we’ve had a significant day of NHL rumors we want to discuss here tonight Elliot Freeman Dropped a Bomb on the NHL Community earlier today acknowledging that the New York Rangers may be looking for a significant shakeup and drop some big names like krider and tro we’ll discuss how things could play out in New York plus there’s more word of Ottawa with another injury mounting on the back end that they could be looking for a significant upgrade on the right shot defense maybe left shot defense as well and there’s some core players that could maybe be involved as Steve stos looks to get this team back on track plus we have news from the NHL waiver wire several updates on the injury front and roster moves plus another update from the 2018 World Junior Championship players that are facing trial coming this spring all that plus a coaching change that might be coming in Detroit and his Coach Q the potential replacement coming up next so welcome back to another video here at Top Shelf hockey as I mentioned we have a ton of information to go over here today lots of NHL uh trade rumors lots of injury updates lots of key things here that everybody needs to get caught up on so let’s first start uh with news from the NHL waiver wire we found out yesterday that the Ottawa Senators plac rugged forward Zack mccuan on waivers we found out this afternoon that he did in fact clear uh so mccuan can and will be reassigned to the American Hockey League’s Belleville Senators that allows the sends to make a couple of additional roster moves uh because they are dealing with some injuries uh plus they wanted to shake up the forward group a little bit on top of that uh so with the Senators they found out today as well that ardam zuo is dealing with a fractured foot and is going to be out for a period of time they didn’t give a definite timeline but a while is all head coach Travis Green gave us if you look at the clips of the last game when they were playing the Vancouver kxs there was a point I can’t remember exactly what period is in but I remember seeing the play where Zub had a puck um block from a shot from the point go off his skate and up and out of play and from what people are gathering that likely was the point where um where it happened however he played through the rest of the game so really wasn’t something that was top of mind for fans and probably for the uh the team as well but he does have a fractured foot going to be out a number of weeks um this is zub’s second significant absence already in the season and we’re only 20 games in so clearly Zu is a big part of the back end a huge part of the stabilizing front allowing guys like Sanderson and Shabbat to be more uh you know offensive minded more of the the Risk Takers if you will the terrific skaters the puck movers whereas guys like Zu and Jensen are more of the you know your stay-at-home guys that kind of stabilize things and they’ve been pretty good for the most part but not having Zu in a lineup for multiple games has caused issues and the sends are going to be looking to address that we’ll talk about that a little bit later in the video but for now zub’s out they’ve called up Zach ostapchuk and Cole Reinhardt both I would imagine are probably going to be in the lineup tonight as they have the Amazon Prime game on Monday night against the Calgary Flames coming up by the time this hits YouTube probably right around the start of the game maybe early in the first period hard to say but with mchan being dropped down between a stop trer Reinhardt one of the two are going to play for sure I would suggest probably o stop CH and I do wonder if both get in a lineup I wonder if a guy like a Nick cousins or somebody might get pulled out hard to say we’ll find out as a little bit closer to game time the s’s definitely looking to shake things up there a little bit other injury updates Vegas tonight is going to be without William Carlson uh who’s out for personal reasons uh they’re also going to be without defenseman Zack White Cloud uh White Cloud is considered day-to-day uh with an injury so maybe not out too long but we’ll get more updates further along there uh the Avalanche dealing with another injury to Jonathan Jura who remains out of course he already had an extended absence and just got back not too long ago and he’s out again so that’s certainly bad news for the Avalanche but at least they’re not so depleted at this time a couple updates out on Montreal one Patrick Lon continues to practice and he got rid of the no contact Jersey he was a full contact player in today’s practice but Marty say we urge fans to not get too excited just yet that he’s not likely going to play this weekend or this week um they do have a couple of games through the week and games on the weekend the weekend games are more likely at this point but until they’ve had a couple of practices with contact it’s difficult to P pinpoint the exact game that he’s going to play but he will be um he’s getting close and he’ll be in the lineup soon but probably a couple more games uh before that happens and they have recalled Joshua wall as well so Joshua w will get another shot here after not having a a great training camp get another shot at grabbing a spot in the lineup and Lucas Konda has been set back to the American Hockey League the Hurricanes as we know are going to be looking to make some moves they’re dealing with another goalie injury uh kov is in concussion protocol according to head coach rod brymore and of course with concussions there’s no exact timelines um so we don’t know how long he’s going to be out but he is out for at least a little while uh the Hurricanes also sent Tyson Jose back to the American Hockey League so for right now the canes are going to be relying heavily on Spencer Martin who’s their number three and they’ve got Pet’s I believe called up to be his backup for right now um but yeah they’ll have to be looking at some other options here uh the couple options here with the New York Rangers Chris krider will not be in the lineup tonight he is dealing with an upper body injuries considered day-to-day they’ve also recalled Matt Ry and Brett barard is also up at the club and Brett barard will be making his NHL debut uh so that’s good for him after putting in lots of time uh the Penguins today announced that the former first-rounder Sam pulan has been sent back to the American Hockey League uh so he’s been downgraded uh the Canucks are getting closer to having Brock besser back he looked good in practice uh today uh but he doesn’t appear to be 100% ready but he is in a full contact Jersey so the no contact is gone he’s getting closer and will be likely in the lineup sometime in the next couple of games uh the Oilers today confirmed with head coach Chris noblock that Zack Heyman and Victor arson are both going to be out for about another week and they will miss a minimum of about two games each in the Anaheim Ducks that I also confirmed that Mason McTavish who’s been out for a few games is back and he has been activated from injured reserve so those are all your updates actually one more Detroit is going to be without Patrick Kane tonight he’s not going to be in the lineup and is considered day today Patrick Kane certainly not having quite the season this year like he did last year when he first joined the Red Wings late into last year’s campaign he produced on a point per game clip and so far this year he’s producing at about half of that so I’m sure over time he’ll pick things up I mean he looked so good last year it’s hard to Envision such a a sharp decline this year but overall he’s not the only one on the team I think it’s uh you know lots of other factors in there but obviously missing time won’t help but maybe it’ll give him a little bit of a rest and reset that he needs to uh to get things back on track when he comes back uh some other updates around the NHL here today as well we got an update on the trial that we’re waiting for for the 2018 World Junior players that are obviously accused of some heinous crimes from their 2018 World Championship party that took place in London Ontario in the summer of 2018 uh obviously those players um you not in NHL anymore uh none of them are um most of them are not even playing hockey at all there is I think that one that might be under contract in KHL but uh they did have a court date today they’re not required during pre-trial hearings to appear but three out of five did appear today it’s the first time I believe since uh at least I think since all the pre-trial stuff got going they were actually there with their legal counsels um we had uh Michael McLoud Alex foron and Dylan dubet all showed up uh with their legal counsil to be present uh foot and heart were not present for today’s hearings um and of course these pre-trial hearings are expected to last for about 3 weeks approximately and of course right now the trial has been set to April the 22nd so it seems like it’s going to be a long time but it’ll probably go by quick enough here that just as the NHL regular season’s coming to an end their trial will be getting underway now if we talk about coaching changes we’ve seen two of them here recently in Boston and St Louis one of those definitely affected the other the other name that we keep hearing as far as guys that might be on the hot seat is Detroit Red Wings and derck lone now typically this is not really the kind of behavior you would think out of Steve Eiserman look at how patient he was with Jeff blel incredibly patient he probably held on the blel for about two years longer than most of the fan base wanted um but that’s just how iserman goes he understands uh that you know it’s not all on the coach and it’s you know obviously the roster and the players have to take a br of the uh you know for the reasonings for why things don’t go well right so ultimately here um but there is there’s still some speculation that you know things are different now uh obviously during that blel era it was very early in the rebuild um and that they want to get better results right now that’s not happening and that lone might be a casualty we’ll have to wait and see but ESPN and Greg rinsky is reporting that there has been some chatter about Coach Q Joel Glenville maybe being a candidate there if they decide to make a change uh now you got to keep in mind quinnville would have connections to some of the team’s top players like der Bret and Keane um so obviously some familiarity with those guys and you know Alex debrett is a player that’s expected to be an important member of the Red Wings for an extended time here so clearly he played his best hockey with um under that coach in the past doesn’t necessarily mean that quinnville was a direct you know reason for it he was obviously uh you know in a good spot with good linemates good teammates uh different situation altogether but at the end of the day there’s familiarity there uh you know he’s uh one of the top winning his coaches have been trying to get back into the game he’s got consent from the NHL to do so now and we’ll have to keep our eye on that situation I don’t know how likely it is that we’ll see a coaching change as I mentioned before I understand based on the results that why people would say that you know there could be some pressure there and that maybe a change is imminent but I just remember how patient Eiserman has been during his 10 years a general manager and part of me would be a little bit surprised but then again maybe there’s more pressure from ownership to get something done and we’ll maybe see it more than we more than we think now as I mentioned earlier the canes are dealing with another go tending injury that’s Freddy Anderson out for an extended time and now we’re GNA have Co coov out with a concussion uh which we don’t know how long that’s going to be um the Carolina Hurricanes are definitely according to NHL Insiders on scouring the market now doesn’t mean that they’re going to make a big trade for a big name they might but it’s more likely than not that they’d probably find you know a veteran on a short-term contract who could come in and just be a stabilizing for course now they very well will probably try to write things out here a little bit be patient they have Spencer Martin you know they’ll kind of probably wait and see how the next few days go here with kov I’d be surprised if we get like a really like you know really quick Trigger action here I don’t think that’s going to be the case but you never know uh there has been some links of the Hurricanes to a guy like John Gibson though in Anaheim uh with Anderson being out so long if they feel like whoever they bring in as an upgrade over Martin they could run with Gibson or whomever and kov as the Tandem and then have Anderson come back late in the season as like your bonus goalie but it could create cap problems as well especially if that goalie like Gibson is making you know a more significant amount of money than like you know somebody on a one-year deal at a million or less uh you know that doesn’t complicate things quite so much here but the Hurricane’s definitely looking at the goalie Market seeing what’s out there and we’ll have to wait and see what happens now of course as I mentioned uh lots of talk about the otot Senators here in recent days we talked about last night how there’s been some reports that they could be making a you know I don’t want how to describe it but you know a core shakeup type of trait uh this team has again had a bad November for I don’t know how many years in a row uh and find themselves on the outside looking in once again you can tell the frustration is setting in they have a huge game tonight against the Calgary Flames and to be honest winning solves everything I think they win tonight and that maybe the trade chatter calms down a bit cuz then they going on a road trip and they’re facing a bunch of teams that they really should be able to win uh and if they can duplicate what we’ve seen the Buffalo Sabers do through California you know what they’ll be right back in it and things will probably calm down but with a zuo injury it’s definitely complicating things on the blue line you got Zub out now Tyler cevin had a few rough games lately the he’s a young defenseman with a ton of potential had a good start to the year and I know I debated with a few people in the comment section like I’ve seen every minute of their season so far and to be honest I really like CL and he’s big he’s physical there’s lots to like about his future but in the last two or three games he’s had numerous bad uh decisions that have led to goals against whether it be dzone coverage bad pinches like it’s really easy if you look at the goals against there’s a number of them that he’s a big reason why they happened so again it’s one of those scenarios where I think the team would probably wish they had a veteran guy that could come in and kind of take the pressure off clevin you know what maybe clevin takes a game or two out as a reset it doesn’t hurt young players to do that sometimes look at the Flyers just did it with Matt Bay mitkov even a player of that caliber is getting that same kind of treatment it would not be bad but the problem is the sends don’t have depth because of their cap situation so they need to figure out a way to improve the depth of the decor the Zub injury complicates things obviously so now the trade talk out of Ottawa is that Steve stos is looking hard at the market for help on the blue line but I would suspect that it’s probably going to be a right shot not a left shot theoretically clevin is healthy he can play they’re going to probably need him to play through those struggles and to work on getting better without taking him out of the lineup but you still have Shabbat and Sanderson on that left side you now have jbd and Travis hammeck on the right uh you have obviously Nick Jensen you don’t need to bring in somebody immediately but you take Zub out of that mix and that right side suddenly looks a fair bit weaker so I’m not sure who they’re going to be able to Target here clearly the problem is with their cap situation uh once they demote um mchu into the miners after clearing waivers today they’re only going to have just a little shy of 1.5 million like4 or something like that they’re going to have an available space that’s not a big amount of money it’s going to have to be something is going to have to come off the roster money in Money out now the money coming in might be able to be a little more than the money going out but not drastically more so it’s hard to say kind of what they might Target here I really don’t know but they’re definitely looking for the blue line I know uh Bruce gck had mentioned earlier today in an article again from last night that he’s also hearing Rumblings that they’re considering a trade to shake up the core Frank Sur valy on his DFO Show run today um made mention that he’s hearing from League Executives that they are having some trade conversations about a core trade to shake things up and that Josh Norris’s name keeps coming up doesn’t mean they’re going to trade Norris but I think at the very least they’re kind of you know having some conversations just to see what’s out there and it’s just a kind of their options uh I think ideally they’d rather have the players improve their play and kind of play their way out of it and not do anything drastic cuz I think overall they like their team but sometimes it don’t matter if you like your team or not if they’re not getting the job done you have to make a change it’s just that simple so you know could we see a a significant deal of a Norris for a top right-and defenseman that wouldn’t be shocking I know a name that comes to mind is McKenzie weager who’s visiting the end tonight I don’t know that the Flames really want to make any trades to subtract right now clearly they’re in a situation where they’re doing well doing better than expected they’re winning do do they really want to do that I know the Suns would probably love weager but again don’t know we talked before about Eric Carlson but that’s very complicated from a contract standpoint Nostalgia wise it’s a nice thought but again how in the heck do you make that work and is he really the right fit anymore um so I’m not really sure who they go after but the suns are scouring for defense and there’s some chatter around Norris if they do make a core trade that he might be the guy that they’re kind of shopping around so we’ll see and what happens here but the sends definitely need to do something and winning solves everything but the big bomb that we got today from Elliot Freeman about the New York Rangers uh the Rangers got a pretty decent record but are they where they want to be no they have pretty high expectations so even though you can have a winning record you can be in a playoff spot doesn’t mean you’re happy and Chris jury and the Rangers are not happy especially after taking a 62 thumping to the Edmonton Oilers the other night at Edmonton uh so then basically what Elliot had to say was in the aftermath of that loss uh things have been made very very clear that they are interested in making moves and shaking up the roster and he specifically named drops Chris krider and Jacob trouba has names that been out there and indicated that they’re willing to move those players but they’re not the only ones other names are out there as well I mean you have to think to some degree on because of a contract maybe a Ryan lingren maybe a cako you know to some degree those deals would kind of make sense as well um yeah I mean now trouba and Kidder both have a modified no trade where they can block like half the league so again hard to say where you could end up now to me when I think of these players we know that the Rangers tried hard to move Jacob trouba in the summer and he did everything he could to block it and now here we are already thinking it was going to probably be next summer when it happens cuz he’d be down to one year left on his contract be a lot easier to do and from a personal standpoint we know trouba’s wife obviously works as a medical in a in a medical residency in New York they don’t want to uproot the family they don’t want to move uh they want to wait until she’s through her part of her career so they can kind of do this in steps and the the team might be getting impatient here I’m not sure how this is going to go um because you know trouba is going to do what he can but of course at this point his team list would be submitted and they need to figure out who’s on it and who’s not I’m not sure where trouba could go the main team that wanted him was Detroit we’ve got enough confirmation now to know that iserman and the Red Wings were very much down for taking on Jacob trouba and it for whatever reason did not work out I think largely due to the fact that trouba blocked the deal I think things leaked out too far ahead he knew about it to adjust his no trade list and block the Red Wings that’s my understanding of the situation and I believe that’s what went down um so he’s not going to be able to go to Detroit cuz you know Eiserman if he had a chance to for a redo on that I’d suspect he’d still be interested but unless trouba waves and I don’t think anything would change from him from a personal standpoint I’d be shocked if he didn’t block Detroit because that’s our understanding of what happened before now with all that said I’m not sure where else he could really go or who else would want to take him on uh clearly you know he’s got a $8 million contract money would have to be retained it would be complicated and I just don’t know now Chris kryder’s got an extra year on his contract um so a little bit more term he’s got nine goals on the season you know some teams that come to mind know about Cryder one for me and I don’t I’m not suggesting these teams are talking but the Boston Bruins is a perfect fit I think for Chris kryder if the Rangers are serious about it now I’m not sure what the Bruins would give the Rangers back maybe if they do move trouba maybe it’s a Brandon Carlo there’s been lots of talk about him could a Carlo for kryder deal help both clubs I’m not sure um but I said obviously the Rangers would need to move trouba and that I don’t know about trouba going to Bost I don’t know that that’s a fit I mean it’d be complicated it could be a massive trade if they were both in the same deal um not saying for sure that they would be I I really don’t know right but the fact that the Rangers are actively shopping krider and trouba you know to get it out there like is is private as the Rangers have been with their leaks and stuff you have to think that there’s you know a lot to this now after Elliot Freeman dropped this bomb on everybody he’s not the only one other sources and other reporters have gone out done some digging and they’ve been able to confirm the same thing like Vince merco Gano uh he said he checked with a lot of Ranger sour as who he covers a team and he he was told the same thing he said they’re they’re definitely interested in making a big splash on the trade market and he’s hearing that the same names are out there so again more confirmation not to Elliott needs it but you know those names those players are definitely out there they have at this point at least not been linked to specific teams um some wondered too if it might be a case of you know cuz Savannah jz’s not having his greatest season either him and kryder are great linemates great friends uh Zan would probably be been devastated if kryder got traded you know is this an opportunity for them to kind of leak things publicly to kind of ignite the team make them want to stay together and improve their play to some degree that could be part of it too uh some things when times when things get leaks out you know you know kind of wonder where it came from what’s the motive behind it you know is this really just a case of a reporter with digging and found some stuff or did the team accidentally or purposely leak stuff out to kind of you know light a fire in their own house type of deal so we’ll see what happens but the Rangers they’re very much actively looking for something substantial here uh with big names out there like trouba and kryder you got to wonder what could be coming here for the Rangers we’ve heard Lots as well like I said lingren name has been up there to a mild degree kandre Miller a little bit they need to sign Miller so it’s either trade him or sign him um koo’s Future’s been ended up for a while of course you get the big eigor shurin contract extension you got to wonder is that coming we’ve had numerous times Ranger reporters have been kind of teasing us that something big was coming from the Rangers but it made it sound like a signing on a trade so you got to wonder what the Intel is and what’s accurate for what’s been leaked out but either way crazy time with the Rangers they’re a winning Club but obviously they have higher aspirations than what they’re achieving right now and they want to get ahead of things by the sounds of it so let me know your thoughts on the New York Rangers Ottawa Senators Carolina Hurricanes all looking for some substantial IAL moves here what might we see here in the coming days and weeks ahead as these teams trying to jockey for better position and improve their clubs let me know your thoughts on all the today’s news or Rumors in the comments we’ll discuss further if you’re new to the channel of course make sure you subscribe stick around this best place to keep your up to date on all the NHL news and rumors around the league thanks for
