they’ve got on their blue line wouldn’t be shocked but they do have some good young Prospect D coming besides the ones already in NHL 2 so they may not jump at that opportunity hard to say some other rumors around the NHL I want to take a look at one in Toronto there was some Talk Amongst Toronto media I seen I believe if I’m not mistaken I think it was on the SB sdpn podcast they were talking about Nick Robertson and the fact that you know obviously Robertson was holding out in the off season you know I wanted to trade they didn’t give it to him they wanted him to stay I think they they kind of still believed that he could work there in Toronto and could be productive and I think they were concerned which they should be about moving a young player that they regret and having him see that success somewhere else well obviously at this point that hasn’t happened in Toronto he hasn’t been traded and he hasn’t had the success in Toronto he’s got more opportunity and at this point considering all the forward injuries they’ve gotten he’s still not getting consistent top six minutes if you can’t put him in the top six consistently when you’re that depleted then what are you doing he’s not going to flourish in a bottom six rle maybe you should just cut bait and get a mid- round pick and move on because his value is not going to go up at this point if he doesn’t start to produce and then you start produce the team’s not going to want to move them it’s kind of funny how that works right and then you know you’re never going to have a situation where the value skyrockets and you can sell high and move on so you know I kind of agree with this the sentiment here that if Robert can’t flourish in a depleted lineup I’m not sure when the opportunity is going to come he had a pretty decent year last year I thought he could build off it wanted a fresh start you know I think part of that was because of how things were handled under Sheldon Keefe and then of course he sees bu Ruby come in you know I don’t I think he may probably had the Assumption bu Ruby wasn’t going to be a fan of his because he normally likes bigger stronger players and Robertson of course is undersized but can shoot the puck and be a good scorer at least he’s shown that on occasion it’s a matter of building that consistency so we’ll see what happens but obviously some Bel that maybe the Leafs might want to just cut bit cuz when if they get everybody healthy later in the year they’re going to have a ton of options CU they’ve uh obviously especially with the signing of Alex neander like they’ve got a lot of guys in the forward group they’re going to have no choice but to move some or end up losing some on waiver so we’ll see where that goes and of course the big bomb that came yesterday was Elliott Freeman talking about their New York Rangers and making some veterans available like Jacob trouba and Chris krider uh of course in the last 24 hours since then uh lots of talk about where these players might end up going if they do pull off trades there’s belief and it’s come from enough sources that Chris jury absolutely will um you know kind of shock this team here and send the shock wave to it by making a major deal they’re not happy with it there’s reports that there’s tension around the team tension around the room it’s hard to imagine that it’s going to be tough on Jacob trouba at this point to be carrying that se on his chest when there’s all these rumors in the summer and now they’re surfacing only 20 games into the season about the fact that they want to get rid of them that that’s got to be aough role for him and tough for the room you have to think right um so I know when it comes to Chris kryder and Jacob trba they both have a modified no trade they can both block basically half the league um hard to say they both have a good salary as well kryder has a lot more terms so again no guarantee that either guy moves because it’s going to be complicated if it does uh krider that the teams that were kind of getting the most attention on social media amongst the fan bases are Boston and buffalo Buffalo’s looking for a top six of course it’s still in the state of New York so but mind you there’s a big gap between New York City and buffalo I even even though it’s the same state it’s not really that close at all I I know some people make that connection saying oh he wouldn’t even have to leave the state yeah but it’s still quite a few hours away it’s not like it’s uh you know going down the street or going from like you know Long Island to Jersey or something like that um which is obviously much closer but you know U kryder to Boston or Buffalo I think to me he would be a ruin him that would be a homecoming uh for him um honestly I think he would be the kind of player that they would need we know that Don sweing came Neely have already fired her coach the next move if they’re going to if their team doesn’t start and it has had a good couple of games under Joe Sao but if they decide that they really need to an infusion of something kryder makes a ton of sense now of course what would they give back is the big question that’s the only thing I’m having trouble with I’m thinking if they did do that maybe it’s a goly Brandon Carlo do they really need Carlo with today no but if they did find a way to move trouba then maybe you get another righty coming in like Carlo changes up your Decor mix he’s a good size right shot D more defensive minded different bit of a style than trouba but still you know might be a replacement I don’t know that’s just my thoughts like trouba um you know obviously we’ll talk about him in a second but like you know krider per Carlo I know I’m not really sure I mean Carlo’s much younger I’m not sure if that works but it’s just something along the lines of you know something that could be out there know crder like for all the teams that are being linked to him right now the Bruins seem to be getting the most attention and Sabers fans are talking about the fact that we know that they’re looking to add scoring and add a top six and he would be technically a good fit I just I’m not sure that that deal gets done but the Bruins would make a lot of sense I just besides Brandon Carlo I don’t know what they could give to to make it happen unless they decided they wanted to move zadorov who hasn’t really worked out right I mean they have defenseman there that could work for the rang ERS now if Marty be wrong of course former Ranger himself hockey analyst uh great smart go tender who we you know a lot of people know well from his commentary and analysts around the NHL for many years now since he’s been retired uh he was talking and doing an interview on BPM Sports saying that he thinks Montreal if knowing that trouba’s available should be all over now we don’t know which teams are on these guys list of Trades that they can teams they can block so it’s difficult to say exactly who would they could go to without trouble and and who they could block right we know the answer to that question but Bon says that that the Habs should be all over trouba and that if he were them he would offer Arbor Jacky so Jacky for trouba I mean we know Jacky is the the big tough defenseman trouba is the same kind of build except he comes with a lot more experience shoots right instead of left different age group of course we know Jacky’s had a fair share of struggles defensively you know it might be a way to kind of mix some more veteran leadership in with the you know the youth kind of going out I mean it’s not a perfect deal I mean they’re both big physical defenseman like I said very different uh ages obviously very different contracts um you know obviously not a lot of term left on trouba’s contract they’d have to eat some money for sure um Montreal you know had some flexibility because of the LTI air pool they have to work with but it’s an interesting concept I mean I’m not sure that Jacob trouba would be thrilled about going to Montreal he played in Canada before you know wasn’t that really didn’t want to stay but I I don’t know that that was specific that not liking Canada or not liking winter Peg I can’t really comment on that I just know he really wanted to go to New York but that also had a lot to do with his wife’s profession and the fact she was going to be going there for medical residency so I’m not sure really how he feels about it we know he was on his way to Detroit but blocked it wanted to stay in New York so you know Detroit would be more like a homecoming for him being from Michigan so uh Again difficult to say where things go but krider and trouba are very much out there and you got to think that with this kind of getting leaked out from the Rangers that obviously there has to be just might be awkward around this team like I said and there’s other reports saying that there’s tension and jury really wants to change things up so will we see something significant it would certainly shock the hockey world it would certainly make things fun to talk about so let me know what you think what should the Rangers do can they contend with this team a lot of people don’t think they can after losing the Florida last year it kind of became obvious that there would still be a really good team if they run it back but without something more significant they’re probably not going to be a cup Contender so let me know what you think and we’ll talk about further down in the comments if you’re new to the channel make sure you subscribe and stick around we’ll keep you up to date with all the news rumors and annalysis of all 32 NHL teams thanks for watching I’ll catch you next time [Music]
