So today we’re going to be doing a film analysis on the Detroit Lions this is my favorite offense to watch in the league for this very reason take a look at this trick play Gibbs falls down gof stumbles Al lineman yells out fumble and then it’s Sam lorta in the back corner of the end zone for the touchdown just look at how this fake draws in the defense just completely confuses them the linebacker is just look he just gets completely fooled uh and yeah that zone coverage just gets man that’s a hell of a play right there whoever would have thought that would even be possible a team faking a fumble like that only Ben Johnson right here another play action fake roll to your left that’s actually what Dan Skipper the 6 foot N Tackle and everyone just swings to the right here this is an amazing fake it clearly looks like it’s going to be a handoff to jir Gibbs the defense falls for the bait and then you have an offensive lineman that just sort of leaks out pretends he’s going to block and then just gets to the corner once again and then hits the defensive back I don’t know why he would even bother trying to hit a 6’9 man it’s not going to go your favor got J and motion to the right you know its own coverage nobody followed him St Brown gets over the top of the defense G beautiful ball right over the outstretched arms of number what 43 right there and then St Brown has enough speed to get there gets in pretty easily that’s just an amazing ball good route too love that only the Lions pull that off man it’s just a thing of beauty back against the Bears leaport to the left see what they do right here it’s gonna be a play action fake oh they got J J Mo look at that speed just oh my goodness he’s just running straight the defense doesn’t account for how fast he is that happens a good amount in football you just don’t understand how fast that guy truly is until this happens where know Jameson Williams I mean he ran a 4-3 in college he was one of the fastest receivers I’ve ever seen coming out of the draft remember the Lions of course moved up to get him for this very reason G realizes that he knows how fast is he just throws it up to him and this is a touchdown this went for I think 80 yards right there I mean that’s just a thing of beauty the play action fake sells it as well because the lions run the ball a ton and they’re so good at it so you have to account for that and right here let’s just throw a screen pass good blocking all around St Brown Shifty and strong enough to get in there very simple the Lions love to do this just get it into your playmaker’s hands into the open space and go from there but this is just all the blocking I mean look at that everybody has a jersey everybody’s tugging pushing great job by the TR that’s why I love watching them play everyone blocks you have to block it you’re not getting out there St Brown in motion G just finds Jameson Williams who sees a soft spot and then gets to the outside because of his speed that’s just simply realizing its own golf knowing right to where to go with the ball of course to what’s going to give him the most amount of yards St Brown draws some attention everyone’s focused on of course the the quick throw and then J again just right there I mean in of course of course where no one’s at so that’s just good recognition right there to know where to go pretty simple play but it turns out to be a huge gain another guy motional let’s hand it to Gibbs this time for an outside run and that’s just a good job by jir Gibbs as well I mean he’s got so much speed off of the the line his burst is just different that’s why I love watching him run the ball and here’s gof right here going through his progressions oh he’s actually G to oh looked like he was going to take off but he’s going to find St Brown wise decision there he’s going to pick up a lot more yardage if you were to just take off he probably would have got five or six yards but you know just go out there and get a good amount and here let’s see the formation got St Brown to the right by himself it’s going to be looked like a hand off but no it’s actually another trick play and this is Jameson Williams getting into open space I mean all of these different concepts are so confusing for the defense you’ve got guys moving right here you’ve got a tight end in front of Gibbs as an extra blocker motion St Brown and then of course the play action fake and everyone’s just confused yeah there you go St Brown is wide open the Lions they make it look so easy but it’s the farthest thing from Easy this is just a screen pass G no Gibbs isn’t even touched Jim here Gibbs is not even touched until he’s look like how many yards does he go right here without even being hit I mean look at this guys let’s count right here I mean he’s 10 yards down the field 15 yards 20 yards plus and finally he’s tackled I mean the blocking just the deception I mean everything about that’s beautiful it’s just handed off the Gibbs right here look how quick he is and he nearly scores he’s going to be inches short again not even touched I mean this is just all blocking but this is also gibbs’s just speed I mean look at this he just looks like he’s shot out of a cannon I don’t know if there’s another running back in football maybe Chase Brown that’s a not I don’t even think so there isn’t another running back that goes that quickly you see gof he’s on they’re on the road so it’s very loud here making sure everyone’s on the same page it’s a handoff Gibbs he gets in I think that was his third straight maybe I think it might have been his fourth straight carry in a row he finally gets in this is the one knock against jir Gibbs not to say he isn’t tough because he’s very tough but David Montgomery this is this is David Montgomery time where he’s going to get in it takes uh Gibbs a couple of times but he does get in that’s all that matters and then we’ll see right here you’ve got two receivers on the right they’re going to motion leor there and look at this man oh go just finds the soft spot again that’s Jameson Williams Zone coverage good luck being able to stop that St Brown probably top five receiver in the game Jameson Williams Elite Speed lto so Dynamic Gibbs is out there as well and then GF so accurate knows where to go with the ball it’s all about just quickness right there you’ve got to realize two seconds two and a half seconds where to go with the ball and then Gibbs just makes one cut and he’s up the field for a huge gain and once again this is it just gets to the outside break two tackles that right there that’s Jaylen Johnson I mean that’s an all pro Corner that just has no chance in the open field wrap him up I mean look at this one more time boom that’s a defensive tackle yeah come on man you’re going to have to do more than an armed tackle to bring down jir Gibbs and then we’ve got the Buffalo game this was probably the best game of the year in my opinion maybe it was the Rams in the bills maybe this was second I don’t know but this is just a screen pass once again you can see Gibbs how just difficult is to bring him down because he’s so strong and he’s so fast you can’t just do an arm tackle on him man it’s not going to be good enough here’s St Brown in motion once again and then Gibbs is quickly to the right in the flat it’s a screen pass look look look at this design I mean this this is why I love watching the Lions football this is why I stay up all night just watching this film man I finally got access to it so I’m excited I mean the designs on this but it’s also the execution and just the playmakers that Ben Johnson has at his disposal just Elite level Talent this is of course a run it looked like honestly it just looks like things that it isn’t and the defense was so slow to be able to react and that’s just Eed easy yardage right there and of course you’ve got extra tight ends out there extra blockers and it’s going to be a handoff to Gibbs and he’s going to shoot right to the outside he’s so fast no one’s catching him of course finally a Defender runs him out of bounds but that’s an easy first down lions are at Midfield let’s see what they’ve got right here they’re going to motion leor their Quick Pitch and then it’s a trick play are you kidding me Jared G fires down the field for the first down I mean everybody on that defensive line thought that it was a pitch to the outs side and it ends up going the opposite way to St Brown for the first down Detroit is getting creative of course they had a couple of stalls to start this game they realize that hey look we’ve got to do something to spark the team and they they execute it too a lot of teams when they’re down 14 nothing or they need some momentum to call up a trick play that they have stashed but very rarely do they execute it like that and then here is just Jamir Gibbs I mean I’m I have bad vision and I’m looking at a small screen but I know that’s jir Gibbs because of how quickly he just gets down the field it’s just like 43 speed out of the back field like guys look at this it’s just boom one cut oh my God and then he just lowers his shoulder I mean h how many running backs in football can do that there’s just not many man you couldn’t even count on one hand and jir Gibbs is just in a tier of his own here’s goff’s gonna looked like he was going to scramble but he was just trying to buy time of course to let somebody get open and then he realizes that’s Tim Patrick good to see him back and healthy had a couple of season ending surgeries this is just golf buying time and realizing that hey look I’ve got a guy in the flat he’s not covered this was actually good defense this was very very good defense they had Goff until they didn’t it just look look at him get out of the pocket right here he’s going to snap the ball you see looking through his progressions nobody’s open let’s just buy some time nobody’s still open hey look I got a guy in the flat T Patrick and then look at this move just Superman dive reach out for the touchdown this is just awesome the Lions did not win this game I get it but they dropped over 40 the Lions dropped over 40 in this game and they lost the defense is down like 15 guys if the Lions have one more injury they might have to call me up to go out there and a start defensively and that would not go well cuz I’m 160 pounds so that’d be skinny for a corner but obviously I’m joking but still this Li’s defense is just decimated with injuries and then they lose David Montgomery their stud running back but that’s it guys that’s really it St Brown look at this first down signal man it’s so funny love it let’s just actually finish off this drive let’s see what Go’s got for me oh pressure coming just bouncing around like a pinball machine and it gets to the outside I don’t see golf run very often but good job there going out and picking up those yardage just continuing the drive and beautiful ball right there goof does not get enough credit man everyone says it’s the system it’s the weapons but Jared go you just put an average Quarterback everyone thinks that just any QB could be able to come in here and run this system the reason why it’s performed at such a high level is because of Jared Goff he deserves more credit he should be in the MP conversation he’s not going to win it but again I mean the numbers he has the record the success I mean the biggest trade that the Lions have ever made and I think they ever will make was sending Matthew Stafford over to the Rams the Rams certainly was a win-win trade because they got a Super Bowl but the Lions they end up getting Jameson Williams jir Gibbs Sam leapa Josh pasel who made a big time play in that Bears game they also got Mela Fu who’s pretty good he’s hurt right now broadrick Martin and of course Jared gof just incredible stuff by the general manager Brad Holmes of this team
