they’re not my Providence PR I just really like this team uh my name’s Guy Franklin I’m here with subie subie what are you looking for in this game Bryce Hopkins might be back like let’s throw a parade here guy how awesome is that we I think the the technical verbiage right now is that he’s likely to play you can’t you can’t drop that and then not play him right like that wouldn’t be fair to us obviously I’m in all seriousness looking out for his health but that wouldn’t be fair to us would a guy it’s almost like someone saying dude I heard heard this one thing about so and so but I can’t tell you but I did hear something crazy going on so I’m excited for Bryce Hopkins to hopefully play he is a huge difference he’s just a huge difference maker guy because I also like PC they’re frustrating as hell but that’s also part of the charm for me like over the course of the last few years they just play so hard and this year they’re bring in the defensive intensity much like years previous but I haven’t really played anyone just yet uh but back to Bryce Hopkins man he’s just going to give Providence a huge boost offensively which is what they desperately desperately need I mean I hope Bryce Hopkins can just insert this jolt of energy into their uh offense because it’s been abysmal really uh them and Sean Hall I feel like have been two of the worst offenses in the Big East but unlike seen Hall Providence hasn’t lost just yet they go up against this sooner team uh that is a a good squad but I think you have to start guy with Bryce Hopkins potentially returning yeah I mean he’s you want to know how much of a difference maker is look at providence’s season before they lost him to injury last year and look at this their season after they lost him to injury last year no amount of Devin Carter is goingon to improve that right you know obviously we know how good he is with Sacramento Kings now uh I mean he’s hurt but Providence guys keep keep getting hurt I don’t like that they’re such a fun team um Now sort of switching over to Oklahoma obviously you know we want to see Bryce Hopkins back and I think if he is back I I don’t think it’s reasonable to pick a team other than Providence to win this game Oklahoma lost OA o this off season obviously he’s a big piece they pick up a guy who I really like in Kobe Elvis from Dayton um I think if he if he returned to Dayton there would be more Buzz about picking them against UNC that’s not the point Oklahoma is another one of these teams that has played nobody just like Providence really we have no idea how good either of these teams are and we’re gonna not really going to figure it out when they play each other because who knows one of them could be bad and one of them could be good but uh just looking at the pieces you know you got you got guys like your you got your Sam godwins you got your Kobe Elvis’s but you know it doesn’t tell you that much when you’re beating Northwestern State at all uh just sort of like oh that’s a thing that you can do in college basketball uh obviously you got Jeremiah FS who’s looked great and uh I’m sure that I just stole you about to talk about him so subie tell me about Jeremiah Fierce no actually I was gonna pivot and talk about Sam Godwin uh he’s done a really good job down low rebounding for the Sooners and I’ve been impressed with him uh he averages double figures in that category and Oklahoma does a really good job of turning you over actually and I think that’s something again this is against inferior competition but if you’re all we can do is take what we’ve seen on tape and what we’ve seen from these teams and that is I’m confident in providence’s defense and I’m also Pro uh confidence confident excuse me in Godwin playing well uh down low there for for the Sooners I just don’t know if PC will score enough on the other end like on the offensive end I just feel like they they can’t put the ball the hoop just yet and there’s only so much you can rely on Bryce Hopkins for he’s not going to be in game shape just yet he’s not going to be fully up to speed I don’t think it’s fair to play him super heavy minutes and I also don’t think it’s fair to expect him to uh be as good as maybe he will be like right at tip as opposed to like the last five minutes of the game that’s where I think that game might get might get lost but I actually think Sam Godwin’s done a really good job uh for the Sooners thus far um it’s going to be interesting to see how PC handles Oklahoma’s front court and it’ll be interesting to see what Kim English does in terms of personnel decisions with Hopkins uh coming back but Providence also does a really good job of cleaning up the glass I think this is going to be a really close game guy like I’m not going to give away scores just yet but I think this is going to be a very very tight matchup another thing to look out for neither of these teams shoot free throws well whatsoever I think Oklahoma’s somewhere in the 70s and I think Providence is somewhere in the 60s that could create some really good theater um where teams are going to the line to ice the game and they just can’t do it so be on the lookout for that too yeah I was about to say that I think you know assuming you don’t get a vintage Bryce Hopkins performance I think it’s very real we see the X Factor in this game being uh some some Providence front Court guys you know you’re you’re to SOS of the world just because we know that a guy like Jaden Pierre in the back court is going to do his job we know benley Joseph is going to do his job the front court has been iffy at at best and just bad sometimes uh in the Hampton game for example um and I think if you see a guy like Asanda really have his I this was one of the guys who I thought was going to break out you know first off his name is Christ and Christ and he’s going to a big East Catholic School uh you know I figured that would go pretty well literally called the Friars I mean it’s just a match made in heaven um but uh I think if you can get him him really going he was you know obviously really good at uh St Joe’s last year and uh I think if you can get him going that you know he’s a lot bigger than a guy like Godwin he can clean up the glass and uh Godwin’s actually a former walk-on which is something that I learned uh recently uh which is probably why he isn’t the biggest guy in the world um but I think that if you can sort of get these you know uh inconsistent front Court pieces going for Providence uh I don’t think it’ll be a close game I I Providence was a team that going into the year just looking at the roster on paper you know Bryce Hopkins obviously a picture at full strength I thought this team could make a sweet 16 even after they lost Devin Carter and I still think that that’s true I mean they haven’t lost a game yet they haven’t VCU me um uh but we’ll we’ll see I I really do I I rate I rate the Kobe Elvis Jeremiah fears back court super highly of Oklahoma and I think they they’ve also got Jaylen Moore obvious not I think I know they have Jaylen Moore but uh I was just trying to do a swift little pivot into talking about Jaylen so I’m glad you did I mean Jaylen Moore has been pouring it in uh he’s averaging nearly 20 points he’s been their go-to scorer right now and he’s part of that front Court calculus I guess that Kim English is gonna have to figure out right and so I I wouldn’t I would expect them to limit him just a little bit just because uh I’ve been very impressed with providence’s defense and their toughness that’s one thing that’s going to be a staple of anywhere Kim English goes and it’s really been a staple of Providence even dating back to Ed kie um so I think it’ll be an interesting front Court matchup to see how they’re able to keep Godwin off the glass if they do and how they can limit Jaylen Moore but yeah Jaylen Moore has been off to a really tremendous start and they’re going to need him in SEC play um I forgot about that uh I don’t like that oh yeah SCC play Baby them the them in the horns I really don’t like that sorry that that knocked me out for a second um go going back to to man sorry uh got flustered yeah you got me flustered this is there’s so big I was about to talk about the Big 12 um uh Oklahoma obviously last year had a that you know that late season collapse really uh you know they were they were top 10 top 15 in that uh the the week 12 AP poll or the week six AP poll that everyone’s like oh every National Championship ever has been rank ranked in the top 15 from that one and uh they were in it and everyone was like oh Oklahoma that’s going to be my trendy pick and then they you know they they choked um the wheels literally fell off of their wagon oh very funny very clever um but uh what I think was is sort of interesting is seeing how they can sort of you know they’re a good team early in the year so we expect them to be good not a big home field advantage here so you know obvious or homec court advantage whatever same difference um so you know it’s going to be it’s gonna be I think a good litmus test to see where both of these teams are I really like Kobe Elvis I I know that he’s sort of not the star um he wasn’t the star at Dayton last year with donon Holmes I think that there’s a chance that we’re going to see him go nuclear at at some point soon I feel like he’s just one of those guys that has that in him and uh you know maybe you have a different pick pick to click that’s very fun uh for this game but I I’m I’m gonna be watching Kobe Elvis and chry toico the most yeah I’m it might be casual but all eyes on Bryce Hopkins I want to see how he looks out there especially as he gets like his first shift second shift out of the way I want to see how he’s able to try and catch himself up to game speed I’m not going to sit here and knock the kid if he’s not up to game speed I don’t particularly expect him to be but from PC side again call me a casual but Bryce Hopkins is the guy I’m looking at I expect him to be up to game speed I can’t picture Bryce Hopkins not at game speed you can’t just come sheld after like a year off and just be ready to go but what does not games like what what does Bryce Hopkins look like when he’s jogging I don’t think I’ve ever seen him he just he’s full speed the whole time and I know that’s not what you’re talking about I I know you’re you’re you’re you know doing the literary you know uh he’s not gonna be himself fully I can’t imagine Bryce Hopkins not being a star it’ll he’ll get there I I’m I fully expect him to give this offense a jolt and and like a spike that it needs I just don’t know if it’s going to come in this partic like it will come in this particular game because the bar is in hell for PC when it comes to the offense so they’ll be better with him on the floor is it gonna be enough to beat Oklahoma personally guy I don’t think so because I don’t think what’s your what’s your final score projection presented by diamond.com I don’t think Providence even with Bryce Hopkins in this first game like can put the ball in the hoop enough I think it’s going to take a little a few games for Bryce to get comfortable and get up to game speed that’s why I have Oklahoma winning 72 to 76 it’s going to be a tight tight matchup though but Sooners win 7276 what about you well I actually had the score 72 in my my final score pred uh prediction I think Providence also scores 72 I think they win 7269 I think it’s going to be another good one uh I was never going to pick against the friar in this one uh you know call me you know I love I love just everything about pcbc uh on the the Providence College burner community on Twitter yeah every everything about this school is just so much fun uh uh I think my my other bold prediction I think we see 30 points combined from Jaden Pierre and Bryce Hopkins I think one of them is in for a big game I think maybe you know it’s I think more likely it’s 22 from Jaden and eight from Hopkins but I really like Jaden Pierre and I the other thing I think is I think we’re getting 15 points at minimum from Kobe Elvis uh I I I want to make those give me a Kobe Elvis double double uh 10 assists he’s gonna pick up um but I think that I want to I I like Providence on paper more than I like Oklahoma on paper I coming into the preseason I put Providence in the back half of my top 25 not because I think that they’re a top 25 team but just because I want to say that I was on them early because I think that they’re going to get better A lot better as the season goes on Oklahoma I feel like is gonna be one of those teams to decline an nit bid this year and I don’t like it when teams decline an nit bid but I think I think they might do that and look I love Porter Moser right I I love him I want Oklahoma to succeed I don’t think this is a great matchup especially for Sam Godwin who’s like you said he’s been an sort of unsung X Factor down low I don’t know how he’s going to grab so many boards over two seven foot tall guys do you think we see Anton Bon this game I Bean sparingly this I want to see I want to see him him too but this is the like their first real competition at least it’s a step up in competition is what I should say uh somehow Oklahoma is ranked like 20 spots higher on Evan Mia kawa’s Evan mia.com friend of the program uh than provinces uh I trust Evan uh with my life even you know I I his his metrics are great I don’t know how he came up with those numbers because they haven’t played anywh like I mean Hampton beat Duane which I guess is the best win out of anyone any of these teams have played Providence played them but even then Dukane is 0 and six so not really
