with how the New York Rangers have been playing so far this season it definitely seems like there is a quite realistic chance of this team being more of a kind of seller team at this upcoming NHL trade deadline or around it so in today’s video we’re going to take a look at a pretty interesting kind of report that came out from a a pretty reputable NHL reporter Chris Johnson as he basically said that he believes the New York Rangers new defenseman will bouron one of the newest Acquisitions could be a pretty kind of attractive trade option for multiple different playoff teams on the trade market around this NHL trade deadline as he is you know a pretty big defenseman who is you know about 6′ three there he’s got that good size pretty physical is having kind of the worst season of his career so far I’d say you know this season right now but for the most part over his career so far although not a lengthy career has had you know a few seasons now at the NHL level has some experience and is a guy who for the most part there plays a pretty reliable defensive game has that size there has the physical you know kind of game to him as well and can kill penalties so he’s got some nice kind of ability to his game there where he could be a pretty nice addition for a you know playoff caliber team was looking to kind of add in maybe a bottom pairing defenseman to kind of add some depth in there and just really provide some depth for a team who’s looking to go on a playoff run because you got to have depth there injuries are going to happen more than likely for you know a lot lot of teams in the playoffs there so adding in a guy like OB Boron who may not be uh you know your best defenseman obviously he’s not going to be a top four guy for most teams possibly even got teams who really trying to compete for our cup but maybe they can be that kind of guy just to be a perfect kind of you know third pairing right-handed defenseman who’s got that size there decent amount of experience you know he’s still also only 28 years old so it’s not like he’s you know some super old guy so he definitely could be a pretty attractive Target for a playoff team and he is also unexpired contract with a pretty manageable cap it so the Rangers could also retain you know half that contract just to make it even more kind of desirable for a team but with this kind of pretty manageable you know about $2.7 million capit most you know playoff caliber teams are going to be able to add that if we retain 50% maybe he can even get a little extra value but I do think with the way things are going right now being a seller for the Rangers is probably the better way to go you got to look towards the future I mean right now this team doesn’t have much of a chance on even if we do make the playoffs there to go on much of a run so in my opinion I think we have to start looking towards the future with this team right now and the ideal situation I think is to be kind of sellers here trading away guys in particular like a will bouron who is someone who has an expiring contract who will be an unrestricted for agent this upcoming off season to me he’s not someone who I’m necessarily wanting to bring back so I think trading him away at the deadline here when you know for the most part selling teams do kind of end up getting kind of the the right side of the deal there for the most part you can if you’re a seller get some pretty good value and be a bit more kind of value than some players and certain players really kind of deserve so I think we definitely could end up getting a pretty desirable trade if we can move away from will Boron because a lot of teams going to want a 6′ three fairly defensively reliable 28-year-old defenseman who can you know just be a kind of solid third paring guy there kill some penalties you know be on that second maybe a PK unit there but just be a reliable third paring guy with that size and physicality that’s also a nice bonus there so I think a lot of playoff teams definitely would be interested and it does seem like from what Chris Johnson’s saying he’s also kind of saying that as well so it does seem like a lot of teams are going to be interested and he definitely should be a guy who the Rangers are looking to trade away specifically because like I said I don’t want to see him really come back I don’t think he’s necessarily the perfect kind of you know Target to resign unless he does you know really kind of look good in the coming weeks possibly whatever happens I mean that’s obviously kind of you know we something have to wait and see but in general here I think trading him away getting some good assets back for the future is probably the right move for w bouron especially if he is going to have that much interest there maybe we can end up getting you know a third or fourth round pick plus and also get a good kind of prospect alongside that I think that is a possibility and you know maybe think I’m crazy there but normally around the trade deadline we do see you know the selling teams kind of get some pretty good value at moments for some of their players even on expiring contracts so I think you know with how cheap this contract is especially we do retain half that just to help out the team possibly you know that could work out quite well for us in a deal so maybe a third round pick and a prospect is actually a possibility I wouldn’t be insanely shocked I mean look what we got for Jacob trer there we got a fourth round pick for getting off that 8 million contract that does have another season on it as well and tro was obviously not the best defenseman in the world so I think getting a fourth round pick there definitely says something about how much he could possibly get in return for will bouron and I got to imagine he has more value just because he doesn’t have that you know massive capit for this season and next so maybe we can get you know a third round pick plus a you know solid defense Prospect as well potentially I mean I’m not exactly sure what his value is going to be but if a lot of teams are interested maybe that value just continues to go up there and we do see him kind of go for more than he really deserves to go for and we end up getting back a third round pick and a pretty good Prospect it definitely is possible and if we could get anything close to that I would be very happy with that trade and you know when that cocko trade did happen and we saw him get sent off to Seattle for will bourgeon obviously and a third and a sixth round pick I definitely wasn’t a static about it I didn’t love that trade but if we can end up getting back you know some good value in return for will bouron especially if it is another third round pick in a prospect then you’re pretty much looking at like two third round picks a six and a maybe DEC DEC or good prospect there for caco which definitely looks a lot better there especially if you can kind of turn some of those actual pieces into something decent whether it is you know trading away some of those thirds maybe moving up in the draft or possibly you know just using a couple of those thirds and you’re using a prospect and a player and another pick or something like a first round pick to go out there and get a star kind of guy possibly like there are a lot of moves you can make so getting more assets back in return I don’t think it’s a good idea and you know getting some more picks specifically fourwh Bor and will also make that cocko trade look a little better in my opinion cuz right now I don’t love the value that we kind of got in return for coo but if we can get something around a third round pick and a good prospect that definitely could make that trade look a lot better in my opinion so definitely comment down below video is not over but definitely comment down below your thoughts on possibly getting you know something around a third or a fourth round pick and maybe a good decent kind of prospect there let me know your thoughts on that for will Boron do you think that’s way too much too little let me know your kind of thoughts on exactly what you think well Boron kind of could go for on the trade market and kind of which teams you think could be pretty good kind of you know targets for him to land on because he does seem like the kind of defenseman who could be a really kind of desirable Target for many playoff teams so I think there could be a lot of suitors there like Chris Johnson did say so that could be a pretty good thing there getting a little bidding more going for a guy like that for the New York Rangers to try and get as much value as you can of him as possible to make that cocko trade look even better and I have talked about it a lot in the past as well but I do think that we really need to see this team kind of look towards a future there and really continue to kind of make these selling kind of moves there and like I said I didn’t love the cocko trade but I don’t hate the idea of what Chris Dre is seemingly trying to do and whether or not the quotes that he kind of said about him getting benched there had much of an impact on that actual trade who really will ever know but the actual kind of thing about him making those trades are getting rid of Jacob trouba finally you know getting rid of coo kako I think is the right move there to try and look in a different direction now like I said I didn’t love that trade but it’s the right move there to look in a different direction try and get some different players in here get rid of some of the former kind of core guys in this team to look in a different direction to try and turn things around here and get things going get us back towards potentially winning an actual Stanley Cup so making these kind of selling moves here getting some assets doing a little retool here and getting really some more picks back and Prospects because we have moved away off of you know quite a few you know to ask us whether it is you know draft picks high value ones as well whether it’s first second third round picks whatever is and also prospects as well to go out there and get these rentals for the most part there at these trade deadlines so I think making these selling moves is was best for this team and you know adding in some more prospects and using these picks as well is not a bad thing you know having these prospects consistently kind of coming through the organization you know coming up through the miners you know developing and stuff like that and being these breads the Victor manini the Adam edstroms you need these kind of guys on these cheap contracts to make these kind of impacts if especially when you’re good as well not just for now when we’re trying to get back towards being contenders but when you are a contender you want to have these prospects consistently coming through on these cheap deals so you can still be able to sign and extend your star kind of players when they need their big contracts but also having these guys on their entry level deals really can help things out quite a bit so you’re going to see in the future you know probably next season we have a guy G Pro on this roster which you know maybe he does make his NHL debut right away next season maybe he doesn’t but having a guy like that on a cheap contract on his entry level deal is going to be a big bonus for this team because you’re going to be able to save a lot of money on on a possible kind of style of a guy right away and obviously want to see kind how he develops coming into the NHL level in Pro Hockey but if you understand what I’m saying there having these guys on cheap contracts on their entry level deals is going to be a big bonus so adding in more Picks and Prospects via trades at this upcoming deadline via some selling moves that we can make you know with guys like will bourgeon you know obviously r smth as well maybe Jimmy V seeing some other guys possibly as well like lingren Andre Miller this could be a really smart thing for the New York Rangers kind of long-term future which I definitely think should be kind of the focus of this
