going to dive into a trade that is surfac that has Leaf fans fired up stay tuned for all this episode but before we get into it folks quick reminder and first of all happy holidays if you’re reminder to hit that subscribe button we on the road to 15,000 subscribers thank you guys for your continued support and the support on the watch along along watch along yesterday the live stream there but there is there’s a lot to go over today and there’s some rumors circulating they’re never going to stop and especially after a couple of brutal losses from the Toronto Maple lefs on Saturday and of course yesterday on Monday against the Winnipeg Jets people fans are starting to get a little bit uneasy and a little bit antsy about making some upgrades and rumors are starting to surface and that was a sneak peek of the trade rumors are starting to surface surround surrounding nazam Cadre so report the May police are kicking tires on Naas M cadri should Toronto pursue the star forward now this was of course back uh a bit a month ago today actually their initial interest R Us reported we have some new rumors and reports that have dropped we’re seeing some new reports here they need a Cadre if they get him and they go against Florida and these playoff teams it’s going to be a different series everything you could do in his power you go into the playoffs with Toronto map police with Matthews at the one CER the two tarz at the three I’d probably switch those around but I’ll tell you what if they get him and they go against Florida it’s going to be a different Series so before we get into some other new rumors and reports in the mock trade as well I want to hear your thoughts on this darus they’ve been linked to him a month ago they’ve been linked to him in the past couple weeks people are starting to talk about a little bit more the biggest hurdle is of course his $7 million cap hit but there is some ways to uh to go around that with you know calary retaining but man oh man would this be a interesting I guess uh trade Target for the Toronto Maple to pursue here yeah we’ll get into the cap implications in just a minute but in terms of the fit obviously having nasm catchy back in Toronto would be a fun idea and I think a lot of Lea fans or a portion of the fan base really really want this to get done because he would help the team to a degree now I don’t know if adding nasm cader to your second line as a second line Center over John tarz makes much sense especially the way John tarz has played this season like I don’t think that’s a major upgrade you’re not going out and getting a second line Center if you go out and get aam cadri versus John Tavarez and uh we’ll get into some trade scenarios in a bit because a lot has been thrown out there and obviously some retained salary and stuff like that but after watching the last couple Leaf Games I’ve come to realize that this team absolutely needs another centerman needs another piece up the middle of the ice and I don’t think it’s a second line center it’s probably a third line Center but a real piece that has experience in the league that can solidify that third line and the lineup for that matter so uh especially recently there are some glaring holes and they need some more scoring I you know I I’ve been saying that I think it’s the way that they play and I still believe that I think they’re still trying to hammer some things out of uh their game and some bad habits and it’s going to take some time as we head towards April and obviously the playoffs but I think it is the way that they play and they’re still going to iron that out but they do need some depth scoring still like guys like we’ll you know get into it in a future video but um certain guys in the point leaders this year they they some guys need to bridge the gap a little bit I think so uh they need some more scoring again Max doy just started to get going Nick Robertson for example but it’ be nice if they had a guy right up the middle there that you know has experience in the league can help you in the playoffs and could add a little bit of scoring and play play the right way they don’t have to score a lot of goals but the way that they play Crash the net stuff like that they need a couple more guys with that mentality I think so uh that that would really help and obviously he’s a veteran guy he’s been with Toronto before obviously not under Craig Brewer or anything like that but as you start to kind of see how it would fit he’s known for his tenacious style of playing leadership spent 10 seasons with the Leafs he eventually left in 2019 we all know but the whole Alex kerford and Tyson Barry trade there and kord’s an interesting guy but that’s another day since his departure kater has enjoyed his success winning a cup so he’s a Cup winner he’s 34 the problem is you can see at the bottom he has four years left on his contract at $49 million and you know I if you look at his stats and then you just look at him maybe that’s not completely terrible he’s 34 years old which means that by the time his contract is over he will have been 38 years old making a lot of money and quite frankly it’s a um again not a horrible amount but some people would just say hey the Leafs are already paying a bunch of guys you know who are older contract may as well just add and pile it on to you know you have Chris TF you have o we’re a bit more effective players at this point his CIT is 7 million he’s a UFA after 20 29 I don’t think it would be horrible like you do have them under control so you had your third line Center locked up for the foreseeable future here even though the second his play starts to drop off that’s when things start to get a little bit concerning surrounding nazim Kadri because again he’s a very solid player he does some things very well he does some things not quite as well and as you look at his stats I mean 22 points at 34 games that’d be you know among the top on the Toronto mate beliefs when it comes to you know the third or fourth line of course but he uh he’s still very effective and he also just turn 34 so I mean he fits into the age group with a lot of these guys Toronto has went out and signed here but Dar is I mean his stats look good he’s making a lot of money which is a negative but at the same time if he continues to produce or starts to produce better a little bit like John tarz is this season having a bit of a breakout year here then maybe you would consider if you’re the Toronto map Leafs making this trade and you have them on a a long-term deal I would consider this trade you know what before we get to that having nasm cadri back as a leaf would be a really Feelgood story if the salary cab didn’t exist any of that I think he would help the team and obviously I think the fans would welcome him back and like to see him on the team but that being said the salary cap does exist I would be okay with this trade or scenario where this would happen if there was some Hefty Hefty retained salary here Calgary retaining salary a third team retaining salary but if that’s not the case it just doesn’t work I mean the $7 million will not work a team is going to have to retain salary here but even then I mean his contract goes for another four years still and I mean would he help the team right now yes but then you’re probably stuck with that contract right until he’s almost 40 so that’s another thing you got to think about I think that the Leafs have better options out there I think that there’s younger options there’s more effective options would this be a Feelgood story absolutely 100% And you know what you get in this player that’s the other thing he can help you win he brings more of what you need but I think that there again there’s younger better options out there that um you know you can keep for years to come as well and they can kind of help solidify the lineup as jont tarz continues to Aid and has these other guys continue to uh you know get into their Prime and get a little bit older as well so I think there’s a lot of better options in terms of scoring too and I don’t think the scoring issue because a lot of people brought this up to me and I talked to somebody yesterday that brought it up to me you know the Leafs need more depth scoring I don’t know if it’s that they need scores playing in their depth as much as it is their play style when it comes to the playoffs they like to play around the perimeter if they get away from that and I think they did that against the Winnipeg Jets in their last game a lot if they can continue to get away from that and get back to the ugly goals and crashing the net they’ll be fine uh but they do need one more piece at Center I think but I I just don’t think nasm cadri is it plus before we move on Calgary probably doesn’t want to trade with Toronto that’s another thing as well yeah and let’s dive into a a trade that’s been circulating online so it’s nazin Cadre at 50% retain for Fraser mton a second round pick and Bobby McMahon now I mean I’ll be the one to say it I think this trade is a little bit ludicrous I mean you’re giving up Bobby McMahon and Fraser Minon who’s shown to be a pretty effective Center at the NHL level already Al be probably at the moment projected as like a fourth line guy if he was to play for an NHL team now um Darius has some fans fired up a little bit here I mean a second round pick and fer Minton and you’re also giving up which is kind of again Bobby McMahon who says his depth NHL forward which he is at this point but he’s been very good for the Toronto M police one healthy this year obviously coming off of his injury he looked really good in the first line in Austin Matthews absence when he was running alongside tarz and Mar neander what are your thoughts on on this trade here I mean you’ll be getting NZ $3.5 million per year but you have to give up your one of your top prospects a second round pick and Bobby McMahon I could see Bobby McMahon being a trade piece in a trade if they want to go out and get somebody who’s going to be really effective who has a lot of term who’s younger and maybe even someone who can replace John tovares I could see that happening but this trade itself seems to me like it was made like a Calgary Flames fan that did this because uh this is ludicrous I mean you’re getting nasm cadri and yes there’s some retain salary 50% so 4.5 or whatever it is ends up being 3.5 um Fraser Mitten I mean I don’t think that the Lea want to trade him at this point in time he looked really good obviously I think he will be an impact player in the NHL level at the NHL level soon but I wouldn’t trade him in a trade for nasm cadry that makes no sense to me and then obviously a second round pick that is a lot to give up for nasm cadri even at $3.5 million so a little ludicrous that trade yeah I don’t think they’d do it minted for a 34y old cadri one for one at this point let alone the second round pick and Bobby McMahon but I’ll be it let us know down below your thoughts on this do you want to see n Kadri in a Toronto Maple Le uniform and if so why can I package you give up thank you guys for watching see you later
