the Toronto scepter hosted the Montreal victoire in their first meeting of the season and it was a big rivalry last year when Montreal well they couldn’t come away with a win against Toronto so the stage was set and the hard-hitting started early oh it did and just exactly what you would expect with these two teams that they’re going to come in and they’re going to battle and this was a physical game from start to finish we saw a lot of big hits we saw some penalties bodies were being thrown it was a fantastic game and again these two teams there’s a rivalry building already Montreal who hasn’t beat Toronto and Toronto who’s in a bit of a slump so you can see that these two teams are competitive they want this game and they’re going to do anything they can to get it and it was a big night in net as well considering Reagan Kirk getting her first pwhl start rolling off of her debut earlier in the week taking over in the third period for Campbell So Reagan Kirk gets a start and she stood tall oh she was fantastic I thought she was excellent for this team she in it she gave them an opportunity to win she made big saves when she needed to make them and often times she wasn’t just making one she was making two and three in a sequence and absolutely fantastic battling covering pucks and you watch her and kicking pucks into the corner her rebound control one save two save three saves and and so she she was good she was exactly what this team needed made 35 saves in the effort her team at times getting outshot badly and again she kept them in it and gave him a chance chance to win well 11 minutes on the penalty kill was Toronto although they were perfect through that which is a big feather in their cap given a 54% on the PK coming into Saturday’s game but it did come down to Big goals when they mattered well absolutely and Toronto had the lead going into the third period but it was Lena young Bloom who was able to tie things up in the third great play in the corner drives the net gets the backhand turns in the forehand and again Reagan Kirk making the initial save just can’t make the second one they go into overtime this is a quick overtime pul land to Stacy Stacy in forehand to backhand and she ends this one in a hurry Montreal takes the two points Toronto can only walk away with one and historic because not only Montreal’s first ever win over Toronto but the first overtime defeat in the regular season for the sceps and this is how the final stats played out those shots on go definitely going Montreal’s way along with the faceof wins but those scoring opportunities were Fair close as well but this night was about more than hockey was cancer awareness as well and in support of Erica how she was the backup goal tender for Toronto last season announced her retirement in the summer that’s also when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and the crowd the players the coaches everyone involved showing their support including at the very end of this game the emotions flowing pulin and many others crying as well because they love and support Erica how who’s now on that Journey while both these teams now head into the holiday break and they will resume action next weekend
