Trevor Lawrence update so Aziz alyer hit Trevor Lawrence in the head after Lawrence slid at the end of the six- yard scramble late in the first half Evan Ingram retaliated against al Shyer and that sparked the first of two fights between the teams now Jags quarterback Lawrence took to social media to update fans saying thank you to everyone who’s reached out who’s been praying for me I’m home I’m feeling better it means a lot thank you all earlier this morning I’ll Sher apologized to Lawrence via social media Shay talk to me apy accepted but that was a dirty play I think the NFL is going to step in I think they’re going to suspend him for at bare minimum a one game probably too um they’re trying to get away from stuff like this and I get him play where you know sometimes we saw Patrick Mahomes he stuttered and like he was going to go out of bounds and he take off and he gets him in field goal range Trevor Lawrence in the middle of the field the man goes to a slide and what makes it so egregious is he does this he leades with the forearm and we saw uh uh the posture at the head yeah that that Trevor Lawrence laid on the field with yeah this is what they’re trying to get away from Stephen A John Rion is not going to take County to this because they trying to protect the quarterback and and I I I don’t know why they called uh the penalty on Evan Ingram I don’t know what the NFL thought he was going to do and look look come on bro yeah yeah you lead with the forearm and that’s the one you got the brace on you lead with that so it intent people I want you to understand intent only matters to Al Shakir yeah because Trevor Lawrence is still unconscious whether he meant to do it or not right yeah yeah he going to get suspended for a minimum of one game I’m thinking possibly too yeah I shout out to Evan Ingram because Evan Ingram was all over him that would that like in that moment going to protect his teammate I agree I think a suspension’s on the table I think a fine is on the table um I think the two things that stand out that everyone needs to understand is the the main reason why or one of the main re reasons why we’ve gone as a league extreme to the quarterbacks and protecting them is we all want the the elite quarterbacks to be playing and also moms and dads don’t want their sons and daughters watching those injuries on the field because the 8-year-olds who watched the NFL grew up to be the 30-year-olds who watched the NFL so if you’re not if if it’s we don’t I would to want my son or daughter to watch that then that’s why that’s part of the reason why the rules or play that yeah exactly that’s part of the reason why the rules are where they are the second thing is this I do think it’s important for quarterbacks to really take it upon themselves and by no means am I pinning this on Trevor Lawrence at all I that to be clear the sliding doesn’t it it more it more exposes you to those hits it really needs to become an emphasis something that coaches coach you practice shann and Stephen a mly diving when you dive you protect yourself from those hits you it’s like it’s almost like an unathletic stumble you want to stumble now open field no one around you slide go ah itad but if you get in close proximity it’s a dive to make sure that you’re not taking those shots any anymore I do think that that’s something the quarterbacks as a whole have to start doing the quarterback and I before I get to my point I’ll ask you both this question real quickly the quarterback or the league as it pertains to the question that he just asked because according to my understanding you know you’re diving you’re still susceptible to getting hit and they can hit you because you’re trying to gain as opposed to protect yourself when you’re protecting yourself you’re sliding when you’re diving you’re trying to get extra you get and you don’t get protection in that way so again that’s a league issue in my mind more so than a quarterback issue because you’re saying the league should then if the quarterback Dives protect yeah there you go because that that’s why that and they and the can’t because we see so many quarterbacks di for the End Zone see Josh Allen so that he’s diving like that point and and and when Trevor Lawrence goes into a baseball slide he said I give up right right Fair Point you got to go over the top of him you got to what we used to call I don’t know if y’all did it monkey roll you got to roll over the top of the guy but you definitely can’t leave with ja for and hit the guy up the CH no question and I’m going say this it should be an automatic two game suspension first of all runan he ain’t going to be the only one to make decision I can assure you I can assure you it’s coming from above it’s there’s no way you can let AA get away with this you know he has to be punished severely for that because you have to provide a disincentive for doing what he did I want to also throw this and I and I’ll tell you this is a funny story because me and my nonf football I mean I’m I’m arguing with Ray Lewis one time the great Ray Lewis his years ago years ago when he was here right I mean you you think touching Shannon I almost broke my damn hand just touching Shannon one time I mean did Ray Lewis I mean this brothers made a sudden different man of steal you understand and I remember he and I got into a friendly argument because he kept talking about it’s a man this these are men out here playing Demi why why you because he was so disgusted with the league rules against the defense and I would say to him Ray why you acting like somebody jumped in your fa in your face and you get an opportunity to throw up your hands and it’s it’s mono imano I mean that’s not what this is if a brother is protect is standing in the pocket or whatever I mean it’s not like he’s faced up against you he has to absorb all that you bring into him it’s it’s and I and even though it’s somewhat different because Trevor Lawrence was running with the ball he slid he gave himself up I’m looking at these cats and I’m like really guys it’s not like it’s some receiver that’s been talking trash to you you sitting up there bump and run y’all sitting up there flexing against one another and then you have an opportunity to Cave his chest in and you did it no there’s a quarterback that’s slid and you’re going to do something like that you’re wondering the mindset I understand that you’re out there trying to make some noise and trying to get a big time hit but you’re looking at this cat and you’re saying to yourself what are you thinking about and then to get up and fight with everybody you know knowing that you’re wrong as you pointed out and really being as demonstrative as he was like he was righteous see that becomes it becomes even more problematic when that happen there have been times I could you could easily take somebody out of the field if you don’t like somebody right so it’s really easy to do oh I you I can get my lick back if I really if that’s what I really wanted to do and I can make it look like a plate because you know we allowed to cut in NFL so but the thing is guys and Dan you know this I don’t I’m not trying to take food off anybody’s table because I don’t want nobody to take food off mine I want you to have a roof I know you got people that you need to a wife a fiance or family members that you that you need to take care of and my job is to make sure I allow you to do that with than doing my job but not being dirty about it now I’m going now I’m going be honest with you I’m going to have to get my lick back against one of his teammates oh yeah why one of his teammates as opposed to him no cuz he gone got you the weird thing is I’ve sat with him before for Monday Night Football and production meetings Al Shire and he’s he at least in those moments great oh play defense you got to have a switch no I know but you know what I’m saying like he never came across as that type of person and maybe this is a oneoff but um it doesn’t look good as a as as a fan watching the sport I never forget the other you know when Tua suffered that concussion against Buffalo and you had the players literally saying we were screaming at him to get down get down cuz we know we got to do what we got to do but they will let you know none of us want to hurt and we know how fragile he is we got to play we got to do our jobs but but but we don’t want to hurt him and you’re looking at the game today you I’m like do you understand what kind of damage you do when you are out there and you exercise that kind of behavior wasn’t good he has to be suspended at least a yeah I I I think I think at bare minimum Sten that he’s getting the game possibly too I I don’t think it go above two should go grateful it wasn’t serious Trevor Lawrence shouldn’t go above two but it should be two and because the look at it the posturing that he had the
