right only one place to start Joe we alluded to it we’re going to start by talking about booby’s beloved Manchester City uh draw to Crystal Palace on the weekend followed by two-nil defeat away to Juventus in the Champions League midweek which means incredibly it’s just one win in 10 games in all competitions for the reigning Champions incredible stat this week that since the start of November City actually conceded more goals across all competitions than any other team in Europe’s Big Five Le te in Europe’s top five Le crazy seeing the talent they’ve got at their disposal say that one more time uh I yeah um what on a serious note what do you put that down to because I look at you’ve got the greatest manager in the world some of the greatest players it is incredible this and surprising this run the city R what did you put it down to it’s all it’s all down to the The Emptiness in the Midfield it really is because this city Side in a lot of the games I know they’re losses but a lot of the the gam see you keeping a lot of the ball a lot of it is side to side it’s not the best possession in the world but de bruy honestly for 45 minutes against Juventus had a really good game he was Finding really good pockets of space Jack Gish as well was playing in Midfield as soon as the ball is turned over I’ve never seen anything like it honestly I’ve never seen anything like it with with how quick Juventus were able to break down the lines and whip things into the box and and they scored some crazy goals the Juventus Center back’s going up and trying to do bicycle kicks against us honestly and in my in my preview for the Manchester Derby City have to drop deep now have to drop 10 it’s basic football you have to drop deep you want them to play deep football and play and play five seriously also I don’t know why these guys are laughing they’re the biggest club in the world and they’re still not favorites to win the game if they beat City in the derby they’re still even a top half side that’s how embarrassing they are by the way but we have to be deeper mate we have to be a lot deeper as a side okay I only asked him one question a big already lost it yes from one side of the the coin to the other you were actually laughing throughout that so uh what what what did you put it down to like what’s going on at Man City in the minute first of all one man’s pain is another man’s pleasure so I’ll take pleasure out of that I think the the big stat that I read this week that has actually shocked me is the fact that man City squad is the fourth oldest in the Premier League yeah that’s a that’s that’s a huge cause for concern and you look at it especially that Midfield I think you you’ve summed it up perfectly you look at Bernardo Silva you look at ilkai gundan you look at Kevin the bur I agree and his cameos has been great but I think his availability I think physically he has dropped off a level obviously it’s still a world class player but those are three players that have been so crucial to your success along with rodri who’s missed he’s going to miss the rest of this season that’s a lightweight Midfield and you’re looking at the guys who are coming in there along with the recruitment that City have done in the past few seasons which we always give praise to the city in terms of they never sell players when they don’t or they don’t hold people back from leaving they don’t spend more than they have to they pull out of deals when they don’t have to but I think it’s benefit of hindsight but you look at the last few Windows the players that they’ve missed they were link with Dean rice last season uh Arsenal went took him they were L to Jude Bellingham Real Madrid went and took them and at the time you could say City you know what they could live without them but you look now I think a failure to replenish the squad with real bigname Bonafide top players is kind of now rearing its ugly head and you look at the squad on paper great names when in reality they’re not playing like that yeah that was a lovely te up isn’t it for our feature today isn’t it perfect segue probably yes so today we’re going to be talking transfers Manchester City some targets that they should be looking at either in January or next summer some January moves maybe to turn the fortunes around but also some long-term moves that can have significant impacts for the future of Man City and Pep Guardiola we’re going to go in reverse order you’ve both got names to bring to the table let’s start five start with five interesting pep spoke about this it was about this in in his press conference about whether or not he’ um what’s going to happen in January so it’s very topical at the minute let’s start with your fifth most important play so we culminate in your number one fifth most important player Anthony Robinson of Fulham and you’ve got Benjamin pavard so booy let’s start with you yeah Robinson for me’s obvious got lots of Premier League experience he’s a a really good age profile I think sometimes when you talk about transfers yes you can go after 20 year olds 19 year olds you need players that are going to come in and influence the side straight away 27’s a great age he’s probably one he’s probably top five left backs in in the Premier League he’s not quite a European level left back he’s playing at fullham with all due respect he plays really well played well against Arsenal well against the big six he’s more than good enough to play against the big six I think he’s due a big move Robinson I really like him and actually if you look at Man City all the great players we’ve had in the last 10 15 years uh the left back Situation’s always little bit V has been great this season up to this sort of short running games Rec Center back so you just him in Center back yeah he wants to be a center back he’s a young Center back he’s coming for a lot of money you must be so frustrated going out there and playing at left back for longer than a season last season it was a bit of a stop Gap AK had injuries uh obviously canel not in the squad anymore Robinson would for me would be a pretty feasible transfer fee as well 30 million quid maybe it’s an interesting player that actually profile it’s interesting you might mention that area as a as a I don’t want to say problem area because you’ve won League titles year after year but it’s an area that you think man most overl runs in the Premier League this season second most open Play crosses in the Premier League this season as well having a great season for a left back I think yeah you going with pav I’ve gone for the other side I’ve gone for a right back right I think back and fullback in general under pep is such a difficult position to kind of profile a potential signing because what does Pep want in his Defenders you’ve seen in the past he’s had out andout fullbacks you’ve seen in the past he’s played a right footer on the left now he’s playing center backs out wide sometimes he wants his fullbacks to invert sometimes he wants his fullbacks to form a back three in possession so it’s very difficult to pick one and that’s why I’ve gone for Benjamin cavard first of all this is a guy that pep and City wanted last summer they wanted last summer when Kyle Walker was meant to go to Bayern he was at Bayern he ended up going to inter instead they kept Kyle Walker and I talk about all this stuff about different profiles and how he wants his R this guy can play as a center back he can play in a back three on the right side which he’s currently doing at enter and he can play at right back which he’s done winning the World Cup for France it’s not the most luxurious uh illustrious name I think there are potentially better players individually that you can sign but in terms of doing a job in numerous different roles I think they could do a lot worse than Benjamin pavard he’s having a fantastic season some City’s best recruitment in recent years you think to players like Manuel aangi who have been slightly under the radar names even Nathan a when he came necessarily huge names have they but have had gradual success up to sort of elite level status under pep guard I think Pav’s an interesting shout there out of into though has to be said kind of joined and into themselves are doing well uh number four Bruno from Newcastle United now you both G with Bruno Bruno both got him but you’ve got him at different points haven’t you so you’ve got him four of you and where have you got him I’ve got him three so interesting talking point with Bruno cuz obviously he’s a player Newcastle won’t want to lose Newcastle fans absolutely love him he’s a quality player but they have got that situation where we heard Eddie how speaking about M and some of the players that he didn’t want to leave but he said we had to um let those players go to balance the books in order to bring other players in so do you think this is a realistic Target for Manchester City Newcastle V will hate me saying this but do you think this is actually attainable yeah I think you got look at the player as well he’s unbelievable in terms of his quality and when a player knows how good they are he’s influencing things at the highest level he’s still playing with some in my opinion average players at Newcastle United they’re not going to win the Premier League anytime soon they’ve not won a league title in in an earlier Century so with all due respect so he’s going to be looking how can I play Champion League football every season he deserves that as the quality of player that he is and I think if City bid 80 million in January I think Newcastle would have to be tempted it reminds me a little bit when City bid for jolian lescot from Everton it’s that kind of if you just get to a certain number they sort of have to let the player go jolian lecot wanted to leave Everton to join man January think I I know I understand like the PSR issues but I can hear Newcastle fans just scam he he alongside isack is probably our most unsellable option they’ll do everything to keep him what can they such an important player for Newcastle with all due respect to new Newcastle an amazing Club amazing fan base they’ve been held back by regulations whether they like it or not whe we can debate the regulations for Newcastle United they’re not going to win a league title they’re not going maybe an FA Cup maybe an FA Cup that’s it at Newcastle United they are going in the right direction I mean in terms of what they’ve done over the last few years the profile of player they’re bringing in I mean what what how realistic for you is this signing what and how much would it take do you think I was telling Joe before this right I’ve been on the show a few times doing this for Man United and I feel like when I make my five players United should sign I always have to bear in mind like okay he is he plays Champions League football is he going to come to United or maybe he’s going to be scouted by Real Madrid does do we have a chance of signing him I was making my top five I felt like I was playing FM I thought I was playing career mode a I feel like with City had the amount of money the the luxury of playing under Pep Guardiola for a team that has won so many Premier League titles why wouldn’t a player want to come and sign for the I understand they’re in a tough situation but if Manchester City knock on the door to Newcastle and try and tempt Bruno gimar away you think he’s going to say no I would be massively shocked in terms of the profile I think he brings the physicality and the legs that City are desperately needing he’s a bit of an enforcer in there but don’t get it twisted Brar is a terrific footballer as well too passing long range I think I think this guy is as close as you can get in terms of allaround midfielder in the Premier League at the moment I think he would massively massive and by the way as well too can cover at six which I think is a massive thing for man City going forward of Roger yeah seven goals last season you’ve got him three let’s take him down most possession one and fouls one in the Premier League last season of any other player Bruno let’s do your three and four the other way around then oh this time is this the buyback Ian yeah it is the you have a buback CLA yeah this is my second time bringing up Liam DAP in like a few weeks on the show I’m such a big fan honestly I as well I think he’s been so impressive in his first season in the Premier League his finishing his Hold Up play and I look at Manchester City right this was a team a few years ago that for me me obviously brilliant first team uh Pep Guardiola I get that but you also look at the the strength and depth that they were able to call up from the bench mahz wasn’t starting all the games s at times was left out Jus was your backup Striker I look at City these days and I feel like the squad has got a lot thinner this idea that City have two 11s these days for me is a bit of a myth they have a 20-man squad and you look at the amount of injuries few guys go down their their squad looks pretty thin I think a backup or someone that can at least Challenge and compete with Howen for minutes or give him some some rest from here from time to time is huge and when you have a player like this from your Academy that can offer you Premier League experience already don’t make the same mistake you made with Co Palmer you have a guy like that from your Academy bring him back and yeah some some people might say would he want to be a backup for howand but I look at it as maner City would not have two of the best strikers in the Premier League and if you want to compete for the league that’s a huge thing do you think do you think it’s been a problem harland’s sort of over Alliance because it feels like every time I watch him if it’s not harand scoring goals city is struggling to score goals in that forward line and you obviously sold Julian Alvarez I think he’s got 12 or 13 goals at Atletico already this season like he’s so influential Harland and obviously he’s an amazing player one of the best strikers we’ve seen in the league but it feels like if he’s not scoring goals no one else city is struggling to score goals the issue is Alvarez could play with Harley he could drop deep he had a bit more Mobility it was sort of smaller Striker with a bigger Striker dap’s got a very similar profile to ER Harland I don’t see them playing together and happen no and he’s I I want I like I like Liam dap a lot he obviously came from the academy very very well uh highly rated as long as harland’s at the club he’s not going to start over 20 games he’s not going to start he might play 30 Games as a a sub his his his career will be curtailed if he does if he comes back to man I think you could have said similar about Cole Palmer when you sold him I think at the time the idea was is he ever going to get in over Phil foden is there a place for him with the de bruyas and the Bernardo silvas and but at the end of the day he’s your he was I mean he’s technically you have an option to bring him back but he’s not your player but you have control over his future for me I would much rather have Liam deap at the club and then if an offer comes for 70 million you sell him rather than just I don’t it up let’s see if he does well United Rich Paul pal was a bigger mistake though because he could have played right wing he could play left wing could have played anywhere and I I’ll definitely admit now it’s a massive massive mistake there’s only one Striker position really in a four you know what I mean I don’t think he compliments Highland starting with him at the moment I’d much rather in play ipswitch Massive Club I think they’ll stay in the Premier League I like Kieran McKenna a lot it’s more about do I see him I want to see these young players Excel I want to see him be the future of England you know after Harry Kane retires he could be the future of England he won’t get to that ceiling if he comes back to Man City straight away in my honest opinion let’s talk about who you’ve got then believe another player we’ve spoken about a lot on this show big still only 20 years of age I believe what a talent he came on against City when Brighton beat us one of the basically every Club to beat us this season um he set up the second goal the winning goal this guy’s physicality is outrageous on the half turn he can get get away from anyone defensively he’s out he’s outrageous as well he covers space so well he links up play he’s got a great pass uh this guy is unbelievable and at 20 years old I mean his quality he should be 28 years old doing what he’s doing he a world class midfielder in waiting and you look at how bright and picked players sometimes you can just lean lean on Brighton and say I think Kella is a good left back obviously he won the European Championship you look at obviously kaiso at Chelsea being unbelievable let’s just use Brighton they’ve just signed someone in from the French league from liil belor let’s just sign him why not it’s going to work it’s Brighton yeah yeah that’s true two decent shouts let’s sck them up and we go to your um oh here we right can I just say let’s just pre car of this because this next one the comments are going to go wild they’re going to go wild honestly when you sense your name through I near at the roof by the way this is a believable signing for booie to change man City’s fortunes who have you gone that you think Man City can realistically sign buo sacka to Manchester City everyone’s laughing I don’t get it we we all know premier league history I’m going to I’m going to talk about Manchester United for a couple of seconds Manchester United go and get leads United one of the biggest clubs in the country their best player Eric Canton they’re going to get Everton’s best player Wayne Rooney Newcastle United who they’re competing with in the ttle race every sing every single season in the ’90s Andy Cole for 8 million quid by the way which is a lot of money back then yeah van persy from Arsenal the list goes on and on Manchester United used to bully the transfer market with players that were on the cusp of winning the title but they never qu quite got there because man united were in the league at the same time with Ferguson sacka if he doesn’t win a league in the next couple of years he’ll be looking on a personal selfish level how do I get to Real Madrid or if I want to stay in England how do I play for Guardiola not M artetta it’s a genuine thing 150 million quid would be a massive massive temp temptation to him and his uh and his sort of agent in do you think there’s a time then that b Saka seriously thinks about leaving Arsenal to Manchester City he’s won one eing cup in five years how how we don’t live forever do we how long have we got he’s a young kid and he’s world class and his numbers in the Champions League are outrageous if City come in and bid 150 million quid in the summer we’ve already bought a load of their players we bought coo Tori back in the day we bought everyone Addy bayor you know Sam NZ Gail clichy why not another one yes your thoughts honestly yeah oh for this one wow you know the you’re unbelievable ask I don’t know what to say the man united examples I gave you with Andy Coen and Eric about van persy to men you’re right I think look there’s a few of those that that you you kind of threw in there like van persy for example arsenal were were on the decline at that point van persy was running out of contract Arsenal W in a threat to us Premier League wise the other on Ian they’re good shouts but realistically Saka moving to to to Manchester City I don’t see it man like I can’t fathom there so what you financially the money’s there but it was a different time back then wasn’t it you know United had fire power to go and spend and like you said I don’t think I think it’s more so Arsenal at that point were were weak financially they were still recovering from moving into the Emirates they were in a club that could offer their their their players instant success guaranteed and I know Arsenal at this current moment they’re not the best team in England per se but I think they would have more they’d be able to hold off they come he’s also 22 Booth I think that’s like 23 a big element to this like he’s so young he’s got TI to but a lot of the players you’re talking about we not 23 year olds when they assigned for Manchester United manchest United were going out there and taking ready made stars like Van Percy was Prime absolute prime it if Saka Arenal let if Arsenal lets Saka go to Manchester City no London I think would Revolt the entire city there there’ be rights on the streets man yeah um so who have you got you haven’t got sack on I’ve got Muhammad Sal I’m kid I’ve got rers I’ve got rers from AC Milan a little bit uh more realistic I think the his choice huh the his choice I think if you watch him this year for Milan over the last two years to be honest I thought the Euros he was pretty impressive for the Dutch as well too I think this is one of those again more well-rounded midfielders in in Europe at the moment I think you look at what he’s done for Milan this season for me he’s been one of their top three players alongside with pulic who’s had a great campaign with them Leo has really found some form recently as well too and I look at what he kind of brings he’s a tall guy but very very good feet eye for goal brilliant passer of the ball for me at the moment I look at when City signed ilkai gundan a few seasons ago I think he’s a he’s a bit different but it’s a similar profile in terms of that as well too and they need bodies in that midfield for me City need a big overhaul this summer and I think the Midfield is the main target I would I would be looking to overhaul okay stick them up let’s get your number one so the most important signing thought sacka was to Sak is going to cause a meltdown booy I think this is even more Ro C Palmer why why not I don’t get it well you you’ve just man united didn’t win a league title for many many years they were absolutely bang average right they go and get Paul Pogba back from Juventus they do a whole remember the the video with stormy they got stormy to do a little to do a little rap he won absolutely nothing Europa League and then he went back to Juventus a ter transfer a f all I’m saying is man united were able to lure someone who was the best player in Italian football arguably bring him back for 100 million pounds all I’m saying is if Chelsea don’t win the league title this season or next season which could happen with Liverpool doing so well with slot okay he’ll be thinking on a selfish level how do I get back to winning Premier League titles and City might be a genuine uh option for him to do that also Chelsea they might have Financial issues that you know they might have issues where they might need to sell certain players so you realistically can see a day when Co Palmer goes back to Man City players always go it happens all the time in football players do like you know going back it is a thing in football players 10e contracts the length of Palmer’s contract protects him to an absolutely ridiculous degree from any sort of transfer in the future and when you talk about League title competition right now Chelsea are above you in the pecking order in the Premier League yeah but they’ve not won a league title in seven years if they I don’t think they’re going to win it this year I don’t think they they’re going to win it next season I think city with a lot of these players that we’re talking about if if one of them or two of them came in I think City favorites to win the Prem League next season over Chelsea and suddenly I love the conf this guy’s so good he’s he’s arguably the best player in World football in terms of technical ability he’s playing for side just scra think do you think there’s any sort of issue then that you know you sold him he does does he want to go back no look I’m not I can’t debate the facts he loves playing for Chelsea he’s the main man there Chelsea a great Club the fans are fantastic European Champions right of course he does all I’m saying is football changes after a couple of years if he’s been there three or four years he’s won absolutely nothing theoretically speaking he might look at a project that is greater than Chelsea not saying City might not be that project but he has to be winning League T he’s so good he has to be winning League titles as soon as possible are you going with got him Florian vers another top player yeah yeah look I I I think this number 10 area is definitely an interesting one we talk about Kevin De bruyne the legs are starting to leave at the moment he is on the wrong side of 30 let’s be real Kevin De bruna’s time in the Premier League doesn’t have much longer in it and I think City desperately need to start looking at that area how can we exist post Kevin De bruy and don’t let him just leave and you have nothing there and I think the natural successor for the longest time appeared to be a Phil foden and obviously he had that incredible season last year I think a lot of people revised last season for Phil foden because this year hasn’t been that great let’s get let’s not get it twisted here Phil for had an incredible campaign last season but the more I watch Manchester City these days is I’m watching the the the relationship the chemistry between foden and howand and I’m not talking about how they are as mates whatever I’m talking about how they operate as footballers and this is just me I don’t really think they fit each other that well I don’t think foden is your natural Creator like a David Sila or Kevin De bruyne that howand really needs because howand you have to feed him chances you have to be playing him in behind you have to be putting balls into the box for him foden for me is a player that operates extremely well in that number 10 role but he likes to get shots off he likes to be closer to goal and I look at the two of them how they operate if hen is going to be your main guy going forward I think that he I think you need to find a guy that maybe suits him a little better in my opinion stick him up then I think that’s a good shout you know FL and versus I can see potentially making that switch though there is confirmation of the five players that man city need to signs turn their fortunes around let us know what you think particularly about booy’s one and two pick Palmer and sacka let’s us know what you think at home
