so when sh Otani originally came to the major leagues he had absolutely no interest on the East Coast basically ruling out the Yankees from the start and then when Otani became a free agent the Yankees were also not on the table because he wanted to stay on the west coast same thing with Yamamoto but Yamamoto was a little bit different because the Yankees did put up a very competitive offer offering him 10 years 300 million but Yamamoto decided to go with the Dodgers and Otani on 12 years 325 million and if remember with Otani the Yankees never even got a face-to-face meeting the latest report from Brian Cashman is that the Yankees and Roki saki are having a face-to-face meeting in Los Angeles soon and what do I mean by soon well he was planning to return to Japan Before Christmas essentially meaning that the Yankees and suzaki will be meeting in Los Angeles within the next few days cuz after the holidays and the New Year the international amateur free agent signing period begins on January 15 and ends on January 23rd I’m quoting Brian cash here he doesn’t know if the Yankees are one of the top 10 teams that suzaki is going to go with but he is just glad that they are getting a face-to-face meeting and that does mean something considering Otani never actually gave the Yankees that opportunity Bron Cashman even said this is our one shot to separate ourselves and they might even go as far to get Hideki Matsui involved Godzilla I miss that guy and to finish cashman’s quote here we want want to put ourselves in the best position to let him know that we’re here to support him and help him become the best version of himself we’ve got one shot at it but we appreciate having the audience and we’ll take that opportunity now my personal thought is he’s going to end up with the Dodgers because well Yamamoto and Otani but again the fact that he’s given the Yankees this opportunity says a lot and maybe Brian Cashman can pull a rabbit shoe out of his ass here and bring over the 23-year-old stud from Japan this is Darren with grum baseball and I will talk to you guys later [Music]
