Haymon reports that the New York Yankees have recently upgraded their initial offer to one Juan SoDo hymon also reports that the Yankees have contacted free agent starting pitchers Corbin Burns and maximilan freed so the Yankees are apparently upping their offer a bit and look I’ll tell you guys off the bat that part of it I believe let me let me just get this out before I talk about SoDo can I get something out the way real quick where is it at let me get this out the way real quick folks let me switch over to this I want to get something out of the way real quick after this news came out of nowhere right you guys I I was on Discord talking to you guys about if you’re not a member become a damn member today folks join the Discord server trust me it’s really freaking fun but I was on there today and last night when the news broke about Blake Snell right Yankees had a zoom call with Blake Snell just today but their near total focus is on Juan SoDo their plan B’s need to wait a bit can I just say something real quick I don’t know about you guys I’m calling [ __ ] on this I’m calling [ __ ] all the Yankee beat rep reporters after the news breaks hey the Yankees had interest now I’m not sitting there saying the Yankees didn’t have interest I’m not sitting there saying they didn’t have a conversation with Blake Snell and say hey look if this doesn’t work out we’re very interested and snow may have said I got an offer on the table already I don’t I don’t know I I don’t know I just find it very weird all of a sudden the starting pitcher gets signed oh the Yankees were in were they really in were the Yankees really in cuz that just seems like something that John hayon again Scott Boris guy to put information out could have easily put out about Blake Snell there wasn’t a whisper of Yankees interest this early in Blake Snell now you got the interest in Max freed and Corbin Burns and this and that I I just don’t believe it I I don’t believe it I don’t believe there was interest I really don’t it’s it’s just weird to me how it seems to always happen I don’t know Kev oh my God he says thankful for you Macho King and NYU Macho King cup of coffee in the big switch over and take a listen to what Mark feinan had to say on MLB Network an offer to SoDo was upped by the Yankees tell us what you know about that and overall where’re things stand so the way this process seems to be working is there was an initial round of offers uh that were supposed to come in Pre Thanksgiving they did uh but it was sort of like that just gives stto and Scott Boris an idea of where these teams stand how serious they are uh and then they’re going to come back and and there will be another round the Yankees have apparently already gone to that second round look the Yankees have made it clear they want stto back they’re planning on doing what they can to try to retain him I think the biggest threat to them is the Mets Steve Cohen has more money than everybody else in baseball and if he sets his sights on Juan stto he can do something that no other owner can would just spend whatever he wants uh and not blink when doing so so I still think it’s going to come down to the Yankees and Mets the yeah guys well there you go uh you don’t need you don’t need M Mo Network and anybody else to tell you that piz manet’s been telling you that for quite some time now that the Yankees and the Mets are the teams uh that could very that that are likely going to be the final winners in Juan stto and look I maintain where I am call it biased call it what you want and I’ve said this before people that I know that are familiar with sto’s thinking that are familiar with the way you know some of the initial conversations have gone I said it right here on this broadcast some of those people think he’s going to the Mets and look I I’ve said this multiple times but I have the belief that H Stein brenon when he wants to get somebody and he knows what a slap in the face this will be to him and to his organization I think the Yankees are going to get him that is still my opinion my opinion is that Juan soda’s a Yankee if he’s not a Yankee he’s a New York Met I I don’t see him going anywhere else you know uh again I just want to let people understand this I am telling you that out of Pete simonetti’s own bias and Pete simonetti’s own brain this is this is a time when I will tell you I am a little biased because I want this guy here but people that are in the know that like SoDo a lot that like sto on the Yankees a lot of those people are are even telling me hey don’t count the Mets out if I had to guess today I think he’s going I think he’s going to go to the Mets I I I believe that and these are people I trust and people I like a lot so I is it is it possible yes but I maintain where I am since June that it’s the Mets are the Yankees and I know a lot of Yankee fans downplayed it early oh had a Mets how can he go to the Mets money and the Mets are building a pretty decent looking Club over there do they have work to do yes of course they do but they’re building a pretty decent Club over there and look Steve Cohen bringing somebody to his Mansion hey man he could talk anybody up in into saying hey come on man jump in this jump jump on jump on to this side it’s pretty nice over here right now and it’s only going to get better possibility of the Yankees maybe making a deal with the Cardinals now look I’m gon I am going to talk about Brendan Donovan yeah everybody knows I got videos of Brendan Donovan over the last two seasons I’ve always liked him I’ve liked him a lot there’s some rumors connecting the Yankees to the Cardinals and look I’m not big into the game of what would a deal take what would a deal look like I’ve never been ultra big into doing stuff like that because I don’t know I mean we don’t really know what what the official deal would look like I hear Nolan Aron’s name a lot and it’s funny because in our group chat today Christian from nyst and I’ll share this he he wouldn’t mind if I share this he was just like I mean h how would you make that deal like if the Cardinals did approach you and they’re like look Nolan wants to play first base you guys need a first baseman how can we make this work because he wants out and we want to help him get to a different club we want to try to be fair here how can you make this work I think the and and we kind of came together and said I mean in reality I’m not taking that money so if you want to make this work you got to take two contracts from us if you’re really serious about figuring this out and hell if we got to add a mid-tier prospect to that yeah as Macho just said you’re talking about guys like DJ lameu you’re talking about guys like Marcus strowman I mean you would have to go ahead and add and take some of our salar so it’s almost like a swap out and I don’t know if the Cardinals are overly interested in something like that but just because that deal is so complex and it’s very complicated I decided to leave him off the idea of bringing him on board with the guy like brandan Donovan I decided to keep it separate in this scenario because guys you know I’m doing these lineup things it’s fun to look at it’s fun to think about but here’s what I did with this lineup I went pretty SI simple so it’s not as hard to imagine this being possible right I sat back and I said I think sto is going to be a Yankee so I locked in Juan stto back in rightfield I then said what is the likeliest easiest scenario potentially for the Yankees at first base well I’ve been told and I reported on this the other day and I said the people that are saying that are correct the Yankees really really do like Christian Walker I’ve been told this again they really like Christian Walker and I was told that is with or without SoDo they they really do want to make a run at Christian Walker okay so let’s just say the Yankees signed Christian Walker to a three-year deal play along with me here forget all of the madness out there or yeah but what would the deal look like how much money I don’t know I don’t know how much money I don’t know what the trades would look like I don’t know then when it comes to Brendan Donovan he’s played a lot more Third Base than he has second base I think the last time he played second base he actually played to position pretty well a little above average I like Brendan Donovan at second base I I wouldn’t take Jazz off of third maybe the Yankees would make that swap because Brendan Donovan I believe he’s been pretty good at third base doesn’t have the arm that jazz has I don’t think he’s as athletic as Jazz but he’s a gamer the guy’s a gamer and let me tell you something he would be the perfect base Juan SoDo right field judge and left Stanton dhing Jazz at third base Christian Walker at first base Austin Wells catching center fielder Jason Dominguez and then your short stop is Anthony vulpi I got to be real with you folks for one second you know I hear people talk about all of the um Nolan AR andado stuff I’ll say this if the Yankees were able to give away some of those contracts and you switch first base Christian Walker and Nolan arado I really don’t give a [ __ ] I’d be okay with that that’s really [ __ ] good that’s really good so even if it was Donovan SoDo judge Stanton Jazz Aron Wells Dominguez vulpi I love it yeah but these aren’t common Lefty lefties that’s the problem here I know I knew people are going to go yeah but the Lefty Lefty I don’t like that don’t worry about the Yankees did Lefty Lefty a lot last year they did it more in the middle of the order but I don’t mind that one bit Donovan and stto are guys that that could hit lefties these are good players overall Brendan Donovan uh let me take that off the screen here for a second we’ll switch over to Donovan and take a look it’s a good ball player folks it’s a guy who puts the ball in play he doesn’t Chase he gets on base he hits all over the field his power is to right field well that’s perfect that Yankee Stadium his power being a guy that smacks the ball out the right field that’s phenomenal that’s phenomenal I’m for that you scroll down how many homers he had in the year he had 14 I didn’t look at this yet let’s see how many he’d have at Yankee Stadium let’s scroll down and take a look this is always fun to do you would have had 19 bombs at Yankee Stadium 19 bombs imagine the Yankees having a lead off guy getting on base at a 340 clip imagine the Yankees having an leadoff guy that’s hitting 270 plus holy [ __ ] holy [ __ ] where do they where do those days go sign me up for that one sign me up for that one this is a hell of a ball player Brendan Donovan again I don’t want to get too caught up in yeah people but what would that I don’t I I don’t know I’m GNA be honest with you guys I don’t know what that would cost you know what I mean I don’t do Brendan Donovan cost you Park Schmid maybe I I don’t know I don’t know um I haven’t heard rumors about the Yankees being connected to Donovan I haven’t heard that you know I I couldn’t sit here and tell you here’s what the deal would be I I don’t know I really don’t I don’t know what the Cardinals necessarily need I don’t know uh my one concern is what is going to happen with DJ carry that’s that’s the issue right there right is if if the Cardinals are interested in moving Aeron a look I I wouldn’t be mad at NL and Aon if they take contracts if somehow you convince them and you say look you got to take DJ lameu and Marcus strowman I don’t Cardinals fans might say Peter you nuts maybe I I don’t freaking know I’m saying what I it would have to take for me to make that deal because I’m not paying Nolan AR onado a lot of money I’m not doing that and let me just get something past everybody really quickly here too because I do want to bring this up Nolan Aon a lot of people are sitting there talking about how bad he is he is so much [ __ ] better than DJ lameu folks it’s not even close and I’ll even go one further look look it’s not the sexiest numbers in the world for Nolan ronado it’s not he’s 33 years old it’s not the sexiest numbers in the world but I’ll tell you this you give me his 2025 over Anthony Rizzo any day of the week any day of the week give me Nolan over over over Anthony Rizzo is his power numbers maybe gonna slightly go down potentially it will potentially it will can Nolan Aron hit 270 again I think he could can he have a 320 Plus on base percentage again I think he could would he also play good defense at first base oh I really think he would actually play some good defense at first base if the Yankees wanted to say hey look I know we got Jazz but he could this kid could play Third Base anytime he wants to [ __ ] it [ __ ] it I’ll put put him at first base he’s the one saying I’ll play first base he’s a contact hit he puts the ball in play is he in his prime no should you expect him to turn back to 2022 and hit 30 homers and bat 290 no and I’m not advocating I’m not advocating for the Yankees to make this move all I’m simply saying is if the carders are open to saying this guy wants to move and we want to help him move Mo to a contender he could play first base he wants to play first base well the Yankees need a first baseman if if we make this move and we sit there and and the cardners are open to saying we could discuss other contracts contracts that you have and swap them out I don’t know why people are overly against that I’m all for it I if if you could go ahead if you could go ahead and swap contracts sign me up sign me up um you know it’s way above my pay grade to kind of understand what those deals will look like I don’t know if it’s something Brian Cashman necessarily wants to do but man oh man again folks you pull this you you take a look at this lineup and like I said man you you go ahead and you go hey maybe maybe Brendan Donovan comes along in that deal and the Yankees had a couple of um a couple of uh a couple other prospects there or something else to entice them a little bit and throwing Brendan Donovan in that get another pitcher yes why not does it mean that we’re going to go out there and get Burns I don’t know maybe not maybe it’s not burns the Yankees need Burns I like Burns but don’t get me wrong the Yankees if you look on paper okay the Yankees are probably more well positioned with starting pitchers than the majority of clubs then the majority of teams Cole rhon strowman Nester Cortez heel Schmidt they got six legitimate starting pitchers right now six legitimate starting pitchers this moment how are the Yankees paying Soo more than judge all right that’s the last time I respond to you from winning a World Series do you guys remember who hit the three run home run in Cleveland Juan SoDo he was the best hitter in the postseason for the Yankees if they want to win long term SoDo and judge will be there back to back they got very close you can make an argument again this is not taking nothing away from the Dodgers I’ll talk about them here momentarily it’s not taking nothing away from the Dodgers the Yankees also beat themselves in the World Series they played like [ __ ] excuse me they played terrible but the Yankees also beat themselves no doubt about it no doubt about they really did they beat themselves and that’s a problem that you know that the Yankees themselves are going to have but but they really did they beat up themselves badly on that one we got a couple of okay with letting soda go please find out what war means in the MLB then understand Soto put up an 8.1 war and also on top of that he doesn’t even have great defense uh same thing for Aaron judge and center field imagine what their War would have been if they were really good defensively the Dodgers let’s talk about it I see a lot of fans hell I even see Yankee fans going this is not fair it’s not fair I will say this in my opinion you can say I’m wrong you can disagree with me whatever you want I think the Dodgers are good for baseball it’s good to see another team out there people go oh they’re buying championships their fan base is not complaining we wouldn’t be complaining so I am not going to [ __ ] about the Dodgers I would say this I do believe when they do the new baseball you know the union sits down and they make their new agreement I do think there’s going to be something in there about the furls I really do I think there’s going to be something in there about the furls the only thing that does bother me is the whole deferral game that does kind of bother me and maybe it bothers me because the Dodgers seem to be the only team that’s capable of utilizing it and having players agree to do it the Yankees haven’t done this hell I don’t know many other clubs um that have done this before but I will say this man I have nothing bad to say about the Dodgers I’m sorry maybe people want me to be upset about the Dodgers no I’m not going to sit here and be mad about the Dodgers look they won a World Series they went out and got one of the best starting pitchers available quickly quickly no matter what that contract looks like they went and did it their fan base is happy they gave right back to their fan base do I like the deferral Madness no that I don’t like that I don’t like yeah the Bobby Bonia stuff yeah there some there’s some players that are still owed in in baseball too but I’m not gonna I’m not going to be mad I’m not going to be mad about Torres didn’t really show up for the Yankees for about the last month and a half of the season that’s second base right first base they got no production I think they were one of the worst producing first base teams in baseball I think they were one of the worst producing left field teams in baseball when I talk about the offense could easily be better I talk about it because of that a lot of people feel that oh my God but they got to go out there and do so much more ladies and gentlemen I’ll throw this on the screen one more time yeah I’m a little proud of it but I’ll put it on the screen that the other guys that are out there um you know are going to give you the ability to stress that contract out that long so it’s the meth doesn’t really work out um you know that’s number one um and then the other thing just to kind of uh put it out there is um you know the Dodgers have kind of become kind of that destination spot for you know some of the Japanese players and I think if you get a guy like juano and uh you know maybe even go after a guy like vlat I mean I would think that Toronto um you know as much as they probably don’t want to I mean they probably ought to trade him I mean at this point if he doesn’t resign they’re going to lose him for nothing and his trade values going to only go less if they trade him at the deadline so um I’d love to see that combination you know and try to make it you know maybe a a destination for some of the Latin American players right you know make that make that the Bronx thing Francis brought that up he brought that up that exact point anyway just love to hear your thought on that but yep you know you tell me that if you have a lineup with um judge and stto and potentially like a of latty I mean every Dominican kid you know would be allaround player in the game and and and that’s it you know what I mean he thinks that he’s the best allaround player in the game and he adjust very well to where he is I don’t think the Yankees have really scratched the surface though yet when it comes to what you can do they really didn’t have things for a Dominican Market you know I talk about this a lot with Kev I talk about this with jir I talk about this with Francis the Yankees may have just waited until they lock him in long term to make maybe have an area of the food court or food in the stadium dedicated to Dominicans Dominican food Dominican Cuisine which is my favorite besides Italian by far I freaking love Dominican food and there’s many things they can do but we’re also talking about marketing of additional t-shirts marketing him and judge together I mean there there’s there’s Duo uh stuff that you can Market um um endorsement deals there’s so much you would be able to do with both of these guys that I just think
