Big E schedule for both these teams St John’s uh made some headlines patino did earlier this week saying that he was not going to shake hands starting with this Providence game which I’m sure just Reckless speculation has nothing to do with players on providence’s roster that he may or may not have tampered with that are still on providence’s roster I’ll let you draw your own conclusions as to who that player or players might be but nonetheless uh fun game should be at the amp artist from known as the dunk on Friday night it’s an interesting game for Providence because Providence has lost five of their last seven games the one win in or one of the two wins in that stretch was against BYU in which they looked awesome to Paul was the other Victory they won in overtime Bryce Hopkins played a key role in both those games his status for Friday at least at the time of this recording is up in the air St Johns has not had those struggles up to number 11 in kenpom Dion just big picture looking at this game what’s the one thing that jumps out to you that you’re looking forward to watching I’m always looking forward to Rick patino just being him second greatest coach in Kentucky history B behind my dog cal um I thought you say Mark Pope um making his way up there but you know I had I had to throw a little JB it’s been a minute since I took one at Mark Pope so had to take a quick one uh but no honestly I just enjoy watching Rick patina be himself um I think this is a fun game you said is that the dunk I’m still calling it that the amp yeah the dunk uh shout out Dunkin Donuts uh Providence is a really good home team too I enjoy watching Providence play basketball at home like they look like a team that can make a run in the tournament I don’t enjoy watching Providence play on the road uh don’t fact check me on their home in away splits if they’re the same I do not care um because they are not when I’m when I’m watching so um Provence is very fun at home patino is just a fun coach in general to your Point Providence is 6-0 at home they are quick math here one and five in Road and neutral games hand up this guy knows ball that guy knows ball this guy knows ball I do think so much of providence’s like the chance in this game comes down to Bryce hop the offense has been so hot and cold in the back court some of the transfers they’ve had come in that they were expecting to play big roles have not the defense has still been solid it’s been offensively and scoring points where they’ve been inconsistent benley Joseph has probably been the most consistent guy you’re hoping to get more from Wesley cardette you’re hoping to get more from ABD rahee it just hasn’t necessarily been there Bryce Hopkins seems to be the the piece that puts it all together as a go to score when he’s healthy and on the court they kind of need him to do that in your mind what does Providence have to do to win because to me it’s just a matter of is is Bryce Hopkins healthy enough to play a full load or not um I mean I I don’t know yeah I don’t I think I agree I don’t know if it really comes down to Providence per se it’s like what does Bryce Hopkins have to do to win and that answer is probably a 30 ball um I think it more so does Bryce have what it takes to go get them one uh I don’t think Providence can match up with St John’s team for team uh specifically when we get into the coaching advantage that I think St John’s has over Providence um but Bryce Hopkins is the best player on the court to me so if he decides like I want to go win this game by myself uh I’m I think that’s really their only chance I think so too from St John’s perspective they’re on a four-game win streak uh the loss were the double overtime loss to Baylor and then kind of the puzzling one to Georgia and the Bahamas um in that the week leading up to Thanksgiving but since then they’ve looked really really good dominant on both ends of the Court as I mentioned they’re up to number 11 in kenpom right now top 20 both the offensive and defensive sides of the court but this stretch has not come against the the best competition Providence is another chance for them to kind of make their statement what have you seen from St John’s were you expecting from the Red Storm on this one uh ball pressure I think is one thing that I think St John’s can has done well but also can take to another level but mostly what I’m looking for from St John’s is I mentioned how good Providence is at home weather that storm you’re the Red Storm weather their storm um so I think if they can just show like they have that maturity because with with St John’s like I know I know it’s not like one of the best teams Rick patino’s ever had but any Rick patino team regardless of talent we kind of like can they make a run I mean I when I when he was at Iona I was like well how many can they get in March just because it’s it’s slick rick um so if they’re able to show some of that maturity and that composure I think that’s the biggest thing I’m looking for for them in terms of making that next step um but ultimately like I think this this game kind of comes down to like does Bryce Hopkins want it you know who is eighth in Ken bom’s National Player of the Year ratings plays for St John’s it’s not gadar I know it’s not kadari it’s RJ Lewis really he has been awesome this season he has scored at least 11 points in every single game that they’ve played he been really good on the defensive end as well he’s kind of becoming the guy for this team and I I I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing that may that may be me not giving him enough credit because he was really good down the stretch of last season um but I think this is another chance for him to kind of make an individual statement as well against a good Providence defense but not one that you know is GNA absolutely bottle him up without giving him any chances to do anything I think we could see a big RJ Lewis game I uh couldn’t be less moved um by 11 points in all your games I mean I listen I understand you got to have someone that’s eighth in National Player of the Year rankings like I get it we got to go that far down the line sometimes um I want to volunteer myself to ensure that there’s no more rankings that include a guy that’s scoring 11 points per game no no no at Le he scored in double figures in all his games he’s averaging 17.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game got it okay Mur uh could it let’s let’s go with the 17 uh for for propaganda purposes let’s just stick with that uh couldn’t be less moved that he scored 11 in all the games uh because all yeah just couldn’t be less move like I’d hope so consistency consistency eighth best player in the country I hope you’re getting the 10 my dog ji broom like tore his shoulder popped it back in place went out there 20 you know what I mean like like I don’t know could it be less moved by that 17 sounds a lot better though yeah 17 points per game he he is cross the 20o plateau three times he’s I think he needs to put a a big performance like this to to help sway people like you uh who may not be sold on RJ Lewis now down basketball the same way that St John’s kind of likes to St John’s wants to get up and down both of them want to make the game kind of ugly and gritty and so I don’t know if there’s going to be a huge Advantage for anybody in that standpoint um so give me Providence plus 6.5 at The Amp AKA Artist as the dunk you know what give me St John’s just because they decided to change this the arena n
