blocks three steals you know 20 rebounds not sure how many other plays he impacted what did you see from him especially defensively but and how did you feel like that impacted the match yeah he was he was phenomenal tonight and it just shows you how a player that he can have a seven for 20 night and still dominate a basketball game um you know for for the group I really felt like this might be my my favorite win we’ve had all season just because we weren’t um we weren’t efficient offensively but because of our crashing because we limited them in transition um limited them to to one shot like all of the things that we’ve preached that give yourself a chance to win every night if you have an off shooting night and an off offensive night uh we did tonight and it just the the group was great we had so many different uh contributions at different times um you know Max and and Gabe with the the offensive rebounds late um some defensive plays from cam just really good really good stuff uh and then you know AR LeBron ad you know they they were they were great as always with Austin we mentioned something to him the other night where he’s been you know trying to turn the corner a little more in attacking and he he likes to talk about himself as like not a says I’m not fast I’m not an athlete obviously that’s right relative being in the NBA but did you have that conversation with him about the thrust that he can do getting downhill and because it seemed like there was a lot of what you call the paint to great tonight yeah we we we talk about it all the time with him um and a lot of that uh discussion is sent around you know his decision- making once he touches the paint um there’s one play I think sabon has got a block from behind where he might have you know it was a late late contest but he might have had a guy in the corner outside of that he made great decisions uh when he got downhill and just he just provides us with again that that thrust particularly in the half court um I think he’s a great athlete I’ll be honest with you I think he’s a great athlete maybe not the 1% of the NBA but he’s in the 1% of the the world yeah LeBron second game back since the the absence what did you make of his night did you see a similar approach um that you saw in the last game against m yeah I did um I thought the group um played the right way offensively particularly to start the third quarter um I I I ended up not having to use the timeout but I challenged it at halftime to just go play not walk the ball up get into our stuff quicker play like we we do most of the time in the first half to start the third um because of the timeout situation just the game Flow I didn’t end up using that that timeout four minutes in but um I thought he was a big part of that um getting to Second actions being a screener being a hub um you know I I think guess you know outside of a couple guys you know we we we didn’t get like great shooting Nights from guys but the the way we played and the process with which we played I really I really liked JJ uh we asked you before the game about the corner crashing and the offensive rebounding tonight 15 offensive rebounds obviously a lot of that for ad0 was in the paint but Max had three and and several guys had some key Corner crashes um what what did you make of of that and and just continuing to emphasize that yeah thought it gave us um not just extra opportunities it gives you life um you know you you miss a couple shots in a row it can be deflating um I think we were plus 14 or plus 15 in scoring opportunities tonight um so you in terms of The Possession game we did a really good job both with our turnovers um I think we ended up with uh 11 three shot clock violations um but you know that was that was big uh between that and the the crashes and and our ability to just get multiple stops in a row uh on a on a a poor shooting night uh one possession welcome back to Lakers news Squad the ultimate destination for all the latest Lakers updates analysis and trade talk today we’re diving into the buzz around the Los Angeles Lakers as they look to strengthen their roster particularly in the front court with the February 6th trade deadline fast approaching while LeBron James and Anthony Davis continue to perform at an elite level the Lakers find themselves in a position where they need to make some serious moves if they want to secure a higher playoff spot in the ultra compet itive western conference let’s take a closer look at the trade rumors surrounding the Lakers and their search for two big men who could make a significant impact the Lakers current situation middle of the pack with room for improvement as we head into the latter half of the 2024 2025 NBA season the Los Angeles Lakers are sitting in the middle of the Western Conference standings currently in 10th place they are only 3.5 games out of the second seed proving just how tight the race is in the west while LeBron James continues to defy age and play at an MVP caliber level and Anthony Davis is showing why he’s one of the best big men in the league the rest of the roster has struggled to meet expectations in particular the Lakers have faced major issues on the defensive side of the ball which has led to inconsistencies in the their overall performance before the season began analysts were already predicting that the Lakers would need to make a move or two to bolster their roster especially to improve their depth and defense as we approach the trade deadline it seems those predictions are coming true the Lakers are actively looking to add a big man to their lineup with their sight set on two players who could provide the rim protection and rebounding that desperately need but the question remains will these potential trades be enough to elevate the Lakers into true Championship contention the Lakers trade targets Robert Williams and Jonas valunas according to Chris manx of Sports Illustrated the Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly targeting two big men to add to their front Court Robert Williams of the Portland Trailblazers and Jonas valunas of the Washington Wizards let’s take a closer look at each player and why they’re on the Lakers radar Robert Williams Portland Trailblazers Robert Williams the 6’9 center from the Portland Trailblazers is a player who has tantalizing potential but comes with some injury concerns this season Williams has played in just eight games but in that limited time he’s averaged 9.4 points 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game when healthy Williams is known for his high energy rebounding and rim protection two areas where the Lakers have struggled this season his ability to defend the rim and clean up the glass would provide an immediate boost to a Lakers team that has often been vulnerable in these areas the downside of course is Williams injury history while he’s shown flashes of Brilliance staying on the court has been an ongoing issue throughout his career however if the Lakers are able to take the risk and land him Williams could be the kind of player who helps solidify their defense and provide much needed backup to Anthony Davis in the front Court Jonas Valen unas Washington Wizards Jonas Valen unas is a familiar name to many NBA fans the veteran big man has spent time with the Memphis Grizzlies and now the Washington Wizards where he has continued to put up solid numbers this season valent junis is averaging 12.0 points 7.6 rebounds and has been a consistent presence in the paint while he’s been in and out of the starting lineup valunas brings an established skill set that could benefit the Lakers his rebounding and physical presence in the paint would help the Lakers Shore up their front Court depth and improve their overall interior defense although Valen unas isn’t known for his shot blocking like Robert Williams his experience and strength would provide a reliable option for the Lakers he can also stretch the floor a bit with his mid-range shooting adding versatility to the front Court given the Lakers need for more size and toughness down low valent chunis could be a great addition to complement the team’s other stars the bigger problem a roster full of holes while adding a big man is an obvious priority the Lakers issues extend beyond just the front Court the team has a number of areas where they’re struggling and a single trade may not be enough to solve all of their problems in the back court Max Christie hasn’t shown the kind of development many had hoped for and D’Angelo Russell has been inconsistent at best Russell’s performances have been a roller coaster ride this season with some games where he looks like an Allstar followed by games where he gets benched or struggles to contribute the Lakers need someone who can provide more stability and consistency in their back court particularly alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis moreover while ruy haimura has stepped up in a big way this season the Lakers could use more depth across the board their roster needs more contributors who can step in and perform when needed especially as the team continues to fight for a playoff spot with so many issues to address it’s clear that the Lakers are not looking for minor changes they need a major overhaul if they want to compete for a title can the Lakers make the Right Moves the Lakers do have assets they could trade to improve the team D’Angelo Russell ruie haimura and a few first round picks are all potential trade pieces that could help the Lakers land the big man they need however the Lakers competition in the western conference is fierce with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder on the rise and boasting a large pool of assets for trades the challenge for the Lakers will be to make the right deals without giving up too much of their future potential especially as they continue to rely heavily on LeBron James and Anthony Davis as always the health of LeBron and Davis will be a huge Factor in determining how far the Lakers can go this season if either of them were to go down with an injury the Lakers would be in serious trouble regardless of any trades they make so it’s not just about adding players it’s about ensuring that the team stays healthy and that their Stars can lead them to the playoffs looking ahead what’s next for the Lakers the next month will be crucial for the Lakers they’ve shown signs of improvement recently and fans have been holding on to hope as the team gains some momentum however if the Lakers start to Trend downward again things could get much more interesting as we approach the trade deadline rumors have even surfaced about LeBron James being traded although he’s publicly denied them regardless if the Lakers find themselves far out of the playoff race Anything could happen at the end of the day the Lakers are a team that never fails to entertain whether they’re on top of the conference or struggling to stay afloat there’s never a dull moment in La the trade deadline will provide us with plenty of drama and Intrigue and whatever moves the Lakers decide to make you can count on us to keep you updated with all the latest news conclusion will the Lakers make the Right Moves the Lakers pursuit of a big man to shore up their front court is the top priority as the trade deadline approaches players like Robert Williams and Jonas valunas could be the missing pieces that help the Lakers reach their full potential however with several holes still present throughout the roster the Lakers will need to make more than just one move to truly compete at the highest level do you think the Lakers should go after Robert Williams or Jonas valent chunis or do you believe they should make a bigger Splash with other trades let us know your thoughts in the comments below and if you’re enjoying our Lakers coverage make sure to like this video And subscribe to Lakers news squad for more
