this changes everything for the Edmund snorers as they kicked off their three- game home stand with a big win against the Columbus Blue Jackets last night and that top unit is starting to get more and folks uh before we started recording today the Edmonton Oilers made a minor league trade they have acquired for Jacob Pearl from the Montreal Canadians in exchange for defenseman no Hamm I mean uh some are saying this is the biggest trade of the day uh never mind the Jacob trba trade between the New York Rangers and the Anaheim Ducks but just a small bit of news uh coming in today after that big win last night yes acquiring forward Jacob Pro just taking a look at Jacob Pro here of course uh drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2020 NHL entry draft of course it was a bit of a weird uh draft year but late first round there but it seems like his skills haven’t you know exactly uh transformed to the professional level only playing one game for the Anaheim Ducks in that time after a stellar Junior career with the S sting and playing with the San Diego goals as well and you can see there a little bit of ECHL time with the twer Lions of the e but again this seems to be a Reclamation project for the Oilers of course Jeff Jackson likes to bolster the Edmonton Prospect pool and the Condors had a lot of defenseman Expendable defenseman so uh you know minor league trades are minor league trades but they’re still trades nonetheless but let’s get right into it Top Guns yes last night the Edmonton’s Top Guns uh showed out in a huge way against the Columbus Blue Jacket but before that there was a a ceremony celebrating con MC Davids 1,000th point you can see there with his family there his parents uh his wife and even his dog Leonard made an appearance last night his first NHL game tons of gifts were given to McDavid of course a Golden Stick a roax by Jeff Jackson and lots of uh you know videos on the Jumbotron celebrating Conor mcdavid’s 1000 NHL point in he was asked about it he said you try to enjoy the moment it’s not every day you get to have your parents out there Lauren as well and to see Lenny always makes me smile so it was a great ceremony he he a great dog he’s definitely part of the family so that why that’s why he’s out there of course lonard McDavid uh huge hit with the Edmonton Aller fan base I mean how could you not that that face is lovable but the edmont T followed up with a 6-3 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets last night first period Uh Kevin leank off of a a weird redirect from The Stick of Michael Pia there makes it one- nothing Blue Jackets a little over two and a half minutes into the first period and then almost 10 minutes in a phenomenal uh Onan effort by Conor McDavid a slick toad Dre gets the puck over to zackman making it 1 after 20 in the second period the Oilers you can see there an offensive explosion Leon dra making it two one Oilers and of course the Blue Jackets did challenge that goal because Zack Hyman was on the outside of the crease and you know you know what what seems to happen every time Hyman is in the crease when a goal is scored but the refs determin it was still a good goal and of course Ma on the ensuing power play the expiring power play makes it 31 Oilers off of a slick pass from Jeff skon and Zack Heyman with his second of the game finding the top left corner past denell teras off uh Damon terson you know again bit of a weird uh hop off of Ty emberson there with no stick somehow finding a way past Calvin picker and Jeff Skinner uh with his fifth goal of the Year trying to find that scoring touch on that line with Skinner uh you know with Skinner Henrik in mati are making a pretty solid third line for the Edmonton Oilers in the third period Cole cylinder tries to get a comeback sparked for the Columbus Blue Jackets but Leon dry settle says no thank you as con David finds dry settle in that bumper spot on the power play making it 63 Oilers and that was your final score just looking at the hockey stack card here of course a huge game by all of the Oilers you know Top Guns as I referenced heading into the second here McDavid Heyman EV Brer Maas eckol Ryan nen Hopkins again trying to find that stride ever since that road trip you know two goals and two stray games against Utah in Colorado so the nude has looked to be huge so far this season heading into uh you know early December and then Jeff Skinner again big game from him and then the fourth line there uh statistically analytically they were uh fantastic there you can see there at the bottom a 76 almost 77% Cory four percentage I mean all four lines uh were phenomenal of course skner Henrik Yar you can see there a little on the the Lesser side for Cory but still uh managed to get a goal and it was you know a very effort you know big big effort there by Jeff Skinner on that one finding the backhand in front of denil tasov and again just trying to get that spark going because Jeff Skinner phenomenal player of course you know 30 goal scorer so for him to you know get that that scoring touch again that is uh fantastic news and just looking at the game stats here 37 shots on goal for the Edmonton ORS you can see there uh Columbus going 0 for two on the power play so that Oilers penalty kill is back to uh its regular form like we saw in the St Cup playoffs last year and Calvin Pickard I mean all three Columbus goals were a little bit fluky of course that first one going off the foot of Kevin leank and then the second one again that hop off of Tai erson who was on the ice for all three goals against but still it it’s hard to be mad about last night’s game even with those three goals against you can see there Calvin picker with a 750 High danger save percentage uh only allowing that one high danger goal against so um again you can’t really ask for much more from your backup goenda he he got them the win so uh no complaints for me there at all you can see they’re the high danger chances for in the high danger chances against the Oilers took that 14 to5 uh it wasn’t even close that first line was all over the Columbus Blue Jackets last night and you know last night the return of Zack Heyman uh that was huge not just for the ORS power play but just five on five in general you needed zackman to get that scoring touch back once again and with the two goals it looks like Zack Heyman is back to last year’s foran uh you know speaking about that that first goal there off that assist from Conor McDavid he said it’s a privilege to play with him and when you’re out there you got to be at your best because he’s always at his best even when he’s not his not so best is probably better than almost anybody else’s I mean Connor’s worst is better than anybody’s uh best so you got to be ready it was obviously an unbelievable play by him he set me up on that first one and it was nice to get on the board early zaching even getting um you know his flowers from head coach Chris noblock he said it’s nice having Zach back I was just thinking about our previous game where we couldn’t score a goal maybe he could have been the difference but it’s nice that he took the extra time and is healthy and ready to contribute he looked good in practice practice leading up to this and getting a guy back who can put the puck in the net is key for us and that’s something that could unlock the Oilers further on down the road of course they’ve already been shut out numerous times so far this season for so for zackman um gifted goal scorer I mean he’s in front of the net always right 54 goals last year that was always great for the oers to uh uh regain back after the five-game absence for Zack Heyman and uh what is next for the Edmund Oilers yes they are uh you know sitting in a wild card spot right now you know creeping on the edge of the Pacific Division top three spots there you can see they 30 points a point behind Calgary for that third spot in the Pacific and you can see there the St Louis Blues two points behind the Edmonton Oilers for that second wild card spot and funnily enough that is Edmonton’s next game as they are the second game of that double header on hocky and Canada tomorrow night we’ll get you all set up for that one and some other other news that you know may potentially break regarding the edmont Oilers but that should be an exciting it is the return of the offer sheet kids yes Dylan Hollow and Philip broberg it’ll be interesting to see how that Rogers plays faithful uh react to the return of those two but that’s it for today’s
