welcome everyone to the chef United Way match preview now this one this is a big one surprise of the season so far Sunderland visit Braman on Friday night under the lights and it is a topof the table [Music] Clash yes welcome everyone so United got a really comfortable 3-0 victory against Oxford United in our last game and I would argue this was United’s most convincing win of the season going forwards we were genuinely exciting hmer was stealing the show with some lovely passing but O’Hare got his first goal for the blades RX sake and Campbell both scored again because they just can’t stop at the minute and it felt like everything was just clicking into gear Oxford don’t get me wrong weren’t the most challenging of opposition they’ve had some s themselves particularly around injuries and their away form and I think when we look back on it the two divisions that those teams were apart last season probably feels very appropriate and we we might be two divisions apart again very soon who knows but we still had to be professional we still had to put in a strong performance and it’s now more than 10 hours since we last conceded at Braman in fact Michael Cooper has still never conceded a goal at Braman that is a ridiculous record bearing in mind it’s the end of November and he joined us in the summer transfer window and he’s been number one all the way through what a defensive record we’ve got at the moment whereas Sunderland they labored to a nil-nil draw at home to West Brom don’t get me wrong that’s not a bad result that’s a pretty good result you would say on most days but that’s now five draws in a row for the black cats they went I think Five Points clear at the top of the table just before the last International break they are now down to fourth as a broke into the squad of such a keyman it’s a massive loss both for him personally but for us as a club as well we wish him a huge speedy recovery and I for one cannot wait to see him once again wearing red and white probably wearing that Captain’s arm band once again for United let’s just hope he’s back sooner than later and back to his best anel of course is still suspended for this one following his red card against Centre and we’ve seen no sign of the returns of either Kea Moore or Rian Brewster although we would hope they would maybe make the bench for this one I think it’d be a massive boost to the club if we can get them fit and back on the grass as we all used to say let me know what you think let me know what your predicted team news is for this one I’m going to go with a pretty predictable Sheffield United starting 11 it’ll be Michael Cooper in goal I think this one despite an impressive showing from CI don’t get me wrong he was great against Oxford I think I expect and would want Gilchrist back on that right side just to make sure we’re a bit more secure just to keep us there we know they’ve got attacking threat so let’s have Gilchrist there just to shore us up and make sure Patrick Roberts isn’t getting any luck Harry sutor and Jack Robinson they’re the obvious picks in the center of that defense and again despite being rested midweek I think Harrison burough comes back in on the left pek and vinza First Choice pairing for me peek has slaughtered in very very nicely in these last two games I think he’s looked like he really belongs at the level really belongs in the center of our Midfield and that is great to see because I was a little bit worried about how big the drop off was was going to be but it was also fantastic to see Tom Davis against Oxford it was only a couple of minutes at the end of the game but seeing him being able to get out there back on the pitch is fantastic and hopefully we’ll be able to see a lot more of him sooner rather than later it’d be great if you can get sort of half an hour in this one to really start to establish himself back as part of the Sheffield United Squad the front four I you know I referenced it before these pick themselves because they’ve been fantastic since the international break these last two games scoring five goals all of them split between them it’s very obvious it’s got to be jezra sake C moare Gus harmer and then big man up front Tyrese Campbell five goals in his last six games there’s just no stopping him as I say let me know what team you would pick in the against no last weekend sorry we had an absolute load of suspensions and injuries I think we had six first team players out in total it was Trey Hume Patrick Roberts you also had Dennis seren job had been suspended there was a a load of injuries but we’ve had a game since then we drew nil nil against West Brom which was absolutely riveting uh not but we had a few of those players that came back you had Trey Hume came back in he came back in at left back Al he predominantly plays at right back job returned from suspension um on top of that as well you had players on the bench that wed Leo yela Naz ring players who don’t really play too often but they were missing against mil wall and not part of the squad which would have been quite handy I suppose at the time there was no place back for Dennis cin yesterday he was still missing the game on top of that there’s still no rain mundle he looks like it’s going to be out for a little while and there’s also Alan Brown who’s going to be injured for for quite a bit if the rumors that he has broken a bone in his leg are correct we’ve drew our last five games the last five games have had um accentuating circumstances shall we say as I said before the m game a lot of players were out last night we completely dominated against West Brom but just didn’t have the killer touch the Finishing Touch um the game against qbr right at the start of this kind of sticky run we went down to 10 men after about 55 minutes when job got sent off centry very frustrating two n up at halftime conceded two goals and and that kind of killed us a little bit cuz it would feel a little bit better if we had two more points in the bag of course that put us level on points worth yourself I’m not too sure on the goal difference but it would look a little healthier for us and it wouldn’t feel like five games without a win you could definitely view it as 10 games unbeaten but on the whole Sunland had a really positive start of the Season perhaps it shouldn’t be that surprising that we started as well as we did um although I’ve got to be honest and say I didn’t expect us to be around the top two up until November we only dropped out of it as of um last night I’m speaking to you on on Wednesday at the moment but this is where the real asset test comes in because Sunland are a really good team in terms of our stting 11 when everyone’s fit I think it’s a really good start 11 that could push for automatic promotion you know we’ve seen the evidence of the fact that we can do that we’ve played Burnley we’ve played leads the only team we haven’t really faced out of the top half is the top six should I say is yourself and in most cases we’ve came through you know absolutely fine we’ve looked the better team and and we’ve maybe deserved the win each time especially Burnley and I think we were thoroughly deserve another draw against lead United as well the squad’s been stretched a little bit here we’re getting some plays back but our Squad is probably not as strong as yourselves it’s probably not as strong as leads and over the course of a a championship season that can be really really important so Friday’s games it’s pressurizing for us I think um it’s a difficult game probably the most difficult of the season on paper so getting the results if that means that we have six throws in a row and get a point at shiff United I’ll be honest I’ll snap your hands off for that hopefully we can do it you know hopefully it’s us and yourselves and and not leads um I’m sure you’ll agree with me on that as well on top of that but you know long season to go so far so good could have been a little bit better in recent weeks but I’m not going to complain too much as a Sunland fan I’m used to not having you know a little to complain about I’m used to having quite a lot to complain about and thus far it’s not been too bad very happy thank you so much for that game I think it’s going to be a really difficult game hearing about some of the players they’ve got coming back let’s hope that uh let’s hope that maybe they’re a bit Rusty let’s look at it that way now the referee for this game is going to be Gavin Ward he’s R 12 games so far this season and has issued a very high 4.18 yellow cards per game he also isn’t against giving a penalty he’s given four so far this season he’s given a penalty in both of his last two games maybe he’s got it out of his system let’s let’s hope he’s got it out of his system there’s been a home win in 58.3% of the games he’s refed so far this season there’s only been one away win am I clutching at draws to try and say that we’ve got a good chance yes yes I am now this is a ref who was controversial earlier this season in Sheffield Wednesday fans were absolutely fuming with his performance when they lost 2-1 away at Luton Luton got a somewhat dodgy penalty which also saw Wednesday Defender sent off he then also let Luen score their winner despite a pretty obvious handall in the buildup so they were not particularly pleased with his performance or the quality that he was bringing to the game his last Sunderland game that he refed was on the final day of last season where they actually lost at home to our neighbor neighbor neighbor City Rivals shall we say over his career is ref united six times we have won three lost one and drawn two so there’s a few things there that point in a positive direction But ultimately they mean nothing at all I’m talking about a referee let’s talk about the game we now come to our player connections and this is brought to you of course a club Legend at Sheffield United and he actually first joined United on loan from Sunderland in 20123 some fans will remember he just played one game before returning to Sunderland and then he obviously then joined United for his legendary status in 20 1718 I have not written that down and I can’t remember the number I think it’s 1718 he actually didn’t play for Sunderland he never played for them but given we had him on loan from them this feels like one and I’m counting it this is a definite player connection that I’ve remembered um other players niron nosworthy now this one brings me out in like a Vietnam flashback cold shiver um he he recently I I was playing a game with some of my friends who support different football teams and we decided to do a game of what’s the worst 11 of players that’s ever played for your Club I put nairon nosworthy in mind because I thought he was absolutely Dreadful at Braman he was instrumental in our relegation for League one and yeah I just thought it was an utter disaster for all the time he was at United but it was great for Sunderland 114 times he played for them very well regarded by everybody at the stadium of light he actually won their player of the season in 2006 2007 so certainly has better memories on one half of this game than the other another Defender who United originally signed on loan from Sunderland before then bringing him permanently to play a lot of games for United was Neil Collins he played 177 times for United and despite never getting us out of League one he wasn’t able to be part of that success that really drove us forward he did have some fantastic times at Braman through the cup semi-finals through the defensive record that they set as a unit with Mark Howard behind before that was broke relatively recently by Wes foderingham he made 18 appearances for Sunderland scoring one goal and I think he’s well Remembered at Bram lane or at least he is well remembered by me the final one is Phil barsley now he’s another one who is much better remembered for his time at Sunderland then he is for his time at bramma Lane he spent 16 games on loan at United joining us from Manchester United and we did actually have a deal in place to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of this loan however that one never came came off because instead he agreed a permanent deal to sign for Sunderland where he carried on with them for the next six years playing predominantly in the Premier League 174 times for the club he again won player of the year for Sunderland in 20101 but unfortunately the end of his time at Sunderland is not well regarded as discipline issues and the old Twitter got him in a little bit of trouble they’re the names that I came up with let me know yours tell me in the comments all the famous ones I’ve forgotten because I am historically terrible at remembering players who’ve played for both and finally we come to our score predictions now if you predicting Sheffield United victories Paul thinks we’ll win one nil Steve agrees he also thinks it will be 1 nil Nick the boss he’s gone for 21 United while ant and Ray think that of course we won’t concede any goals and we’ll actually win 2 nil now I’m the tiebreaker here because none of those scores has actually got a majority we’ve got two people predicting one1 two people predicting one nil and two people predicting 2-n I am sadly going to put myself down as a 1 one I think this is a really difficult game I think the players that Sunderland have got coming back into their team are really dangerous and will make them a much different team to the one who’ve seen these five draws in a row I think as well three games in a week with the fitness issues and the availability issues that United have got would’ be pretty happy to end this one with a draw in this huge game so there it is everybody thank you so much for joining me ahead of what is a massive game against Sunderland on
