the next level with dimer Pro North Carolina Louisville ACC play Begins for two teams that I think are feeling pretty uneasy about themselves heading into conference play North Carolina sits at 8 and5 the win over UCLA is going to hold up really well especially after UCLA just beon zaga so that was no small feat but outside of that really every quality win opportunity they had they failed Kansas Auburn Michigan State Alabama Florida losses and kind of all the same game script we know they start slow early they make Furious comebacks in the second half enter Louisville first year of Pat Kelce team that I believe has talent but is not 100% they lost Kon prior and I really think their season has kind of gone off the rails sense uh three consecutive losses at the end of November to Oklahoma Mississippi and Duke they lost at Kentucky but honestly you look at some of these games Duke and Kentucky were competitive basketball games for Louisville so I think they’ve at least proven even despite being banged up they’re not going to no show against quality opponents and this is a game that it feels like whoever gets this one is going to start conference play with this whole new Mojo where they feel like they can still compete in the ACC and whoever loses this one is probably looking in the mirror like oh no this could go south do you think that’s a fair way to frame this yeah I completely agree I think this is the type of game where I think I feel this way more so for North Carolina than Louisville but this is the type of game that kind of determines just how much Buy in you’re going to get from the rest of the group like that like the rest of the W um I love Louisville’s first ACC game of the year every year because it reminds me that they’re in the ACC but I feel like if North Carolina loses this game it could go really downhill for them Louisville it could too um but the reason I I don’t feel as much about that with them is I do think they’re GNA fight no matter what and I think that’s gonna be North Carolina’s biggest problem in this game is they start incredibly slow um and Louisville won’t like louville plays at one speed the whole game they’re just not that talented U in comparison to like in North Carolina but they play at one speed the whole game Chucky heurn and Pat Kelce I mean they don’t know what breaks look like it’s all gas yeah profile wise it it’s interesting because uh neither of these teams shoots well and neither of these teams guards the three-point line overly well based on percentages like you go through the season Louisville as an offense shoots 29% from three as a defense they allow teams to make 36% from three North Carolina shoots 32% from three same thing defensively they allow 36% from three so if it is just going to come down to like who makes shots in this game I don’t know where we go with this um because I I believe like obviously RJ Davis is a prolific shot maker Seth Trimble can get hot I think Louisville’s definitely got shot makers as well from outside Chucky Hein can pour in a couple Ryan Smith is a great shooter so I don’t know I I kind of like you look at both teams and Louisville I guess the difference is Louisville wants to shoot a ton of Threes North Carolina ends up taking a lot of non three-point shots and in theory that shot profile should favor Louisville especially at home here a little bit but I don’t know it’s just kind of hard to trust this Personnel because to me the thing with Carolina you either have to have like a a clear advantage in the front court that can exploit North Carolina’s weak personnel there or you have to have guards that can hang with North Carolina’s preferably both and when I look at Louisville like I think Kon PRI 100% would have been a big that could completely take advantage of their lack of a front Court without prior it’s really on Noah Waterman who has been good lately like to be fair to him he he’s on a string of double digit scoring games um so maybe he’s the answer but it kind of on paper wise to me it feels like Louisville has to match the guards from Carolina and I’m a little more skeptical of that than I have been with other opponents North Carolina’s played yeah no I agree do you know is Seth Trimble playing I think so yeah okay if Seth’s back then that like obviously changes things massively I feel like when it when it comes to North Carolina um this this Probably sounds because you got RJ you got Elliot you got Seth right but I think the game kind of comes down to Ian Jackson I feel like they go as Ian Jackson goes because he’s that spark plug that kind of gives you that over energy I think Seth Trimble is probably like their most important player because of how calm he is through everything um I mean they’ll be in the middle of chaos and Seth Trimble Just Hits like three buckets in a row gets a stop and it’s like okay we’re fine again because Seth took over a little bit but Ian Jackson is the one that causes the chaos that’s necessary to keep them in games specifically in the first half so I feel like the game kind of goes as Ian Jackson goes if he can match the energy that Pat Kel’s gonna have this Louisville team bring North Carolina could really run away with this one they’re way more talented uh in my opinion than M way more talented yeah Seth Trimble did miss the Campbell game uh upper body injury is what it was called but I I’m just assuming he plays maybe I shouldn’t assume but um to me I haven’t heard that it’s anything overly long-term serious um it’s interesting that North Carolina handled Campbell I mean they end up winning by by 16 but they kind of went heavy on their dos to get there right like they Ian Jackson played 36 minutes davidon CAU 35 34 minutes Drake pow 30 minutes I I do think we’ve we’ve kind of reached the point that was necessary for Carolina personnel wise where they’re just going all in on those four plus Seth Trimble when he’s healthy and respectfully the rotation of bigs Jaylen Washington Jaylen Withers of V Allen Luben we can’t trust you you don’t provide anything let’s just give teams a nightmare death lineup to match up with I mean let’s put five guards on the floor and see what happens and I don’t know if that’s gonna happen obviously Seth was out last game but the fact that those four all played 30 and then you had kind of the rotation of of the fifth guy who really didn’t give you anything I do think this is trending in the right direction for Hubert Davis like he’s kind of scrapping all hope of an answer in the front Court which is the right move for this team and Ian Jackson’s performances have I think backed this up like beginning of the Season he’s coming off the bench I I think I criticized him for being really inconsistent and not giving you anything RJ Davis doesn’t give you well guess what RJ Davis hasn’t given you what RJ Davis is supposed to give you this year he’s shooting 27% from three so maybe it is more meaningful that Ian Jackson can do some of that when RJ Davis can’t even do it and uh I think going all in on the pairing of them bodess well for Carolina when you think about how does Louisville match up with that Chucky heurn has been really good this year I had some Louisville fans like tweeting at sleepers like when is Craig gonna acknowledge this uh respectfully Louisville started the year six and five and Chucky he gave up a career game to Lamont I’m not gonna like do a victory for Chucky heern like the whole cell was that if Chucky he’s your best guy your team stinks I think that’s pretty much been proven true here so with that said he’s been great he is a defensive past like if you were Louisville would you stick him on RJ or what would you do uh I think i’ stick on Seth or Ian um I really think those two are the heartbeat I think here’s the thing about RJ I don’t think anybody in the country can guard him besides himself so I just I think you don’t worry about RJ and you let RJ decide if this is a game RJ’s gonna show up for or not because R.J very easily could show up and give Chucky 30 he could very show up and give uh anybody onville uh 30 points he could also show up and decide hey I don’t feel like playing get seven points so I think you just let RJ do that and I’m sticking I’m sticking Chucky specifically on Ian but I’m probably throwing him on Seth a little bit too can I tell you what I would do and I think it’s pretty uh unorthodox put him on Elliott tell him to tackle him so here’s my thing if you if you’re Louisville and you have one big defensive stopper Pest and then like a bunch of other respectfully like Terence Edwards is a really good player Javon Hadley’s a good role player R Smith can get H from three Noah Waterman’s been solid right but like really to me defensively Louisville’s whole thing is like Chuck’s gonna annoy someone if Chucky takes RJ Davis out of the game Ian Jackson just does the RJ Davis things if he takes Ian out of the game you still have RJ I don’t think you’re gonna solve that anyway be the Chaos Agent that pesters the guy for North Carolina that when he’s gone bad everything goes south right we’ve seen El Kau lose his mind in Maui and the whole team suffers from it and if there is one thing I believe Chuck he is capable of he can annoy Elliot cadell like 100% he can get in his [ __ ] and and cause problems that’s what I would do it’ll be interesting to see if Pat Kelce goes that route or not that I love that idea that that was kind of what let me down the Seth uh the path as well because I was kind of just like if you put this nuisance on Seth maybe you get underneath his skin because he’s the only one that seems unmoved by anything on North Carolina J Davis also seems unmoved by stuff but that’s for like different reasons um but I mean I know yeah separate story let’s get to predictions D is our Predictive Analytics model that we partner with for uh for all things College uh college basketball and they’re 0 and five against everybody outside the top 40 they’re eight and0 it’s it’s pretty simple if Louisville or if I think it’s a pack Hy thing going back to his old stops if Packel teams play a team that is legitimately good they lose if they play a team that’s average to bad they have a really good chance uh my reality right now North Carolina’s 29th on kenpom my reality is this I don’t think North Carolina is very good I just don’t and I think uh if you get to Elliot CAU you can get to everything else they still have the problems in the front Court Seth Trimble being uh maybe iffy
