the woto reports are intensifying for the New York Mets so we’ll break that down on this episode a three up three down and just explore the overall offers that were made by some teams around Major League Baseball so I’ll have that and much more coming up [Applause] next welcome in everybody to three up three down I’m your host Peter Ronis and today we’re going to be talking about Juan stto and the New York Mets pursuit of him as well as some other teams that are involved in the sweep Stakes some teams were said to have made offers to the Superstar outfielder already and uh the offseason is just getting started but before we get into all of that I want to let you know that a large percentage of you watching these videos are not subscribed to the channel so go ahead and hit that sub button it mean the world to me because we’re very close to my goal of 2,000 subscribers so guys thanks so much for all the support that we’ve gotten and let’s not waste any time let’s get straight into the video Juan stto reportedly has offers from these five teams per John morosi and Randy J Miller the Red Sox Dodgers Mets Yankees and blue jays now the one thing we don’t have exact figures of these contracts I I assume that they’re probably in the $650 to $700 million range that’s what we’ve been hearing all offseason long and it could surpass that because if we Circle back to last off off season sh Otani was always 600 million it was always that six at the beginning and then it ended up being seven so maybe it’s even more than what we’re expecting this time around with Juan SoDo I I truly have no idea on that front but what I did want to get to is that Hector Gomez who is very in tune with a lot of the Latin players and a lot of the Dominican players around Major League Baseball said uh that the Red Sox increased their original offer to WAN stto both in years and total value now I I wanted to get to the first reply of this cuz I found it very funny and it’s from uh Stanton I guess uh I guess this guy’s a Yankees fan he’s saying went from 5 years 60 million to 8 years 100 million sources confirm with the eyeballs bulging over there so uh funny stuff over there uh got to keep it lighthearted and I wouldn’t say the slow time or or the slow portion of uh of the SoDo sweep Stakes but but right now it definitely feels like we’re at a standstill and it feels as though stto and Boris are just waiting for a team to crack they are waiting for a team to do something ill-advised and stupid and make an offer that maybe they wouldn’t have made had they not been in a more desperate position and uh people are not acknowledging the significance of what this means in New York City now just to put it into perspective Steve Phillips former GM of the New York Mets never went head-to-head with the Yankees for free agents so uh this is different Uncharted Territory that the New York Mets are in not not in the case of not having a budget but the fact that they are the players on the market the Mets are the players on the free agent Market Steve Cohen there is no limit to what this guy is going to spend and I think that’s a massive Advantage for the New York Mets and I I don’t know I don’t know what Soto’s priorities are I don’t know if he’s just going to go for flat out money because if that’s the case then he’s already a New York Met he’s already a New York Met he’s just trying to squeeze out an extra few million dollars at this point but what I want to know is how much more of a premium in years and dollars will the Mets have to pay to get him will they have to outbid the Yankees by that much will they have to outbid the Yankees at all what if stto likes to fit better with the New York Mets as opposed to the Yankees I I don’t know is he going to have to go uh50 60 million more than the next team for stto and it’s still not enough so be it I I I don’t know I I stto my prediction was always that he goes to the Mets but I think it’s a combination of things that make the Mets a very attractive place for him to go whether it’s uh the fit on the team whether it’s the fact that he would be the top dog over there and another thing is the amount of money that they could offer to him a and that they went pretty far in the playoffs as well without maybe that missing piece which is Juan stto so I I think there are numerous advantages for stto in terms of picking the New York Mets I don’t think it’s as cookie cutter as people are making it out to be I I truly don’t believe that the Yankees have more to offer to Juan stto in terms of Legacy I don’t think he cares about all that he’s got a ring already he’s going to be a Hall of Famer when it’s all said and done the only thing he’s missing is an MVP and I don’t think he’s going to win that with the New York Yankees I really don’t think he’s going to win that because he’ll be in the shadows of Aaron judge so it like like what are we talking about here sure he he wants to win rings but I think a better chance for him to win a ring is staying with the New York Mets a team that will or going to the New York Mets rather a team that will spend to no end that is trying to have the best possible squad on the on the field all the time and that’s what Steve Cohen is driven to do that’s what he has always done ever since coming aboard and he’s doing it the right way man he’s doing it the right way he’s spending money money that he has and he wants to build a World Series Contender he wants to build ultimately a World Series winner so I get all that and John morosi continues to say that he thinks the Yankees and Mets are much more likely to land stto the Red Soxs could very easily pivot and sign a Corbin Burns maybe they pursue Blake Snell who both happen to be represented by Scott Boris so the Red Sox kind of feel like an afterthought in this entire process uh I wouldn’t say the Blue Jays feel like an afterthought because they’re willing to spend as well they were right there until the end in the Shoon sweep Stakes they offer the same exact contract so I I would not rule them out of this uh of the running here but the Dodgers who have also made an offer are an interesting team to keep our eyes on because they went through some unexpected Financial uh financial gain last year sh Otani comes on board they’re they have some projections in mind but they truly don’t know how much revenue that this guy is going to bring in what does he do $130 million of Revenue in his first season with the team they win a World Series I mean that’s all that they could have asked for and he’s he’s probably underpaid at 700 million for the amount of money that he’s going to make the Los Angeles daughter so Not only was it the best baseball decision that they could have made it was a very smart decision off the field as well to get show Otani and I don’t know if um if one stto brings that same kind of impact off the field which is why a team like the Blue Jays like a telecommunications company will not want to have to spend all that money for a guy that may not make it back for them so ton was definitely worth the investment because he brought more money to the Los Angeles Dodgers than he took away and I don’t know if stto has that same amount of impact let me know in the comments down below where do you think stto is going to sign and what do you think the
