you know if we want to bat how we want to bat uh and if we want to bowl what lines and what lengths and what kind of fields placement we need to have those are the things uh more than anything else uh you know like I said uh you know it’s still one all uh there’s plenty plenty of things uh left in this series still uh and there’s definitely uh a way for us to get back into the game uh and we need to find uh that Within ourselves how we need to do that uh you know there are a lot of individuals in that dressing room who have played a lot of cricket won a lot of games have come back from difficult situations in the past uh so you know we hope that everyone stands up to that challenge and takes the team through whenever it’s required um uh in terms of your prep batting prep leading into this series were you happy with that and you were the one batting in the nth session which is usually the toughest batting so uh how is it like batting was it different was it tough at number six batting under light in the N session it no look it it is of course uh slightly different from what you usually do uh you know with with the white uh side screen and pink ball it is something different we are used to playing uh uh you know in in the black uh side screen with white ball but again uh this is what it is you know when you come to Australia you have to be mentally ready to play uh uh the Test match and be ready to bat under different situations different conditions uh it can be difficult but that is not an excuse for any batter to say uh or uh point out I think the conditions are there for both teams uh they batted well they got the runs we didn’t bat well enough to get enough runs uh and that is where I think was the difference uh Rohit you know does the downturn in India’s batting form concern you in any way you know Red’s been our top scorer in three of the four Innings here we didn’t really have a great Series against New Zealand as well does it worry you at any level um I wouldn’t say worry I mean see uh if you if you take the last five or six test matches out uh of course in India we didn’t bad well enough we we accept that and we agree when we play in India we are trying to play on a very difficult conditions and that is what we wanted it’s not uh by anyone else’s Choice it was our choice and we knew that you know the big scoring or the highest or high-scoring games are not going to happen and that is what that is has that is something that has been the case over the last four or five years and we accept that but whenever we travel abroad uh you know the conditions are there to score runs we have scored runs as well uh like you saw in the first game we got a lot of runs batters uh got hundreds and stuff like that um but yeah look this game U I’m not going to look too much into this game and start uh worrying about uh you know little things uh but every batter who’s out there or who’s playing for this team wants to get runs uh and wants to get big runs and get the team to uh good place uh it’s just that sometimes it happens where you’re trying everything you can from your side it just doesn’t happen uh and I can see guys are putting a lot of effort uh in their plans in what they want to do there has been a lot of conversation around that within the group um uh which is which is what I will be looking into how are we planning how are we talking within ourselves and what are our uh plans mindset while playing a test match uh guys getting out that happens everywhere not just in India uh every team uh gets out the guys go through a bad form and all all of those things happens a lot uh not just like I said not in India but everywhere else as well so rather than looking too much into it just our Focus will be now how we can come out on top uh in Brisbane and try and see how we can do things better well it was a pretty spy confrontation yesterday between M and Travis head was interesting I don’t know I was standing at the slips I don’t know what was exchanged uh but two competitive teams are going at each other uh these things happen uh you know Travis was batting well obviously our plan was to get him out uh and uh on the other side Travis wanted to try and put our Bowlers Under Pressure uh and we got the Wicket he celebrated it there were obviously few words changed uh within the two of them uh I exactly don’t know what was said uh because my job is not just to look at that one incident I’m focused on the overall picture or the overall test match uh but again I don’t think we can look too much into that uh you know when India and Australia always play uh these things happen and these are now just part of the game and can you explain your reasons why you decided not to have any more open net sessions sorry the open net sessions um you had the public close to theet the other was the decision let’s about I can say no no let me say it it’s fine open next session just interest no the net sessions are very private and there this was the first time ever I saw so many people during the Nets uh and when you’re are training when you’re practicing there has been a lot of conversation that happens and those conversations are very private uh we don’t want anyone to hear those conversations it is as simple as that because there’s a lot of planning there’s a lot of talking that happens uh and the crowds are very close to that practice facility uh you know U there 5 days of test they can come and watch us there just wanted to ask another question about s like obviously you’ve worked with him as a captain quite a bit like what when when do you think he’s at his best in terms of the temperament like you think he gos better when he’s fired up or when he’s Karma yeah I mean he likes he likes to get into the battle as simple as that uh it gives him success and as a captain it’s my job uh you know to back that aggression obviously there is a f line between that uh we don’t want to cross uh uh anything that can bring dispute into the game uh but obviously having a word or two with the opposition is not the bad thing and he likes it uh and that’s what gets him going uh in the past we’ve seen so many cricketers who likes that battle and S is definitely one of them but again like I said uh uh there’s a thin line uh between uh getting aggressive and getting too aggressive and Crossing that line obviously as a captain it is also my responsibility to make sure that we don’t cross the line uh you know but yeah a word or two here and there I don’t think makes a huge difference and just quickly the obviously after the exchange between him and Travis last night the crowd got into it he was booed a lot maybe he’ll get booed potentially the rest of the series like do you think that has any effect or is it just I don’t think it matters too much uh we are you I mean all our guys are used to to playing in such big crowds uh things go well they support things don’t go well they don’t support that that happens everywhere uh but SJ knows what he needs to do uh for the team and he will do everything that is required uh leaving the external Factor aside uh his job is to take wickets and he will do everything he can uh to try and get wickets for his team uh all those things that happens outside you know guys are quite mature now to keep those things outside not to let them affect their game so s is one of them birth first day and then here the ball moves around a bit the runs haven’t come from India so what would the philosophy people have tried defending also like you everybody got out and some of is there a plan that you would like to see from you and from other teams from the other teammates in this kind of conditions do it differently something is there what should be the approach when the ball yeah look look there are lot of things that gets discussed uh when the conditions are challenged uh or challenging but I don’t want to disclose too much about because it’s a very private conversation that we actually do with the players and uh the players uh come up with their plans uh you know and when things are tough um you know there are many guys who have been in that place where uh there has been Challenge and we’ve come out on top as well uh you know per was the best example recently uh you know yes we got bowled out uh for 100 runs in the first Innings uh with that mindset there was possibly a chance for us to get bowled out again uh for uh you know a lower score but again this is what shows about the team that you know the team is quite uh Keen to make the difference and whatever challenges are there uh and the conditions are tough you know we want to battle it out there stay out there and grind it out uh that’s what jwal and K did uh you know to get that 200 partnership uh it was not just trying and swinging the bat uh you know K especially played more than 200 close to 200 balls to get his 70 and jall as well knowing his aggressive nature uh how he wants to bat he batted 300 balls together get those 150 runs so yeah uh you know these are the things um where like I said we’ve been in in in the place where uh it has been challenging we’ve been bowled out but then again we’ve left it behind and then started thinking what we can do in the next Innings and that shows uh what we did in per uh we just left the baggage of the first Innings there and then we started the second Innings really fresh and got those big runs
