every team every topic everywhere this is [Applause] beli welcome to the jello jiggling podcast I’m your host Ryan Ward and where do I start with this team uh Lakers are coming off probably the worst loss of the season so far and maybe even last season uh put on top of that because they they were hope against the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minnesota last night um couldn’t get anything going offensively and ironically it was the perfect opportunity to get an easy win or like a win over a good team because ant Anthony Edwards couldn’t do anything either he scored eight points eight points you’d figure in a game the Lakers faed the t- wolves and their best players scores eight points that they blow them out right nope complete opposite complete opposite from what I remember if I remember correctly looking at again yes 29o loss this team lost by 29 Points I mean and Minnesota’s good but they’re not great like they were last year they’re 10 and 10 after this win so they were below 500 coming in this game um God awful I mean it was it was a rough watch I would say that’s the toughest game I’ve had to watching quite some time and I was doing the playback stream with Trevor Lane last night and we were strugg we were really struggling to to to find any positives I I’d say the only takeaway from it is it looks like DLo could be turning things around uh he’s the only one that really showed up he he scored a team High 20 points uh four for five from Deep uh he seemed pretty locked in he had some good passes uh five assists he just seemed to be the DLo that we know right or we like I guess is a better way to say it he he was playing up to his potential and what he should do on a nightly basis right but then you look at the other guys only three other guys scored in double figures and one got over 10 points uh Lebron kept his 10o streak alive which him sir is very excited about uh he scored 10 points he got eight boards four assists six turnovers which has become a pretty big problem and his streak of not hitting a three-pointer has continued uh he went four for 16 last night uh from the field and 0 for four from Deep he was reluctant to shoot the three he was reluctant but he couldn’t hit anything I mean he had layups rolling off the side of the rim uh he just he just seemed like a different guy last night um and then you know that’s starting the whole narrative well it’s it’s been started for the last few games that LeBron might finally be showing his age and I kind of agree I mean he’s always he’s shown a little bit of his age over the last couple years but I do feel like it’s trending downward right and obviously that ain’t great um and it doesn’t help when ad doesn’t show up either ad had an equally bad game uh you got a double double 12 points 11 rebounds but he went four for 14 from the floor uh 0 for two from deep hit all four of his free throws but only went to the line four times uh for a guy should be living at the line um one block he got outplayed by Rudy goar and that doesn’t normally happen goar had 17 points and 12 rebounds uh and only missed one shot all game went seven for eight whereas the it’s just game like that is where you just want to throw the the remote at the TV you know what I mean it just it was so frustrating to watch because nothing was flowing whatsoever I mean and then you got guys like Max Christie that’s not doing well I mean what did he have six Off the Bench no five Off the Bench 0 for or one for seven from Deep just a complete zero again G Vincent Five Points two for five minus 20 plus minus it just they they can’t if their top guys aren’t clicking if they’re not if they’re not playing up to the way that we normally see them play the whole team falls apart I mean Don connect was a complete zero yesterday too 0 for five from Deep three for eight uh six points and three boards just no no pop whatsoever he he couldn’t really get going I mean it was a mess the whole game was a fraking mess it was it was I mean typical backto back second game of a backto back on the road um which don’t normally go great but this one was the worst i’ me season low 80 points um and that’s by a long margin I or wide margin sorry long margin um their the their previous low was against OKC which is one of the best defensive teams in the league who held them to 93 but they were in Striking Distance like they could have won that game um but not this one I mean it’s for the amount of times that Minnesota was like letting them back in the game they just never capitalized on it see total lack of energy for some reason something’s going on with ad because I am so tired of seeing these hot High screen en rolls with him where he sets the screen at like the top of the key or even at the three-point line sometimes and uh and then he just kind of stays around the elbow and that’s it doesn’t go down to the paint doesn’t try to post up uh he just passes out of it and it just it takes him out of the whole play right and he and he just becomes non-existent offensively I mean when he is locked in and he is engaged and aggressive I don’t think there’s any other big in the league that can stop him I really don’t I think he’s that good but it’s just there’s so many of these performances where it’s like where’d you go are you okay are are you not feeling well uh is there something going on because he just didn’t seem engaged at all he just you know kind of trying he got pissed off because he was getting some foul calls that he didn’t agree with and I you know what the refereeing is been crap I think for the last two years in my opinion I it’s just not great not consistent um and you know LeBron doesn’t get the calls he should Ting not as much but still there are times it’s just a lot lack of consistency and I mean that’s kind of been the thing with um with with the you know watching Laker games lately um but this is just it’s unacceptable basketball I mean they’re they’re 12- n now they one one point they had a really promising record and they were near the top of the the west and now it’s just not the case anymore uh and where are they at now uh I think middle of the pack or lower yeah lower uh they’re in the eighth seed now behind Phoenix Phoenix has one less uh win but they have one less loss and then they beat the crap out of them the last time they fac so I think the the the telling part of this is the fact that uh whenever the Lakers play an even decent team um they get the crap kicked out of them uh I mean because you know it’s right out the gate they win they beat Minnesota Phoenix and Sacramento right and they did it in Fairly convincing fashion where it wasn’t like a question of oh they got lucky or was a fluke or anything like that no they they want them outright and then they get then they lose to Phoenix in Phoenix close game get absolutely annihilated by Cleveland in Cleveland and then some weird losses to Detroit Memphis they beat Philly because Philly’s crap uh they had that one stretch there he won six games in a row but if you look at if you look back on it these are awful teams uh Philly Toronto Memphis I mean Memphis is not awful now but at that point in time they were and they only W by five they could have easily gone the other way San Antonio New Orleans Utah I mean these are all games you’re supposed to win and then they faced real teams uh Orlando uh Denver Phoenix San Antonio again but they got that win like they should OKC loss Utah win but they only won by one uh and then Minnesota last night it’s just you can see the trend here it’s it’s not great at all man it’s it’s they can’t they can’t compete with the best of the best they just can’t there’s the the it’s so obvious watching it that they’re not um equipped to to compete with these guys and moves got to be made have to be made uh Lebron and just on top of that you know LeBron struggling like he has uh 0 for 19 from Deep 0 for 19 he hasn’t hit a three-pointer in 19 attempts but he keeps shooting them and and that he should because the only way you get out of these slumps is shooting through it it’s just painful to watch because it’s even carried over to like regular field goals now and it’s I don’t know it’s just weird to see see him struggle this way but it’s and he’ll bounce back he’ll get I don’t think he’s never going to get back to Crazy LeBron form but I mean he’ll be formidable he’ll be a threat on the floor I just it’s just not a good sign dude and then now he’s you know they’ve got the next five or four games four out of the next five games are on the road now you know what I can I’m expand that okay so you got Miami next at ATA those are both on the road back home for Portland on the road to Sacramento for two games in a row in Sacramento which is very strange because it’s they’ll get in on Thursday December TW or 19th in Sacramento and then they’ll have to stay in Sacramento for basically half the week and then play Sacramento again on sat that Saturday and then they’re back home for Detroit then back in the Bay area again for Christmas day against Golden State which could be a massacre if they keep keeps going the way it’s going um it’s just trending in a bad Direction and then today uh the Lakers sent as a press release saying or an update saying that Vando has had fluent on his his knee or E effusion I think they called it uh during his rehab which has extended his time out so they they now expect him to return early January some guy went at me on Twitter he’s like because I said it’s brutal you know just another bad update where we just he’s not coming back you know like the next game or the next week or whatever it’s like you realize it’s only 27 days like yeah but but there’s no guarantee he’s coming back he said early January that means there’s no pinpoint dates yet still so they don’t know so we could get to early January we get the same update again where he’s had more flu on the knee or some other craziness has happened and he’s out for more weeks so it’s just not a it’s just not nothing is trending in the right direction and and I think uh chams wrote a piece about it about the news right and there was a pretty concerning part of it the very last line and I give props with Matthew valento who works with me at Lakers Nation for pointing this out that the very last nine line of uh chams pieces talking about Vando obviously um since V’s absence has prevented new head coach JJ reic from figuring out his ideal rotation um his absence has also prevented the Lakers front office from fully evaluating the needs of its roster as the trade season approaches that’s not good so that means they’re reluctant to pull the trigger on any deal um because they don’t know what they have with Vando which I think is is stupid to be honest with you because you’re waiting on a guy who has been incredibly undependable because of his um his his health status it’s always up in the air I mean to put it in perspective the last game that V played February 2nd and a win over the Boston Celtics in Boston and he played well I mean I I tweeted it out what how much did he have I mean he didn’t have crazy numbers I think he was like 10 points seven boards three steals something like that typical vano line right but they won they beat the best team in the league on their home court you know and they looked good and I don’t think they had LeBron or ad that game um it was basically you know held together by Scotch tape you know uh I think it was him and Reeves that were playing well but um so it’s been you know say he comes back in January it’ be almost a year almost a year that he hasn’t played a single game and there’s no way he’s going to be in shape there’s no way we said this over and over again there’s no way to replicate those kind of reps you get on the floor against opposing teams in the NBA it’s just not I mean even when he came back last time it took him a while to get back to the Vendo that we all know and love that can be a GameChanger defensively and changes the way the whole way the team plays so there’s no guarantee he’s going to get back in early January and look like him himself he might not be the same guy I he had procedures on both feet he I don’t even know how the hell you recover from that both feet of the time what is he in a wheelchair not putting any weight on his feet I don’t I don’t know I don’t I don’t know what how that goes but not great not great I mean okay cool early January but there’s no guarantee that’s going to happen and if it does happen he’s not GNA be the same guy I’m sure they’re going to slow roll him right it’s he’ll come off the bench You’ll Play 15 minutes a game probably um and then gauge where he’s at and I wouldn’t anticipate him being uh a game changer like he normally is it just it’s not going to happen right away and that’s not great either because you got the trade deadline which I think is like February 6 let me look real quick TR deadline 25 it is February 6 yeah so February 6 say he gets back by January 6 you got four weeks to evaluate this roster with a guy that’s not going to be anywhere near 100% I don’t so I don’t even get the logic of saying they don’t know what they’re where they’re at it’s like it’s just you do know where you’re at I mean this guy is injury-prone he probably will be for the rest of his career he’s what is he 27 please hold checking uh he is 25 25 so he’s still relatively young but this is he’s he’s dealing with all these and he’s only 25 you really want to invest long term in a guy like that I don’t think so um so make a damn move dude and then that’s where we come to the the trade rumors that have been circulating the latest was uh the I mean it’s the Wizards I mean it’s it seems almost inevitable that if they make a move it’s going to be with the Wizards and uh valent chunis is the guy the main target and I think it was what a couple of second round picks and Gabe Vincent is the the trade package that’s been rumored um I mean Washington’s tanking so it’s not like they have any interest in winning and making that move is not going to make them better but it gives them draft draft capital and that’s probably all they want right now um and valent chunis is would be a great fit next to ad I i’ I said that all summer I thought he was the guy he was the guy that should go after like number one priority in free agency and then Washington came out of nowhere and swooped him up I was I was shocked I was like seriously you want to go to Washington uh especially at your age I think he’s like 31 it’s like you ain’t got much time left in the league he a big guy like that um they don’t last that long the the Home Run move for me in my opinion is getting Walker Walker Kessler and Colin Saxton from Utah you’re going to have to give up way more than two first rounders and gay Vincent to make that happen but at least with those guys you got two guys that are are are going to be around for a long time and they produce they’re good players Walker Kessler is a walking trip uh double double he averages 10 points in 10 boards he shoots 70% from the floor it’s ridiculous and he doesn’t play outside of his game he doesn’t try to do too much he just does what he can do and he does it well and him next to ad that’s a monster front court right there that’s that’s that’s intimidating um and then you got seon who can who can play a point right uh you know there’s too many questions about Gabe the backup point guard position is somewhat non-existent in La JHS is a practical zero at the point at this point um and he got what he played 10 minutes the other night and he’s already hurt again so it’s like like you can’t count on that kid so I wouldn’t be surprised if he is involved in a deal and Utah is in the same exact position as Washington they’re basically tanking uh to go after Cooper flag so they have no incentive to win any games I mean you saw that the other night with that crazy uh last second uh timeout by Will Hardy The Jazz coach will hardy with Colin seon driving to the hole for the game-winning bucket with time expiring I think they there was like a a second a second and a half left on the clock or something which I I don’t know what you can really set up in that amount of time it just was a bonehead call and some people are saying that uh it was just a tanking move I don’t think so but still it’s you know that’s that’s Utah right now they’re they don’t care they get another one lost they get they lose the rest of the season they don’t care um helps them doesn’t hurt them so that’s that’s my home R move but I just I just there’s too many the Lakers will be forced to give up too much because Danny a is difficult to deal with he doesn’t like the Lakers he never has going back to his Celtics playing days um he’s going to try and fleece them because he knows they’re desperate that’s the one problem with every team right now is they all know the Lakers are desperate and they need to make a move and they’ve got expiring deals to do it right one in particular was D’Angelo Russell um who if they don’t trade would be a mistake at this point because they’re not gonna bring him back and if they do it’ll be a desperation move on both sides I’m sure D’s done with LA at this point U tired of all the crap that he gets understandably so but at the same time it’s not like he’s played well enough to really justify another deal um unless there’s not another guy out there that’s an upgrade uh it’s a it’s a it’s a bad situation for La it just is um there’s no other way to to shape it it’s it’s it’s they they’re forced in a difficult situation limited options and limited assets uh that are not all that desirable to teams that want to make moves the thing is a lot of teams are going to want to make moves um I think it’ll be a pretty active trade deadline with a lot of these big guys going different places uh Balan chunis Kesler even John Collins in Utah seon I think even Jordan Clark Clarkson has been mentioned as a guy that could be moved um and then you got KY kosma on Washington who’s also been linked to you know being traded I he’s been in trade rumors I think ever since he left La um or got traded for Westbrook I think he’s just always been in that situation I’ve got the article on Lakers Nation right here so is Mike Michael Scotto of Hoops hype said uh in Washington Ford Kyle kman is viewed as one of the team leaders who keeps the Wizards competitive while helping them build the development of other young players around him as a Ford who could score and defend teams run the league believe the 29 he’s already 29 damn damn time flies man um worth monitoring he was an older rookie anyway uh has trade candidate due to skill set declining salary over the next two years Okay blah blah blah get to where this is like uh wow that’s interesting Dallas Mavericks nearly traded for him last season that would have been a good move for them um put they got PJ Washington Gafford instead actually that was those better moves uh the Pacers were interested in kozma before swinging the Block Buster trade for SE yakum also a better move the Kings have also been linked to kozma for the past two seasons now that’s something that could happen I think they’re kind of trending down right now other teams who’ve kept tabs on kman the Bucks Warriors Lakers heat C and Cavaliers some interesting ones in there wouldn’t be surprised if the Warriors go after him um or you know or anybody in that list there kind of makes sense but I mean it’s this is not the first time that K’s been linked to coming back to LA I just I’ll believe it when I see it kind of thing you know I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to come back I think he I think he enjoyed every minute over here um and he handled it pretty well he didn’t care about the noise um I think he cared more about the role cuz his role was kind of got all screwed up um after ad came he didn’t know where his place was you know like he was like you know proven score early on so but then again it’s a different coach it was that was vogle this is JJ and he’ll probably use him differently I assume but um that’s where that is uh so again not great man uh more not great updates you know Lakers I mean even JJ said that that loss against Denver he thought was an aberration right because of them getting just kind of spanked uh and then he said after last night’s loss that maybe that wasn’t an aberation and he’s right because it’s not because they’ve done this against OKC now against Minnesota Phoenix and Denver all teams that are going to be playoff bound almost certainly um and if that doesn’t turn around doesn’t matter what happens the rest of the way I mean if you don’t have a team that can compete in the playoffs you’re basically playing for nothing you know and this is uh a Time short window I mean I’m we got like what the rest of this season and the next of LeBron and it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that ad just says hey you know LeBron’s leaving I’m out too you know and then the re the real re rebuild starts that wouldn’t shock me at all um F’s just like hey send me to Chicago you know send me home for those of you don’t know he’s Hometown he’s a is Chicago so I think he’s even got that tatted on him somewhere um so he’s he’s all about Chicago wouldn’t shock me even though Chicago is probably in the exact same situation they’re they’re going to have a fire sale at the trade deadline I think they’ve been trying to trade Zack LaVine forever and he’s been linking the Lakers quite a few times but I don’t think that’s the answer at all um vuich I I don’t know if I’m saying his name right ni vuich um I think he’d be a good fit in La stretches floor more than Kessler wood uh more than valent chunis by far um but he’s also up there I think he’s in his 30s as well so there’s short-term fixes maybe that’s that’s the Right Moves I don’t know because they’ll be cheaper um deals that they could actually make and then maybe actually get a guard as well you know get or a score I don’t know if the Lakers can pull off a valent chunis and kosma deal I don’t know I seriously doubt that money money money Works excuse me if it did that’d be kind of that’d be awesome but I depends on who you got to give up though you got to give up somebody in value outside of DLo prob I would assume maybe a first round pick uh and other pieces but this is going to be uh the Lakers should turn this around somewhat coming up I mean I mean you’re coming off the worst performance of the year so who knows hopefully it doesn’t keep going that way but you’ve got opportunities here Miami is not great this year Atlanta’s I think a little bit better than they have been where they at 11 and 11 and that’s amazing in the East um where’s Miami at and they’re Miami’s just below them at nine and 10 so it’s these are these are teams that they they should be they should and Portland they should kick the crap out of that should be a tuneup game the two games against sack toown I’m sure will be difficult but winnable at least one of them Detroit had their number last time so that could be a difficult game but at least it’s in La um and then Golden State will be the true test if they’ve actually really turned it around uh on Christmas day so it’ll be leading up to that so it’s I sound a little down and I am because last night just pissed me off so much because it just it just seemed like they weren’t even trying to fix things you know and I I don’t think I’ve ever seen a game where ad and LeBron combined for 22 points I just don’t think I’ve ever seen that and only eight field goals made between them that’s insane that’s crazy hopefully that is not a sign of things to come please don’t be a sign of things to come because I don’t think I’m gonna be able to Bear it I don’t think any of you guys will either but um till then uh got a game tomorrow Wednesday December 4th against Miami in Miami it’s an early one it’ll be 4:30 Pacific so it’s on NBA TV for anybody that’s interested in tuning in even know that’s kind of early for everybody in La uh but until then um I’ll see you later if you like the show please take a moment to rate review And subscribe it really does help the show to grow thank you for listening [Applause]
