[Music] all right hello and welcome uh this is Mike here from the match day Vlogs Channel um following everything Southampton chis thanks so much for having me on the show you sent me a whole list of questions here to go through which um I’ve read some of them ahead of time a little bit trious of of answering if I’m honest um but here we go uh what have you made of the season so far in the Premier League uh let’s be honest it’s been quite rough um we’ve had two draws and one win a total of five points Rob botom the Premier League and uh We’ve conceded 10 goals through our own mistakes and scored 10 goals so it feels like uh our systems although they do look quite good at times are are having us found out really so it’s it’s not been a good ride so far but I kind of feel that Five Points feels a little bit harsh considering some of the games that we’ve had with narrow misses at the end so pretty tough there describe the job that Russell Martin has done for the club um he’s done a great job in terms of getting us up to the Premier League last season in Championship was incredibly tough leads accumulated I think 92 points for the season and didn’t get Autos which seems utterly crazy missing out on the playoffs uh by losing one nil to us in the final uh we actually beat them three times in that season so it does seem crazy that it was such a um a tough season to to get back in the Premier League but here we are um but Russell Martin has done a great job in terms of getting us back in the Premier League some would argue that he had a very strong side to to get us there I would probably say that Leicester and Le both had stronger squads than us um and iish just did incredible things with the same side they in League one so um but in terms of what he’s done for the CB he he’s got the players back on side uh when we relegated the end of the previous season it was all in disarray really and uh to try and keep the squad uh who weren’t departing together and and Chang the whole way of playing was was quite something but now some are questioning that those Styles um at the moment uh what are your real aims for this season survival uh if that could still be a thing uh I believe we’re on track to match Derby’s record of 12 points in the Premier League season um but look like I said we’ve had some close shaves uh in previous games so who knows I I’d like to think that we could actually make it slightly more competitive uh towards the last stage of the season but it’s not looking good um at all let’s be let’s be quite honest um your thoughts on Tottenham this season so far and an poo I’ve really enjoyed watching Totten Play It’s been absolute Cinema if if I’m quite honest um the style of football that you you guys play it brings a lot of goals some in favor some not so but it’s exciting to watch I know there’s a lot of uh Spurs fans out there that aren’t happy at all with the way things are going and and looking where you are in the Premier League I’m sure you’d hope to be a lot higher but it’s always difficult I think when you’re trying to find the balance of attractive football and actually getting points on the board I can think back to our season under claw pel when we finish eth in the Premier League and we’re all miserable over here because we’re just bored of seeing one nil wins and draws all the time so it can be tough to find that balance but I think he’s um he’s done some good things at your Club I think how is at the moments perhaps unfair reflection because the Premier League is I think tougher than ever so um there we go and described the last 12 months Premier League Championship uh to Premier League um bowing out of the Premier League uh and knowing that we’re going to lose James for prous hurt hurt a lot I I felt that the the changes they made in the managerial positions with Ralph going and then bringing in uh Nathan uh Nathan Jones don’t even like to say his name really um and then changing system completely back under Ruben celes who was basically present in The Dugout through the entirety the season uh it was Madness um it was going horribly wrong but it was it was devastating to be bowing out the Premier League after I think 10 11 years um established there so to jump straight back up was absolutely amazing and it was a great fun of course watching all those games last season the championship and seeing such a high win ratio went on a 25 game unbeaten run last season as well that’s something which broke our unbeaten run record in the league I think ever so I don’t think we’ll perhaps ever see that again uh maybe next season if we’re back in the championship but who knows but it has been quite a ride um your favorite memory of this fixture I’ve got lots of fun memories of Spurs sampton um one of which been when we came back from behind to beat you 2-1 with that pry free kick at the end absolute scenes at some Marys and a rather romantic tale of the 3-2 um at y Gaff uh it was a back and forth game but it would it meant a lot to me because actually the the last time that fixture played at at the Tottenham Stadium it was the last game I got to see my brother who sadly passed away so he predicted a 3-2 win on that game so romantically I said a 3-2 win to Saints and it happened and it was it was magical so thanks for that um which Spurs players do you fear oh how long have you got uh keski um I think Madison’s obviously absolute baller uh human son always seems to get a goal against us or a penalty at least so there’s there’s plenty in there uh which Saints players should we look out for who have been the best for so far um also any team news Ram was not going to feature um I had spoken to Ram did a little filming feature with him on something else we were doing together uh and he did say his his his finger was going be cleared for training from the 10th and so he hoped to be back for the Spurs game but that turns out that’s not going to happen because he’s on the TNT uh panel so he won’t be there for for that which will mean we have McCarthy and goal other emissions I think we’re all good apart from that Yan berner’s going to be back por onu is going to be back so that’s all good news don’t think we’ve got any other injury concerns there but which players you should look out for I’d say Tyler dibling uh absolutely ripping up the Premier League at the moment we were thinking is he going to get Premier League game time and he has and he’s absolutely stor it he’s just an 18 years of age as well so but he’s looking so composed and um one of those players that you watch itself I’m you think yep just enjoying why he here but uh I certainly hope with a year and a half left on his contract and a new contract on the table for him that if something was to happen it would be a hefty price tag but he does have that sort of feeling of watching a Virgil Van dijk or G Bale or a player of that stature um but of course at only 18 years of age he did actually go to Chelsea for about six months he’s a Chelsea fan at heart um but didn’t like it and then came back we worked out a deal to bring him back to Southampton Academy so um so yeah we’re just thr to have him another strong form be Matas Fernandez attacking midfielder has looked absolutely great um and that’s that’s about it really the ones to really shout about would be would be those three players but of course we’ got Kyle Walker Peters in there Flyn DS who hasn’t had a great season if I’m completely nice is still a presence in Midfield and certainly want to uh kind of be a pivot for the game in Midfield so certainly want to watch out for there uh let me see what sort of game you expecting I’m expecting as similar to what I saw against Chelsey now that’s not to say you’re going to win 5-1 or anything like that although that that might happen um uh but I’m expecting a kind of an end endtoend game they’re bouting as El sakiko um with Russell Martin on on the brink and an on the brink as well so I expect to either a very KY game or a very exciting game where it’s kind of endtoend stuff so uh back in the Chelsea game before Jack Stevens got sent off it was actually looking like we were going to get another goal back so I expect this one to be a similar Affair um prediction where will Southampton Spurs finish in the league table at the end of the season um I’m predict ing if if my head’s on right I would say that we’re going to be back in a championship if I’m brutally honest my heart would like to see us still turn it around of course it’s still mathematically possible and we’re only in December um but with five points on the board it’s it’s not looking too good I think Spurs that if you put on on a on a run of form then you could see you pushing back for the the European places but there’s a lot of clubs going for it you know you’ve got Newcastle around there you’ve got Bournemouth and Brighton um who are all sort of overachieving at the moment we got noton Forest up there so there’s a lot of teams up there who you probably expect to drop away a little bit but a lot of them performing very very well so I think it’s going to be pretty tough um to get in around it and of course Chelsea’s back so um who saw that com in two billion in the bank what can you do um let me see okay predicted lineup final question predicted lineup and score prediction tactical setup um I think we’ll probably set up again similar to how we set up against Chelsea not too defensively I think we’ve got to go for it really because we didn’t actually get shot on target when we’re away at Aston Villa so I think Russell M is going to be wanting to prove some of the Nay is wrong so I can see has not been uh overly defensive we we’ve not really been overly defensive at all in the season so far but when I when I say that is is he going to play with three center backs and Wing backs or is he going to stick with a back four um I think I’ll probably stick with a back four so we’ll wait and see see how that one pans up but in terms of score prediction I’ve always got to back my boys and go for a let’s go for a 2-1 Saints win with a pinch of salt there we go but anyway Chris thanks so much for having me on and uh all the best for the rest of the season after this fixture of course but of course you can find me over on matchday vlogs. comom for all the merch stuff but also on YouTube Tik Tok and uh Facebook and and uh Instagram and all those things cool cheers Chris see you [Music]
