Boston on the other hand the Panthers getting a little chilly right now they are 4 and six over their last 10 their wins came against Winnipeg Philly Nashville and Dallas but their losses came against Washington Colorado Chicago Winnipeg and backto backs against New Jersey so the cats are prime Prime right now to LEAP up and try and take this one and get back in the wind column but the Maple Leafs targeted today but he is just not not ready no kidding if he was ready he’d be in the lineup so Matthews is on the Shelf Kemp is on the Shelf petetti is on the Shelf yro is on the Shelf DOI is on the Shelf Matthew NIS is on the Shelf you know it wasn’t long ago when Austin Matthews Matthew NIS and Max doy was our Top Line they’re all now injured oh my goodness we’ll have to see how this works out Dion how’s it going welcome in now ran Reeves still suspended so we don’t have him here in the lineup here is the Panthers lineup there it is Chuck is getting it going goal Leaf go let’s do it all right for the Panthers Evan Rodriguez with Alex barov and Sam Reinhardt who by the way Sam Reinhardt lighting it up Carter Veri with Sam Bennett and Matt kachuck now that is a top six on the bottom it’s list ran with londell and sovich then we got AJ Greer with no seek in gdovic so a very very stacked top six an okay middle in a somewhat of a weak fourth line but hey they’re depth players right on the dside it’s forsling and eblad mola and kulakov Schmidt and balinskis and he is man he’s become one of my favorites uh a because I always have trouble pronouncing his name but he is playing really really well right now and of course tending the twine leading the Blue Line Sergey Bovi he is in there and both boquist are scratched tonight Adam and yesper so both boquist are out awesome going on Toronto in first place 21 games played 136 and two 28 points the Panthers have played 22 games so they’ve played one more they’re 12 n and one 25 points so even if the Panthers win it still leaves them a point behind Toronto but they’re making it closer now when we look at them individually on the power play Toronto 16th they’ve moved up from 32nd to 16th overall the Panthers are about ninth so pretty close right we’re talking about 2% difference 21.7% conversion for the Panthers to 19.7% for the Maple Leafs on the penalty kill the Panthers are 11th in the league Toronto is seventh again very very close we’re talking 81% for the Panthers to 83.6% for Toronto super super duper close on special teams so what’s the moral of the story why test special teams stay out of the box play your game but try to draw you’re of the other team to take penalties now in the faceoff Circle this is somewhere where Toronto has been lighting it up they’re second in the league right now at 53.8% the Panthers are all the way at the other end 28th in the lead but just to show you the difference we’re talking just a few percentage points 47.3 % the Panthers are 53.8 Toronto so again it’s a very small difference in percentage to go from the top of the league to the bottom Toronto’s been great in the faceof circle except when they have the man advantage and they’re in that offensive zone draw against this is where they’ve been awesome Toronto’s goendale league with a twoo 48 where Florida is 27th in the league with a 3.45 again we’re talking a onepoint difference but overall Toronto is the better attendees right now they’re putting up great numbers stellars is a 218 Joseph wall is a 2.0 on the goals against in the safe percentage stellars is a 927 wall is a 922 each with a shut out for the Panthers bosski he’s 95 and one but he’s got a 318 goals against and an 885 save percentage not spectacular numbers we know Bob can hone in and do better and as the season goes on he certainly will Spencer Knight has seen a couple of games he’s three and four with a 2.63 goals against and a 902 safe percentage so he’s not getting the wins but he has a little bit slightly better numbers there so we’re going to have to watch these guys and watch how they play out now as we go into this both teams Florida and Toronto has some guys amongst the league leaders and it’s nice to see Sam Reinhardt he is 31 points he is middle of the road in the pack of leaders for over all points Sam Reinhardt leads the league in goals with 16 goals which is awesome just behind him with 14 goals is the one and only number 88 Willie neander so neander with two goals can catch Sam Reinhardt for top spot in the league when it comes to assists Mitchie Marner he’s hanging around he’s got 20 assists just eight off the pace Nathan McKinnon with 28 overall assists but Mitch Marner is in there with 20 so that is pretty good and let’s not forget I you know kind of want to call neander the great 88 because neander has four game winning goals that is second place tied for second place place in the league four game-winning goals and neander when he is on he is absolutely incredible we got some of the penalty minute leaders in this game as well something we definitely have to keep an eye on AJ Greer you gotta watch him he has 36 penalty minutes tonight uh tonight my gosh can you imagine 36 overall this season he’s on that list of leaders we need to watch out for him Scott what’s going on Jeff welcome in if I’ve missed you let me scroll back I want to make sure we welcome each and every one of you in here to the show and but it’s going to be a good one this could be it has a potential to be one of the best games of the Season anytime these two get together it is a battle and battle they are going to do now these guys play each other four times this season which I feel like is a rarity right usually it’s two or three we got four games four times these guys are going to match up they play today then they save it for the end the schedule makers knew they could sense hey Toronto and Florida we got a rivalry building here these two are going to be battling all the way down for top spot in the Atlantic so we get a preview tonight they then play again March 13th in Toronto April 2nd in Toronto and April 8th in Florida so three games in the last month and a half of the season they are looking to close it out they are trying to make sure this playoff picture comes down to the wire and you know what it’s going to Victoria how’s it going welcome in Joey welcome in daav boy bit harder they’ve been winning those battles along the boards and those board battles are key to to being able to come and get a goal um and being able to work on those boards is gonna what’s going to free the puck up so Florida’s doing a really good job of this and that’s really what led to their second goal here tonight is they were battling in the corner they were driving it right they were around that perimeter they were able to steal the puck win this Puck battle kind of play keep away Along the boards and then when the time was right Toronto had about four guys all in front of the net actually all five down in front of that net and it was just stellars couldn’t see it he had to go down kind of almost in a butterfly and try and protect the bottom part of the net um Florida good eye you know good eye sees that Sam kovich sees that and he goes up over the shoulder and puts that one in so a really really good job by the Florida Panthers on that second goal I mean a tough tough play they going to do there the Young Guns are doing good yes like how they’re playing they are doing great and yeah NIS and lorence playing well you know it was a shame that NIS kind of get gets knocked out with that injury um very very unfortunate but hopefully you know hopefully uh he’ll come back and be better than ever and the little rest you know precautionary rest doesn’t hurt anybody and hopefully that that helps out um but we’ll have to see you know Robertson is a guy he needs to come he needs to get things going in homberg those are the two spots right now and and I’ve been very positive on Robertson you know I’ve been very open with Robertson talking about you know how much um you know we need to lay off him give him his chance he’s had his chance you know he’s he’s had it in then some so the fact that Nick Robertson hasn’t really been able to get anything going I think is has been big disappointment for a lot of people um so we definitely you know got to see you know maybe Nick Roberts and it’s maybe it’s time he’s packaged for something um maybe it’s time homberg is packaged as part of something um you know their value probably isn’t super high and it’s not like their contracts are high but um maybe a change of location will do them uh do them good yeah Justin I’m a big stellars guy I’m a big stellars guy you know I like what he brings he’s a good hockey player um you know again last year behind bosski he only started what was it 14 games I believe it wasn’t a lot of games so he’s going to be tested here as the season goes on can he play you know how long can he play um it’s going to be very very interesting to see and uh yeah we’ll uh we’ll see what he can do Marley’s are AHL yes Marley’s are AHL and we got like half of them on our team right now which is crazy uh so we’ll let’s we’ll see what what they’re going to do hopefully you know hopefully these young kids can keep performing and and keep improving I I like what Fraser Minon is doing uh with the puck and without the puck getting in good spots I love what I’m seeing from g g brinkin um gin is hitting he’s being physical he’s he’s making some plays happy he uh he got an assist here on uh they they said he got an assist on barner’s goal but it’s still listed as unassisted so I hope they they don’t take that assist back from him um but grin’s playing really really well uh Robertson Holberg Timmons and a possible third for Morgan Frost um yeah I don’t know it seems like a lot for frost um but again we’re talking Robertson and homberg they’re they’re not going to make or break you hope they do better but not going to make or break anybody um Tim in yeah you know it’s it’s not horrible it’s not horrible I I would kind of want something else included in there I don’t know what I’d have to take a look at at the roster there’s seems to be something missing but it’s it’s a good start it’s a good start uh who won new New York or Carolina Carolina was up and they still are with and there about 15 seconds left so looks like Carolina’s gonna pull out the W there and get that one feel monteo is a coin flip Sometimes good sometimes not so good each night yeah Ben that’s that’s a good that’s a good analysis you know mono he has played solid like when uh when we saw him against Toronto he was lights out and he’s been really really solid in a couple games um Montreal hasn’t really been helping in his cause they’ve been kind of letting him down a little bit um so I’d like to see I’d like to see him do uh I’d like to see a little bit better support for monteo and Montreal but that’s why Montreal’s the bottom of the East um but he it’s not his fault he he is a pretty solid goalie oh see I Travis I have a hard time giving up G brinkin right now I have a hard time giving up gab brinkin he’s not going to be your scoring sensation but he’s a big physical presence and he just he just plays like a a beast you know he goes in there he hits he makes some heads up plays um I’d like to see him get a little bit more time but I like him I like him a lot and I think very quickly he would become a fan favorite here in Toronto for sure uh car yeah they do Carolina does have a very good team yeah Justin they’re going to win a couple here and there um they’re going to win some but they’re they’re struggling I mean they signed Sosi to that huge deal right that big eight-year multi- you know gazillion dollar extension and he’s done nothing um so you know they’re they’re not enjoying uh not enjoying that signing right now very much at all Nick thank you very much I
