golender Sam Arison returns to practice for the Philadelphia Flyers hel gronze sent down to the AHL and potentially some very good news for three Philadelphia Flyers players when it comes to the upcoming four nations best on best International Tournament I’m Charlie okon with phly sports and these are your Flyers post-practice notes let’s start with the return of Sam Arison Arison has been out of the Flyers lineup since his appearance on November 11th against the San Jose Sharks he was placed on IR with a lower body injury believed to be a recurrence of the groin issue that kept him out for a few weeks prior to that recurrence he did return to practice today with the full team took full reps and even spoke with the media after practice now it’s not like Arison hasn’t been doing work he told us today that for a few days he’s been skating I think it’s been about a week since he’s been probably putting in some uh some office work but it’s always been by himself for only with a few guys maybe the scratches for a given game during a given morning today however was the first time since the recurrence that he was out there with his entire team looks like he’s poised to be pulled off injured reserve and very well could end up being the goalie for Thursday night’s game against the Florida Panthers at the Wells Fargo Center now the Flyers have been doing quite well in Aron’s absence it’s because Ivan fedotov and Alexi kosov have stepped up in a big way to make up for the fact that their team’s number one net minder hasn’t been able to play for a few weeks but despite the strong play of the Bell Russian and the Russian John toell did confirm today that Sam erson Remains the team’s number one it’s going to be interesting to see how they maneuver this three-goal mix it looks like it’s at least the plan for now at some point John torella said though they’re going to have to figure out the three-g goalie thing he doesn’t seem to like it so does appear that at some point they’re going to go with two but for now as Arison gets himself reintegrated back into game shape and potentially starts as soon as Thursday they’re going to keep the three goalies and they’re going to see what happens so keep an eye on that even if they’re going to stick with three goalies however they did need to clear a spot if they at some point over the next few days want to remove Sam Arison from injured reserve and it appears the shoe has dropped for hel gron who was sent down of the AHL today returned to Lehigh Valley now gron has performed admirably since his call up he’s played in six games for the Flyers and quite frankly most of them looked quite strong but he was just the easiest player to send down given Aron’s apparent imminent return that said John tordella had a lot of very nice things to say about hge gron today after practice said he played really well he liked his resiliency his ability to bounce back after bad shifts or bad games he’ll be back expect hel gr to get more games in the NHL this year right now however they needed to clear a spot for Arison he was the logical person to go down but injuries always strike especially on the back end even today you you saw Eric Johnson and cam YK have maintenance days now both are expected to be fine they’ll practice again on Wednesday leading into their Thursday game but injuries are going to happen on the back end it looks like helge gronze at least for now we’ll see if anything changes in the AHL over the next few weeks but at least for now appears to have a leg up as that preferred first call up on the back end if guys get hurt he earned it he played very well three players who were at practice today and just may have received very good news regarding the upcoming four nations tournament which will happen in February it’s the United States Canada Sweden and Finland battling for hockey Supremacy those three players that just may have received good news Travis sanheim Travis kkny and Rasmus ristan now ristan we knew was essentially a lock to make team Finland all these rosters are going to be announced on Wednesday but the teams are making their decisions Pierre LeBron of the athletic reported last night that Canada in particular had already finalized their roster last night Sunday night so the decisions have been made we just don’t know for sure who’s making the teams Travis conky and Travis sanheim were bubble players for Team Canada was unclear if either one both not sure if they were going to be making Team Canada despite the fact that both are off to very very good starts but we may have gotten a hint as to their status today at practice and it seems like it might be good news so what happened well at the very start of practice John tarella had the entire team together at Center Ice he was talking about something obviously in the media area we couldn’t hear what he was saying he was talking about something to the whole team and then suddenly the team erupted in cheers they start patting Travis sanheim on the shoulders then they start patting Travis kky on the shoulders then about a minute later they start patting rasis for Salan on the shoulders as well look the circumstantial evidence would imply given the fact that we know decisions were made for Team Canada last night per LeBrun we know the announcements coming on Wednesday and we know these three guys are guys that are very much in the mix to make their respective national teams circumstantial evidence would seem to imply that they may have just gotten some early good news from their coach and gotten congratulated by their teammates that said it’s worth noting that everybody stayed mum after practice there were a lot of smirks some laughs when the players were asked but no one revealed anything Travis concy basically said yeah we celebrate things all the time after practice definitely had nothing to do with for Nations we’ll find out on Wednesday John tarella when asked specifically asked the the uh the media have you heard anything and we said no and he said I haven’t heard anything either look most likely all three are going to make the team and it would be a great honor rist Lon as I said he pretty much knew he was making it team Finland isn’t the deepest on the back end and rist Lon is having a really strong year so far for the Flyers sanheim conne it was going to be tough not because they’re not having good years but because Canada is just stacked they have so much talent especially when we’re talking about forwards and defenseman but both kkny and sanheim are killing it for the Flyers here connec is over a point per game sanheim established himself as the clear-cut number one taking huge minutes for the Flyers and producing offensively as well both are very deserving of making the team we’ll find out on Wednesday for sure but it does look like based on what we saw today at practice that the Flyers just may have three Representatives at least for the four nations tournament I’m Charlie okon with phly sports thanks for watching thanks for listening for
