name’s Guy Franklin I’m here with Joe Jackson from feed the post Joe let’s start with Penn State what are you looking for from these nitty lions in this one I mean it’s just they they’ve been a really really good team this year obviously their biggest win on the season um an 11.1 against Purdue that was essentially a 30.1 except for garbage time brings it back down Penn State’s been good and it’s just another opportunity for them to get um I mean this would be their second best win on the season behind that Purdue win uh they have dominated bad teams and um some good mid majors in there as well but now it’s starting to get to okay got to do it against the good teams Ruckers is a team that I don’t know if they’re classified as good at this point but still probably a step up from some of the competition they’ve played besides Purdue Ace Baldwin’s legit like this whole team is legit but Ace Baldwin is the leader um and just their ability to wreak havoc uh defensively with how many turnovers they force I mean against Purdue one in every three possessions Purdue turn the ball over like that that’s an insane insane number to see so it’s going to start with do like can Ace Baldwin do enough to slow down a guy like Dylan Harper Harper’s going to have the gigantic size advantage um right 5 in I think he’s like 5 in taller or something like that and however many pounds heavier um going to be a tough task for Baldwin but I mean he’s shown he can pretty much just stop anybody he wants yeah and obviously you said uh reek Havoc there we obviously know that Mike rhs comes from the uh the beautiful land of uh VCU by the way I’m checking Heights right now for you um uh it is uh it is five inches you were right right on the dot 66 to 61 um I don’t like using that word outside of VCU the word the Havoc word but uh you know obviously we know that Penn State is suffocating on defense Ace Baldwin is an all big 10 defensive player kind of guy he was that back with VCU in the A10 as well and look all Mike roads has ever done is win and I he goes to a Penn State job that’s one of the harder ones in the in the big 10 just cuz for whatever reason you can’t get the students out to the to the arena I don’t know why they all show up for the football games get them get them to the basketball games you’re walking to the rack which is a very difficult place to play I still like th this Penn State team I like this team a lot I’ve I’ve been saying this a good portion of the year I think that this team will contend for a tournament birth I think now you probably have to have them in at this point even though the Big 10 has looked surprisingly weak the the game that I think actually speaks uh a lot other than Purdue obviously and I’ll let you talk a little bit more about Purdue because that’s more of your area but the 20o win or 19 against forom is really impressive to me forom has had a good year they have beat a good uh a few are good teams is a stretch but they have beaten some teams who I don’t think you would necessarily expect them to beat obviously they beat Sean Hall uh which is you know not saying that much this year but they they put up a 20-point win against New Hampshire they put up a similar margin against Bingington and I don’t think that that’s as cupcakeyummy where you stand on Dylan Harper versus Braden Smith but Baldwin looked pretty good against Braden Smith yeah I mean it’s it’s so weird because right like the big 10 really does have a lot of good lead guards like Bron Smith Harper Baldwin uh yaka chonis Bruce thoron like one of those guys is probably the fifth best point guard in the Big 10 and that’s a really really good group of guys if if that somebody’s going to be the fifth Harper does it differently I think in terms of like I I think Harper could just get to the size and get downhill whereas Purdue there was so much pressure on Braden to have to handle everything and they just got all out of sorts I mean Brayden himself it wasn’t like I mean he did not play well by any means but he only had he he only had three turnovers which given how much he’s sounded it’s like not the worst number in the entire world right is it good no is it terrible though no um Harper I don’t think he’s done a terrible job handling the ball this year like yeah he’s done a really good job handling the ball he facilitates well can he just La I mean he’s gonna play 38 minutes probably this game like what does the last six minutes look like when he’s being pressured for the first 36 or 35 minutes the entire time does he have the legs still uh to be able to kind of do that at the end because he’s I mean in terms of talent he’s the most talented player in the Big 10 I would I would say pretty comfortably and one of the most in the entire country there’s a reason he’s going to be a top five pick um it it feels like at this point in the season it’s for Ruckers it’s can Dylan Harper take them to where they need to go and hopefully you can get some sort of contribution elsewhere hopefully Ace Bailey has one of his efficient games and that’s just kind of the formula of how they have to win yeah I mean when you look at this record team they’re they’ve lost three of their last five is that three of their last yeah no they’ve lost four of their last five sorry I I was trying to do the three of the last four four of the last five thing and I’m not good at counting uh you have a rocky players era well they’re not calling it tournament Players era Festival there we go yeah um for the the nil money other than winning against Notre Dame which looked better at the time than it does now obviously uh I can’t really blame a a loss against Alabama by five Texas A&M by four it’s the at Ohio State by 14 one that I want to focus on they were close with in that game through the first half first 30 minutes 25 what however many you want to say the the it just got away from them and I think going back to the Rack or whatever it’s called now it’s called something else is it called something else Jersey Jersey Mike’s Arena Jersey Mike’s AR it’ll always be known as the rack though it’s the rack yeah uh going back to the rack I think that it’ll be a nice chance to get a win under your belt and then after that you’ve got all of sort of the local teams uh playing you you’ve got seatan Hall Princeton Columbia if you can get P past past this Penn State team you have a good chance to sort of get your momentum right you know work on some things and find yourself in in a better situation as you go to Indiana you play Wisconsin and then then it gets really hard then you have your Purdue UCLA at Nebraska which I mean Nebraska’s the weak link there but theyve looked good this year it looks better as they go even with the Michigan State loss but it’s really that Purdue UCLA stretch that you need to be dialed in and ready to go and this is your first chance to really do that yeah no I’m with you this is a this is a I don’t want to call it a must-win game because it isn’t right they could still figure things out but realistically if they want to be competing for a tournament spot this win would go a long ways one just getting a quality win right their best win is the overtime neutral win against Notre Dame on the year but then on top of that is like they’ve struggled but they they are young and so that learning curve could be steep where it’s just they start putting things together you have you know two of the most talented players in the conference just pure talents like things can get right quick it’s just they have to and and it has to start really really soon um the schedule right home against Penn State you mentioned the three kind of local game scene Hall Princeton Columbia neither none of those are cakewalks by any means but they will be favored in all of them then that that four game stretch to start the Big 10 is interesting because it’s at IU and then it’s home against Wisconsin Purdue UCLA so like you do get some home games I don’t like Wisconsin at all this year though I yeah yeah I don’t think that’s that difficult of a win I’m yeah I’m I’m they’re much better than what I expected coming into the year I I think they played at their ceiling though for a lot of this um but yeah somebody it for me right now for Ruckers it comes down to somebody else has to step up outside of Harper outside of Bailey Williams and durak have started to do it in small spurts but there’s just no shooting surrounding Harper at all right now uh besides Bailey and the spacing is just bad you mentioned the Ohio State game Ohio State just forced Harper to get the ball out of his hands basically every play and they dared people to shoot for the three Dak knock down two credit to him he’s up to five of 18 from three on the year though Williams is three of 14 agay plays he’s hasn’t he doesn’t shoot threes if somerville’s in at Center he’s one for three from three like their Hayes and Martini who are brought in to be Shooters um aren’t good enough defensively but also this Rucker team in general isn’t good defensively so it’s an interesting tradeoff I’ll be curious to see where they go or where p goes in this game yeah obviously Penn State is sort of at a operating at a way where they’re going to have multiple guys to send at Harper as well and not really worry about foul trouble as much obviously after Baldwin you have you have guys like dun and Kern as well who can sort of flex over to that uh point guard spot in the the what three minutes of the game that Baldwin isn’t going to be playing yeah I I think that it’s it is going to be interesting because it’s at the rack I agree though that Ruckers needs a little bit more time to jel going into sort of what we
