🕵️‍♂️ Transcript:

it was it was a lot of fun to be out with this group um I thought it was a good game overall um obviously they got one early and I think uh we didn’t do the best job responding right away but overall I think once we got our feed add us uh we had some good offensive zone time and we’re generating chances and um yeah I think uh it was a good start yeah obviously a lot of pressure uh put on myself when I know that I’m trying out for the team still but I like to go into it with the mindset of you know just enjoy yourself and play hockey like you know what to do out there um just be confident in yourself so I think uh working on my confidence coming into today’s game and just you know focusing on what coach wanted us to do but also showing my skill and what I’m good at so yeah just keeping it light and having fun is is how I came into today today was that easier after getting that goal second obviously nice to get a goal that felt good but um yeah it definitely makes it boosts the confidence to be able to put a puck in the net it’s fun I mean obviously I’m my hometown team and I know a lot of those girls but um it was just good to get the first you know game out of the way against a different opponent than uh just practicing with our girls so it was fun and um just a good start um yeah I think they they put in place kind of more of a criteria of what is allowed and what isn’t allowed I still think it’s going to be work in progress out there for the Reps and the players to to really play by those rules but um yeah you have a good angle like you have the green light so um that was a physical game I found that really physical especially coming off a rivalry series um where the rules are a little bit different like I thought that was a very fysical game um but yeah it’s going to be work in progress even in year two to figure out where that line is yeah I think a little bit like I think it’s it’s always nice to have a balance of some players that are a little bit bigger Who Um can handle those those plays but um overall across the league like it it’s just going to take everyone getting used to that level and and figuring out how to use their body the right way to protect the puck and uh to accept those those that body contact so um yeah I think it’s an emphasis across the league to just learn overall how to how to manage it yeah I think I think it’s just being like have being more heads up um pre-scanning and uh just knowing how to protect yourself when you’re going into the boards and stuff like that um and I think the new players will learn that pretty quick but uh yeah that’s the biggest takeaway overall from last year no I don’t think so I think my mentality has always been to get a good angle and then if I feel I can rub out a bit I can um I think what the League’s trying to get away from is the when you’re skating in different directions and that’s when you’re making contact UM and that’s something that we’ve never really had in the women’s game um but I think if if you’re skating in the same direction as a player um you have that green light to go so for me personally that’s kind of the mentality I’ve always had yeah I mean I think we saw the one Jesse was out there she had to play D so I think it’s just going to be an adjustment for everyone uh kind of like everyone’s got to know what they’re doing on the penalty kill which is probably going to be new there’s a lot of players who maybe played on the penalty kill before or maybe they didn’t and they’re going to have to fill those roles so I think it’s just just it’s a really unique role but I think it’s kind of exciting I think probably they want to get more goals but uh as fors definitely be ready to play D which might be a little uncomfortable at first but um it’s kind of an exciting it’s definitely a physical game out there but I feel like uh from experience of last year that’s just how the game is played and you just got to be ready for people to be throwing their body out there bumps stick lifts um yeah I’d say that was especially last year I mean we played them in playoffs the last game that’s how we ended our season so I think there was some uh fire under us to play aggressive and play physical so it was a pretty I feel like it was a pretty heated game I think it definitely helps I mean yeah that’s definitely my game I’m more of a playmaker but I think um I got to learn to shoot the puck when I have the chance cuz you know there’s only a few times you’re going to find yourself in a good scoring situation so I think I definitely got to work on that but it’s good to just get reps uh no matter who I’m playing with uh I’m still going to try to play my game and uh make my teammates uh better Around Me by making plays so uh definitely good to get reps with different players uh especially in a game setting uh I think yes and no but I think um sometimes I think chemistry just comes like in an instant it’s like sometimes it’s like a slow burn maybe you might build that but sometimes maybe you’ll just like catch lightning in a bottle and find something with someone um just like out of the blue and then it sticks so I think it’s kind of you know whatever the coaches think uh put people together like I’m good with that and I’ll just go with that so um I don’t think it’s that big of a deal to be moving people around um I think we’re still working through but I I I honestly think that Montreal Toronto one’s always going to be there I think it was there last year um and it will carry carry on there’s no doubt about it it’s just I think it’s just natural um but yeah I think Minnesota is always going to be one as well there’s a lot of Canadians on that on our team and a lot of Americans on that team so that’s another one
