so in this New York Yankees news and rumors video I am going to be talking about the latest pertaining to the New York Yankees this 20242 MLB off season the latest news regarding the trade market the latest news regarding free agency and some signings basically All Things New York Yankees I’m going to be going over in this video let’s get right into it so the first Yankees news item for this video actually talks about Paul goldshmid being linked to the Yankees this off season so MLB scoops on X tweeted out sources the New York Yankees have eyes on another former nlm p and Paul goldshmid to play first base so this is kind of the aftermath after the Cody Bell and junor or Yankees trade that happened yesterday um all signs point towards the Yankees probably signing or trading for a first baseman this off season to kind of wrap things up a little bit um because it was I guess reported that Cody Bellinger is going to be the team’s new starting center fielder with Aaron judg still remaining in right field so there was kind of a lot of debate about where uh Cody Bellinger could be playing and I guess all signs point towards him playing center field with the first base Market still being pretty open um and I guess pretty wide open I should say uh this offseason via free agency so Paul gold Schmid definitely not the player that he once was actually had himself a pretty tough year this past year in St Louis he put up a 1.3 wor season 147 hits 22 home runs a 245 batting average uh 70 runs scored 65 rpis 11 stolen bases and on base of just 302 a 414 slug in Ops of 716 and an Ops plus of 98 so for Paul goldmit definitely not the year he was hoping to have this past year in a contract season uh he of course had I would say at this point a Hall of Fame career uh he won the MVP award I want to say back in what 2022 uh prior to that he was a four-time gold glove Award winner a seven time All-Star and a five-time Silver Slugger so Paul goid as well keep in mind he is 37 years old so he doesn’t have a ton of time left I would say in his MLB career um all things considered so could he definitely bounce back with the Bronx bombers in 2025 he very well could be uh but could there be a chance that he does regress even further it’s quite possible as well so in regards to more of a stop Gap option perhaps maybe more of a cheaper option as well on a shorter term contract Paul gold Schmid would probably fit that realm if it comes down to Dollars and cents I know that they were able to retain a little bit of money in the Cody Bellinger trade but they still owe this guy about 2122 million next year in 25 so if they’re unable to trade Marcus strowman and clear up that cap space uh they might have to go into more of a shorter term Direction maybe more of a cheaper alternative on the open market and I think Paul goldi compared to some other options out there uh like a Pete Alonzo for instance could make some sense in that regard in regards to a shorter term option so I’ll keep an eye on Paul goldi the Yankees definitely want to sign a first baseman or maybe even trade for a first baseman so I would I would expect that to be the next Domino to fall in regards to the New York Yankees but uh yeah it could have be former MVP Paul goldmit going sort of closer to home I think he’s from Delaware if I’m not mistaken um in uh you know back to the Bronx with the New York Yankees I guess the only time will tell so now shifting gears a little bit here to the international market where the top player that is posted and will be signing a contract you know Post January I think I think 15th if I’m not mistaken that being Roki Sasaki actually taking a meeting with the Yankees as early as next week so a Pinstripes Nation on X tweeted out the New York Yankees Brian hashman confirms exclusive meeting with Roki Sasaki next week uh next week # rep BX so Roki Sasaki is a Japanese Superstar sensation sort of like showy Otani when he was posted back in the day there’s going to be a lot of teams interested in a Services because the asking price for him will just not be very high because he can’t really sign a blank slate contract kind of like what happened with Yamoto last year he of course got a $300 million deal that’s not going to be the case because of Roki saki’s age I believe being under 25 if I’m not mistaken but in case you guysi is one of the best pitchers in Japanese baseball he’s only 23 years old as well so in regards to getting a player who has some pro ball under his belt as well as just you know entering the prime of his MLB career uh this the second he gets to the League this guy’s going to be garnering a lot of interest and he’s a very talented pitcher so last year in the Japanese League he had a 10 and5 record a 2.35 erra um he played in 18 games played 111 Innings pitch ped and had 129 strikeouts so ioki Zaki very talented player as I mentioned before just 23 years old the Yankees don’t necessarily need pitching per se especially with the addition of Max fre this off season uh but if they wanted to maybe going into a different direction which I alluded to when the Paul gold Schmid signing uh potentially happening if they were to get rid of someone like Marcus strowman clear up his cap space but also put another open hole in the rotation so saki is not going to cost you that much money and he could be a very talented player um on bit of a discounted um rate salary-wise so as of right now Garrick Cole Max freed Carlos rodon Luis Hill and Marcus strowman I think all signs point towards strowman probably being dealt this off season uh kind of similar to Cody Bellinger in Chicago this would probably be more of a cap dump trade if I had to predict with strowman being you know 33 years old if they’re able to get Sasaki to replace just imagine this rotation for a second Garett Cole Max freed Carlos Ron Luis Hill and Roki Sasaki that is the best rotation in all baseball as well as the additional Devon Williams um in regards to their closing position this Yankees team could have one of the best pitching staffs in all of baseball if they’re able to get Roki saki if not the best rotation in all of baseball um at the end of the day so we’ll keep an eye on how this meeting goes as I mentioned before don’t expect Sasaki to sign until about January when he actually is officially posted if I’m not mistaken but there’s going to be a lot of other teams interested in services so at this point it basically comes down to Sasaki the the dollar is going to be pretty similar um in regards to International money wherever he really goes maybe you know more or less a few million dollars I guess but uh he’s going to have his pick of the litter he’s going to have a choice of where he wants to go if he wants to play in the East it could make a lot of sense in the Bronx but if he wants to play in the west well New York’s quite a far away from that so I’ll keep an eye on saki having a meeting with Brian Cashman as early as next week so sticking with the theme of first base for this next news item uh Pinstripes Nation once again on X tweeted out the New York Yan is reportedly near deal with Anthony santon D to bolster the 2025 offense # rep BX so this actually gained a lot of traction yesterday following the Cody Bellinger trade uh to the New York Yankees about San D potentially being the next Domino to fall in regards to the team’s new first baseman now the only thing that kind of makes me scratch my head here is that Anthony santon D isn’t a first baseman he’s a corner outfielder now there has been some reports in speculation about if you were to go to the Yankees they would try them out a first base if it doesn’t work out you’d move judge back to Center you’d move santon dere back to left or right and then you would move um Cody Bellinger to first uh but I think in a perfect world you want to sign someone who’s more of a natural first baseman especially someone that can play some pretty solid defense so that’s why players like Paul gmid for instance have been talked about as potential options because the defense is just a little bit better uh in my personal opinion but in regards to a power bat which this Yankees team desperately needs in my personal opin opinion as well Anthony santon D is that exact guy right this guy had a tremendous year this past year for the division rival Baltimore Orioles he had a 2.9 War season 140 hits 44 home runs a 235 batting average a 91 runs scored 102 RBIs two stolen bases and on base of 308 a 506 slug an Ops of 814 and an Ops plus of 134 so for the 30-year-old Anthony sond dere if you were to go from one division rival in Bal more over to the Bronx bombers for 2025 and beyond that would be a nice little uh case of the division rival Orioles getting worse and the Yankees getting better so sandir having 44 dingers last year in Baltimore is pretty impressive he of course knows the American League East Division quite well having played there his entire career he had his best year this past year so I guess there could be a bit of a trap um happening here if he were to go with a long-term deal but the Yankees desperately need some more pop in my opinion I think the addition of someone like Cody Bellinger definitely helps but if you’re able to have santon dere hit in the four or the five Hole uh sort of behind Aaron judge for example this could be a really really really talented lineup like imagine this next year Cody Bellinger leading off Jazz Chism 2 Aaron judge three santon D four and then Gian Carlos Stanton number five that’s a pretty damn good team if you ask me especially two leading off baseball games that’s a pretty scary lineup so I think sand off defensively speaking is sort of exactly what this team needs um but in regards to a fit defensively speaking there’s some other guys available but santon if he can hit 40 plus from runs next year uh he’s a switch hitter as well which can play well um in Yankee Stadium next year for half the season this could be a pretty good fit so I’m a little bit torn about whether or not this would be the right decision I think Yankees fans are as well because you want to add a player with the stats offensively speaking but if you’re sacrificing defense that was a big flaw for them in the playoffs last year um especially at first base so I think s could definitely happen I guess only time will tell but it is being reported that the two sides could be nearing a deal with one with one another quite soon so one of the more underrated moves that kind of got pushed to the Wayside yesterday because of the Cody Bellinger trade makes a lot of sense I guess but uh the Yankees actually signed a right-handed pitcher who also happened to play for the Cubs last year in 2024 so MLB deadline news on X tweeted out New York Yankees have agreed the terms with rent right-handed pitcher Colton Brewer on minor leag contract per Robert Murray so maybe underrated was the wrong word because this is probably in appropriately rated signing I mean it wasn’t anything crazy uh but Colton Brewer you know he could be something next year is he going to be something probably not so last year for Colton Brewer it wasn’t the prettiest for him um a negative 0.6 War zero wins zero losses an RA of 5.66 in 16 games played he did have one recorded save uh with 20 Innings pitched and 20 22 strikeouts but also had a whip of 1. 1597 so uh Colton Brewer hasn’t really solidified himself as a full-time MLB player I guess back in 2019 with the Boston Red Sox he played in 58 games and had a 4.12 ra which is actually pretty respectable in my personal opinion if you ask me so he definitely has a pass and Yankees fans would know him pretty well obviously from his time with the team in 2023 so a reunion sort of speaks uh the Yankees like this guy if they were bble to bring him back so I guess there’s a potential I guess path for him to be like a bullpen guy next year if he can crack the team and play pretty well uh the Yankees I guess in this case are just throwing more darts at the dart board in regards to adding some more arms to the team you can never have too much good relief pitching uh in baseball especially with injuries all that kind of stuff that happen quite often adding another arm like Colton Brewer who the team’s pretty familiar with from their time in 2023 together as well as his time prior to that in the American League E Division I with the Red Sox from 19 to 2021 there’s nothing really negative about this signing it’s definitely nothing flashy by any stretch but uh yeah he could very well be a solid arm for them next year if he can crack the team uh keep his ER somewhere in the fours would be probably ideal and if that happens then yeah pretty good signing for a low dollar amount so some actual news that took place yesterday the Yankees added another arm to their team he’s a big boy as well 64 about 220 222 um that’s what he’s being listed at so he can strike guys out throw for for some gas um and the Yankees know them pretty well so Colton Brewer agrees to terms on a
