the Philadelphia 76ers are off to a disastrous start to the season and showing no signs of turning things around as the organization looks to get back on track for the season they are beginning to expand their search outside the organization and looking for some impact players that could make a difference now there’s not been an encouraging start to this sixer season there’s no if ANS butts or any way to sugarcoat that to check in a little bit on how the TEAM stands we are talking about in the standing sitting at three and uh 13 14th in the Eastern Conference and dive into the on court as a whole they ranked 29th in points 29th in assists 29th in rebounds 29th in field goal percentage 29th in three-point percentage 29th in effective field goal percentage 27th in true shooting percentage there they are playing worse than teams that are trying to lose right now and there are a million reasons why well obviously health is the biggest storyline with Joel embiid only playing four of the available 16 games to this point still dealing with some swelling and injury issues in those KN which is a huge concern in the long run Paul George obviously has for two Bone bruises it has been everything that could go wrong has gone gone has gone wrong for the Sixers team now before I get into these trade targets a couple that have been mentioned in some recent articles that I do want to dive into my thoughts thoughts on do want to make it clear that December 15th is about the earliest a trade could possibly be done and there’s a couple restrictions on players depending on the contract and a couple other conditions that January 15th is that set date so at the minimum we still have a little bit of time but about 3 weeks until that point I do think it is time to start shopping so let’s dive into a couple different AR we’re going to start off from this from Bleacher Report talking about some potential trade targets the dream and realistic Target for each team for the Philadelphia 76ers it lists b bogdon bogdanovic as the ideal trade Target now it dives into a lot of kind of the offensive ability here I just want to start off by acknowledging what he brings to the table from a statistical output I’m not going to sugarcoat it and say this would be my dream Target 10.8 points per game for bogdon this year 3.2 uh rebounds 2.2 assists shooting 37.7% from three 33. 3% from Beyond The Arc shoots 44.4% on Corner threes 1,000% of his threes are assisted he’s 32 years old 6’5 a guy who I would say is an adequate Defender maybe slightly below average there but it is clearly the need for a offensive spark in this team once again to refer to the exact stats here we’re talking about this team ranking 29th in scoring 29th in best just about every notable shooting metric there that is what bdon bogdanovich does now when talk about the Sixers team there needs to be a hard look in the mirror for what they’re goals are both in the short term in the long run obviously ideally it is contending for a championship but for this specific season do you still feel confident in your odds of digging out this hole that you dug for yourself at 3 and 13 personally at this point in the season I still feel like there’s a chance that is the case but we need to see some signs of life in the short term that looking at these standings as a whole I know it looks bad but we’re talking about 13 games out of First Look up that standings and we’re talking about the fifth seed the the heat just eight games out of first there so we’re talking about five games out out of the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference there’s more than like 80% 75% of the Season left to this point there’s still time but they got to get working now my point being and why I bring that up that if this is a Lost season I don’t see the point in making any sort of trade sacrificing draft Capital to improve a roster that just clearly is not good enough there is still a chance this proceeds down to a lost year and I do think we’ll have a more concrete idea by the time that December 15th date rolls around but a player that does have me excited is not also mentioned in this bleach report article and this was listed under the the realistic Target category fire me up for some tar e the article writes we’ll go a different direction potentially positionally with e who wouldn’t add anything close to the playmaking and shooting bogdanovich would bring instead he’d offer some of the League’s best defense and hustle at the powered forward spot a position of relative need in Philly e could be Expendable at Houston tries to sort out which of its many young players to keep around for the Long Haul if the sixer could snag him they’d get a player who could legitimately transform their defense though he only played 22 games last season East ranked in the 96th perent percentile in defensive estimated plus minus and I would say that’s probably low based on the tar e that I have seen on the floor been a fan of his since College was a guy who was super high on coming out of the draft and I do think he’s not receiving the necessary opportunity down there in Houston and I’m Daryl myy I understand there are some broken relationships here that obviously things went South with my leaving the rockets in the first place and there’s a ton that goes on in the politics behind the scenes there but I’d be phoning up those Houston Rockets and saying whatever players you don’t believe are a part of your long-term core we want in on whether that’s Jabari Smith whether that’s Cam Whitmore but tar een would be at the top of my list here I do believe this guy is a Transcendent defensive Defender level of of talent there that he is everywhere every time you watch him on the floor the hustle the energy it’s infectious and that is stuff that would change things for the Sixers team and why I think that’s particularly noteworthy is I think t e checks the boxes for both a Jared McCain Tyrese maxed team and a Joel and Paul George Le team that he’s going to be totally comfortable being the defensive-minded guy that is zeroed in on that side of the floor for either situation and I do think that we should note kind of the difference in how those teams are structured with Joel embiid the name of the game and surrounding team around him it’s shooting it’s you need guys that can space the floor that are afraid to double down on Joel because there will be a kick out and open three-point look that’s kind of how you build a proper team around him obviously you still need perimeter defense playmaking and I still think they lack in the playmaking category for this specific roster as well there’s other factors as well but that’s kind of the Bare Bones B the foundation is to have Shooters around Joel embiid if you’re talking about building around Jared McCain and Tyrese Maxi which we’ll see if we’re having that conversation that is one I I guess a little bit more in the Long View you’re going to need rangy athletic tall Wings behind them we’ve seen teams that have been capable of doing it the Cleveland Cavs are a recent success story who are obviously built around two small guards with Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell there look behind them Evan Moy a legitimate all NBA caliber Defender Jared Allen and All-Star Center himself and they still got a ton of wings probably not as great as they probably should be for that but MO is the guy that allows that straw to stir this the drink there allow that to be possible for that team to fully work now to dive into a little bit of uh e e specific metric metrics here doing to pull up what he’s averaging on the season 11.8 points per game there 6.4 rebounds 1.1 assist 1.1 block 2.2 steals which is absurd stuff based on the limited minutes that he is playing shooting 34.6% from three and 50.9% from the field overall that’s good stuff there that’s good metrics again defense is where his bread will be buttered for the entirety of his NBA career and I would love for that to happen in Philadelphia now did want to shift into one more Target that was mentioned this coming from uh sport casting I believe or uh was it yeah Sports sport casting was the website here and they write uh for this topic here Simone fotoo so the article writes they need more floor spacing to get back to where they were losing buddy heeld and Nicholas patum hurt them in that regard they have one Ace in the Hole to save them in in that regard KJ Martin’s contract Martin is in the first year of a two-year $16 million contract the second year of his current deal is non- guaranteed Sur rival Executives believe these sixes will trade it Jake fiser reported on Mark Stein’s sub substack what these Executives believe the Sixers will do with Martin’s deal quote as for any changes to the roster these Sixers have plenty of optionality with KJ Martin’s 7.9 million salary and other potential outgoing pieces with rival Executives having long expected Philadelphia to to scour the power forward Market as we get closer to the February 6th trade deadline so combine their lack of shooting with their need for a power forward and it’s clear that some that they need a stretch four one player who would fit what they need is Detroit pittson Ford Simone foto now I’m a big fan of this guy’s game I talked about him a little bit at last year’s deadline ultimately he was traded away and a guy that I thought the Sixers should have shown a little bit more interest in to dive into what he brings to the table from a statistical standpoint here will pull this up that on the season he’s been pretty limited for opportunity 28 years old average just 5.9 points per game 3.0 rebounds shooting 33.9% from Beyond The Arc here 70.2% of all his shots are three-pointers there he’s got good size at 6 fo8 he’s kind of being squeezed out for minutes by Tobias Harris which is a little bit funny to me in the the whole context of things there and they have other Talent as well Jaylen durren is kind of holding things down at the center position but they go a little bit bigger than I would say most teams Isaiah Stewart in the mix as well the bottom line being photoa has just kind of found himself on the outside looking in that is something that would I would entertain absolutely e for sure is probably my number one trade Target across the board for this Sixers team but they need anything right now they need any signs of life so I’m open to any ideas possible I’m even open to trying to swing both of this and I will note once again this has been part of my level of optimism for why I was in on the Paul George sweep stakes from the start of it if they had to trade everything to get a Jimmy Butler or another star like that you basically have no options to go from here while it is not ideal that more or less this is the Sixers team and to pull up the depth chart for exactly what they look like like here that this is kind of what the roster is fully constructed in but you still have draft picks to trade that KJ Martin contract is a human trade chip feel a little bit bad for KJ who by the way I think has deserved more minutes than he has gotten on this Sixers team a little bit confused by what what that is the reason but the reality is he will not be a part of this team in the long run and he knows that he got a little extra coin in the bank account as a part of that deal that’s how things are shaking out but he is essentially a human trade chip for the rest of the season so there is still about 3 weeks until we can remotely have any of these conversations and really probably another month after that until looking around the league that all the players that you’re looking to tap into or potentially make deals with are available to have a trade happen we’re still in it for the long haul and I will note this as I do in a lot of videos for the complete blow it up situation Joel embiid is ineligible to be traded this year because he signed that extension that offseason so while I hear you on the frustration while I’m closer to that point than I’ve ever been during the Joel embiid era that is a conversation for the off season and for now you got to buckle up and try to find a way to get this team to scrapping back to an O to a potential tender there so once again they have dug themselves quite a hole to start this season at 3 and 13 14th Place in the Eastern Conference but I think how we see this team fight over the coming days how we see them try to climb up the standings and if that looks at all possible will tell us a lot about what the Outlook is for the Sixers team moving forward so if we’re getting closer to this trade deadline and we’re starting to see them climb up the standings here all of a sudden we may be looking at them getting hot at the right time and having at least a puncher chance here I’m not overly optimistic based on the product that we have seen on the floor but that that is basically the only option they have is to continue competing in the short term and hope things work themselves out we’ll see how things go but let me know what you guys
