we’ve had a ton of New York Rangers trade talks rumors reports and news as of late over the last little while here but once again today we’re going to take a look at a trade report but this time involving Capo cako the former second overall pick of the New York Rangers his name has reportedly kind of surfaced in some trade talks so in today’s video we’re going to break down this report here and I’ll give you kind of my thoughts on whether or not we should be trading away Capo kako because we know this Rangers team has not been playing good hockey at all as of late as recording this video we’re on a five game losing streak just lost the Philadelphia Flyers um obviously on Friday right around American Thanksgiving I’m Canadian so I didn’t have the day off couldn’t watch that game but obviously another big loss for this team and a very disappointing one against a not great Philadelphia Flyers team so we know there have been some big talks about some big is possibly happening with this New York Rangers team and you know kokako his name should not be brought up in these trade talks unless we’re trading for a superstar or Star level kind of guy we should not be trading away kokako now I’m not saying he’s going to go one for one for a star level kind of guy but what I’m saying is unless he’s a part of a package you know we’re doing you know kako a good Prospect and a first rounder to go out there and get a true you know Star level kind of guy a true impactful kind of player who’s going to really change this franchise I don’t want to see kako traded away I don’t think it makes any sense to me he is a perfect player to have on your third line we’ve seen that third line made up of Philip heel and the mainly know the two guys there will Coy and coaco they have been two of the kind of best defensive you know forwards for this Rangers team I mean that third line has been so good defensively so far this season so I think in general you know coo kako is not a guy to trade away he is someone who we keep around for the longterm in my opinion now his contract will end this upcoming summer so he will have the chance to obviously negotiate a new deal with the team but he will be an RFA a restricted free agent with arbitration eligibility meaning he can obviously go to a middleman kind of thing at Rangers and him obviously can’t come to an agreement on a contract which normally for the player I feel like kind of favors them a bit there but either way he’s going to probably sign back on a fairly reasonable fairly cheap contract somewhere around his kind of current CIT of 2.4 million maybe he gets like a 2-year you know 3.25 $3.5 million deal something like that would not be out of the real possibility in my opinion I think could be a pretty fair contract for both sides there where kcko can also trying and kind of really prove himself you know to obviously eventually sign a pretty massive contract a much bigger one but you know under two more years under contract that around three and a half or less for kako I think for the Rangers side of things there and Rangers Fan would be such a great team friendly deal so obviously with presumably that massive extension for eigor kicking in and the one that obviously laer has already signed you know the cat Bas we do have quite a bit of it but it’s obviously going to come down a bit with those you know extensions hitting the books there and unless we can trade away some of these other guys as Jacob trba you know having a guy cocko back on a very cheap contract A Team friendly one I think could be great for this team so now let’s take a look though at the kind of quote here from the article from the hockey news there where they kind of talked about this and in that article they end up seeing Papo Coo’s name has reportedly resurfaced in trade discussions according to tsn’s Darren dragger who is a very reputable you know hockey reporter they end up saying however Dreger adds that it doesn’t necessarily mean the Rangers will actually give up kcko given that he is still a young forward with potential like I’m saying here I definitely don’t want to see him traded away but they say quote lots of teams are just swirling around Chris Tre and the Rangers Beyond what’s been speculated this week with the news of Chris krider and Jacob trouba being available quote you know Drager said on insider trading I’m told that Capo kak’s name has resurfaced now it’s not like the Rangers are willing to give this guy away they drafted him second overall in 2019 and that obviously is kind of what I’m saying here I mean kako is a guy who I think right now may not be at his Peak value overall you know trade value wise obviously since being the former second overall pick but this is someone who I’m a big fan of you know I bought a draft a puck of his that’s got signed just in general there I’m trying to say I’m a cocko fan I like a lot I think he’s a good player and this is someone that I do think you know longterm for this Rangers team can have a pretty good impact there I think this is a guy who you know is someone who should be on this team long term he’s that former second overall pick and he may never end up you know probably being that second overall pick caliber of a player but he obviously is someone who is very talented and still has a lot to give I mean he’s not some bum you know fourth line complete bust now he is a bust second overall pickwise but you know for a being a good NHL player he definitely can be that for years and years to come he’s got that you know pretty good offensive play from what we’ve seen so far this season he has produced at a pretty good level offensively at five on five especially because he’s obviously not getting a ton of power play time so he has produced quite well on that third line offensively which is very nice to see he started to have a little bit of a little bit of an opportunity there to play center as well which does up his value although he’s not going to be more than likely a you know fulltime everyday you know 82 game kind of centerman per season but he’s a guy who it seems like here and there can possibly kind of slot in in that Center Spot there which definitely provides some extra value there as well having a Winger who you know has the opportunity if injuries happen you know especially mid game as well one of those top centers go down having a guy at cocko there who can kind of you know fill in at the center Spot somewhere in the lineup mid game is definitely a nice thing to have there he’s also a you know pretty decent faceof taker for a Winger as well so that’s kind of nice there but just in general he is a very talented player he’s got that good offensive game good defensive game obviously really solid defensively especially the season so far alongside coie there they have been a great defensive Wing Duo on that third line we’re starting to see some of that offense really start to come around there after a very disappointing season you know back in 2023 2024 last season offensively they not put up great numbers at all they don’t have a great playoff run but now this season has started turn things around there he’s in a raack year although he’s still in RFA he’s going to look to get a bit of a pay raise there and maybe I’m wrong I mean it definitely wouldn’t be the first time but my guess is he’ll probably end up signing something around a one to twoyear deal at like maybe three and a half million maybe up to like 3.75 depending on kind of how he finishes this season and he does have that arbitration eligibility so again kind of go to that middleman there which you know sometimes does SA for the players so maybe he does get getting a little more there especially if he does have a great kind of you know finish to the season there or about quarter way into the season there so we still a long way to go obviously but kcko was definitely someone who if he heats up with him being an RFA but having that arbitration eligibility he could end up signing a pretty you know decent Siz cap at more than likely on just a one to twoyear contract to really kind of prove himself and then end up signing that longer term deal after that kind of like what laf reer did himself but carrying on though and taking a look at his stats so far this season coo cako does have 22 games played three goals nine assists 12 total points he’s a plus 12 you he’s having a pretty good season so far definitely like I said much better offensively than last season but it’s just overall play as well on that third line alongside will coie they have been such a great kind of dynamic defensive Duo you could say while also providing a decent amount of offense as well so I’m very happy with what I’ve seen so far to those two players but especially kcko you know W Co been a guy been a big fan of and pretty high on for a while now he didn’t have a great season last season obviously as well but that was his rookie season season whereas K has been in the league for a while now he’s got a lot more games played at the NHL level but he really started to turn things around so far this season which is definitely a very good sign and you know like I said I don’t think he’s ever going to be that second overall pick caliber guy not quite sure he’s ever going to be that kind of Point per game plus kind of guy but he definitely can be maybe that you know 40 50 maybe 60 point kind of guy here and there while playing that good defensive game as well I mean we’ll have to wait and see kind of what he ends up hitting but you know that 4050 Point guy especially something around there while being that good kind of two-way player really good defensively maybe having a season or two here and there hitting that kind of 60 65 point mark I think is definitely a very realistic possibility for coo kako long term anyways thank you all so much for watching this video if you have
