we have a massive Yankees free agency update as insiders have revealed the Yankees plans for what they want to do with the first base position and how there is a most likely Suitor for the New York Yankees first base position and we’re going to break it all down what’s up guys welcome back to Yankees digest it’s Chris here and we’re going to jump right into things as usual and if you guys like the content make sure to subscribe to Yankees digest 133% of viewers are subscribed let’s get those numbers up but more importantly let’s talk about some New York Yankees baseball as we know the team’s still out there trying to find an option for first base with a few a few names have been floating around specifically Christian Walker who seems like he is the front runner and in a recent in a recent newsletter from Brian hotch he kind of revealed what insiders have told him and what league sources have said and as mentioned the Yankees are looking to upgrade first base and Bellinger could fit the bill there as we know the Yankees are in Cody Bellinger talks but so could free agents like Pete Alonzo Paul goldi Carlos Santana or Christian Walker and of that group interest industry sources suggest that Walker is the most likely fit reports have also suggested that trades for Yandy Diaz and Josh Naylor are also options now look Kirk is doing a video on Josh Naylor so if you want to hear about that that one’s coming also or might have already been released I’m not sure which one of these were releasing first but I drew the Andy Diaz straw so this is the one what we’re talking about but we’re also talking about Christian Walker as industry sources revealed Christian Walker looks to be the most likely fit at first base for the New York Yankees going into next season and I love this idea I mean the Yankees they signed Max freed Max freed is the best ground ball pitcher ground out pitcher in all of baseball there’s a reason why the yanies want good Fielding they already had a Fielding issue Jazz Chisum is going to move to second base it’s such an important field position over Third Base we all you know that second base is better because inner infield matters more and jazz is going to move to Second it’s almost guaranteed that jazz Chism is going to be a second baseman so when that happens the Yankees are going to need a first baseman and a third baseman they’re going to need to work on the corners and Christian Walker makes all the sense in the world for the Yankees at first Bas I mean a gold Clover his last three years the man went to a World Series not that long ago with the Arizona Diamondbacks last season he had 26 home runs in 479 at bats now he bats righty which kind of sucks because the Yankees do need some left- ended hitters obviously losing stto is one thing but also Alex Verdugo walking cuz he you know not good enough is another thing now Dominguez replaces Verdugo in the Outfield or stto in the Outfield it’s a guy who could hit from the left side being a switch hitter the Yankees do need more and Kirk did a video on Anthony santand Deere who could likely sign with the Yankees as predicted by Bleacher Report so if you haven’t seen that one check it out also because he’s a switch hitter as well and could end up in right field and have Dominguez in center field and judge in left field or have santand there in left field but that’s a more important position so I doubt they’d put him there so you look at Christian Walker the only downside to him is that he bats right-handed so the Yankees would have to go out and find some left-handed batters maybe for third base or just for it’s not to many third left-handed third baseman out there so maybe you trade for Ryan McMahon I’d love that idea that gives you a lefty but the the Yankees they’ll need to find some left-handed batters regardless but you get a gold Glover here who can hit the ball pretty well hits at average well Ops of 803 which you like to see positive Ops Plus at 121 when the league averages 100 so also his career average is over that Christian Walker just makes so much sense for the Yankees he gets on base well he hits the ball with power he would just fit on this team especially because he wants to win now obviously all players want to win but I mean he’s 33 years old went to the World Series knows the Diamond Backs Sur pry not getting back there so he wants to go to a team where he can win a World Series now he has been in discussions with the Washington Nationals and yes the Nationals are obviously getting a lot better but they’re still a long way off for being as good as the Yankees are right now or at least one would have to imagine that so Christian Walker becomes very very valuable for the New York Yankees and it is likely in my opinion that the Yankees go out and sign Walker I would say the Yankees are the Front Runners for Walker and Walker is certainly the front runner for the Yankees first base position as if the Yankees acquire Bellinger part of me really does believe that Bellinger is going to be be in the Outfield primarily for the Yankees while also pra sharing sometime at first base as well now especially also Aaron judge is older than Bellinger and the Yankees want to move Aaron judge to first base in the next few years anyway so look Christian Walker would be a huge huge huge help for the New York Yankees now another there were some other names being mentioned out here now as Brian hch said casman confirmed the Yankees have talked with Scott Boris about Alex bregman and they’ve also explored a potential trade with the Cardinals for veteran Nolan arnado now the Yankees to do an arnado trade it’s very likely what would happen is they’d try to make the Cardinals pay a lot of arnado salary so the Yankees don’t have to especially with arnado getting older his hitting’s falling off slowly but surely and here’s an interesting thing about arnado he’s been willing to move to first base if it means he can go to a contender arnado is not married to being a third baseman as he gets older He’s 33 almost 34 years old now and he’s still one of the best fielders in baseball his glove is absolutely phenomenal there’s a reason why he’s a platinum Glover he’s one of the best fielders of this generation but as he gets older obviously the Fielding is going to go I don’t want the Yankees to trade for Nolan arnado I have nothing against Nolan arnado I think he’s right to want to go to a winning team the problem is why would you trade for a third baseman who’s primarily a great Fielding third baseman when the Yankees could use a left-handed hitter something arnado is not and at the same time you move into first base anyway like it doesn’t make sense to me that does not add up to in my opinion Nolan arnado is an eight time All-Star but he has not been the same player in the last two years he’s a 10 time gold Glover a six-time platinum Glover a five time Silver Slugger but that silver slugging is not really there anymore last season only 16 home runs his Ops was under was below average average Ops is 750 he’s at 720 719 really I’m being nice slightly slightly above average Ops Plus at Ops plus average is 100 so arnado does not fit with the New York Yankees I imagine he’s somewhat of an option considering he’s willing to move to first base and can still hold down third base for a bit but with his contracts Banning for a while longer is he’s not a free agent for another three seasons it just feels like an unlikely move by the New York Yankees especially because he’s a right-handed hitter in the Yankees they don’t need to stock up on more right-handed hitters like whoever the leadoff hitter is going to be is still a massive question but you imagine Jazz chism’s going to bat second and then Aaron judge is thirdd Wells is going to be fourth so you have a good amount of lefties in the very top Echelon of your team but then after that with Stanton at five and then you have to fit out the rest of it where Christian Walker would likely bat sixth that’s two in a row you need to put Dominguez probably seventh for that you have Anthony vuli who’s I doubt leading off but he might and if he is that’s a righty Lefty righty Lefty that’s fine it it’s fine having a righty lead off but you’ll most likely see vulpi bat eighth or ninth and if he’s batting ninth then you’re going righty righty Lefty righty and then it it’s a lot of right-handed guys in a row and the Yankees like to go back and forth as much as possible so I could see V batting around eighth and then it depends the Yankees still have signings to make before you can really figure out the lineup but they could use some more left-handed guys for the back end of the lineup so arnado makes no sense to me at all I do not want the Yankees to go after him I didn’t even really plan on talking about arado this much but he had to come up now there is another guy and we’ll get to him in a second but we have some prospects here and why am i showing these prospects because of this as Jim Bowden mentioned the Yankees were reportedly interested in yandi Diaz during the trade deadline last season and reports suggest they are still interested the Rays would be interested in prospects Brando Maya and or Maya and Zach messenger now they’re both ranked not the highest in the Yankees farm system but they are in the 10 to 20 range Brando I mean look center fielder the Yankees have Jason Dominguez for the foreseeable future they’re trying to work out a Cody Bellinger trade the outfield’s fine you do need another left fielder but Brando’s a while out so you don’t have to worry about that you got to trade him away if you can get Yandy Diaz because Diaz is a good player after all and messenger relief pitcher out there doing his thing he is expected to be in the MLB next season and it might not be with the Yankees if you can acquire Yandy Diaz you go out there and you do that now Diaz someone who the Yankees were interested in at the deadline but did not make a move for him had an all right season last year I mean again right-handed first baseman so like again you’re stacking up righties but he has shown some power at some points of his recent career and just shown the ability to be a very very talented player in general I mean he was an All-Star recently and he couldn’t recapture that magic this season but maybe the change of scenery now that the Rays I mean fell off a literal Cliff this season this past season maybe going to a contending team will kind of revive him the way it did with JZ chisen now Yandy Ops of 755 so slightly above average good Ops plus you like what you see to a degree fine player I mean the Yankees should have interest they’re doing their due diligence I don’t really think the Yankees are going to trade for Diaz but the prolonged interest does scream potentially especially because Diaz can play Third Base at sometimes I mean he could really do both whenever but they would not stick him as a primary third baseman at all so that would just not be something that happens but Diaz is an interesting guy to explore the market for I just again I don’t like the idea I want it to be Christian Walker I’ve been pretty vocal on this I know he’s a righty and I’ve been anti-y this entire video and a little bit in the past I just wanted to be Walker you get an elite fielder for the best ground ball pitcher in baseball more run prevention is always nice I know first base is in some position where it’s like it must be an elite Fielder but it’s helpful especially when he gives you a solid bat also one of the best bats you can get out of the first baseman you go out there and you sign Christian Walker that’s what the New York Yankees absolutely should do and I truly believe it’s what they’re going to do so you look at these prospects you look at Brando and you see a guy two years of rookie ball solid play definitely is someone who could have an impact I mean his first season in rookie ball he looked pretty good second season not exactly the same player meanwhile you look at messenger and he’s just improved the higher up he’s gotten throughout the farm system I mean a 306 ER last year in AA Somerset and now you see him potentially getting a chance to go to the MLB this year if all works out well for him so it’s very interesting to see but if that’s all you have to trade for Diaz and you miss out on Christian Walker then maybe you go out there and do it but look here’s the deal guys if they’re going to miss out on Christian Walker I just I just don’t see the point in not going for Pete Alonzo I know he’s not a great Fielder I understand that I understand you’re giving a lot of money for a guy who’s a pure power bat who’s onedimensional and nothing else I’m not trying to trash Pete Alonzo he’s a phenomenal player had one of the most clutch home runs all season last year he deserves his flowers he deserves to get paid 20 plus million ABS absolutely he does but where the Yankees are at if you’re going to miss out on Christian Walker and you are going to sign some first baseman go out there and make a splash and also Stick it to the Mets like just just stick it to the Mets it’ll be funny I still would rather a mix of Cody Bellinger and than just mainly Christian Walker there with Bellinger in the Outfield but it’s hard to imagine they get both Walker and Bellinger I do it’s hard to imagine what’s happening with the Bellinger deal right now cuz we’re going to see if either side budges and is willing to pay Bellinger but we’ll get you an update on that soon when more details come out but there’s nothing new right now so we’re not going to waste your time guys let me know what you think down below like this video subscribe turn on post notifications didn’t mean for it to be this long have a great day and go Yankees
