uh that is Memphis and Old Miss that will be up next this is in Memphis the Tigers Myoma moer off of a loss to Mississippi State when last we saw them they are actually favored according to the market lines at the moment now it’s interesting Jeff na I’m coming to you total 152 and a half they were favored when the line was released last Friday for Mississippi State then a bunch of money came in on Mississippi State and right away Mississippi state was favored by a point or two and they really dominated the first half of the game and won easily it’s now a week later after Christmas another SEC team comes into the River City to play Memphis thoughts on this and will that line likely swing in Old Miss’s favor by later today or tonight I don’t think it will uh that said I grabbed I grabbed one with with om Miss uh again a lot of things not just because Memphis is a favorite um I just think Old Miss is better than Mississippi or or sorry uh Old Miss is better than Memphis you look at a couple of things here I look I like Memphis I like the players they have but the turnovers TJ are problematic right Terri this team turns the ball over about 20% of the time that’s 302nd nationally this is a very good Mississippi team as far as forcing turnovers they’re going to put you in bad predicaments now another concerning thing is it’s not just turnovers that are problema atic it’s how they’re turning the ball over you look at Memphis so far uh this season their non-steel turnover percentage 320th what does that mean exactly well that would equate to forced unforced turnovers stepping on the end Line Traveling double drible um you know stuff like that they are very a poor IQ with the basketball that is concerning throw in the fact they have no bench whatsoever they have one of the weakest bench units in the country now you’re going to go up against a team in Old Miss who has a pretty decent bench um they don’t turn the ball over at all they really value possessions and they’ve been really good in the half court both defensively and offensively um throw in the fact we know Penny as a favorite just terrific yeah I like gold miss here I think Chris beard is terrific he’s one of my favorite coaches there’s a lot of things on kind of the the beaten path that you’re not looking at that I think are going to be important in this game throw in that Memphis uh yeah not real big but neither is Old Miss I think this is a really compact game played in the half court to me I just don’t want to back a team that turns the ball over the way Memphis does I played Old Miss plus one and again this game will be at the FedEx forum 2 pm eastern time Saturday Corby is that total interesting to you 152 and a half for ol Miss and Memphis for Saturday afternoon uh I would shade towards the over but nothing crazy I mean we saw basically the same total for Purdue Miss um and that kind nuke to Oblivion I think it went like 170 so uh I could probably be wrong here but I took the under and Old Miss Purdue at 153 Memphis oh miss I think Memphis plays faster obviously I think there’s a lot more chance for scoring I I would lean towards an over just assuming the market was correct on that Purdue number but no I I agree like I watched Memphis and and the turnovers are awful but another thing that is notable to me is like I don’t think that Memphis is really good at stacking small wins either like you see the game of college basketball is about runs and how you can how you can come back from a run just watching that last game versus Mississippi State like I was surprised hackery had 24 in that game it just feels like he’s scoring when like points aren’t the the question like it obviously points on the board help you win games not not scoring six in a row but like I can’t think of times when they went on 60 80 10 runs they just are always just coming back and answering back and if you’re going to turn the ball over that’s never going to work you’re going to have to be able to stack small wins I I just don’t know how it does it here they’re going to be out coached I think the talent scheme is probably pretty close it would be old Mr nothing I didn’t bet this um but it would be old Mr nothing for me all right couple things I’ll provide a little insight here massive massive rivalry moment and this is the biggest game really remaining on memphis’s schedule when you look at the rest of the American Conference I didn’t look at the full schedule there there’s not something in the American sorry Corby including UAB that would be bigger than this so the last chance to really make a good out-of-conference impression if they can get the win they have the Yukon and Michigan State wins on the neutral floor in Hawaii they have a win a true Road win at Clemson that’s going to be valuable I don’t know how valuable the Virginia Road win will be it’s an ACC win and it might end up being a top 75 win when it’s all said and done this would definitely be a top 75 win if they can get it and we’ll see what kind of atmosphere that they have uh it is a it is a bit heated I I will I will just defend to this point Chris beard hasn’t done anything in the NCA tournament or winning an SEC Championship or any of the rest of the stuff as opposed to what Penny Hardaway has done at Memphis they are they are both kind of the same in that regard now what happens when we get to the final two minutes and X’s and O’s stay tuned but I would say I would say I would say Beard’s a little better of a coach he’s you know he gets the he gets the the slight uh the slight nudge better we’ll see we’ll find may it may come down to coaching and it may not Memphis May rock and roll in this game they may make some threes they may rock and roll as Jeff out if they if they turn it over like they did against Mississippi State it’s going to be a long afternoon for Memphis again are you kidding me with this are you serious are you trolling or serious no I’m not I’m not trolling you at all been to the elite a for God’s sakes 10 time better Coach than Penny hard forgive me when was he in the elite a forgive me 2017 2018 with uh with Texas Tech correct correct correct with Texas Tech one year correct uh he was also charged with domestic violence and fire to Texas too by the way how did that work out he got fired at Texas Tech that’s how it worked what happened with the case by by the way Penny Hardway been in the NCA tournament what happened with the case they ended up not pressing the charges because the woman so so so he beat the r let’s give him his fair du does that to do with because at the end of the day he’s a better because I’m just saying I’m saying Hardaway has had like five2 win Seasons you come in here and act like he’s Patrick Ying come here act like he’s hold on you come in here and act like he’s Kenny Payne at Louisville or Chris Mullen at St John’s you do realize they were ranked in the top 15 back two weeks ago so Memphis has had a pretty good season to this point and we’ll see I mean I do know this Paul was seven and0 at one point who cares yeah but but who’s the seven they do say he’s only state on a neutral floor and that means nothing they win at Clemson where Kentucky didn’t win and that means nothing right Penny Hardway would you agree would you agree okay he’s been there since 2018 would you agree with the talent that He has had cuz remember he’s had top picks at that school and he’s been to the tournament twice and has won just one game correct that’s bad well we’ll see what they do this year because again after this game they’re in a conference where they should be able to dominate and if they win this game that’s like a fifth different quad one win uh um I don’t know if this one would it would probably classify as a quad one win which is going to help them a lot here’s what I will tell you any would as Corby says Penny would cook him oneon-one 100% [Music]
