welcome into the wiltfong whip round with Steve wiltfong I am your host Josh Newberg and today is Thursday December 12th guess what we are diving head first into the transfer portal why not we got Steve wiltfong the number one recruiting Insider in the country and hey if you can recruit it then we’re covering it here on the wiltfong Whipper round you guys sit back for the next 20 30 minutes and covering the transfer portal then we’re jumping right into 2026 all right let’s bring in the great Steve Wilfong and Steve we’re going to start with Colorado because there is a big recruiting weekend lined up in Boulder coach Prime bringing in some big time targets uh what can we expect this weekend at Colorado well here in Colorado we’ll have about six visitors on campus this weekend the Buffalo finished with on Three’s number two rank class out of the transfer portal last cycle they’re going to look for some more magic out of the portal this cycle as well and they got some of their most coveted guys coming out this weekend and they’re hoping that some of them are getting on campus right about the time Travis Hunter is hoisting that Heisman trophy so there’ll be a lot of excitement around that program this weekend as Travis Hunter goes into the Heisman Ceremony as the favorite to bring that honor home Zack Atkins is a tight end from Northwestern Missouri state that this Colorado staff is very high on he’s 6’7 he’s very traits uh can do a lot of things and be versatile he’s someone that um Colorado would certainly love to add one of the most important prospects on campus this weekend Josh is Louisiana Monroe Center Carter Miller someone that can just solidify you at the line of scrimmage they’re going to have some turnover at Colorado this year at quarterback and at key places on the offensive line he is as big a he is as big a priority for Colorado as anyone in the transfer portal couple from Alabama expected out this weekend receiver tight end tight Caleb Odum and defensive tackle Jem Otis Jem Otis is already trending to Colorado on the on3 RPM is our colleague Pete n has predicted him to land in Boulder Caleb Odum was one of the best high school football players in the country his senior year out of Carolton the top Target for Colorado’s quarterback kit Julian Lewis he played a little bit this year for Alabama but looking for greener pastures a guy that has a chance to be a dynamic big play receiver in Colorado’s offense I think that you know we’ve talked in the past Josh about Jillian Lewis and the picture of Sanders handing him the keys on his official visit in that photo and long term that’s obviously the planned for Colorado but to get a veteran guy at quarterback is on the table as well and Liberty’s Kaden Salter has really emerged for Colorado as a guy they’re in on and I’m told he’s going to visit next week he’s already played 35 games uh under Center and has put up some pretty big numbers he’s nearly a 60% passer he’s thrown for nearly 6,000 yards and 56 touchdowns in his college career in 2023 he led Liberty to a 13-1 record and and and they played in a new year six game against Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl so he’s already played in some big games on some big stages and he reinvented himself at Liberty after transferring from Tennessee where he was one of the top high school quarterback prospects in the country he’s going to visit Syracuse this weekend so that’s their competition and I think you know for Colorado they just wanted to get through that visit and get out to Boulder uh because Fran Brown and his staff got a lot to sell on the trail right now too with how they were able to just plug and play Kyle mcord from the portal last year both Colorado and sakes have a chance to win 10 ball games this year if they can win their bowl game so exciting situations for Kaden Salter on opposite sides of the country couple more guys few more guys to to keep an eye out for Colorado this portal season goes their top receiver Target is Kevin KC conception get in line you know he’s at the top of the list for several programs NC State receiver who was the Freshman ACC player of the year two years ago um he’s at Alabama this weekend you got several others but Colorado is a program that’s right there in the thick of it for concepion trying to get him out to campus and then Fresno State defensive lineman Gabriel Lightfoot and Elon Ed rusher cassim more or a couple more guys that Colorado’s high on at the point of attack on defense that they’re in the middle of it for all right it’s going to be a really special weekend out in Boulder I couldn’t imagine being there on a visit as you watch Travis Hunter Hoist the Heisman Trophy uh if if any of these guys are on campus it’s going to be a experience that they they really remember forever whether they end up committing to Colorado or not it’s going to be a special week in Boulder so Colorado fans talk to us who do you think is the most important transfer on campus this weekend let us know comment section below Bill bellich he’s the new head coach at North Carolina and Steve we know the portal is open right players are there for the taking but what do you think will be bill bellich che’s first order of business once he clocks into that new office well that’s actually a loaded question because I do think that uh hand inand will be transfer portal roster retention and recruiting some of the players that didn’t sign and that’s where we will begin with top 100 quarterback coveted instate recruit Bryce Baker who’s been committed to North Carolina for two years but did not sign during the early signing period because of the transition from Matt Brown to the new coach and obviously the new coach now is the legendary Bill bich eight Super Bowl six as a head coach of the New England Patriots and I talked to Bakers Michael about it and he said his son knows about coach bich and any kid would be excited to play for a coach that’s won six Super Bowls and of course his connections to the NFL it’ll be exciting to talk to him see where Bryce fits in with his plays hopefully jump on a zoom call hear him out and make a decision now the baker Camp was adamant that like yes Bill bellich che’s a legend and obviously he would be the one running the program but the time spent will be with the OC and the quarterback’s coach so who are those guys connecting with them getting a feel for for those potential uh coordinator and and quarterback coach that he’s going to be spending a lot more time with than just hanging out down in Bill bich che’s office or at least that that’s their impression of it right now so uh he loves North Carolina that’s been the vision for two years BR Bryce is about relationships and and he said what’s more important in your head coaches who’s going to be your OC and that’s going to have to be bridged quickly and have that trust in the meantime he visited Penn State at the end of November he’d been talking to the Penn State Staff All Fall so there’s a trust with with Danny O Brian and and James Franklin and Coach C Micky he sees the vision for how he would be utilized in Penn State’s offense and then LSU is still in the thick of this one too for Bryce Baker so but he’s always envisioned himself wearing that Tar Hill blue playing in state for that program for m brown there’s been some change they’re excited to get to know Bill bich and company moving forward and see if he’s a fit for them I’m interested to see their approach on the trail Josh I think that they’re certainly going to pour a lot of resources into the evaluation side to um you know make sure that they’re taking high-end prospects that have the developmental upside in their program uh so it’ll be interesting to see their approach in 2026 and Beyond once they get this Army of recruiting staff in there uh led by uh coach Lombardi there who’s already even named the general manager yeah and when we talk about Bryce Baker and this decision and getting to know coach bellich and and and also these other staffs like aen State and LSU he’s not making a final decision in the coming days or even in a week or two right he has until February so technically I mean he could spend some time on campus with Coach belich he could get back to Penn State other teams could possibly get involved there’s some meat left on this bone of the Bryce Baker recruitment right yeah I think he’d like to enroll early so that puts that deadline up into early January so taking a visit to LSU and then when there’s a coaching change you’re able to take an official visit back to a program so he’s got another official visit in play for North Carolina if he wants to utilize it in that capacity as well okay sorry on whip followers we’re playing hurt today I mean so the juice is strong but the uh energy is lower hey you’re doing great you know like just like in football you’re not always playing at 100% you’re at like 50 now but hey you’re out here and you are playing um yeah so for those confused about the Bryce Baker what we’re saying is yes there are signing Windows in which you can sign but you can also just enroll yeah you don’t have to sign anything you can just enroll and that is binding so Bryce Baker if he doesn’t want to sign well he did not sign in the early period he can certainly just walk on campus and enroll at a school of his choice no problem all right so before we get out of this UNCC segment uh the bill belich hiring was announced yesterday afternoon you’ve already been on the phone with recruits what’s the recruit reaction to bill bellich being a head coach of the UNCC Tar Heels yeah Chad Simmons and I our colleague talked to some of the top recruits in the country some of the top players in state and in that region about coach bich and their excitement and and J Jared Curtis you know the number one quarterback in the country out of Tennessee the programs linked to him right now Oregon Georgia Tennessee excuse me not Tennessee Oregon Georgia South Carolina um Ohio State old miss you name it they’re they’re all coming after yeah Old Miss in there for Jared Curtis but I talked to Jared Curtis yesterday arguably the the greatest coach of all time definitely want to get up there and meet him I think that they’re goingon to be able to attract the best in the country to come see what Chapel Hill is all about with Bill bich and that corner office Jackson kwell uh you know the number one offensive tackle the number one player in the OD three industry rankings told Chad Simmons that is a blockbuster hire if I’ve ever seen one but from Top 100 offensive lineman Darius gray to instate fourstar offensive lineman Leo Delaney I mean there is just a lot of Buzz about coach belich and these young men are excited to get up there and meet him in person and see what changes are going to be happening around this program yeah hey college football not just UNC fans but college football fans talk to us what do you make of the bill bellich hiring do you think it’s going to be a success let us know comment section Below Auburn transfer portal QB recruiting is heating up we knew the Tigers we’re going to take a big swing at some big names so let’s get into it and we’ll start with two that have been trending a lot of a lot of chatter in the middle of this week with Malik Murphy and Jackson Arnold Steve what’s the latest between these two well Auburn’s at the Forefront of both of those young men’s transfer portal processes Malik Murphy got on the planes on Wednesday night Jackson Arnold expected there on Thursday and I think it’s obvious that Auburn is one of the programs that’s invested the most in landing a transfer portal quarterback I think that they’re going to put a lot of bandwidth infrastructure and resources into landing one of these quarterbacks and working these stories with Pete Nikos and I there has been some positive Buzz regarding Auburn and Jackson Arnold but let’s not sleep on Malik Murphy and Auburn as well they are definitely one of his favorite programs as well coming into this visit and I think Auburn the you know talking to coach H freeze when I visited the PLS during the fall you know listening to him throughout the season in press conferences quarterback is at the Forefront of his mind and his crosshairs two of the best in the portal on campus backtack days and Auburn’s going to do what they got to do to try and one of these talented signal callers now it’s interesting because there’s a lot of Buzz obviously quarterbacks are expensive Josh yeah uh there was a lot of Buzz right when the portal opened you know on Monday I know Monday to Wednesday feels like three weeks but on Monday Stanford quarterback transfer Ashton Daniels was trending to Auburn there were some picks rolling in for him to end up there but you know obviously there’s a couple developments that have happened what do you think’s going on now with Ashton Daniels in Auburn is that still a thing yeah I think so with all the fluidity with Auburn’s depth chart right with Payton Thorne exhausting his eligibility Hank Brown going into the portal yes you have du snight coming in a five-star true freshman but you need depth competitive depth in that room to play the type of caliber schedule in the league that Auburn’s in Ashton Daniels is a veteran he’s from the state of Georgia he won three state championships at Buford High School and I’m under the impression that he’s just trying to get back closer to home and is not afraid to go into Auburn and compete with a more high-profile name perhaps uh in in the fall so yes we like where Auburn stands there does that is he a lock you know we’ll see what continues to happen you know obviously Malik Murphy and Jackson Arnold are at the Forefront but Auburn would like to take two quarterbacks out of the portal yeah it’ll be real interesting to see kind of how this game of musical chairs at the Auburn quarterback position ultimately plays out but I think this week is very telling with the these guys coming in for visits all right uh quarterback not the only big swing that Auburn’s taking they are also heavily involved with the number one ranked option in the portal that’s wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr from Georgia Tech highly covered what’s the latest on his recruitment well if you go to on three.com right now Josh you’ll see Pete neos’s article with the best guest for some of the top players in the portal and he has Auburn right now as the program he would give the edge to now you have Old Miss and several others that are going to try and provide some some competition here for Singleton but this is the guy that’s caught over a 100 passes already in his college career close to 1500 yards receiving nine touchdowns um coming off a good sophomore season as well for Georgia Tech as they uh you know had a very exciting campaign Auburn’s got a lot of talented young pass catchers in their room so there is a standard if you want to come play receiver for Auburn right now you have to be really good no one better in the portal than Eric Singleton Jr they’re in the thick of it for this one coming off a visit this week getting them on campus around these quarterbacks that he could potentially play with out of the portal also a nice little uh maneuver for Coach freezing company I do like that little relationship building out on the planes Auburn fans talk to Steve and I right now who is your number one target at quarterback let us know comment section below let’s talk a little LSU recruiting and of course we’re going straight to the transfer portal and it’s been busy for the Tigers in this video we’re going to focus on DB and wide receiver two major positions of Need for LSU and one of the names that’s been buzzing all around the country is the number one safety in the porter Dylan thean uh we know Oregon’s heavily involved here Ohio State as well is LSU getting in on this one Steve they’re trying to the National defensive freshman of the year two years ago after six interceptions in its first season at Purdue had another Sol solid year for Purdue this year under the circumstances of their their tough campaign but this is a kid that’s a plus athlete that flies to the football that’s also a 4.0 student in the classroom uh on the college level so he has all the tangibles and intangibles desired Oregon and Ohio State look like the Front Runners right now certainly coach Odum and that new staff will do what they can to keep Dylan the inum on campus he’s got a lot of Purdue ties in his family and a lot of love for the boilers he could have went in the portal last year but opted to stay at Purdue going to visit Oregon in Ohio State soon having dialogue with LSU so the the tigers are one of the few schools that are in the mix after the Ducks and Buckey all right another DB that it looks like LSU is trending for is UF transfer jaem Jackson and I think I understand why explain this one yeah jaem Jackson former Florida cornerback visiting LSU as we speak uh this Thursday morning strong Report with Cory Raymond that was his position coach of Florida seen with transition potentially at LSU Shay Dixon from the Bengal tiger Pete nichlas and I all collabing on a prediction of jacem Jackson to LSU so we love where the Tigers stand all right now we said we were going to cover the offensive side of the ball as well so let’s get into it with a former five star what’s going on with Micah Hudson know there’s been some A&M smoke but is LSU involved here yeah they absolutely are he was at A&M earlier this week and a lot of Buzz that says Texas A&M took control of that recruitment but he’s maintaining dialogue with some other programs LSU one of them receivers obviously a position of emphasis for LSU they bring back maybe the top quarterback in the country next year in NM you kind of look at jayen Daniels Joe burrow their second year as starters in Baton Rouge were obviously special campaigns on their way to the Heisman Trophy I may lay down a little bit of money on nus me try and catch early odds on him and the Heisman Trophy coming into the season because he showed a lot of flashes last year in his first year as the starter and they want to put some some Playmakers around and Baran Brown from Kentucky is an electric player that’s expected to visit LSU on Thursday here as we record I think LSU is the leader over ol Miss in Texas A&M right now for Barry and brown you have Nick Anderson who’s also a top 10 player in the portal the receiver he was at he’s at Texas A&M uh this weekend and coming to LSU on Sunday so the tigers weigh in it for some of the best transfer portal receivers in tight end too lcas is the Arkansas tight end transfer who was started his week at LSU hitting Alabama then going to Old Miss talk to some people that think that LSU is in an intriguing spot for Luke hos and then Max CLA is the number one tight end in the portal or at least he was yesterday Purdue transfer LSU having dialogue with him trying to get him on campus all right
