a very long time it feels like that they haven’t been playing on a Saturday night Hockey Night in Canada and all this but some crazy reports are starting to drop and this one has least fans um I think fired up is the word some fans are on the fence some fans are really crazy about this I’m curious to see what you think actually about this specific report and it is a familiar face it is uh nazm cadri and the Leafs have reportedly started kicking tires with Calgary for the services of ex Leaf nazm Kadri if you’re going to play against teams in the playoffs Florida Carolina the Devils Rangers of course New Jersey Devils you need a player like kadry I know some people in Toronto think mclenon is clueless but I’m telling you if I’m Brad sh living and I hear they’re kicking tires I heard today they were kicking tires there sh living has its hands full there’s still some animosity because of how cadri left and the Hubert o deal still stings Calgary’s ownership if Toronto gets cadri and they face Florida or other teams it’s going to be a different Series so there’s a lot to dissect here so from Doug mlan they are absolutely going for uh nasm Cas right now they’re in talks to uh I mean attempt to acquire him this guy’s not that great anymore but I’m curious to see what your thoughts are on this he’s an older player I believe he’s 34 but either way what are your thoughts on nazm padri being pursued by the Toronto Maple Leafs and I guess to pair up with some of the other veterans they have including Max Patti there’s a couple things here that I want to break down and then we’ll get to the nasm cadri thing but for Doug mlan to suggest that the Lea need a guy like nasm cadri to beat teams in the playoffs like the New York Rangers or the New Jersey Devils whose fan bases are calling those teams out for the exact same reasons Le fans are calling their team out because they’re soft and can’t get it done in the playoffs I think that’s a little bit ridiculous now on the nasm cad side I’m sure that Brad sh living is kicking tires on this player considering he’s the one who signed him to that contract in Calgary when he was the Calgary Flames GM so I’m sure he’s kicking tires and cadri you know on paper he’s the third line Center in Calgary this year and he’s having a really good year Calgary did not last year I think they were a lot worse than they were at least the analytics uh showed that so they had a bad year last year he’s rebound founded a little bit this year but he is getting older right and I don’t think that this trade makes any sense for the map Leafs especially considering the salary this is a guy who makes $7 million for another four years I have no idea how you’re going to fit that salary onto the team I’m sure they’re kicking tires and maybe could get another team involved right there’s ways you could absolutely get it done if you want to get it done but if they were to acquire nasm cadri your three centers and it would be deep it would be great one of the best in the league I think still even though a lot of them are older would be Austin Matthews johar is in nasm cadry we did this before five years ago right five six years ago we have seen this before I think I’ve moved off of it personally having nasm cadri back as a Toronto Maple Leaf we know what happens when he plays in the playoffs right like he got those suspensions he has a history now he barely played for the Leafs in the playoffs because after games two or three he would get suspended every series it seemed like even when he left the Leafs and he was on the Colorado Avalanche that happened the first year he was there so I think personally uh myself I think I’ve moved past this I think there’s better options there’s more cost effective options on the emotional side I get what fans are talking about like if the salary cap didn’t exist I would love nzm Kadri back on the team I think it would be a lot of fun I thought he was a great player when he was here I love nasm Kadri and but I just you know now he’s getting older right he’s already 34 his contract expires when he’s 38 $7 million I’m not sure where you’re going to find the room to fit that on this team right now yeah and looking into his stats a little bit here it’s a little bit interesting so he’s obviously 30 just turned 34 20 games five goals five assists and I mean the calary Flames are doing okay this year I believe they’re 11 six and two something along those lines and again he’s a solid player and the Leafs do need a third line Center so that would be the reason why people are putting this puzzle piece together for lack of a better word there with nasm Kadri but for one you mentioned it the salaries would have to match up you’d have to get a third team involved or something some you know bigger player on the leaf side would have to go back something of that nature whereas there’s other guys available like you’ve been talking about whether that’s ustad whether that’s Morgan Frost there’s so many different guys they could go for that I think are a little bit more cost effective you see this here John T is age 34 19 points in 19 Games 1 by 11 contract he’s two old trade him the team needs to get younger nasm Kadri also 34 10 points in 20 games 5 by seven OMG please trade for him Brad He’s the answer to all those teams problems and again I don’t know how many problems at this moment the Leafs have to be quite honest because I think they’re playing very good hockey with a very um I’m not going to say lackluster bottom six but a bottom six that isn’t quite as good as what we was when coming into the year because of all the inj depleted lineup that yeah for sure so now you’re looking at this and it’s like again we brought in a couple guys to help in the playoffs Max petti hopefully you know Yanni hakena from a physical standpoint in the playoffs is probably going to have his biggest impact in the playoffs rather than in the regular season I get what they’re saying but I think the report that they’re kicking tires with Calgary is interesting though I also think they’re probably kicking tires in some of the the other Calgary Flames players as well I think they would be and they’re going to have to because if you know nasm catri is going to come to Toronto in this hypothetical situation it’s going to involve a lot of players on both sides the Leafs are going to have to move out salary and I don’t know if they’re in a position to do that because look at the guys who’s who are making the most on the Toronto Maple Leafs you need them in the lineup you can’t trade them away I think they’re really in love with the decor right now I don’t feel like anyone’s really going to move off of the decor maybe Philip Meyer I know they hold him in high regard but he might be used as a trade chip but you’re not going to get nzm cadry for a player like that right you’re going to have to include draft picks as well at least would have to move significant salary even if Calgary retained and even if you got a third team involved right they would have to retain a ton of salary and then to have nazm cadri on this team Beyond this year would be an anchor it would be a problem so uh I don’t see this happening there are far better options out there in the league right now I would much rather a guy like Morgan Frost come in with you know some jump PES from Toronto he’s 25 years old I’d rather that into the lineup uh even though he doesn’t bring you know everything that cadri has including the experience in the Stanley Cup and all that I’d rather a guy like that I’d even even rather buad right who’s not you know the flashiest player or anything but again a right shot option um there’s a few things with him that I would like on the team but beyond those two guys as well we’re going to have other videos cuz the leaf are really kicking tires right now and there’s a lot coming out uh there’s a lot of better options I think than this um but in terms I think it’s the emotional side I think people remember cadri as being a great Leaf he was a good player when he was here uh obviously couldn’t get it done in the playoffs but uh while he’s here while he was here at least he woned Stanley Cup I will give him that but uh I think I’ve moved off of it personally and uh you know the $7 million I just have no idea how you would make that work there it’s it’s really tough but again would he help the team in the third line position yes but if the salary cap didn’t exist yeah it would take a lot of work and you see the here from least latest or leaste update sorry looks great on paper but the logistics aren’t there 7 million is too expensive especially for four more years until he’s 38 I’ll be surprised if if we hear anything sorry More Than This level of interest in the future so I think they’re kicking tires it makes sense he’s a solid playoff performer I mean again won the cop he maybe not with the Leafs as much but he could he’s a veteran guy like he’d help surely but not for $7 million maybe if it was at a $2.5 million capit or something like that but let us know down below what your
