so in this MLB news and rumors video I am going to be talking about all of the latest pertaining to the 20242 MLB off season specifically in this case MLB free agency so as always make sure to leave your thoughts Down Below in the comment section of this video let’s get right into it so the first news item for today actually takes us to Houston where the Astros have emerged as serious suitors for Nolan Aeron so MLB deadline news on X tweeted out the Houston Astros have emerged as quote serious suitors for St Louis Cardinals third base B and aeronautic per Chandler Rome so this comes in the aftermath of the Kyle Tucker trade uh when he got traded of course to the Chicago Cubs all signs indicate that Alex bregman the more this goes on this offseason could definitely not be coming back uh to the Astros in 2025 so if that’s the case there’s a bit of a hole at third base which is where someone like Nolan arado could come into play in regards to a trade candidate so I guess not talking about uh you know the fry Market specifically here but more of a trade Target that of course being Nolan arado uh to the Astros so last year for Aeron a in St Louis it wasn’t the best of years for him uh perhaps age has caught up to the uh Superstar third baseman last year in 2024 he put up a 2.54 season 157 hits 16 home runs a 272 batting average a 70 runs scored 71 rpis two stolen bases and on base of 325 a 394 slugging an Ops of 719 and an Ops plus of 101 so in regards to defensive of third baseman Aeron is probably the best in all baseball having won the gold glove War 10 times in his career he’s also a six-time platinum glove War winner as well followed by an eight-time All-Star as well as a five-time Silver Slugger so his career is very decorated what’s the one they missing right now that of course is the championship so this guy gets paid a ton of money I think around $25 million per year until 2027 is concluded with so in regards to taking on this much money it’s going to cost the Astros quite a bit financially speaking so maybe uh a trade retaining some money could be what’s in store here or maybe Houston sends us some other money you know maybe St Louis’s way but Aeron is definitely not a player that has I would say a super bright future in regards to getting much better he is 34 years old in 2025 if I’m not mistaken as well so a bit of an older player to add to this team especially if you are Houston I guess they could be going through a bit of a retool this offseason we of course saw Kyle Tucker get traded uh it’s a very strong possibility now that at this point you know Alex bregman depart so if you want to find someone who could be very replaceable to Alex bregman then I guess yes arado could definitely be that guy I know arado has a fulln move Clause but could he be willing to move his contract over to Houston I’m sure he very well could be so uh I think Don arado is a very solid player it’s it’s going to take a very specific team uh that maybe wants to get a competitive window right away uh to get his Services via the trade market so could this happen I guess only time will tell but if someone like Alex bregman does the part the team this off season I could definitely see Houston pivoting into more of of a stop Gap option and that could be Aeron All Things Considered so could no n be taking his talents down south and joining the Houston Astros he very well could be I guess the only time will tell so now shifting gears to a bit of a puzzling report that I saw a couple days ago from MLB Scoops so MLB scoops on X tweeted out pet Lonzo getting heavy interest from the Athletics a four-year deal is on the table so there actually has been some strange report in this offseason uh indicating that the Athletics you know the former Oakland Athletics franchise now just the Athletics because of where they’re playing next year they want to spend some money which we haven’t really heard them say before now they made a pretty big time trade a couple days ago now I would actually say a pretty impressive trade acquiring Jeffree Springs uh from the Tampa Bay Rays who of course is a controllable arm a controllable arm himself I believe he has like three years left if I’m not mistaken so that was a pretty good move for the Athletics not one that I saw coming personally speaking but could they be going big time in free agency now I know they signed Luis seino to a pretty hefty contract which is a little bit head scratching as well but uh nonetheless could they be signing Pete Alonzo to like a four-year deal let’s just say 25 $30 million per year that would be crazy now if you’re pet Alonzo do you want to go to the Athletics with the uncertainty about where they’re going to be playing in the future I would say probably not but if they can blow you away with perhaps the dollars and cents they’re offering in you have to consider it now Peter Lonzo is a very talented player one of the best if not the first B uh best first basem available on the open market now the Athletics are going to be competing against some other teams out there so if it gets down to a bidding war they’re probably going to lose just historically speaking that’s what always happens but the Athletics want to spend some money and they made a pretty big time move for Jeffree Springs so could the Athletics be scheming something up this off season and could Pete Alonzo be their guy it’s possible now there’s a pretty good chance that Pete Alonzo is going to be getting greater than a four-year contract perhaps like an 8-year contract could be on the table for him I guess only time will tell so the Athletics not giving this guy super long terms a little bit uh probably not in their best interest in regards to winning a bidding war but if you are Pete Alonzo would you take a four-year deal for like $30 million per year to join the Athletics I think you have to consider it but is it going to happen I would say probably not but nonetheless a pretty interesting report from MLB Scoops indicating that the oak Athletics uh could be interested in Pete Alonzo so will this happen I guess the only time we’ll tell we’ll find out so heading back to the trade market here where the Cubs and the Mariners are talking about a potential Blockbuster deal that could be happening following the Kyle Tucker trade so MLB deadline news on X tweeted out the Chicago Cubs have expressed interest in Mariners starting first or starting pitcher Lis Castillo per aore Jude this of course is Adam Jude a Mariners reporter so Luis Castillo’s name has been talked about the last couple days now in regards to a trade Target last year for Luis Castillo in 24 he put up a pretty solid campaign a 1.8 Worst season 11 wins 12 losses an are of 3.64 30 games played 175 Innings pitched with 175 strikeouts and a whip of 1.69 so Luis Castillo is a very solid player in regards to eating Innings staying healthy and just putting up some pretty good produ a pretty good production around the entire MLB uh this Mariner staff is one of if not the best in all baseball and Luis Castillo is a bit of an outlier because of his age in the staff uh he is actually just recently 32 years old so perhaps a player that the Mariners might look to sell a little bit high on right now save some money and and potentially use that to replace him with with maybe a Roki suaki for example or maybe a Corbin Burns or whatever the case could be on the open market so Luis Castillo as I mentioned before 32 years old he is making a decent amount of money until 20128 if I’m not mistaken uh he is currently making let me just do some quick math here 108 divided 5 he’s making about $21.6 million per year and there is term attached to this contract so if you are the Cubs who as I mentioned before just recently made a blockbuster move for Kyle Tucker do you want to really go all in for 2024 or sorry for for 2025 and get Luis Castillo one of the best pitchers on this Mariner staff they veryable could be but with the money having to go to KY Tucker in 2025 and Beyond on a long-term contract if they go down that direction acquiring money such as Luis Castillo’s contract could actually Hind them in that process so I’d be a little bit careful here the Mariners have some other young pitchers on the staff as well that could definitely be of interest to the Cubs but the biggest takeaway here might not specifically be Luis Castile as a trade candidate to the Cubs but the Cubs wanting to get a starting pitcher in general so could they be in the market for a Roki Sasaki I would suspect they very well are could they be in the market for potentially a Corbin Burns type of player I doubt it but it’s possible I think the most likely scenario for the Cubs this offseason would be sort of like what the KY Tucker scenario to acquire these players via the trade market so we’ll keep an eye on the Mariners potentially moving out one of their starting pitchers and hopefully getting back some um good uh you know offensive players in return that could be a possibility there maybe someone like Nico Horner’s name uh could come to mind as a possible candidate for them just throw names out there I’m not too sure if that would actually happen or not but Luis Castillo could definitely be traded to the Cubs this offseason we’ll keep an eye on this at the very least so now shifting to the state of Texas once again where the Rangers have some interest in jock Peterson so MLB deadline news on X tweeted out the Texas Rangers have been in contact with Fran outfielder DH shock Peterson per Evan P Grant so jock Peterson is what you call a very solid player um as alluded to in the tweets he can play Outfield Andor DH I think if you were to go to Texas he’d probably be playing more of an outfielder role if I’m not mistaken but jock Peterson is what you just call a very solid baseball player last year in 2024 he had a 2.9 War season 101 hits 23 home runs a 275 a average uh 62 runs scored 64 RBI seven stolen bases and all base of 393 a 515 slug an LPS of 908 and Ops plus of 151 so when CH Peterson was healthy last year in 2024 he was one of the best players in all baseball as crazy as that may sound so if you are the Texas Rangers this could be a good chance for them to take a bit of a risk in regards to signing Jo Peters now the question mark for me is what’s his contract going to look like jock Peterson is going to be 33 years old in 2025 so perhaps for him it’s probably hope in his best interest to sign a multi-year deal and get back as much money as possible especially too if you are a team like the Texas Rangers you’re in a state with no state income tax so you could be getting this player and this player could be taking home a lot more money than where he could you know elsewhere uh for example so jock Peterson is a two-time World Series champion as well as a two-time All-Star as I mentioned before last year in 2024 prior to getting injured he was one of the best players in all baseball and won the and made the allstar game back in 2022 as well with the San fr Isco Giants so jock Peterson is a very solid player I think if you were to go over to uh the Rangers in 2025 and put up you know 20 25 home runs hit about 275 can get on base in a reasonable clip this would be an absolute you know the only question mark for me here is what is this dollar value also do if you’re the Texas Rangers you want to get back to the playoffs next year as you know that World Series hangover was pretty prevalent for them last year and it wasn’t a very pretty season for them so jock Peterson honestly at this point pretty under the radar if you ask me uh there are concerns of course with his age and injury history but if you’re looking for a player that can be like a 20 plus home run guy get on base and play some really solid defense jock Peterson could definitely be that guy he has bounced around you know the H in his career so far but he’s a World Series champion a two-time World Series champion uh for example you know of course with the Braves and I do believe as well uh the Dodgers in 2020 if I’m not mistaken as well so jock Peterson could definitely be the next player of the Texas Rangers in free agency this offseason but I guess only time will tow so that is going to be it for this video thanks again for watching make sure to leave all your thoughts Down Below in the comment section as always have an amazing rest of your day and I will see you in the next one
