yeah awesome awesome win um really proud of this group it was a interesting week and and we just decided from the very beginning that it uh nothing out of our control was going to was going to be an excuse and uh I think guys handled the week really well had to adjust um really the only thing I can compare to is maybe you know having gone through Co a CO football season um but guys just had a just a mentality the entire week we felt good coming into the game and and uh made enough plays can’t say enough about us defensively you know how well we played hold them the hold them down um obviously the big stops uh we we were just uh we were just pretty awesome defensively we really were really played a high level excited to see our front continuing to get more active really starting to affect the game more and more as some of those young guys really come on and play um you know obviously we had a lot of opportunities offensively to really extend the game or extend the lead didn’t play very good in the Red Zone but they got the one there at the end obviously that it and we were tough and resilient so special teams was really good again I mean Eddie was awesome Lance was awesome um so did the things we need to do to win the Rivalry game feels great proud of this group and uh yeah just uh these wins are special we know how much this means to the city how much it need start University so I’m proud to get to win what did J show you on that touchdown just get the field buying time throw yeah he made a he made a great play you know he’s been able to make a few plays for us uh right now in terms of you know when when things aren’t exactly there um making some off schedu plays and you know made you know we did a good job protecting him on that play give him time and uh he did a great job finding Jobe in the back I given all the issues just finishing games this season what did it mean to win this game in the fashion that you did just kind of holding on until the end and finally pushing through yeah I mean I would have taken I would have liked to have scored a few more times in the red zone and not done that way but it’s uh you know we’re battle tested you know we have we’ve been through a lot of them know I told yall when we lost a few of these at some point this is going to become our advantage because we have been in so many we really don’t know anything else honestly and so uh now guys were confident we made the stops and we had to defensively we’re able to get you know a decent drive down there and get the field goal offensively and um it feels great man it does it just uh more than anything not for any other week or anything else that’s happened but just this week and and what we had to overcome to go win this game it feels it feels tremendous and I’m really really proud of how our guys respond you obviously a you know pretty reserved guy in general but you know he’s he’s a competitor and for him to do this he’s you program you think that meant to him and just meant to this program in terms of the faith that you know you you placed it and believe this defense well I I mean I know these games you know we a lot of us have been a part of those where you play you know an alma moer you play somewhere you played or you coached before all that so yeah I’m sure there’s some personal meaning for him but I mean he’s such a team guy um I think he’s just excited for the win excited for the way our guys played um and uh yeah I mean I’m sure it was a meaningful game to him and you know a couple of our guys obviously that have that have been on the opposite sideline here so um but you know tonight was about the team and obviously defensively we were tremendous he and our staff did a great job getting our guys ready Jen can you walk us that touchdown and kind of what when did you see job back uh yeah I mean it was just a I got to be better in my ball security obviously um can’t have the ball out like that um but I mean jaob you know he’s a great player great athlete you know he’s he’s out there obious he came down with the catch unbelievable catch so yeah Lincoln what did you just kind of you talked about the defense already what did you just make of what the defense was able to do just even in that first half where you talked about just you know your Red Zone in efficiency just talk about kind of what your defense was able to do getting lending back for yeah we just we kept swinging you know we were able to affect the quarterback and that was you know obviously that for us has maybe been a little bit of our Achilles heal defensively this year especially early in the year and to see some of these young guys starting to not just young guys but go just the whole D line starting to step up and affect the quarterback and then you know then that changes the way that that we can play the game it gives us opportunities to call things differently to be aggressive in different areas and uh yeah we did a nice job you know we we we kind of we really didn’t break really you know much at all um even after a couple explosive runs we were able to you know they got to Midfield a couple times and we were able to stop them and so uh and just to be resilient and keep going out even though you know we had offensively there were chances on the other side to Extended and we just kept going defensively that’s what that’s what really defenses do that’s what we play like tonight PRI y was the biggest frustration well I mean we we didn’t run the ball well down there we had a number of busted assignments which is kind of strange because that we really were running the ball in the open field pretty well and just some pretty generic things for us that we did not do well and then and in the throw game we had an opportunity to make a lot of one-on-one plays and and we didn’t make enough of them so um you know obviously excited to get the win despite that but we know that’s going to have to get a lot better picture you talked about you talked about how sooner or later you’re going to start to get some of these kinds of big picture how does this sort of what does this do for the program and the guys in that lock North seeing that okay now got yeah it’s I mean winning winning breeds confidence it brings it breeds excitement um it’s it’s confirmation on the things that you do and uh for us to win one especially this fashion um playing as well defensively as we did uh again overcoming all that we did this week and we could write a book about this week alone um and we just we had no excuses attitude and we’ve talked about you know a three- Game season right here at the end U we had a big win last week obviously this is a massive win for us and looking forward to that one next week coach no turnovers tonight those hurt you in the past how refreshing was that how important was it was huge it was huge it was a massive massive part of the game Jay did a good job taking care of it our guys especially in the wet conditions did a great job with ball security and uh yeah it was key um it’s uh it was a game like where you felt like a turnover either side was really going to change the course out you to share more about this week and what you were having to overcome the team yeah I mean we had a I don’t know I don’t want to use the wrong word but I don’t know if I want to say outrate but but like we had a lot of flu I mean like a lot a lot of flu um we practiced Tuesday with I think 27 players out um and it ran through over half the staff and uh guys battled we a lot of guys that didn’t feel very good even here at the end of the week the preparation was uh a little disjointed because of that and uh but we just said from the very beginning like we’re going to get through this this deal here at the beginning of the week and then there are no more excuses we said last night in the team meeting like we wake up in the morning nobody’s sick period nobody’s sick so we healed them all baby a couple game winning drives j a couple game game winning drives to start your USC career that say about you and I guess you two as well what does that say about your quarterback uh I mean obviously we got a great group we got a Brazilian group um sorry yeah like I said we got a resilient group um you know those guys did phenomenal job obviously punching the ball in get last couple drivs but yeah e you’re you’re a guy who said he plays better angry in the past just looked like there’s kind of little bit of skirmish at halftime there what was kind of going on in that situation and what did you observe about a little bit of the chippiness tonight your first time being in the ra it was just a very competitive game you can tell from just the beginning especially with the history between the school two schools I’m used to rivalry coming from a from aate rivalry like this one just just football really you know what I’m saying we go there to compete we both want to win and I think it showed today that most competive game Lincoln were you able to avoid the flu during the week or did you have to deal with some of it no nobody s right I was able to push the button tonight so I found a way it [Music] mean I think it’s uh I think it’s huge especially going into these last three games like like coach said on trying to go on a three game stretch we still got one more before the ball game so we worried about that one about the B game after Haven seen as many snaps as used to the past couple weeks but when time came you still made that play what that say about yeah it was great to see him step up and uh and make some of those plays and we’ve had a lot of different skill guys kind of Step Up at various times throughout the year and he’s you know I got to give him credit I mean he has had a lot of big plays at the end of games you know he’s made some some big time catches and games that have really helped us and this was another one so great step up and J how you uh definitely could be a lot Jaden this is you know as as a transfer this is your you know first time really UCLA rivalry I’m curious just kind of taking in that atmosphere even though it was in the rain what what it feel like to just get a win on the road against your Riv uh I mean I thought it was a great awesome team win um like I said earlier the team is very resilient um you know we just all put our heads down and go to work and awesome to come out the L you’ve talked a lot about just this three game stretch you know fining finishing the season that way the way that you guys played you see we’ve been able to close games what what you hope that this just kind of continues going with next week inre but just CS for the future of this program yeah I mean it’s important you know we we’ve played we’ve played some good football this year we really have and uh you know it’s been a it’s been a unique year and we tried to kind of block out any of the good any of the bad any of the things that went our way anything that didn’t just really focus on being in the moment near in the end and not sometimes you get so wrapped up in all the outside and you miss the opportunities that are just right in front of your face like these are unbelievable opportunities these are lifelong memories uh it was important to this team here at the end certainly to to get a chance to go play another game after next week just because honestly I mean it’s been a really fun team to coach there’s a great vibe in that locker room and I think anybody that’s watched us play like you see like this team leaves it out there every single time I mean they have and so glad that we get to do a couple more together and and uh you know we got a little a good little streak going right now we intend on keeping it going pass from was that in the back of the whole game you knew were going to use it and why was that the right moment for yeah it just felt like it you know felt like it was time to where we maybe needed a spark and guys did a great job executing it um we didn’t put it in until later in the leek but we’re glad we I mean guys executed awesome protected well and maai threw a just a just a dart and uh awesome play by kyri too was a big time play at that moment
