welcome back all right news of the day video for all you find people on the internet for your Monday December the 16th uh starting off with waiver news out of Minnesota Deon shore on waivers today the only player on waivers I think he probably clears unless there’s a team out there who has a player um in the bottom six they feel like Devon sha would be better than but I I can’t speak for other GMS I think sh probably clears probably ends up getting set down uh but we shall see uh three stars of the week this week uh Leon dry SLE of the admond sers th the dry cidal Jersey is your number one star three games three goals six assists nine points for dry sital this week those numbers are very good Nathan McKinnon second on the list three games four goals five assists nine points McKinnon’s been excellent for Colorado and Lena somark uh who is really recovered after a slow start now uh 3 and0 record 967 safe percentage for olark with Ottawa and he did have the one shut out very nearly had two and so yeah olark has in I think he he just had the one this week I don’t think he’s had two this week but either way 3 and 0967 safe percentage those numbers are fantastic and that’s what they were hoping for when they picked him up from Boston and then when they sent him to that extension so he is playing up to both the trade and the extension at this point for the Ottawa Senators uh injury news uh Marcus Pon of the Pittsburgh Penguins uh dealing with a lower body injury He’s listed as week to week he’s been the subject of a lot of trade rumors and uh keep in mind that trade trade rumors are out there all the time all the time all the time and every time that somebody in the media speaks about hey I think maybe just asked the Vancouver market today about Elliott fredman and uh as soon as somebody speculates well what if a team did this then that’s out there then it’s okay so if this trade happens who do you think wins it’s ridiculous but Peterson’s name has been tied to trade rumors uh him being injured right now probably cools those down at least until after the roster freeze is done we’ll talk about the roster freeze at the end of this video but Pittsburgh uh a team that’s been pretty good lately it might pull Pon off of the trade block if in fact he was there at all cuz I haven’t seen anything that traces back to Pittsburgh necessarily it’s just all been rumor and speculation at this point which I try not to do on this channel I really do uh stars is on the injured reserve for Toronto they put them on there yesterday when they called up hild Toby uh and there’s apparently an update coming in the next couple of days so it could be today or tomorrow maybe the next day we’ll get some sort of an update with stolar who’s having an amazing year for the Toronto Maple Leafs and having him out of the lineup for any period of time is going to be tough but last night H Tobe looked R8 after a bit of a shaky start and we know wo can play pretty well too uh Wall’s numbers have been good this year so for stolar it does give him a bit of of of breathing room where he should be able to come back when he’s healthy and ready rather than feeling that pressure to come back early uh so we’re almost into that quarter century mark right so we’re going to hit 2025 and in a couple weeks time here and so between December 30th and January 31st the NHL is going to announce the quarter Century teams for each franchise which includes Utah are they an expansion team or not because I saw Utah in the calendar and I’m thinking wouldn’t their team if they’re if they’re an inaugural firste team wouldn’t it just be the roster wouldn’t that be the most anti-climactic reveal ever and their quarter Century team is we didn’t think this through it’s their current team bye every every body like I don’t I don’t know are they going to include Arizona players cuz Arizona is technically deactivated inactive I can’t figure this league out uh so yeah we’ll see if the Utah quarter Century team includes players who played with Arizona in the 2000s uh it changes dramatically when you include the Arizona players who played in that team from 2000 until now so we’ll see what they do uh and if you want to vote of your own uh between February 12th and 26 there will be a fan vote to name the top 25 players of the first 25 years of the 21st century so that way we have something to fight about and argue about on the internet endlessly there will be Arguments for a long time when the NHL announced the top 100 players in NHL history in 2017 there were a lot of arguments about players that were left off especially malcin so look for the NHL’s you know top 25 players or the the the quarter Century teams when they get announced uh to have some omissions that people are like wait what why why isn’t this player in there so yeah uh let me know your thoughts regarding that are you going to vote on it are you excited to see who the quarter Century teams what they look like um I mean I’m I’m mildly interested to see who they are I’m not going to do videos on my own of who I would put on those teams because I think my team’s going to end up looking very similar to what the NHL’s version would be so but let me know your thoughts in the comment section below um Buffalo News and I I feel bad because I just did the video on Buffalo and and it does sometimes feel like you’re just dumping on a fan base that doesn’t need that so that’s why when I did the buffalo video today I tried to do it a little different approach it from a different angle and and try to you know discuss it just from from in in a different manner right so the owner comes in today and has a a closed door meeting with the players they did cancel the the practice they were going to have today which could have indicated something was coming but it’s not um the owner telling them he believes that the issue is going to get fixed by guys from within the room that the answers are there he also apparently told the team that he believes in GM Kevin Adams so there’s no change coming there he believes in Lindy Ruff which makes sense they just hired Ruff uh and no big trades are coming and part of this could be that Kevin Adams has been working the phones the roster freeze is on the way and he may just not be able to make a move before the roster freeze so we’ll see when the roster freeze is done if there’s going to be some trades including the Buffalo Savers but apparently the Faith from the owner is on the players in the room and if you’re watching this and you’re going but why um I I think they’re kind of holding on to the idea that this was a team that was in a playoff spot a few weeks ago and if you say the right things if you do the right things with this roster maybe they can get back to that uh there their confidence to me just looks like it’s it’s gone like that’s the way I see it they get leads here and there they look good at times but as soon as things start to roll the other way they’re like well I guess we suck um the the example I always use is from water boy you know when oh now the water boy is not playing oh no we suck again and and it’s just it’s how quickly that changes from we’re going to win to a we suck and it feels like that’s the case when the Sabres are on the ice they’re playing well pucko in the net ah there we go we’re done uh and apparently Kevin Adams referred to today as a chance for a fresh start I don’t know that you can have a Fresh Start in the middle of a road trip uh during a a a windless skid I don’t know that the Fresh Start Line’s going to work hopefully it does I’d love to see Buffalo go on a run from here in the right direction not running away from the playoffs but running towards the game they have tomorrow is in Montreal and maybe telling the players that no trades are coming that you know everybody’s staying maybe that helps we’ll see we’ll see uh this has been going on for a long time in Buffalo uh Calgary news uh vladar and kusenko returned to practice today uh both of them are seen as dayto day vladar having a good season he had a rough time the the last game out but he’s having a good season kzo has been struggling just the one goal so far and he’s been a healthy scratch of points this year as well for Calgary so hopefully both of them are back in the lineup soon and hopefully kuso starts putting some goals in the net because without those goals in the net um yeah kuso’s place in the lineup becomes a little bit tenuous at that point uh Jake Allen is traveling with the Devils uh he could start tomorrow against the St Louis Blues there’s that chance and he has a history obviously with St Louis so it makes some sense uh Allen his status was up in the air it seems right until they got on the plane as Nico do had been seen as a possibility that they’d called him up and he might be traveling with the team just in case but he’s been reassigned to udica as has polter polter was called up a couple of times uh as the backup to markstrom so this means markstrom shouldn’t be playing every game from here on but uh it it does give New Jersey a chance to have da and polter down in the uh the AHL playing for UDA who hopefully uh get their season on track and New Jersey’s having a good season and getting Allen back definitely helps with that as well uh so Vegas continues to do this kind of thing I’ve reported on this it doesn’t feel like it was that long ago but what are days anymore so I have no idea how long it’s actually been but members of the Vegas organization spent the weekend in Arizona putting on five on ice hockey clinics and one ball hockey Clinic as well these are great these are great and having that infrastructure in Arizona is important uh for kids coming up and playing hockey and then you’re turning those young players into hockey fans and or keeping people as hockey fans in Arizona even though the coyotes have left uh Vegas is trying to stake their their territory they feel that Arizona that’s that’s going to be their market now that there aren’t the coyotes Utah has been looking at that market as well as one that they feel like they can they can get some fans from because of course they have the former coyotes uh but getting these clinics done as Vegas has done this past weekend and have been doing as well uh I did talk last week about Vegas and what they’ve been doing locally in order to you know encourage more kids to play street hockey and in which is my term for ball hockey I know ball hockey is the term that gets used more than the street hockey but when I was a kid we just we we’d play on the street uh at any rate it was literally street hockey so at any rate uh I think Vegas is doing a really good job with what they’re doing for uh for kids and for creating new hockey players and hockey fans that’s important it’s something I’ve tried to do with this channel as well over the last eight plus years and I I I so I I think it’s great that Vegas is doing that good on them so the NHL roster freeze which I’ve talked about a couple of times in this video it starts midnight on Thursday midnight I believe being eastern time and it extends until midnight Eastern Time on December the 28th so from then from th between those times you can’t wave anybody uh you can’t make any trades and you can bring players up and send players down but not not wave them so it it’s just it’s it’s basically a way of making sure the players aren’t concerned with getting traded like two days before Christmas or day after Christmas that kind of thing uh gives them just some peace of mind for for a couple weeks time and I I I think it’s a a good thing that the NHL has in place and so there might be some trades this week as teams want to beat that roster freeze but it feels like that’s calmed down a little bit that you know Colorado gets their goenda has made some moves this year but it feels like that’s calmed down a little bit that being said the Cam Fowler trade it felt like came out of nowhere the trouba trade all of a sudden took place so maybe so we’ll see let me know your thoughts in the
