hyund Drive of the game really was amazing could have been the play and plays of the game because they got the ball and took off the final 1029 the clock 18% of the game 18% was 18% of the game one drive longest drive they’ve had now the NFL only started tracking drives in 2001 it’s their longest drive since then um and the longest drive by any NFL team to run out the clock in that period they started what what yard line they started the three three ydd line got knocked back to the two after a penalty so technically a 97 yard drive but they went 98 yards 98 yards there you go 21 doesn’t include penalties but yeah it was a masterpiece and the good thing about it it they weren’t just running I mean like usually when you have a long drive like that you’re just kind of running the ball Jaylen was 5 for seven for 74 yards on that drive um and three three for four on third down and the one they didn’t get they converted on fourth down now so it was a masterpiece head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles Nick serani post game at the podium I’ve had it what you think the passing that was pretty good yeah it was pretty good um I thought Jaylen did a great job of taking what the defense gave him um you know getting a ball to our you know had 200 yard receivers I always think that’s cool when that happens uh and Jaylen was in complete control um you know just just another good another good day by him um yeah good you said repeatedly that you guys will be able to throw the ball when you need to do you feel like today with a chance to kind of Silence the Critics and say you I would actually say like think look about look how efficient we’ve been passing the ball for the last nine weeks right through this little stretch that we’ve been in um jaylen’s Court I just think it kind of gets a little bit blown out of proportion you know jaylen’s quarterback rating has been over a 100 um most of the games I don’t know what he was today but most of the games he been over 100 we’re averaging 8 plus uh 8.5 Plus in the past game like I just think a little bit’s been a little bit blown out of proportion um as far as because we you know we we’ve been running the ball so well I mean you can’t you can’t have all the yards rushing there’s only so many yards you’re going to get in a game you can’t have all the yards rushing and have passing game so or have all the yards in the passing game too and so I think we’ve been super efficient today we needed our passing game even more um and so it is just another good I know you guys may look at yards a lot like was just another good day of passing game because I think we’ve been super efficient like I don’t think you understand how how hard it is to be you know have that yards per attempt number that quarterback rating and take care of the ball and be explosive which we’ve been um and so yeah I mean today was really good um we threw for more yards so I know that’s going to be H the passing gamees back I I don’t think the passing game was anywhere um I think that’s been a little bit blown out of proportion cuz of how efficient we’ve been and you guys will check the numbers after I say that and you’ll probably agree there’s a spir spirit of conversation between you and Jaylen Carter after uh during the what like what transpired and what the teach I’ll never get into the conversations I have with players but he made a play that that is not part of our standard um and so you know my job is to to correct that regardless of of what it is uh we’re going to we’re going to correct the things that that we need to do better and praise the things we need to do well and so you know in that in that moment that’s what that’s what that was I I love Jaylen Carter I love the what he brings to his football team right there he needs to be needs to be smarter in that situation because it could have gave him the ball back it didn’t give him the ball back but it could have and so we’re going to need to get better from that and so that’s just that’s what you do as a coach and uh again he played a good game and I’ll watch the game to see you know how good of a game he played but um we need him to be better in that scenario and be the the consistent player that he’s been for the entire year AJ did say that beyond their meetings spending a lot more time together this week to be on the same page what did you see throughout the week and how did you see that play out I just saw a great job of our players uh these players you know again I’ve mentioned this you know prior to this like they’re just so locked in and focus to getting better and and and and that’s it right that’s all they want to do is get better because they know if we continue to get better we can we can we can we can uh we can win the football game and so um I just saw an effort to get better um through the midst of again what seemed like chaos on the outside but you know was just something that uh that you know we used as something to to to kind of galvanize us and and get better from um and they did that today said that there were uncomfortable conversations that were had how good is that that they can have those conversations and focus on with yeah again you everything you do is to get when you have everybody in the room that just wants to to improve and do the things they know work we’re capable of um that’s special and so you know again conversations all week and the guys worked really hard this week in practice the guys worked extremely hard in in walkthroughs the guys worked extremely hard in uh in meetings um and Jaylen again just did such a just a phenomenal job and then to again like I said to have two guys go over 100 against a really good defense I mean that can’t can’t tell you how much respect I have for that defense that you lose sleep over over 90 you lose sleep over 97 you lose sleep over 51 you lose sleep over 56 I mean you lose sleep over 39 they got so many good players you lose sleep against a a Mike Tom and Coach team um and so to come out and have a performance like that to gain over 400 yards and put 27 points on the board um and be efficient like we were that was that was good that was a good win Nick when something comes up like the JL and AJ thing comes up this week is there any part of you as a coach that says that I don’t know if relishes it as the right word but it’s a challenge I would imagine for you to try to deal with that is there a part of you that likes that yeah you know again every opportunity to get better uh you use I I’m not for one minute saying that all the turmoil on the outside was a good thing that’s not you know we we want to make sure that we’re we’re locked into what we’re doing and that’s what I felt like when there was chaos from what I feel like again I have to do media every day and so I understand that there’s Chaos on the outside you know with Bob getting me ready for that and the questions you kind of ask me but um during chaos if you can have calmness um uh you know during that that which that was huge and so uh our guys we got great leaders we got great coaches and uh I thought our guys just came to work every single day uh we had F I thought we were loose uh throughout the entire you know kind of after that was all over and we really like I said we were really done with that on Wednesday um and I you know I know that it kind of again you guys have to do your job and I know that can linger through the week um as far as what what happens but our guys were I just felt extreme locked in and focus um through the entire week through what could have been a time where people could say oh you know what’s going on over in Philadelphia to lose two fumbles and the 29 yd pun and get just six points out of that what how much does the defense increase your margin of bar you get to Wi yeah you know we thought it was we talked all week about winning the turnover battle cuz we knew when the Steelers lost the turnover battle they had hard time they had hard time winning the game we didn’t win the turnover battle that and so you know that part of the game plan didn’t come together you know we got a I think we had a couple things you know gcoe had one knocked out they could have tied it you know that but we also had one with AJ that Smitty got on or he stepped out of bounds I don’t know um and so uh what say say your question part of your question again defense oh yeah defense did a phenomenal job of of holding them you know and that and that goes back they’ve they’ve done they played good red zone defense we’ve played good red zone defense the entire year um you know dating back to the very beginning of the year when we turned it over early in the game and and we held Green Bay to six yards or six points um and they did a good job there you know again I Pittsburgh has thrived in these scenarios when they’ve done when they’ve been able to get turnovers and they did I mean what the punch the the way he comes after the football is pretty special I I man I can’t say enough about how good of a football player he is and like how he got that ball away from Jaylen he’s just got a great like I’d hate to be in a boxing match with him first of all he’d kill me but secondly like he just is going to connect on he’s going to connect because he has just such a good feel for it so I I can’t tell you how much respect I have and how cool it is for in for the league to have a matchup like Lane Johnson vers vers um TJ Watt and uh and so again just yeah great job by the bye everybody 23 targets Nick serani saying the passing game is back and to that I’d say I don’t think the passing game went anywhere I think the passing game has just been so efficient that people don’t realize how devastating it’s been I don’t know if I’d go that far he didn’t that’s not a quote from him but he said it’s been effective he said look how efficient we’ve been passing the ball the past nine weeks jaylen’s quarterback rating has been over 100 averaging eight and a half plus per attempt in the past games has been blown a little bit out of proportion Jaws agree or not I agree I agree but I there’s been some areas that need to improve and we saw an improvement today that I thought the timing the rhythm of the pass game was outstanding where it’s been kind of up and down over the last two weeks so today was a real real good example of how this passing game is not together all right well it’s clearly look Jaylen even you know sat up there on Tuesday or on Wednesday and said yeah I’ve got to be better throwing the ball I’ve got to get rid of the ball quicker I mean there were clearly issues there it doesn’t mean was playing bad it just means he wasn’t playing as well as he could yeah well I mean take it from Tom Brady who said this was in the third quarter I feel of Jaylen Herz I feel like he’s holding the ball looking downfield and he’s being indecisive that was his observation of of the play at that point in the game we’ll take a electrifying moment presented by Toyota Jaylen herz’s stats since the by week 10 and0 record pass a rating of 115 .5 by the way it was 113 plus going into today so he even increases that 26 total touchdowns and a pick so I would say that’s pretty impressive that pick wasn’t even a bad throw I thought it was just a great play by the by the dback but he’s he’s just playing at a at a terrific level and you know when you combine that with the way the defense is playing you know how do you beat this team shows everybody what they want to see here’s Jaylen Herz post game [Music] so that’s what y’all wanted to see huh John you said you said you’ll figure this out is that is that what we saw tonight we found a way to win the game did you come in thinking you were going to pass like that at the beginning of the game or was it based on what how they were playing um you know as as we’ve said before you know this uh you know multiple ways multiple ways to win and um that was kind of where we lean today we were able to find ways to make plays and execute and finish in the end zone and find a way to win good complimentary football what was clicking with AJ and today I mean combined 23 targets at yeah I think as I said um you know you’re when you’re able to win in multiple ways um obviously uh talented and um the opportunities are there but comes down to to have good discernment of when to do something and when not to so um we want to I’ve always said and believ that you want to make sure that all of your tools are sharp when you need them so when it’s time to use them you can go um and I don’t think there’s a doubt in um in that um you know I think frankly um there’s an effort there um the approach is a little different this week and you know the grass the grass will be green where you water it and U we decided to water it and um we kind of saw the fruits of our labor in that um obviously we we’ve been watering the running game a good bit and it’s kind of natural to put an emphasis on one thing and kind of take an emphasis off of another and see what you guys have kind of seen and so um you know we want to just continue to be well rounded push to be well rounded and water all areas of our yard when you sat when you sat down you said you know is this what you guys wanted to see it was a week you know a lot of scrutiny with the passing game does that make a performance like this any sweeter or better for you well the scrutiny is never um never ending it’s it’s nothing new and so that’s something that I fin a thrill in and um I appreciate um being told I can’t and that we can’t and I know that I lead this team and uh it takes takes a lot out of it um it demands a lot out of you and um I just just want to show up and be the best teammate quarterback and and um you know be the best I can be um from for for the guys on the team Devonte talked Devonte talked about there um being uncomfortable conversations this past week uh AJ said there were extended meetings beyond what you guys normally do when talk about the passing game you know can you take us a little bit inside how how that approach um went this this past week no I won’t what’s a challenge when you play a Pik top defense I think a Mike Tomlin team um physical disruptive tough uh that whole conference that whole division is tough but um man I just realized who you were man man good to see you traveling up here um that means a lot that means a lot um but playing against a um playing against a a Steelers team um is always a tough Challenge and you know it was um it was it was definitely a test a battle you know that come after the ball and playing physical ball and um you know was a great opponent we played out there finger broken uh is it broken and did it impact your play at all day um it is broken and it didn’t it did impact my play how yout T yeah uh I mean it’s broken so it yeah you mentioned uh complimentary football um to Clos the game it’s about 10 and 1/2 minute drive what does that say about the offense and the well-rounded nature of yeah um you know we’ve been able to do that a couple times this year and you know it it was it was crucial it was crucial um just hats off to you know how sequan has kind of been able to do that all year in those moments and Kenny excuse mckenny stepping up and making some of the plays he made tonight um not foreign to that at all and just putting it all together you know defense uh played the hell of a game how they started the game off would love to you know kind of get out and take advantage of how they’re playing you know um in that moment but um tons to learn from in the end um tons to learn from and um we’ll kind of get back to our regular schedule routine you know put a 24-hour rule on what we do and and learn from it tomorrow and move forward did that injury happen on a a QB sneak against the Panthers it did not okay the approach was different this week how so um we had a phase this year where we said we were going to be a run team and a play action team so you know we um we start watering that and stop watering other part I know you don’t want to go into lot of watering going on which is important we’re in a drought he gets water and he Waters the yard rain is in the forecast that’s right I thought was in a scene from being there with Peter S got a new batch of metaphors from Amazon he just ordered them just fantastic the one thing the newsworthy part was that he is playing with a broken left ring finger which is not his throwing hand um he didn’t say it was nothing we talked about that Jaws you said usually it does not affect a quarterback depending on on the type your left hand you know you’re not throwing with your left hand obviously your right-handed quarterback but you could tell he was having some they not problems but he was handing off with his right hand when he probably should be handing off with his left hand that when and he wasn’t because he was compensating for the broken bone so it creates a little bit of a problem it can cause a fumel but it didn’t so move on yeah he was also asked to take the media through the conversations that were had between him and his teammates last week after all that trauma played out conversations that AJ Brown kind of talked around conversations that Devonte Smith took us through and he said no I won’t do that so you can you know that’s it’s his prerogative Noe we’re not doing it we’re not we’re not doing it you know why cuz the conversations were about him that’s why why can’t you hit me right here why AR you looking downfield all right Ruben will talk more about it
