New Orleans is 5 and 21 this season their worst record through 26 games in over a decade the PS haven’t won consecutive games since the first two games of the season so with the unofficial trade season opening on Sunday our own Bobby marks he is releasing his all trade teams next week and here’s a sneak peek thank you Bobby for sharing it with us here on NBA Today of the first team Dennis schruder from the Brooklyn Nets Zack LaVine from the Bulls Jimmy Butler and a pair of injured Pelican Stars in Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson so Bobby let’s focus in on Zion and Brandon Ingram where do you see them fitting yeah I think for Brandon Inger M certainly out with with this injury I think the availability of him becoming a free agent acquiring his bird rights is is certainly something that’s attractive here and I think for me it’s San Antonio that would make the most sense there just the ability to to either extend him or sign him to a contract in the offseason here certainly with Victor wanyama on this roster they’ve got some Financial flexibility they’ve got draft picks so when you’re looking at a player like Kellin Johnson and Zach Collins that’s two players remember this team has a ton of draft picks let’s just throw in this Chicago first and that works as far as it for Brandon Ingram now Zion is interesting here certainly just because he is injured right now we don’t know when he’s coming back for him to be on the court that’s how you can get the most value for him either in a trade or with the Pelicans Chan i’ I’ve always circled and we talked about it earlier in the week Golden State would be certainly that team there for Zion here and here’s why if you’re looking for that next superstar that maybe can has that upside I think Williamson could be that guy if he’s healthy and when you look at it what would New Orleans or Golden State have to go give out and trade Andrew wiggin certainly is that big trade number and then you look at it certainly from a like Brandon pmsk for example and then we’re going to put Kavon Looney in there and that works there so certainly Golden State if you don’t have to give up and you’re looking for that potential Allstar out there on a low risk there wow Bobby that that machine is hot because right now you’re gas in that thing right now VI potentially to San Antonio Zion potentially to Golden State Shams what do you see the Pelicans doing with this roster their phone lines will be blowing up between now and February 6th because they’ve got so much talent on this team you think about it B Ingram Zion Williamson Trey Murphy the third C.J McCullum Deonte Murray yees Missi they’ve got so many bodies there that I think other teams look at that could help them uh but it starts with Brandon Ingram because he’s in the last year of his deal anytime a player is in that circumstance you either you’re looking at a trade or an extension and for Ingram getting back on the floor is going to be big he’s on he’s playing he’s rehabbing significant ankle sprain right now so getting him back on the court seeing what his value is going to be but I’m told they’ve gotten an uptick of calls in recent days on Ingram on other players on their roster herb Jones is another guy uh that has gotten a ton of calls with the Pelicans but they don’t have an interest in moving him as of right now so this is a Pelicans team to keep an eye on and it really is going to start with Brandon they are not in a position where they can just stand Pat I expect the Pelicans to make some sort of move at again two days players available it’s going to get very spicy very quickly and speaking of which taking a look at where Jimmy Butler may end up because Shams reported yesterday today that Butler has a site set on four teams that he could be traded to they include the Mavericks the Rockets the Suns and the Warriors Butler’s agent Bernie Lee he posted on social media refuting this ESPN stands by our reporting but before all of that Jimmy spoke to reporters Wednesday on how he’s dealing with this trade shatter I actually like it it’s good to be talked about I don’t think there’s a such thing is uh like bad publicity to a point uh but you know somebody talking about me getting that’s a lot I’m not worried about no extension uh we handle all of that whenever it gets here take your day by day the more articles that are come out the more you going ask me questions about it so keep the Articles coming all right Shams you have been on the Forefront of this reporting surrounding Butler but how exactly have we gotten to this point with the heat and with Jimmy so from the off season to now what’s transpired is the season ends he obviously wants a contract extension he has this season at 49 million on his deal and a $52 million player option for next season and that plays a big part in everything Pat Ry came out after the season ended last year made some pretty point in comments they were at their place no extension and they weren’t going to move off that and Jimmy Butler has made it clear on the league that he also intends to opt out of his deal and become a free agent that gives him a level of Leverage here and as I reported on Tuesday in my inside pass the heat are beginning to listen to offers for Jimmy Butler and there have been three teams at that point that would communicate around the league as teams jimy Butler would be open to going to in a win now contending situation that’s the Dallas Mavericks the Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors and yesterday I reported that the suns were included in that list and so if VI the heat they’ve been really in in in the middle of the pack the last couple years in the standings in the playin tournament race they have to see what’s out there and Jimmy Butler likewise he’s entering the last year’s deal potentially if he opts out what happens there what happens with him his options so this is something that’s fluid and we’ll be monitoring this pretty much daily up until the trade deadline When you mention the Phoenix Suns I start thinking about second apron teams and then I need to bring in the human calculator anytime we get into those conversations it’s a good thing Bobby marks is here to explain how these teams could make a move for Jimmy Bobby please share your knowledge yeah we’re going to start with Phoenix here so all right great when you look at Phoenix and Miami it it’s actually probably more of the the simpler trade just from a money standpoint when you’re looking at it because Jimmy Butler’s at that $49 million now here’s the big if Bradley Beal got a no trade clause that carried over in the trade from from Washington here if Beal waved the no trade clause and certainly when you look at it from Phoenix’s perspective they have a first round pick that actually works but from from Miami’s perspective Beal has $110 million left on his contract here so it doesn’t really make sense they you would rather just you know you add in a player like Thomas Bryant here that certainly works but as I said Miami would be better off just extending Jimmy Butler then taking on that Bradley Beal contract and certainly Beal would have to wave that no trade clo the other team certainly that we’re going to keep an eye on as um as Shams mentioned here is certainly going to be Golden State and similar to where Dallas is they would basically have to send out about three or four players in a Jimmy Butler type trade and when you look at it certainly Andrew Wiggins is going to be another player DeAnthony Melton see we we start stacking the money here when you look at Melton buddy hee Lindy Waters it’s basically going to take them about four players to go out and do a Jimmy Butler type deal and that’s going to be the same situation at the Dallas Mavericks so when you look at it from that perspective here it works but it’s basically sending out four players so similar SAR to what Dallas is going to go through getting Jimmy Butler will cost you your depth here okay so that’s some of the calculations here Dallas Golden State Suns Rockets perk you look pensive is there a destination you prefer I told you about using them big words I told you I like alliteration P look look look any one of those situations I Believe Jimmy buler could help any one of those teams but at this point we got to ask ourselves is it worth it right Pat Riley didn’t extend Jimmy Butler this off seon and it was the right decision by Pat Riley it was a business decision we’re talking about a guy that 35 years old we’re talking about the guys going like that’s basically the back end of his prime does it really make sense I feel like at this point in his career he’s auditioning to show that he’s capable of getting his max dollar so who is Jimmy Butler uh DG like he’s not a second option no more is he the third option on the contingent team more than likely a third option but he he’s he’s a very good player that’s who he is you know and he shows up in the playoffs the stigma with him is that he doesn’t play regular season he not as available we know he can make an impact on any of these teams as Mr Mark shown it’s going to take a lot of pieces and why would Miami want Mr Mark why would why would Miami want these pieces you know some of the pieces that they have to give why would those teams want to give up those pieces for Jimmy the dollar amount that he wants is hard for him to go to these contending teams with them having to give up some pieces I don’t see that happening so what he’s looking for an extension he’s probably have to go to a lower tier team than those teams looking for you could just call you could just call them Bob hello dub Nation the Golden State Warriors may be making a big move in the trade market given their up and down season after a promising start to the 2024 to 25 season the team has struggled with consistency in its play which begs the question are Mike dunlevy Jr Joe lacob and Steve Kerr planning a high impact trade let’s take a look at that possibility and explore some recent challenges the team has faced including injury concerns we’ll also discuss the future of players like Jonathan kaminga and the implications of potential roster changes last week NBA Insider Shams chania told ESPN that the Warriors are in a real search for a Star to join Stephen Curry and Draymond Green chirania recalled the team’s attempts last off season to acquire players like Lori marinan from the Utah Jazz and Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers the main question Accord according to Shams is whether the Warriors will find that peace outside of their current roster or whether Jonathan Kinga could be that internal solution kuminga who recently had a standout performance with 33 points against the Houston Rockets remains a central figure in discussions about the team’s future despite kinga’s potential his relationship with Steve cerr has been the subject of speculation the coach has mentioned that the team is trying to maximize Jonathan kuminga but the general perception is is that the Warriors are looking to increase his market value for a possible trade this makes sense considering that kaminga has yet to establish himself as a key player in the team’s offensive and defensive systems especially alongside Curry and green since the start of the season the Warriors have experimented with different lineups including returning kuminga to the starting lineup however statistics show that his performance as a starter is virtually identical to his performance Off the Bench suggesting that his impact does not vary significantly with court time or role that raises questions about how well they can adapt to kurr’s dynamic system which prioritizes spacing and movement off the ball if the Warriors are serious about competing for a title this season they need to make bold and quick decisions acquiring a proven star like Jimmy Butler or Brandon Ingram could transform the team but those moves also require sacrificing valuable assets like kaminga and potentially other young Tal ENT or draft picks another issue complicating the Warriors situation is the ongoing injury crisis Andrew Wiggins was absent from the recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a right ankle injury Wiggins one of the team’s top defensive options is essential to containing opposing stars like Anthony Edwards his absence has forced Kurt to adjust the lineup moving Gary Payton 2 to the primary Defender which has worked well but isn’t a sustainable solution in addition Moses Moody has also dealt with knee issues that have sidelined him in a few recent games Moody who had been a consistent presence in the rotation has been down in terms of stats this season compared to last year with fewer minutes on the court and an increase in turnovers his confidence has been shaken further diminishing his influence on the team despite the adversity the Warriors have shown flashes of Brilliance in their most recent win Stephen Curry scored points including a stunning 15-point run in the second quarter Draymond Green also contributed an energetic performance including a game-winning dunk other players such as Kevin Looney have shown consistency averaging nearly a double double in recent games recently acquired buddy healed finally broke out of a period of inconsistency hitting seven three-pointers in one game however his history suggests that his productivity may be intermittent with key players like Looney and heal on expiring contracts the Warriors have a limited window to maximize the potential of their current roster with the trade deadline approaching the Warriors will need to carefully evaluate their options recently signed players like DeAnthony Milton and Jonas valunas will be eligible for trade after December 15th which could increase the potential for trade action the decision to keep or trade Kingo will be crucial to the team’s future meanwhile while securing wigan’s health and rebuilding Moody’s confidence could be equally important to the team’s Ambitions regardless of the choices the next month will be crucial in determining whether the Warriors remain title contenders or face a transitional season we know the Warriors are still watching the trade market and looking to make a big- Time addition to the team and the NBA to capitalize on Steph Curry’s final Seasons so the upcoming offseason is shaping up to be a critical time for the Golden State Warriors who are poised to reshape the trajectory of the franchise will they commit to one last championship run or will they opt for a financial restructuring Mike dunlevy Jr and the front office face a daunting array of choices
