da Friday Night Football at Edgley Park um these nights under the lights always have a special feel here don’t they yeah if we make them if we make them special um yeah there been some some good nights um that we we’ll all remember and hopefully um another one in front of us it’s obviously an important game um and the start of a I suppose a busy period going into into Christmas in New Year so um hopefully profitable in terms of the points return we can get will be your final home game of of 2024 um a year that no one at this club will ever forget of course winning the title the obvious highlight but what have the other standout moments been for you I suppose uh yeah I’ve done a thingy I’ve done a uh for the New Year’s Day game I’ve done like I suppose a top 10 um there’s maybe more than than 10 I don’t want to give too many Secrets away around around what I picked um the obvious ones are as you say um going back to uh going back to last season the the kns county game and um I suppose that run a four games really Colchester when you’re nearly there onto um Moran when you are and then um KN County and then getting the trophy against against aington so those four sort of mixed together and then come into into this season our first game will always be one that you’ll remember obviously first away game taking 4,000 supporters to um to to Blackpool um and then the most recent obviously two two really good um performances and victories against Bolton bouncing back from the wiek game and then and against Rex so there’s been there’s been loads I think you got look back to what last season was um there were some there were some pivotal moments probably the most pivotal one um again he’s one I’ve picked the 5- nil win against against MK Dons but I think the first time where we played late on the TV and if we lost that game then we’d have dropped out of the top three which we’d been in for um a large large part of the Season that Consolidated our play in the uh in the top three with with MK D just outside and that went a long way to giving us more uh more belief and and sort of stamping our credentials around going and finishing in that top three and to eventually finish um as Champions was like I said was a dream for everybody coming back to the hearing now you’ve had a few days to to dissect Saturday’s result have you been able to pinpoint since maybe what went wrong in in that second half and and I suppose draw a line under it since yeah we draw a line under things regardless of what happens win win or lose good or bad as soon as possible um it’s not so much what went wrong it’s more why and and and did we recognize it and how do we deal with it better if that occurrence happens happens again um and they’re the things you need to um you need to need to get to grips with um and that’s as players and as a as a staff um how can we over the course of a game maybe have a a reset mentally if things aren’t quite going in our favor I think from our perspective at the side of the pitch the easiest thing to do is to try and make substitutions and sometimes that makes M matters worse so we need to look at look at that um whether it’s it’s controlling the decision-making process of it that doesn’t then lead to more pressure and more frustration which means your Technique gets challenged then it just becomes a vicious a vicious circle with what that what that looks like um we could be better at getting getting out of that and understanding what we need to do to get out of that because we’ve got lots of experience on the pitch and lots of good players on the pitch um so like I said we’ had a had a chat um and I envisage that at some point it will it will definitely happen again you have spells in games where things don’t go in your favor um the the hard bit about that is how can you get a foot old and how can you um cease and turn that momentum back in your in your back in your favor um and hopefully when it does happen we’re better equipped to be able to do that mean you mentioned after the game about leadership you said that was something that you were working on was that is that in terms of recruitment or is that more of an internal process with the players no yeah it’s an internal process across across the board um not just with with players with with with staff and it’s something we’ve been doing for uh for the last few years we we want to we want to get better in every every facet of what we’re what we’re trying to do and whether it be leadership on the pitch in those moments and whether it be off off the pitch in terms of round round here and how things are uh how things are taken care of um we’re big on accountability we’re big on ownership um and we need to get better at it um that’s not to say we’re not already in a in a good place but we feel it’s an area that we can definitely improve and and it’s something that was started off last season um this season being a newer a newer group if you like with new faces we’ve had a a little bit of a reset around what that looks like we continue to try and evolve and get better um in those parts of um not just the game and the squad but the club in terms of recruitment obviously the janary trans window is coming up you do have a big Squad at your disposal it needed to be that because of the injuries you had at the start of the Season would you still like to add to it in January do you have the scope to do that um I suppose you have the scope to do whatever whatever you whatever you want really it’s um there’ll be there’ll be people within the um within the building that ultimately aren’t happy with where they are currently around whether it be game time or opportunities or or or things like that that ultim might want to go and play some games there’ll be people that we feel need to go and play some games to get themselves closer and I suppose um unearth the the potential that we feel they have likewise there’ll be areas where we’ll ideally want to try and create competition or or cover areas where we might be a little bit a little bit short um but them things will will take care of themselves as when when January comes it’s the it’s the type of window that’s that’s unpredictable um that you probably um although you can be proactive you probably got to be reactive as well around whether it be injuries whether it be form whether it be suspensions um but one thing’s for certain when that window closes obviously we know we have to go to the end of the season with the squad that we’ve got so we’ve got to make sure we’re we’re well covered and well prepared to to be able to do that in terms of injuries and looking ahead to Friday any concerns to come out with Saturday as everyone as you were um no not out of Saturday the anyone who well not a doubt who who’s out will be Tao um who again got injured um in the in the last game just an ankle um we’ve had him scanned and he’s going to be a couple of weeks um I suppose as he goes out no potentially comes back in um he’s trained all week um so again yeah he’s available for selection but the reality of it is he’s been out for for a long time but if we can get some minutes into him um over the next couple of weeks and try and get him back up to speed as I say when that transfer window eventually closes and he’s um hopefully fit and really available for us then that would be a would be a positive and in terms of the two longer term ones Nick Paul and and and Tyler on yango do you have a time scale on them uh Tyler uh will be yeah we be after the window shut we’ll be probably closer to March than than than January um uh Nick is on scheduled to I think return to train January first first week or second week in January and that’s Remains The Remains the Same um and probably Jaden not not too not too dissimilar around around his return so um they’re all like I say all on track but or not longterm but certainly medium-term in terms of in terms of when they do return looking at tomorrow and and looking at this pet side second highest scorers in the league second worst defensive record in the league I guess you could call them predictable but what you can predict is that they’ll come here tomorrow night and and have a real go yeah unpredictable in their nature of um what the what they’re like as an attacking attacking threat because what they do have is is real pace and power across the top line on both sides of the pitch and down the middle um they’ve been pretty predictable in their their lineup and the shape and how they go about things so they want to try and have control of the ball they to want to look after it um but they are a real real threat going forwards because like I said the pace and the and the um the power and the drib dribbling ability they have in wide areas and not up the middle of the pitch um but let you say on the back of that they’ve been a little bit a little bit open um they are expansive they do want to play which again is has got them rewards in terms of goals but it’s also there’s risk around it has got them um sort of a few kicks in terms of the goals that they’ve conceded but um yeah I would suggest that um I don’t know for certain but probably not been many nil nil games that they’ve been involved in over the course of the season because they do go about things in a in a certain way or a or a team that in normal circumstances um do try and outscore the the opponents which um makes an exciting game does this feel like a big game now I suppose in terms of setting you up for the run that you’ve got over the festive period where you face the three relegated teams back to back um no it doesn’t no it doesn’t feel like that big a game I think when you when you first saw the fixtures at the start of the Season you maybe thought um this looks like a really tough run with Peter BR who were in the playoffs last season plus the three relegated teams you expected that those would be right in and around it and you probably expected from our own perspective we were going into the unknown a little bit around what we were looking at but um I think we can take confidence of how we’ve how we’ve um started if you like this the season and how we’ve gone about our our our stuff um they’re all tough games like I said I think um the league is really really tight I I take Birmingham out of it because I think they are well above everything else in the in the division still remain that’s the um that’s my thought and my opinion um but I think everywhere else is pretty close so you can look at it and go Peter and Rother haven’t really started in the mar that that they would have wished for does that mean that they’re less of a threat than they were at the start he absolutely not because they’re both both good teams that have um won games and lost games and probably haven’t found that consistency Huddersfield themselves have been a little bit up and down and have had a really good run recently and Birmingham and Birmingham so um they’re all they’re all tough games but I don’t see that um tomorrow’s really pivotal in the fact that um you’d say oh it’s a a must- win because the next three games are tough ones it’s the next game for us so it’s the most important one it goes into a like I say busy Christmas period where we have an opportunity to to pick up points but we have two tough away games in hutsfield and um and Rotherham and then New Year’s Day um an exciting game in front of us but that’s four games away so um concentrate on what uh tomorrow is Darren will have his team right up for it um and we know that we’re for a right test um and hopefully we can come out on top appreciate it Sam as always day welcome cheers thank you
