[Music] [Music] afternoon folks Welcome to The View for the match day review of leag United’s 4-nil win against Oxford we’re gone a bit earlier today than we normally do that’s due to the fact that it’s the 23rd of December I said i’ do it tonight but I did real I forgot that I’m actually going to the goway for Christmas so won’t we bringing this off with me this year so wanted get it out and get it done early so at least there’s a review here for everyone who wants it and I’m delighted to be joined by Danny from not another leads podcast I have a little chitchat and probably this is the last live stream Before Christmas there will be a match Day preview that will go out tomorrow again it’ll be us two and that’ll be a pre- recording you can check that out tomorrow and there will be some form of a news video in the morning as well shorten version but there will be something out tomorrow before we head off but Danny first things first how are you doing M how’s things I’m good mate thank you very much uh Merry Christmas to you and all your viewers and um yeah I’m uh it’s not even Christmas yet but I’m all I’m nearly Christmas the out uh and I think I’ve got shares in Bailey’s now I believe I’ve had that much you know oh lovely what about you are you okay I’m avoiding Bailey’s we don’t get along with each other I mean two Irish things should go quite well together but it doesn’t it doesn’t mix particularly well so no outside of that I’m fine me fine did we did our first watch Along on Saturday over on and big up which is a different live streaming platform form um and it went okay I think it I think it went okay the people that came over for watch there’s only about 20 25 people but those who came over I think we nice chat I was able to bring a couple of people on screen as well and have conversations with them during halftime and a fulltime because the platform allows it so yeah all good there and then just getting ready for for first Christmas as a married man I suppose Danny so myself and Jess had off to go away tomorrow there for a couple days and they back with her folks but um but yeah looking forward to it all chaos in in your household is it yeah yeah uh you know I’m not I’m not busy I’ve not had time to do anything honestly go go go with the kids you know that kind of stuff but uh and for NP as well it’s uh all all memes and jokes I suppose you know how we goes memes and puns I do I love it I always love it couple people in chat this morning or this afternoon this morning Jesus wake up jar Danny H talksport in the chat smash the likes yeah give a couple of likes if you’d like on the way out or the way in whatever way you want to do it John B joining in hi all just saw this by chance put the heat in on to celebrate sit down grab a cup of coffee have a chat mate Luke is in the house as well Michael is this live yes this is live live yes yes if it’s not live I’ll always have a banner across the bottom saying this is a pre-record but yeah yeah we are we are we are live and lad’s having a CH Danny we had a good result of the weekend but we shouldn’t be surprised leads at home in Ellen row doing what leads do at home in Ellen Road 10 wins in Ellen road so far this season nine in a row I think the record is actually 15 I thought it was 14 think the 15 of wins in a row is fif wins in a row is 15 a really good chance that lead could actually do it looking at the games coming up but all around pretty decent performance Danny what were your thoughts on the game yeah I thought it was pretty it should have been and I expected as much a routine drubbing for us because that their squad’s nowhere near ours in the terms of ability or price and uh I I did expect you know I thought 4-0 was flattering in the end but it it’s what I expect uh we do we did play some good stuff a few shaky moments where the uh rodon let his man go and he got him behind and he thankfully skyed it somehow um but other than that mate um it were a it’s what I expected we should have done yeah routine enough I think that the only moment was that moment in the first half where I think it was cumings got inside and went one V1 with Mel and you thought here we go one on now he’ll Bend this into the far corner and he luckily for lead Sky it over to bar couple of times and I know people say this a win is a win focus on the win but as myself and Loy said when we’re doing the breakdown it’s important to look at the parts that maybe are knocking on the door the issues that could potentially come back to haunt you in the future if you’re not if you’re not aware of them lead’s got cut out a couple of times with balls over at the corners into where the fullbacks should be they had a couple of chances in the first half they had one or two opportunities in the second half as well where they exposed leads gaps in the fullback area which is isolating the center backs and causing stroke to get dragged out of position and and road on in the first half was the one that got dragged out of position something for leads just to keep an eye on especially going into an away game Danny yeah yeah of course I mean especially you know when if some of our players have got knocks as well and they turn too quick for me I know this is been a bit silly but oh yeah Herbert I I know but it I slipped into the contract I signed where they owe me some air time so it’s it’s therefore fault for not reading the fine print but yeah it’s uh it’s something we need to keep as eye on especially and you know the away form speaks for itself unfortunately and hopefully we can turn that corner come this Christmas uh but I’m a firm believer J what about you I am I am I still think we go up I I don’t know if we go up as Champions I think the away record will be absolutely vital to that that has to improve that’s that’s something to talk about for the preview for The Stoke game but in terms of playing Len I think at this stage there’s definitely a difference we myself and lucky when we did the breakdown we didn’t just look at the goals that leads conceded against Preston or the goal they conceded against Preston we also looked at the way form we looked at the The Narrative around teams sit in against us teams put in Low Blocks they don’t come out and play and what we actually found was when leads go away from home teams actually have more chances against leads than they do when leads are at home and leads create less chances away from home than they do at home so going into the home game I fully expected to see leads go at them and dominate them and especially with the narrative around you way for in the last couple of weeks I thought we’d get a statement performance in a statement result I think at one n and half time we all kind of thought maybe we’ll see lead sitting back they did a little bit for after they scored but I think you saw Daniel farus send them out in the second half and go time to go LS and and I love it when he takes the the Reigns loosens the Reigns on the on the players and lets them go because they’re so exciting to watch going forward again all the goals Danny coming from the wide men or wide men involvement you’ve got and and also Joel Peru doesn’t score in this game but is very very very involved in two of the goals the first goal that Dan James scores and comes from Joel pero holding the ball up and linking the play with with Manor Solomon Solomon goes through squares the ball down James gets a tap in they almost did it two minutes earlier than that as well yeah scores from Brendan arenson assist then Brendan arenson scores from Manor Solomon assist and then Manor Solomon scores from a from a a Joel pero assist so all the way guys and our number nine chipping in in some way shape or form but they’ve been incredibly PR lead so far this season the white players Dan and the source of all of our goals and great to see the amount of involvement there from nearly the entire front row and then you see willly nanto come on the park with larg ramazan and both of them have a goal as well and try and get a couple of goals so that’s that’s massively positive those white players have been phenomenal for us this year oh yeah 100% right and it’s they’re probably the key to the way we play as well and the fact that we can bring on nonto Raman is you know or even Solomon or Dan James you know when it’s time to change it was embarrassment of riches at this level uh and you see like Solomon for me I thought he was that was probably the best game after seen him play um and his finish I thought as a as a striker of satday League of many years uh that is a hard angle to score because the keepers you know got his his angles covered and it just it goes with that much Pace that it it goes you don’t have time to react and I think that’s a great finish the pass for Dan James was brilliant from Solomon just perfectly placed all he has to do he’s put it back of the net which he does um I even thought arenson I thought his close control was great great is passing the cut back for jayen ble ble finish uh was Sublime for me and uh yeah put you talk about perau there a lot of people were sort of you know not I think sort of people that have agendas against perau I mean because that perau versus J debate will go on forever in my opinion until we get someone else in but yeah the why players are key and I think that’s how farker likes to play uh what I will say is um if what scares me is the the chances of them equalizing and we know what happens when a teams equalize against us just before or just after the the halftime the crowd can get on the back of the team which I think makes them nervous if I’m their manager and it’s only one nil I’m telling my Oxford players right get one more get an equalizer and these will crumble these will fold the crowd will get on the backs and we’ll take advantage and that almost happened there a few chances but yeah other than that you know F God we didn’t I mean doing the watch Along on Saturday was probably the first time I’ve been talking out loud watching the game cons consistently and a couple of things have stuck in my head as a result of of kind of saying them more often and one of them was leads very clearly in the last five minutes of the first half backed off completely like they they they just didn’t engage the football at all there was no press everyone dropped we all dropped into our own half and we kind of gave Ox for the ball into point that you’re making there if you’re a manager com up against leads this has happened quite a lot of in leads games I would be saying to my team last five minutes of the first half put the burners on get at them because they will start to wind down leading into halftime they’re starting to get ready and don’t know it’s a bit of complacency we get away with it against these lesser sides but we have conceded just before halftime or just after halftime and it’s these cold spells that we have in these games and far talked about UA form saying that we’re starting too slowly and I would argue that in some games where we’re finishing each half too early before the whistle is gone and that gives teams an opportunity to get back into it obviously not Oxford but something that we should be keeping an eye on against the better sides as the season goes on exactly M exactly and this is what we’re as as lead’s fans we do expect us to wipe the floor with these teams but that’s on paper all it takes is that one moment for them to equalize I me look at Portsmouth that game we expected to beat them massively but they came back a d three all yeah it’s yeah I just think we need to it’s one of the little areas to be mindful of because if anyone is going to get a joy it’s going to be in behind our fullbacks on a Counterattack or it’s GNA be the last five minutes or first five minutes of of a half I think they’re just the ones yeah but when you look at the mid blocks of that that game or the mid portions of that game first half and second half it’s probably the most dominant performances I’ve seen Leeds have Leeds could very easily have put seven or eight goals past them Raman has two very good chances Dan James is another good chance as well P’s got a chance the first half that he doesn’t take I mean they’re all scorable chances leads are only listed as having five big chances but I think from watching my response was leads probably had eight or nine opportunities to score decent efforts to score in that game and could have put a really big number on on the board but four is okay Danny isn’t it you take the three points in the game like that and you take four goals is pretty comprehensive and you move on and end of the day points win your games because that’s how it works I don’t know just said that points are more important on the board do you know what I mean then it doesn’t matter if you win 6 7 8 n 10 nil we still get three points for how many we score but yeah we I think what we want is we don’t want that Jeopardy in a game you know I’d rather win 4-nil if I could every week but I’d take a one nil I just want points on the board I want to get out of this league I want to play the heights of the Champions League which we’re going to win in 2030 I’ve got I’ve just written it down just he heard it here first but you know it’s you know and I can see why people are being complacent in terms of it’s not exciting but I was trying to say this last night where um my understanding of trying to be a low block is to move the ball fast more Tempo and create them spaces as they all shift but if you’re up against the tight defensive unit worked all week on it it’s hard to you can’t just cross it into the box because they’ve got 6.5 Defenders and we’ve got will willing onto that needs a step ladder to get up to these fellas but you know there a moments though dny where I think saw like moment the first half where we’ve been on the left hand side quite a bit second half and it was Square back to Joe Joe Rothwell and he just opens the body up looks across the park and just smashes a diag right over everyone’s head straight onto down James feet and you’re like there that’s exactly where you want to get it you pulled them all over to one side created a pocket of space over here now get it over there quickly and you’ve got to run in the back and Dan James got a bit of Joy with that staying as wide as he could as long as he could trying to force them into stretching themselves and it worked and it worked really really well but you we have a different opposition against F weekend Al not a great side but it’s an away game as well Danny and what do you want to see from Leeds going into this game and and how would you view the first half of the Season Sally as we come into the Christmas period uh the first half of that I’ll say it depends if it’s cold and wet and we’re away do you know what I mean it’s Stoke isn’t it boxing day yeah yeah if it’s cold and wet midweek you know what I mean but looking at their for their last few games I think they have they drawn seven in the last eight or something stupid they haven’t won an eight they W one an eight so you know what’s coming it’s just written in the stars hopefully Christmas isn’t ruined and uh you know I what have to go lay down in a cold D room but if if it a draw is better than what happened last year for me uh if we get out of stoke with have a point then so be it but it’s not acceptable it needs to be three points I’m expecting uh Edo to start uh I don’t sorry I don’t want to go too deep because I know we’re doing the preview um I expect him to start Joseph and start aadu but I think it should be a routine another routine one two nil for me um and yeah what about you are you you uh I want to see a better performance a faster performance from Leeds I think if we get that everyone’s sicking me same tempo but I think if we get a faster performance from Leeds I mean it’s it’s not a bad weekend Danny if you look at it you’ve got Sheffield United playing Burnley so they’re dropping points someone’s dropping points there as well you look at Sunland their way to Blackburn we know that’s not going to be a straightforward game you know everyone picked up points the weekend this is a good opportunity for leads to try and Claw back that three-point Gap to Sheffield United Burnley and Sun are getting a little bit too close only two points between the three of us so good opportunity for lead just to try and step it up again and open a little bit of a gap so I just want to see Leeds go with a with a a faster approach to the game and get at them early get the first goal and then we can all calm down relax and see how we go but yeah we’ll get into that a bit more detail with the the preview which will be out tomorrow evening which will be a pre-record just in case you are watching it it’ll be up as live but it’ll be a pre-record mostly because YouTube doesn’t like live and video videoos going out the same day more than one so we try and split it up that way Danny one other thing I want to ask you before I wrap it up was Leeds got some news today they finally nine days after the incident Leeds finally received their apology letter from the pgmol for Busby’s H performance in the pring game and they specifically C out his lack of action relating to Whiteman which would have resulted in a dismissal nice to get it what are your thoughts on all of that uh I think they’ve hung it in the toilets to use it as toilet paper CU it’s it’s just a useless bit of paper do you know what I mean it doesn’t mean saying sorry it doesn’t mean anything to me if you’re going to do something do retrospective action ban him for a game if if it were a red card treat it as such but that’s just my opinion you know I might be overly harsh but if it if if it were a read on the day why is he not being charged with a a red card I don’t know people have different opinions but if they’re just going to if they’re just going to say oh sorry it didn’t mean it doesn’t mean anything to me that but um it should have been dealt with obviously I understand referees cat eat everything at the same time and they’re human I get that that’s the beauty of football it’s not we’re not FIFA football robots you know but for me if they’re going to if it if they’re going to say sorry just even just get starting on a yellow card the next the next game or something like that you know what I mean or give him a one game ban or a three game ban that’s just my my opinion what about you man are you uh if they if they viewed that it could have been a straight red retrospective action Maybe apology letters mean nothing as you say you just stack them at the rest of them and that’s all there is to it but um yeah it it won that for me was like I think we all saw coming the referee’s position on that one and I think he bottled it and I think it’s okay to say it in this circumstances I don’t like hanging them out to dry for every decision because the speed at which a game moves that you miss things I have my own issues with referees when I was a coach and a player but in a professional game the speed that it moves that but in this particular one he had a very good angle he was standing right in front of it and you could see by his facial expression and thead needs player reaction he knew he got it wrong and he and he couldn’t change it then and then for the next 15 minutes after that I think his head was gone and there was just cards flying everywhere so yeah I it was his first time getting that kind of a game I think it was probably too big for him I think he wasn’t ready for it I think that there there maybe he needs to be demoted into League two for a couple of weeks to try our league one has a bit of a punishment for it but um I don’t think Leed should be hoping for cards to help them in a game like that I think Le need look after their own job and go win the game regardless against 11 or 10 men just go and win the game and then talk about it afterwards but I think it was a very big moment at at an important time of the game and had that second yellow gone I think it’s a very different looking game as a results they take him off at half time they’re still 11 men they have a fresh player there who can kick players up in the air again and that’s what they did so it did impact in one sense yeah lot the Sub sub didn’t as well they know what they were doing the sub didn’t so they knew what yeah but is the only other that came out this week H does it B do you think the pitch quality of your way games is affecting us um no because it’s the same for them I know they probably played on it more but um you know I I believe it or not I played at the weekend as well and it were like the wind the Gil force wind had their shirt on because it was like running against someone pushing me back and it was just crazy I I I kicked the ball and it went over me back towards my own net so you know conditions were okay um it were windy but it the same for them in it as it is for us and we can’t all play on carpets no I think the pitch dimensions are pretty much Universal at this stage across the board I think everyone’s play playing on the same width and length pretty much across the board so yeah yeah Dr Cox J many red cards did you receive as as a player quite a few yeah I was a melty player I was a mounty manager as well don’t know what I’m saying I got a couple of red cards as a manager as well a couple of suspensions couple of touch line BS as a manager got one as a coach um but yeah I got quite a few red cards um as a player not always for failing people more often they’re not second yellow for having a chat with the referee when I shouldn’t have been having a chat with the referee so yeah yeah driving managers and my my teammates absolutely nut but yeah I would yeah it happens right Danny I wrap this up good three points yeah yeah deserve three points everyone had fun and I’m sure they had a nice uh baile is in mince pie after the game yeah well something warm anyway because it was Bloody cold the weekend’s bloody cold again today folks we’re wrapping up the review there but there will be a preview for the St game out tomorrow there will be a warm-up that is been recorded today as well that will go out on boxing day morning as I pre-record again it’ll go as a video so there’s still some content this week and there will be a news video in
