what does the draw launch mean for your club I’m Paul jodka joined by former NRL Legend and current by round podcast host James Graham to chat about the Brisbane Broncos James Michael Maguire takes over as coach how will he change things north of the Border yeah well look there’ll be no team with more eyeballs on them than the brisban Broncos to start start season 2025 I think when you think about Michael Maguire the teams that he’s had in the past in the past he brings a very hard-nosed approach very displ L approach so hopefully that can transpire and rub off on those brisban players that you know unfortunately last season um didn’t replicate the same Heights as they did in season 2023 no 2023 it was pretty much all risers except for the last 10 minutes 2024 there wasn’t much to talk about so what went wrong last year and what does imagine the Broncos need to do to write the ship yeah look they um they had some injuries to key players in key positions but I think for me looking at the Broncos last year it was uh some mental demons from 2023 and hopefully with Maguire’s tactics he can work a little bit um about what they do on the field but for me it’s mentally getting over that and hopefully another offseason and a sort of taining of the page and a new chapter can help them put those demons behind them and play their best football because when they’re playing at their best with the ability that they have with the likes of Stags Cobo Reese Walsh out the back obviously as well they are up there with the best in the competition when it comes to having the ball in their hands the draw has been fairly kind to Brisbane last year they only won four out of 12 games against the eventual top eight sides this year they only play eight of those finals teams in the first 22 weeks should help get them into a strong position before the final month where they do have a tougher schedule how do you think that will play into it yeah well look well obviously obviously with those more difficult games at the back end they can’t afford to to wait for things to happen they’ve got to start well I know every team will say that but for it’s never been more applicable to a team like the Broncos for season 2025 they know the pressure will be coming as soon if and when they go into a form slump so they have to stall well yeah all lies on them as you said earlier now of course the game jenger you pull one piece out you hope it doesn’t fall but occasionally it does what’s the Jenga piece that Brisbane can’t afford to lose for me it’s the Superstar fullback ree Walsh and he had a injury plague 2024 for me which was a a huge factor in in brisbane’s um difficult season he is absolutely electric when he’s out the back of shape he is such a threat he causes so much drama to every Edge defense he gives them nightmares for me ree Walsh is a key component and the key Block in that Jenga piece in that Jenga block rather for the pris Broncos do you see the Broncos improving regressing or remaining the same in 2025 well there’s only one way isn’t there they’ve got to improve they have to they just have to yeah all right Brisbane fans are hoping you are right thanks so much James the full NRL draw is now available at nrl.com or on the NRL app
