All Season the Colorado Avalanche have been struggling between the pipes they already traded their backup Eustace anadin for Scott Wedgewood earlier in the season and after this pretty big deal today it’s a complete revamp of their goal tending tandem the gorv is the starter experiment has been a roller coaster since day one in Colorado the high point definitely being his first year in Denver where he was actually really good but too much inconsistency in Wild swings for a team that’s trying to make the most of having some Elite Talent in their primes he gets delt to San Jose from Mackenzie Blackwood who’s been linked to the ABS for a while here and now 3 months to the day that the ABS open their season with an 84 loss to Vegas they’ve got two completely different goalies and good on McFarland and sakic for going out and doing something about this here some people may be saying no it’s not good they should have done this sooner or they should have got this guy that guy I get that but at least they did something and with plenty of time to spare in the season 2 and it’s not like blackwoods a slouch or anything he’s a good goalie who was even getting some Team Canada Whispers ahead of the rosters being named if he had a 910 safe percentage in San Jose you wonder what he’s going to do on a Colorado team that’s looking to go deep in the playoffs especially in tandem with Wedgewood who’s been really good since coming over from Nashville and even as a one for one goalie forg goalie trade this would have been a pretty big interesting deal but it’s far from it the ABS also get javanni Smith who’s a fourth line in and out of the lineup energy enforcer type guy and a fifth in 2027 then there’s Mike Greer who pulled a pretty solid return for rebuilding sharks team here they know askarov their goalie the future so they didn’t really have a problem dealing away Blackwood they know they’re probably not making the playoffs this year so they have no problem going through the vanich yorgi of experience and maybe mixing in a couple askarov games in there they also get Nikolai kovalenko who’s a 25-year-old who shown some flashes of having some scoring touch if he plays well maybe you can flip him for an asset at the deadline plus they got two picks a second and a fifth in the same way I like McFarland and Sack being proactive about their goalie situation here and going out and doing something about it I love this move for Greer sharks with respect to the rebuild GE gives in the last year of his deal if he can find some consistency Greer could get an asset for him for someone who wants to take him on as a backup or a 1B insurance policy again that’s if he can find some consistency which is not guaranteed especially on the Sharks we’ll see how much this does for the ABS cuz they were already in the midst of finding their game a little a little bit it didn’t come cheap but it could give them a nice push also they should just change their name to the Colorado Woods they’ve got Wedgewood Milwood and now Blackwood Kyle Wellwood whenever you’re ready to come out of retirement the ABS want you that’ll do it on this one thank you for watching give me your thoughts on the deal yes the ABS had to give up quite a bit here but they also really needed to shore up that position the last thing you want to do is throw away a year of marar Ranon and McKinnon because of this and for Greer way to go in and take advantage of that I’m liking what he’s been doing for his rebuild let me know I’ll see you in the next one you’re awesome
