π΅οΈββοΈ Transcript:
is a much more slender feline nowadays Kristoff lamber who breaks off and a typically excellent Kristoff lambar break keep a little bit loose than what he’d prefer but all the power is there and he does get the opening chance here in frame number one we didn’t really talk about Kristoff when we were out in the out in the studio but he’s a player that doesn’t get talked about as much for tournament victories as he should obviously he he has been a Pro Series champion he’s been the best player in France for a long time and he is there or thereabouts and I think he’s due another another title and because of everything we said about Tom cousins and coming over from America and and having to chop and change games I think he’s got an opportunity here to to really steal a march on him and okay Tom’s always going to be the but I don’t think it actually plays out that way here in this particular match yeah there’s may be a case to be made for some potential smart money on Kristoff in this one I think so although he does have a challenging layout to start with if he can get straight in on the one nearest to the right hand cushion don’t go in off oh he’s going to be angled though yeah I mean what difference a roll makes if he a roll further left he can just drop it in and then at least one of the two red above the eight ball goes to bottom left corner and now he’s in trouble he’s fully in trouble here yeah you can see the one nearest the triangle line or he can just get to the couple by the eightball that’s a big help so you can maybe play safety here oh well he went full blooded brave but with an element of knowing the cuble would stay sort of where it was he’s actually had a result unless there’s a gap to the one in the triangle area which there might be here I think there is I think I think it goes to left Center in which case Tom has a fairly routine out well we we’d say ordinarily it’s a fairly routine out for Tom cousins the way he approaches the game the way he makes and has made these finishes look so easy but I would put it to you that this one just in the first frame here is a tester gets the first shot right though and it’s almost margin on every single shot and he hasn’t quite got it right in terms of now he’s just going to have to find a qball whether he takes the one right center or the one at the bottom of the table but once he gets in line he shouldn’t have any issues even though he’s coming off a you know as we talked about struggling with the Q ball a little bit yesterday well he had him on the uh in Santa’s Grotto after his match with Mark Fleming yesterday and it was interesting Tom was was quite visibly not shaken that would would be overstating it but was like yeah I really didn’t feel comfortable and played really bad out there so pleased to get the win but sort of know what I’ve now got to do and he said his plan was today to to wake up early and and go put a couple of hours in on one of the outside tables just to get his feel back one of the things that I do really like about these uh r on Apollo tables the reports that we’ve had from from the players is the sort of the Gap from outside table to Arena table a shrunk yes which is I think a huge thing for a big Tour event like this I think it’s what we all want to see is all the all the tables playing the same and we want all conditions to be the same we’re not quite there you know we’re probably you know ultimate ball are doing great things in the game but we’re not there yet but certainly moving towards it but Tom obviously you know a lot of players come here and you know it’s a hobby you know it’s a they obviously want to win but it’s a hobby Tom’s this is Tom job this is business so of course he’s going to get up early and stay late to do whatever he has to do to get himself in the best shape to to play well job done in frame one for Tom [Music] cousins well Stephen you said it wouldn’t be long before he changed he’s changed straight away how about that huge power to be fair it wasn’t that big a change he still come with the cut break it just seems to just seemed to get a little bit more bite on it just meant the CU went into the the pack area a little bit higher but he hasn’t got the best of layouts here I don’t believe the red is potable at the top left I think the yellow blocks it The Two Reds at the bottom are awkward so and if he goes yellows does the one below the eightball pot probably but there isn’t much room and then you’ve obviously got the one right at the top of the table so both sets have problems and that hasn’t quite come out as Tom cousins would have liked which means he can manufacture this plant I think it’d have to catch the the first red quite quite thin Maybe half ball maybe even quarter ball which takes the Q ball up the table leaves a red down the [Music] table that’s exactly what’s happened so now it’s a case of how does he deal with the red by the yellow is there enough room and then where’s the eight ball going probably can get enough running side on the red to top left to come off the top cushion and half ball the yellow which solves the the red top left just got too much side in but it’s come out okay he wanted the yellow only not the red not exactly a bad result though yeah it’s just about okay still has the problem with the eight ball though I don’t know whether he can if he can po the one to top left now and and really play it slowly enough to let it grip with spin can he come off the side cushion and just get into it I just don’t think so I think it’s too [Music] thin so playing it twice across that brilliant that is absolutely brilliant shot of the match so far how close to the yellow did he have to get there and it could not come out better yeah super shot from Top capat he’s got a little bit of work to do here though mileage with the key Ball but there is space for it I think he’d like to have come down further but I think probably more than anything else he decided to stay high rather than it being a short positional shot just means he has to find the line here a it’s a decent sized Gap but it’s the yellows are in play this is just this has been the best visit in the match so far it really has yeah high level had to work very hard first three four shots but he was always working he didn’t didn’t do anything easy until they’re open he’ll keep trying that is fabulous terrific Tom cousins 31 leads just makes it slightly trickier still expect him to oh he’s going to go in and move them really surprised at that he had two plants available in there both of them getable and both of them would have allowed him to unfold but he decided to play in and it’s really not worked at all yeah he’s now in a bit of trouble he still has a shot but I think there may be a safety coming here or is [Music] there oh Christof you naughty boy that’s excellent shot he might take another one here he might take the one he’s next to to the bottom left corner it it’s jabby and awkward and horrible but if he pots it then he’s pretty good to win the frame from it yeah think he he’s absolutely straight so it’s not as bad as I first thought oh it’s good this now do you play into the red here or do you play on the the red and try and control them I think there’s value in just screwing into the red moving it down the table could have done with it Fuller that’s awkward now if he catches it full he stays on the red to top right but the red he’s just moved would be nearer the right center pocket and that becomes his connection to the eight ball now he’s got to play some really good shots here he’s telling us he likes the double you’d have to come twice across to get onto the the red and the eight ball’s in the way of that so it might have to be the double this has the poti IAL to make my uh oh Christmas nauy list if Kristoff gets out from here we’ve been we have been treated so far I think there’s quite a lot going on with this shot I wonder whether he could just follow it and and get behind the eightball but the way he was lining the QQ ball up there I don’t think he [Music] can oh he’s short he’s going to kick out it I think he should he’ll go close to kicking at it you know it’s it’s quite controllable and it’s it’s the only way to sign off this finish it really is oh this would be disgusting yeah Kristoff is a fabulous doubler and kicker he really is he is one of the best on the series for me he’s looking at the uh he’s looking at a kick double his left s pocket I think oh he got it oh he got it well Kristoff Lamb with a little bit of V Voom for us on the pro series that is a disgraceful finish outrageous just truly outrageous was cut breaking them now it is front ball what a break and it’s perfect that’s the best break I’ve ever seen Tom putting a six red oh look at this just over hit that one but this is still unbelievably good is there anything he can’t do is there anything he can’t do what a six red shootout from Tom cousins we now need to get the record books out that might be the second quickest ever he’s been down once before he’s recovered can he pull off one last Great Escape it’s a great break he couldn’t could he it’s the perfect oh if that red go went to bottom left it would have been perfect and he could have done this is still very close this is very very close l no [Applause] astonishing absolutely astonishing was trying to play with a lot of s and get over even there into it that always looked like an askk the only thing was I suppose playing that with the left hand side some ways made the pot easier or at least didn’t make it more difficult so maybe was worth a try decent layout for Jimmy got the one obviously that’s tied up with the plant but can play either a cannon into it or be an easy loss of turn can play the key ball tight into the red that’s on the left cushion or safe at the top of the table leave Jack with no kind of shot yeah you could get be sort of to the side of it and play the pl put the keyo behind that red as well leave him completely snooker feel like that is is the shot unless he lands a perfect angle to break it out pretty much guaranteed sneer played like that I think this is what he’s going to do now just play off the side of this and try and put the keyb behind the red knock in the yellow in op to for the other way either or was good enough the side off the bottom rail now for Jack bit more than that I thought he might play a little bit softer I think you needed to play it a bit softer for the side to take played at that pace it’s it’s an ask to Swerve off a cushion spin isn’t really taking effect so he just bounces off kind of straight so Jimmy croon with what looks like a pretty simple finish to level up here at the Grand Hotel in Blackpool as well that red King KN further down the table so natural position onto the eight ball lot of time used up for these first two frames 15 minutes gone already yeah Jimmy had to really dig into the key on that last shot to kill the pace judged it nicely not entirely convincing by either player but signs of them both playing well just need to get a bit more consistency going so now this has just been made I know cut of notches harder only rolling though Jim he’s back in position yeah I mean very often it’s just in case of trying to make life easier to reduce the chance of a mistake now got another one where you know imagine a problem but he is dead straight pretty much on this yellow so just has to think a bit more carefully about position feels a little bit like the play have quickened up a little bit now as well just I was about to say the standard’s Risen there’s Jimmy s himself these last two balls yeah I mean I just think this has been sort of building up for a couple of shots again Mark he has spakes and area to get that cubble past the red and the black play it firmer and it’s just it’s very gentle trying to be too precise maybe think right if I screw into that area and get past that red there’s no problem even if you went too far up you got the other yellow you could be be on as well so you know just for me a tad caress Jimmy will probably Slaughter me for it but I shall stand by my guns with that well you yeah you’ve got to say it’s careless in the context of the match because he had a great chance to go three all instead of which by giving away ball in hand he’s allowing Jack onto the only difficult ball on the table very likely to find himself 4-2 [Music] down often that’s the goal of positional players just take out finishes in a way that you don’t leave yourself the chance of a mistake [Music] little heavy there was a bit heavy should still be okay it’s just like this in a way that is missable would expect him to miss it but it’s not 100 out of 100 from that position nice nudge that was a perfect little half ball nudge into that red hear that now because that’s just connecting now to the three Reds at the bottom of the table those two Reds are available available in the bottom right so he just you see where he wants to Cable if you get the keyboard there he’s he’s got choice of position then and the frame’s dead and this is a big big and important frame at this stage of the match this is for a two-frame lead and you see the clock we under 1550 minutes now so this is huge for Jack yeah he played a really good shot that one along the top rail showing signs of playing well feels like he’s just a ball or two away from really being in the right Zone it’s going to be quickly forgotten though if he can get this to 42 clock’s going to be running down o just wonder he not stuck to that yellow surely not I think he’s got just enough for him he can pop that red into the into the cor and send the keable into the black ball hold for the red yeah he lucky the black is where it is cuz that makes the easier oh got away with one there yeah it really has it’s not played around that side of it at all he hits that thicker he Sno you know you want us to just pop straight into it you know full ball and this could be you know playing in China with you know a bigger tip whatever obviously different Siz balls you know this is the thing when you jump from one to the other you control with this game well I think it’s then becomes a lot harder some of it guess work but he’s okay and now has a simple black ball for a 42 lead well 42 it is didn’t look entirely convincing both players it was the same kind of thing just didn’t quite seem to have the keyb 6 minutes and a second on the clock so still time for Jimmy croxton to Stage his comeback is going to be dry it is Jimmy’s out of his seat Well you don’t get many dry breaks from Jack wheen could this be the chance that Jimmy needs it’s not an easy one but be happy to get back to the table must win frame here for Jimmy croon is going to play this plant down here red yellow red corner made it but he’s ended up stuck behind it the ready Struck it will go into the top right hand corner that’s got the legs I think it’s going to die on him just because the Cuba was very very close to that ball he’s sort of flicked it a little bit probably a bit worried about where the keyo came back towards his tip you got to quite awkward to get the Q Q sorry your queue out of the way when you play that shot so a bit of clock management now I think for Jack wheelen yeah he’s not in a rush to do anything that’s for sure Jimmy needs two more frames the fact that there’s only four and a half minutes remaining if a couple of minutes were to get used up messing around here that will be very much in Jack’s favor you jack would quite like that little cluster Reds all stuck together at top Jim’s going to try and open them up and he has done oh that’s turned out pretty good oh well I say it’s turned out pretty good it has it’s turned out very good if you can play the plant along the top rail you can he’s got an angle to get into the ball the shot after this can play the ball over well either of the two balls remaining and Cannon out or just drop in behind the plant up to the top right play it now can’t play it after because you pushing the second red get run a chance of not getting on it this is pretty natural as well just roll this in be able to see the one over the middle pocket well we’re seen a bit of drama here later on from what was a pretty timid and tepid counter to start with is now turning into some bit of excitement uh starting to build in this match Jimmy cron now to make this 5-4 this will be two in a row in quick smart fashion much better from croon well does Jimmy throw his arm at this red that’s on the bottom cushion try and pot it somewhere if he doesn’t I don’t think he can get out in time oh effort that was that was some effort if that ball drops they’re all there for him yeah he was unlucky there Jimmy that was very very close to being an incredible shot we tried to bump the red Center keable into the red over the middle and knock it in he has run out of time now though there’s going to be no comeback from Jimmy croxton see Jack Wheeling there looking around at the clock behind him making Short play to try and get the plant on the rail e know there sending send a ball around the table to actually eat up extra couple of seconds good thinking as well key ball still spinning Jimmy can’t even play doesn’t make any difference obviously in the end well Jimmy sees the funny side of it War handshake at the end of the match it’s a match that took a long time to get going neither player really settled down in the early going very slow first frame very slow next couple of frames but then when it got G it turned into a good match in the endson played his part in it a good chance to come back into it I think it’s played fairly normally I it seems to have yeah maybe not as Lightning quick I mean that when we were here in the summer it was very hot that probably naturally does make it play a shade quicker LC has a monstrous break for a a smaller guy he really does get some power into the pack leaves a couple of yellows hanging but no luck nothing drops dry break Dean with the first opportunity in this match one of the players of the Season Dean Brenan behind Tom cousins in the rankings but who isn’t and second to Tom has had the best season Tom cousins lead at the top of the rankings is absurd came into this weekend 18,000 ranking points clear of Declan which to put in context there three complete tournament wins and there’s also more points than all four people have scored in the entire season tan though got to be happy with his season’s work the last couple of years by his own very high standards being a little bit quiet but normal service very much resumed over the last last few months quarterfinals starting to shape up we know that Kristoff lambar is through having won that incredible six red shootout against Tom cousins that one already doing the rounds on social media if you didn’t catch it earlier please make sure you go navigate to the uh ultimate pool Facebook page and take a look at that six red because it is quite something to see um he is waiting for the win of Eddie Barker and Craig woodingham who um have been going for quite some time well over an hour over on table 3 uh 36 in the corner of the pro room they’re five each currently um Sean Cheri we know is through and he will play Greg Batton and even though you might say has he transitioned back to this cuz he’s just lost in in this tournament I mean he he’s played really well already in this tournament I don’t think there was any don’t think it was a transition problem I think it was Kristoff lambar problem he just played super well today yeah it’s obviously going to go down as the year of Tom cousins regardless of what happens but Dean’s number two in the rankings if he was to snap off a tournament to end the season that would be phenomenal 2024 for him I’m thinking this red must it must pass the yellow into the bottom left because he’s trying to land on it once and he’s going to try and land on it again I think he oh well it might not now that tiny flick on the yellow I think has cost him if he gets past the yellow here he’s okay yeah so he’s going to have to go cushion first into the back of the yellow and this is high tariff yeah this yellow’s a long way from the pocket to play this shot but what else can he do I’m not even sure the angles there to to get into the back of the yellow good effort yeah had to play it firmly as well to give it a chance but that was never easy just creates a little bit of work for for Luke and that he puts the red across in front of the eight ball so just something there for Luke to do in terms of landing on that eight ball or moving the red or moving the eight he’s left it for for de to move play the snooker well I assume it’s unless he’s had some kind of kick there or something because I I felt he was going for the pot yeah I agree like instinctively it felt like he was never playing the sneaker no because because actually why would you because you know it gives it gives it gives deck a great chance to well yeah playing a snooker wasn’t the wrong shot but I think you’d probably play the ball above it because you’d want to develop that I don’t think he just missed that that badly I mean maybe he did but um you could see where as he was laughing as the camera pound him maybe it just went wrong either way is sometimes the case you do something unexpected and it can turn out for the best well that’s not turned out for the best he was trying to Cannon that yellow full and set it up for the middle pocket yeah you might see him play a snooker here yeah if he develops the top one of these two yellows on the left hand side plays a sneaker that’s going to be fairly positive shot that’s fine yeah that was that was definitely the percentage shot there cuz he was taking on quite a a high tariff po if he went for it and if he if he didn’t get it he opened the table so I think developing his balls there and leaving Dean a spot bother was the order of the day and this I mean it’s not the easiest ball to pop because the eight ball just is just and just in the line that’s why he came off two cushions it was just in the line of the of the up and down to come down and hit the hit the potting angle of that red you had to almost shave the eight ball so came off two cushions just flicks the red to make room for the eight ball to pass into that pocket did the right thing there was always going to have to play some kind of Cannon onto that yellow so committed to playing a positive shot and now he’s got plenty of angle to come around for the eight ball there’s never going to be much to choose between these players but Le Gilbert that’s gone ahead two frames to the good now leads by three frames to one wouldn’t you know it that’s amazing he’s hit those so much better but come up dry don’t he can believe it what Dean got is he got an opener on reds don’t know if he can get through the Gap he’s obviously got an opro on yellows but you got the two yellows on the on the left cushion locked up yeah the reds are slightly more open but I say I don’t think he can get through to a red may just be to get through this Gap to the one over the middle deciding he had another look at it he decided that he can’t and uh he really doesn’t like the yellows there’s two at the bottom of the table not appealing to him that two yellow cluster together so it g butt dry break but does have a chance I think the problem with those two yellows on the left is there’s only really one ball that you can use to develop them see yellow the middle of the table um and even if you use that they’re not guaranteed to come out Luke taking on a uh a tough plant on reds yeah that was a big shot yeah I mean his options were limited it wasn’t like there were loads of Alternatives but that could be costly now cuz Dean’s got what he wanted which is clear shot at the first red still a little bit of work to do on heads I mean they’re not they’re not just a a series of drop-ins quite a lot of traffic in and around the middle of the table and then you do have that red just below the left hand side cushion the one just above those two yellows it won’t double deciding FR would had a bit of tension would it somehow in decided he never seem to have a really easy clearance there’s always something to be done he’s got an angle now he could he could punch across I don’t think he will I don’t think he needs to to to develop it I think he can po this oh he did he did try oh that’s a great shot I think he had the natural angle to come across so he took it was going to be easier than trying to land on it but that’s a super shot wasn’t a guaranteed result though was it could have knocked it safe or knock the key ball into the cluster of yellows great chance now so we hear the chime for the 10-minute mark That’s not going to be a very relevant Factor plenty of time left in the match relevant only so far play a little bit quicker down to the 15sec shot clock [Music] used to leave the right angle here think he’s think he’s okay I think he’s just straight enough that he can he can top through kind of played as a stun run through this has been really good from Dean 64 down like he was almost out of the match but just hung on in there and now he’s workless chance to potentially get over with the winning line and put that place in the quarterfinals Luke’s going to be annoyed though isn’t he he’s going to be super annoyed oh wow hang on hang on though this has suddenly got very very difficult oh that was careless wasn’t it this is going to be a huge black now this is so missable oh how good is this off the yellow very good very good wow what a finish great stuff but as we say Luke’s going to feel pretty disappointed there he’s 6’4 up um is his break that’s led him down but that was such a special match with with Tom cousins and it’s it’s one of those matches where you sort of you have them in all kinds of sport where you it ends up and you say that was incredible what a shame there had to be a loser because for all the amazing things that Kristoff lamber did Tom cousins was just as good I mean he’s Miss he’s missed out essentially on place in the Round Here by .9 seconds after lampooning in an 18 second six red shootout I mean just an awesome awesome match and what one of my favorite matches I’ve commentated on in a very very long time I’m going to I’m going to let it sort of marinade and and think about it over the course of the next sort of few weeks and months and maybe in the New Year I’ll think actually that really was right up there for one of my favorite matches in in ultimate pool history I think it was I think it was that good but I’m not going to open myself up to any recency bias it was it was match of the year without question for me that I’ve seen um but as for as for the alltime statuses what we’ll let it just sit for a minute and and enjoy it before we go too far but incredible match and I mean you know from your own experiences as a player Tony when you have those sorts of huge euphoric minor victories actually it can become a little after the Lord mayor show with your next match even though in theory it’s a bigger one it’s a quarterfinal how difficult is it going to be for Kristoff to almost recover from that huge High well the energy and adrenaline that that sort of match sucks out of you it it to get it back again you know in how long ago was it about four hours ago when they they finished and less than that about about so they they probably finished round about this time two and a half three hours ago yeah I mean you know generally if you playing like the World Championships European Championship you had a win like that you wouldn’t play till the next day so you could go and dine out on it for the day and sort of skip around the town and tell everybody did you see my match but there there’s not a lot lot of time to prepare for Kristoff and it’s sort of get back on the horse again immediately and off you go again now that’s going to be a test and a and a and a you know of the strength of the man inside and I’ve known Kristoff a long long time and you know the man has made a steal he really is and I was lucky cuz I came in I came in quite early for cuz I was on the second game today and I I came in I was with you in this commentary Bo obviously watching you and your goodself and Simon uh describing the action and I couldn’t believe with my eyes what I was ining thinking I so jealous I thought why am I not on that game um but no it’s in incredible stuff and well first time to properly talk about the action in the frame kristov lined everything up it’s been a pristine visit so far to the table from Kristoff and in lining that shot up he knew it was tight he had a good look at it went to sneak around the back of the yellow just got it wrong can he recover the situation he’s got to dig into this I think to avoid that yellow now Embraces it is he going to have a shot he’s got a shot but how’ you like these to go one n in front he’s looking at this this cut and it’s it’s ridiculously thin I mean does it cut I think it does but it’s it’s really really thin yeah you can but it’s take the paint off the ball thin it’s a bacon slicer oh he’s got it how about it does that answer your question how he’s feeling at the moment wow nice split but he’s don’t going to have any friends it will be the Frenchman that comes to the table with the first opportunity in this fifth frame we’ll have another look at Craig’s dry break Kristoff is going to have to sort of have a little reset now after been parked in his chair for a couple of frames oh my word and that is not what the were ordered there just a weird shot from Kristoff cuz look where the C balls going I don’t think it’s particularly helpful for him I don’t think it’s necessarily going to be frame defining I think there’s more to say in this one but yeah not not the best shot at all really has his mind gone for a Wonder while he’s been sat there watching Craig clear up possibly sort of you’ve go into sort of autopilot mode and just sort of go through the motions for a frame or two and it’s if you start that going to be in trouble because after the start Kristoff had it certainly has got Craig WAMS full attention as he played a little swerve shot there to pop that red that’s a nice executed shot but a little bit unfortunate when he’s not that red behind those two yellows now will he played a double while he’s bang on it now he could play it straight into the middle and I think he’s going to backing ball there and all of a sudden Craig Wan’s opened up this Frame and if he gets his finish Kristoff will not be a happy man because to be fair that’s been gifted this he’s been gifted this chance by the Frenchman red and black down now don’t know if he if he can pot it cleanly with it will just sort squeeze off that yellow into the corner bag Craig would have already looked at that so I’m presuming we are going to get our answer to that question very soon [Music] that yellow going very close to the black as well could be causing another problem you might even play Red onto red cannon cannon the ball into the corner kick yellow and black all apart sort of like a three to four ball cannon or nothing at all just po it clearly in the corner pocket of course I’m there now running away with myself into all sorts of fantasy pool and or just sit here suspended in animation and talk absolute nonsense it did look it did look a feasible shot though to be fair [Music] did well how about that from Craig woodingham powers that into the corner and the black has just parked itself right next to the cubble with the yellow shunting into the middle bag and he’ll take that to the bank it’s come alive this match F how on Earth is that black ball stopped dead when he’s hit it I mean it’s obviously hit the middle of that yellow just going to Halt this break Jack cuz Kristoff’s got big shot to play here to hold on this yellow oh such a lovely shot was not a lot of room past that eight ball eight ball I believe goes to both Corner Pockets but can take his pick didn’t get enough bottom side on that he tried to come back past it and have black in the same pocket now then well he’s got to keep his head cuz this goes top right almost certain it’s a little bit of a fiddly one as long as it goes past the first yellow I think it definitely goes past the second but the way that he’s approaching this I’m not sure he looks really gutted this makes me think it doesn’t pass he’s had two good looks I’ll tell you now he’s going for it top right in corner he set himself up so this is it very very thin chop in the top right hand corner oh tell you what Tony what a shot oh and it hangs it hangs it’s a brilliant effort unbelievable just caught that jaw at the front wam now going for the safety try and plun the Keo firmly in the grasp of these three yellows at the bot to I’ll tell you what he’s left him a good chance here I don’t love that I don’t love it you don’t love it what the chance no the the choice oh yeah you had to get right behind that yellow on the rail so this is like you strike down slightly with right hand side hit the cushion just before the left hand middle so like the weight the play this is like a swerve shot into there and then you you’ll you’re widen the angle do not want to hit this hard that’s brilliant perfect brilliant from Kristoff lanber so here we go massive moment in the match the intensity of Kristoff lamber oh strating off just look at a split and Craig waringham practically bounces to the table look you can’t believe his luck look at that split so these balls now are there for wardingham to wrap up this match it’s been a great watch once again oh he threw everything at it and he just lost the QQ ball does Craig wam use his extension now surely or in a couple of shots time no you just get this one you just get this one I think you’ve got to trust yourself if your Craig here if you don’t need to take it you’ve got to back yourself to make these Al I think you might have to go crushing first here overhead camera got might just be deceiving me has he come a fraction far I think he’s okay no it was Cushing first controlled it [Music] okay if he misses firstop will have time to race the counter clear Greg has to get [Music] these two balls away from a shot at the eight ball I’ll tell you now I’m using the extension well he has now he he has used it used it on that last shot there he at play cushion first how’s your Q ball it’s okay yeah this is over go it’s been another cracker has been it’s been so watchable this game could take your eyes off it on and Craig waringham knows now another semi-final for Craig waringham his journey is not done yet Kristoff Lamar’s road is halted though what a match up between these two giants you know chippy make making another Deep Run yeah this is going to be a fascinating match of course a race to S there you see the 50 minute match clock so we get this second quarterfinal underway and a great break there from Baton my word he’s parted four Reds it’s just more of the same only more of the same this is exactly what he was doing yesterday potting four Reds I mean just just breaking phenomenally well look at it it’s it’s a great split cuq ball safe and um well I’ve always say I’ve been saying it for a long long time and and Greg’s from down my neck of the woods and such a good player you know his stance cure action I I do bang on about it but it’s just all very textbook and all very smooth and I always feel that he just needs to get over the line at one of these events and I think you’ll win a load of them I really do such a good player as [Music] Greg for the yellows yeah and so often happens when you po large number of one particular ball set you often go for the others because more Choice yeah more Choice more traffic there uh to navigate around well this effectively could be a 12 ball bre breaking dish yeah there see many of them in a in a supermarket [Music] of course we’re going to be showing all four quarterfinals plus the two semis later this evening and the final and the winner will be crowned later tonight Craig wum the only man in the quarters at the moment the winner of this will play Craig later this evening got Josh Kane versus Jack we yep yeah another good one that’s coming after this yeah Josh having a good weekend Greg pretty much starting where he left off yesterday CU under control just let you know what we’re rounding off with our last quarterfinal will be Dean Brennan and Shane Thompson Brenan coming back back against the wall against Luke Gilbert from 64 down earlier today Greg Batton looking in fine fettle in this opening frame simple black ball and it will be the opening frame for the man from [Music] Devon C stays on the edge of the pocket but it’s dry head dry look at the yellows here these are great didn’t feel like he got the the same kind of timing that he’s been getting with that I mean it was a good split but just the power just didn’t seem to to drive through the pack he’ll be annoyed as well cuz what a chance that was to to cement in that lead well this is 4-3 there’s no way chip is missing e and again he’ll be a little bit f up I think inside because of not dishing up the last frame for [Music] just the simple stuff left to do now for chipperfield in seventh frame he quickly removes those yellows and this black 43 still over half the time left as well seven frames played balls moving everywhere he time that he time out so well yeah he didn’t it it looked effortless but he got the balls moving really well around the table it’s probably it’s probably 60 70% of his uh his full power just time the front of the pack and got all the power through the pack which is what Greg was struggling to do earlier that’s a nice opening shot instantly develops one of the the bad yellows he need to set his yellow now up the rail nice and soft sof roll any problems the way that red is parked in between the two yellows this looks good great Pace you can get to this one in the middle now he’s okay yeah he judged the cannon on the red well puts this one to bottom left just rolls the keable down for the ball at the bottom of the table always in mind he needs to PO that last yellow into the middle leave a bit of an angle to push the cuble up past the blue spot so he can get the black in the center right this is needs to be quite [Music] precise H just off straight perfect below it’s ideal perfect that’s where you put it with your hand if you play it so Greg fires back again at Shan chipperfield and we are now back to five each some intriguing affair with 8 minutes and 41 seconds on the clock for a place in tonight’s semi-final baton breaks baton gets a ball he’s not going to go in off he’s going to have first opportunity what’s he got to be left with yellows look absolutely fantastic they’re all there there is a clear path to every single yellow maybe the two at the top of the left hand side of the table they’re going to create the biggest problem for Greg but it’s Pacman with the first sight of the Finish Line [Music] yellows this is where he’s had his mental block of late getting through quarters and into semis [Music] yeah he’s not going to have a better chance to he this the new Greg baton he’s took two months he’s sorted his breakout for the first part of this match let’s say but he’s a new positive self he’s going to he’s come with belief that he can fulfill his dream and win one of these tournaments we know he has the talent he has the ability he has the mindset to knock him balls Under Pressure but getting past that barrier of a latter stages I’ve not seen him play better than this for well a very very long time than he has over the last few matches tough shot here he’s got it the game just doesn’t really deserve a loser does it it’s no they’ve been you know credit to Shawn chipperfield and he’s the match isn’t won yet but Shawn has played some some great stuff out there it’s been a very very good match indeed well Greg baton is going to have this black for a place in the semi-finals no pressure Greg what’s going through his head no pressure this is it sha chipperfield stands up ready for the handshake behind him and he’s done it Greg baton is into the semifinal he beat Shawn chipperfield in a fantastic match 76 and just look at him he’s over the moon he deserves that turn he deserves that fist he’s been absolutely brilliant good quality of ball played all day today every reason to think that’s going to continue here both of the two players came through pretty tight matches in the last 16 deciding frame against Jordan Shepard through 76 wheen 5-4 against Jimmy croxton slow to that match so they didn’t get the full allocation of frames played Jimmy almost had a chance to take things to a six red shootout or to get at least back on level terms at the end but just came up short signs of Jack weand playing well but just could quite get into the Rhythm in that match to play absolutely top draw stuff the whole time match against Jordan was on one of the outer tables did briefly hear a moment of it though as we heard Jordan exclaiming as he fouled in the last frame to give Josh Kane a chance was the frame to get things back on level terms twice a winner at ultimate po this season two imitational events for Josh Kane won the last man standing in remarkable fashion back in the summer only played one match which was the final and so won our most recent Invitational event the peirs cup Josh and K Singleton coming through that a few Mondays ago surprised winners of that event because they finished second in their quarterfinal group but then due to a last minute pull out g a bonus chance in the final which they took very full advantage of different sort of tournament it’s not like Josh would claim that that was anything like winning a pro series but he’s played very well in quite a few Pro Series bit of silverware added on just helps to give you that bit of extra confidence I think we need see these two lining up you’d often pick Jack as The Slight favorite but Josh’s been playing well this weekend and he always gives everything he’s going to have to give everything on this shot this is tough got very very small window to land in and he’s got quite a big angle too he’s come wide that’s no good surprised he didn’t just try and land that that narrow window I know it’s very narrow window but trying to pop that red from from the middle of the table is unless he was just trying to get higher and maybe play a double yeah it was not attractive shot either way but I agree with you cuz if he doesn’t pot this ball the frame is effectively going to be over anyway so to come off the top cushion very hard to imagine how he’s going to PO it from there it’s pretty much worst case scenario the Reds close to being dead is promoted one of the yellows clear opening shot for Jack can’t ask for anything more than this for his first frame it’s over this last 16 match against Jimmy croon he was on the edge of playing really well there’s moments when seemed to come together and there were moments it just didn’t quite gel you felt the table didn’t play quite the same as the outside table that he played one of his earlier matches on for the most part the consistency of table has been one of the biggest steps forward for the ultimate PA era generally but particularly since we got the new r on tables all the tables exactly the same style and model so bar the obvious odd atmospheric thing that might be different with one part of the vend being hotter or colder basically all going to play exactly the same no surprise to see him tearing through these balls Good Start From chat Wayan last quarterfinal du up after this one’s between Shane Thompson and Dean Brennan it’s duw on at 6:30 maybe a few minutes late just probably running a couple of minutes behind and we already know the first semi-final is going to be Craig wardingham who beat Kristoff lamber against Greg baton thrilling previous game against sha cherfi another dry one from Jack wheen but again what’s he left I mean the table’s wide open but I don’t think he’s got an opener yeah that’s pretty crazy isn’t it when you look at these Reds you’d think must be a shot but cast your eye around the table you can’t even really see maybe a oh maybe this yellow goes to middle I did oh that’s a nice little little tickle on the on the two yellows as well just to open them up it’s got some issues still though yeah yellow tied up next to that red isn’t in a good spot yeah and the obvious ball that you want to use to develop it on the bulk line is uh doesn’t go to top left so as you say few things to deal with he’s not got through that shot at [Music] all the shell will still cut but it’s much th actually may may still be okay able to cut this in think it may be thin enough just to to come once across into the into the yellow and red and develop yes just there is he on anything now he’s on the yellow he closest too long that’s about it but if gets that he’s in really good shape yeah I think if this had been a couple of frames ago you would necessarily felt that confident but now he’s settled himself in oh I think he can just get through to the bottom one of the middle that’s helpful definitely helpful yeah didn’t look like he could at all from the first angle we looked at from but that’s helped bit careful here cuz he’s got quite a lot of traffic around the top right that he’s going to be naturally traveling over towards yeah just thinking whether he can just drop it dead weight and holding the bul area for the one to to left Center or does he have to navigate these Reds make scroll off that is perfect yeah he’s going to need to light it with the outcome of that shot and in position now he’s got to leave an angle obviously to come down the table so it needs to be high on the last yellow that was perfect that red was a good guy just need to go around the back of it and naturally have exactly the right angle Acres of space down the right hand side of the table to play into Josh Kane having just looked all at odds with himself and just unable to settle into this match looks like a different player there didn’t time that no I mean you could see both from way it looked and the way it sounded that just wasn’t as good a contact as you sometimes get still come out though well it’s come out better the previous one he timed better but screwed back into the corner pocket that time it’s parted the white in a good spot in the middle of the table the Red’s nicely spread around the place it’s only from a moment where there was a chance he could go 43 behind Josh got left that awkward position he’s right back in with a chance to go a couple of frames ahead he’s a Serial winner as we were mentioning earlier on people that have won as much as that are good at closing out winning positions not somebody that’s going to be afraid of the Finish [Music] Line got back on level terms like Josh is going to have to stage yet another comeback in this [Music] match yeah hard to see this going wrong from here when he’s playing at his best he just looks so controlled in positions like this looks like he knows the exact map in his head it’s quite a nice angle just swing the cube around of two cushions one of the cornerstones of playing position in the game of Paul that two cushion shot way your a lot of margin for error come along a line where if you over hit or under hit the ball you’re still in good shape he hit it perfectly and added another one so the two- frame lead reestablished [Music] the latter of the two options he left a good angle though just St across can let his arm go with this one St through the Gap let his arm go but Don’t Take Your Eye Off it no and that’s can to be all she wrote you think yeah unforced errors from both players but the one from Josh Kane may be the final nail in the coffin it’s been a good performance from Jack Wheeling wasn’t ever really there for Josh no it was a tough evenings work for Josh just couldn’t quite get enough chances a few mes of bad luck and couple of mistakes as well but that was probably later on really once the match was already starting to get away from him it is the final quarterfinal of pro series 9 and it’s a cracking matchup here actually Dean Brandon who’s been one of the players of the year right in the mix for finals this year and he’s in another quarterfinal up against the former number one player Shane Thompson who is having somewhat of a return to form here in pro series 9 he’s been down and out for a little while but the form is St starting to return and he has got his eyes set on a semifinal delighted to say and I think this might be the first time this weekend Tony that it’s I am joined by Tony Holgate on commentary which means I am really looking forward to this and I hope you all are at home as well hello Simon I’ve missed you well I’m looking forward to hearing more about your um your job in the Furniture Factory it was it was a department store come on oh sorry your factory now this promises to be an absolute belter I was going to say cracker but he can’t because he’s the safe crackers playing but we’ve had some great matches today and what when I came in early early this morning the first thing I was early for my match and yourself and the great J Mo were on that fabulous game between Kristoff lambar and Tom cousins and it was just incredible to watch that unfold and I think all day there’s been some intriguing matches I mean it really has been a high standard I don’t know we always say that but we don’t always say that do we cuz we don’t that sometimes it isn’t and and you know we’ve got to call it as it is but what we have seen today has been brilliant um deam was fabulous when he came through earlier on against Luke Gilbert and he had to do it the hard way had to win the last three three racks to get the get the Victory and yeah it really was high quality stuff he’s in with the first opportunity here and this is obviously for a place in the semi-finals against the Wonder Jack wheen yeah that was another one I came early and saw that saw the last three frames of of Dean’s comeback and he poed an incredible last CLE the black as well at the end of it when he’s bridging over the yellow that played it off the off the other yellow in the top Corner great great shot nerves of Steel the man from Northern Ireland and this looks a pretty good start about to happen for Dean perfect little nudge there onto that yellow sure you just dribble the keyable up the table probably play the black into the left hand center and just a start you want in a quarterfinal win any match but when you’re at the business end this really does wonders Fe confidence and down goes the eight ball in is Dean Brennan fires off into the lead here in Blackpool well he’s got a chance and well I going to say it’s a good one if he could see the red to the top left corner I think it would be very good I mean yellows aren’t really a problem so yellows will work here actually he got the center pocket and here’s going to go Reds though there is actually a nice rout out on yellows the yellow in the middle of the table did go right center and red BS yeah my cut feeli straight away was Reds but I actually like the pattern on yellows that from where he was see if he can make it work it’s not exactly where he wanted to be straight away he’s back in an awkward spot have to play a plant yep rather play the one in the center than the long one into the corner that’s that’s pretty good you can now get to the ball over the top corner just looking where he wants to be to play the next one back into the middle this is pretty much a must-win frame really for Shane de’s missing absolutely [Music] nothing he won’t want to drift too far past the straight here no he won’t and that just because of where the eight ball is looks like he’s got quite a bit of angle to hold here he’s actually played a really good shot yeah this is perfect last two balls in the two middles you’ll probably find Dean has a really good break here pops loads of balls and has an easy layout oh Keo was saved it was that is going straight into the corner and look at this again I me we are seeing so many good layouts but look at this keyo it’s going straight towards that corner wow oh that’s going to be sore one for Shane Thompson that really will be I don’t think I can remember a match where we’ve seen so many good layouts normally there’s you know as a professional po player you’ll take one one problem to solve you know and the rest are laid out nicely you take one problem to solve with some good ammunition to solve that problem we we’re seeing frame after frame after frame where there’s nothing to do it’s just it’s just plot your route and well with these two guys that you know they’re not going to make mistakes with these layouts no and it’s just each ball is like a little stepping stone going up the table towards the black on this finish [Music] [Music] so left too much angle on the previous one which means he’s left too much angle again here can he kill the cuq ball probably not so was he looking to come a different way round yeah this one was all born from like you say about three shots ago just dropped a little bit short we’re talking like one in that’s made a difference because every shot since it’s been slightly out that’s really nicely done now he can just run this in the middle as long as he doesn’t flip the eight ball does throw a little bit wider she’s got to be careful it’ll squeak past there I think it’s just thin enough that it just squeaks past yeah comfy com well this black to put de and Brennan on the hill and on the verge of making tonight’s semifinal K ball it’s not been saved this time ball in hand from B flirted with it last time and he had it saved but can Shane Thompson Park these Reds yeah look at Pockets yeah again it’s it’s there’s not really much there’s a touch more than than previous but we really splitting hairs in saying that there’s a chance that P Brenan doesn’t touch the table again so he’s breaking off at 66 here absolutely yeah [Music] so he’s going to go high of the yellow that’s above The Two Reds to play the red into left Center don’t know if he’ll be able to drop that in and play on one of the other Reds to opposite Center looks like it’d have a touch of angle on it that’s the shot that I’m kind of yeah gets that shot right everything should be simple he’s got plenty of angle here so I wonder if he’s going to come downstairs to the red that’s just below the black or come back up again yeah I I didn’t yeah it was just one of those you were never going to get nicely straight on it but I guess you you played it with control little bit surprised didn’t didn’t play for its second shot just in case it didn’t come out perfect but he’ll take this to be honest little bit shorter than he would have wanted but he’s still he’s got clear view of that top right hand corner this is where the controls needed does he pump this round of two cushions or does he try and hold for the red into the right hand center I wouldn’t like trying to hold that on on this table I think I play off the side cushion bottom cushion and try and come out over on the right hand side but I think chane Shane will probably try and hold which he has done he’s played that pretty well he can use the yellow that’s on the rail there as a buffer to hold for the black as well if he cuts this into the middle well that’s one way to get there isn’t it yeah that will work first finish for Shane Thompson Oh I thought it was going to be dry for a second he did find a ball thought every corner pocket felt like it hit jaws and the one in the center he’s got two got one of each yeah red went in fairly early I didn’t see actually and then then the yellow fell in feel he’s got to try to Temp this yellow into the middle bag mistake how big is that going to be that’s the first missed pot in the entire match I think we you know as a as a genuine yeah with you agreed po has he left a yellow one though I mean it’s a thing clip in to the right center is there anything better than that cuz the thing clip into the right center you’re losing the QQ B quite dramatically if the straighter pot goes and happy days this is chance to win the match can you get that one into the top cor goes do it does go this is mind your work time now for Dean Brennan a very excited looking de and Brennan as well he can barely contain himself the the balls are there for him to get himself into tonight’s second semi-final but will there be another twist in the tail well he’s going to have to be going cushion first I think he’s got just enough angle do you yeah I think there’s more angle there than you think I think he can can just use the the left side cushion and and spin it out might even might Screw The Gap you know he’s going cushion first plays it well now he’s happy one more good positional shot get in line on the next one it will be over [Music] that wants to track a bit more yeah straights perfect oh that’s that’s bang on isn’t it no I think he’s a couple of rolls short no I think you can dribble it in just enough I think he’s he’s happy he’s playing it quickly so I think that probably tells us you are right yeah pretty good at this commentating Tony well you know the cake Crusader and all that this has been such a high quality match it really has I know we’ve talked about the layouts and they’ve had some good ones but you’ve still got to play brilliantly to make it the game look as easy as they have one mistake in the whole match and it was Shane Thompson that made it in frame 12 that’s the difference and that sees Declan Brandon move on he’s got Jack wheen for company in the semi-finals of pro series 9 let’s hear from him next so it’s Greg baton getting us underway still a race to seven match clock 50 minutes I’ll tell you what Nick this is going to be some match yeah I agree I agree we’ve seen the best of Greg throughout the day but there’s the uh there’s the chair cut to chair really and uh yeah he’s as I say we’ve seen the we’ve seen the best of Greg throughout the day and uh and yesterday Craig also on some top form as you always expect when you get through to this point in the tournament semifinal time Greg yet to lift a trophy with ultimate pul Craig lifted one just a couple of events ago yeah back in September oh that could have gone wrong he’s landed Plum I say plum I mean it’s it’s not got much of an angle to work with but that could have gone horrible he’s not attempting to go game opting for a containing shot Greg comes to the table well the r will go into that top right and call I’m sure but my word the start of a semi-final that would be some pop to try and pull off he’s gone for it I’ll tell you what what a shot from Greg Batton brilliant well I’ll tell you what I bet Craig W wding wasn’t even thinking he was going to be even even attempt that that’s a brilliant shot from the devonian hails from Teton not that far away from me about an hour and a bit course he’s the last man standing from the southwest of England as we saw Shane Thompson depart not so long ago against a fantastic Dean Brennan who we will see after this in the other semi against Jack we just noticed the bookmaker as I walked through his um you noticed the bookmaker you the queue for about an hour no I just walk past and and saw that Greg is uh outside of the bunch 5 to one see fives yeah the other three are bunched up I think uh I think Dean was leading the way 13 to8 the other two were too to one and Greg’s fives but the way he’s playing I think there’ll be a few people having a little dabble on that gone out there and had 50 p on it but after that shot he’s there fell fell short he’s now 7 to one he’s fallen some way short of where he wanted to be [Music] well another great recovery pot there from Greg baton and that was such a hard cut he he played a few of those in in his quarterfinal and I have today C in it sublimely so he’s going to play this long red into the corner bring the CU off the side rail and try and get on the other red into the center pocket Black’s freely available into the bottom left so if he can get this is he got enough on the Cy ball oh if he has its only just and I think he just can squeak this in it has to be because he wouldn’t be looking he wouldn’t be looking at the angle for the black yeah body language says he’s certainly on it but he could have F to play that quite you know a lot harder the Red’s in so this black well this really would be picking the pocket of Craig ringham it really would because the opening red that Greg puttered was incredible in it goes what a finish there from Baton well three Reds off the break there for Greg Batton now we saw him earlier he poed four Reds off a break and took yellows that was in his previous match I think it might be red this time they’re turning the two yellows are a problem aren’t they he’s got the yellow to the left on the bulk line which doesn’t pass the top left but well he’s perfect already he can take cut the red in the in the top right come around the come around the back of the yellow that’s uh block in the path of the red on the bulk the frame’s dead If he if he puts this and just gets on that the frame’s dead he can even take the one to middle and just screw up inside the yellow and play short position on that red don’t like that because I don’t like that shot because if you are short of that and he’s going to play it and I don’t like it I’d rather go the other way I just wonder if he had he thought he had a little bit too much of angle an angle on the one to the right hand side yeah they’s played it very well he’s perfect but I just wouldn’t I wouldn’t have liked it just for the simple reason if I was short I you mess the finish up but then that’s why I’m sat here with you they’re out there well this is super quick stuff here perfect again fairly rattling through this match yeah just coming up to 15 minutes gone five frames straight black in the caller now for Greg Batton for 4-1 and in it goes and Greg baton now it’s four frames to one against wardingham [Music] great baton now at the table Yeah dry one from Craig this [Music] time big old cluster there top left the Reds nice little tickle but it’s probably I mean it does go now to the to top right two on the on the side cushion do plant I think he’s going to try and cannon that red again he’s looking at screwing back into it used his extension already so again he’s just flicked it but it’s not helping his calls for me I’ll come downstairs now and play this this red at the bottom and try and get on the plant yeah I think you have to and then from from the plant try and leave that uh leave your on that that red below the two yellows place a little bit of right hand Sil just to keep the keyboard That’s Heavy he gone too far have may have to take the um he’s got top right I mean he could also play a plan if that if that red was closer to the pocket yeah he’s looking at that plant now I wondered if he’d take this on well this is tough if he hits this he needs to hit left hand side of the pocket Oh brilliantly shot he’s got quite a big angle on the one to top left it kind of takes him towards the the one on the right hand side he really needs to leave that one on the right hand side where it is because he needs that ball to be able to get back across for the one on the left cushion and he’s slightly hampered if he wasn’t hampered he could just screw on and off that is a brilliant positional shot fantastic from Greg baton got to play this now he’s got to play this a rake of right hand side so you cut the ball up there you playing top and right hand side to spin the CQ ball you need to take it going forwards up towards the Bol line this is tough yeah needs to get it above those yellows he’s going to screw it out he coming through the Gap it’s fairly natural through the Gap yeah oh great shot for me I always used to like play play I’d have snip myself if i’ gone through the Gap I’d have had to go with the side and go forwards absolutely Sublime from Greg baton that was a tough tough finish and in goes to Black B no we are it’s hung again on that in that pocket Greg bat’s going to have to wait the first ball he’s missed in this semi-final yep chance number one goes a straight think he was a if he’s a just a t straight I think he knocks it in but been very gentle with a bit of side there I think he thrown it a little bit so now Craig W him perfect shot [Music] there looking like 65 this is turning into a right nail berer now just wants to pop this sh just run through a little bit here to sling so I got to come down the table perfect might even punch off the side ra no just come straight down so we’re going 65 moram refusing to lay down Bing go to Black and composes himself for one of the most important breaks he’s ever had qall gone in off now then wam has the chance he will feel sick yep straighten off as well for Greg got a feel for him now he’s played absolutely brilliant for me he potting has been out of this world that one red close to the cushion up into that top left the only ball I think I’ve seen him Miss today and it could eventually be cing him a place in the final that just shows you the standard that this match has been played at key to the frame in this next shot yellow to top right dislodge the one on the cushion yeah hits at half ball bumps out lands on the ball at the top yeah and everything’s there was hit it very thin H he’s okay though just a little rout now he didn’t expect to hit that that thin but he’s going to have to clip the one in the middle now and bring the keybo back to where he stood that’s perfect ideally would have like to gone a bit further and play the yellow into the other the one that’s near the rail into the other pocket but doesn’t matter you come back and play both Yow into the top right he’s got the angle that’s absolutely bang on so pot this if gets a key anywhere past through the gap of those two Reds anywhere past that middle blue spot round there whatever happens here will’ll go down as one of the classics fabulous mat Paul brilliant perfect well War has been Flawless yeah absolutely and one miss ball from Greg baton is what is going to cost him this match and your heart goes out to him it really does yeah from 63 63 he’s just incredible one tough Miss poot but that’s the level of pull that we’re playing at it’s been an incredible spectacle but Craig woodingham is now going to have this pretty simple black ball to make it to the final in goes the black and Craig waran fights back from 63 down to defeat Greg baton you’ve got to feel for Greg cuz he has played an absolute phenomenal part in this match but it is Craig wman who will go through right from the beginning really Kristoff lamber and Tom cousins seem to set the standard first thing this morning and it has been amazing ever since and let’s hope these two can keep that streak alive because if they can we’re in for a real treat this evening how did we go about topping that last match so much quality as you say throughout the whole day just feels like right from ball one just everybody’s been on their aame they’ve been lifting each other up it’s been in case one player started well and then the others had to compete man at the table I think it’s got better and better we’ve seen two of his matches in the recent past on this main table played some good stuff against Jimmy croxton but got kind of drawn back into a match in this quarterfinal seem to have that extra gear I think it’s been helpful for Jack as well just have a bit of table time it’s only back from China a few days ago playing a different version of the game needs a bit of time to get used to smaller Q ball get used to these conditions both of these two very close to the top of anyone’s list when you’re looking at picks for the tournament see there great shot from Jack bit unlucky with the outcome open the one pocket up but still got that ball tied up were it not for Tom cousins this would have been the season of Dean Brenan yeah absolutely number two on the rankings but it’s almost like the rest of the players were playing for that number two spot number one wasn’t really available for them yeah he’s had a good year but like all great Sportsman Z Brennan wants to win doesn’t really care if he’s ranked second third fourth fifth he wants trophies that’s what he’s hunting tonight [Music] [Music] [Music] yeah it’s very true what you say there the rankings are of interest to us when we’re analyzing the game but for the players it’s all about the trophies different players obviously have different aspirations coming to the weekend you could see in that last match what it would have meant to Greg baton to make his first pro series final for these two guys they’ve already won ultimate pool titles before so it’s a different thing it’s more just about accumulating more wins CH we’s missed quite a few of the events as well this season yeah I agreed with what Sai said earlier on where you know these two are absolutely in that Circle it’s quite ring fenced really of the complete Elite at this game and if anyone is to take on the immovable object at the moment that feels like like what a shot that is from deck that’s fantastic if anyone’s going to be able to take on the immovable object that’s Tom cousins you know it could be for example Dean Brennan he has got the game to do it can he then go on a run he’s threatened this year you know three games away from having four titles it would be a Tom cousins esque year three matches away so he’s he’s knocking on the door that was a fabulous shot very very clever plan a little bit more work to do but all the hard work has been done by Dean Brennan you’re absolutely right about that group of players the real elite there’s so many players that absolutely could win a title we’ve seen lot of people win titles already and a lot come very close but these two are guys that every time you just have them right at the top of the list I think Dean would admit he probably had a couple of years that wasn’t quite hitting his own high standards but this year really right from the beginning he’s been in top form some good findings against Chris meling another guy that’s very much in that conversation awkward opponent he squeezes the eight ball in but he was very much on it in the course final against Josh Kane 1 through 73 to get his place into the final here oh B made oh another funky looking split yeah would actually helped his case if that Red stayed over the bottom pocket instead of going into it he’s going to prefer the Reds but it’s just whether he can make that plant bottom left that he’s looking at extension it’s just you could take one independently of the other it’s just difficult to land on don’t think I don’t think he’s straight enough on this red to the center looks like he’s got too much angle to almost follow it down the rail if you like and and sneak an angle on the bottom red he could for example play on this one dead straight and he leaves a thin red down the down to the bottom left you can take them one after the other yeah it’s ugly both way it’s a very ugly plant that’s pointing clearly at the kission and the space between them as you say tricky to find the gap between them could try and bump into well it’s going to go for the plant oh amaz he’s taking the plant on this a brave shot played that really well made look a lot easier than it was yeah that was that was not as simple as Dean BR just made that look it was the shot that had opened it up if he went any other way he was going to have to play a couple of good shots that way he just had to commit to that one and then this is his prize this has been really solid stuff hasn’t it every time he’s been at the table by that one positional mistake where he sneaking himself and need the second chance looked pretty deadly think Simon web some did up really well in the in the studio before our semi-finals earlier on that these two players of course Dean being one of them their floor is so high in terms of what they can produce you know their their floor is quite a lot of player ceilings yeah isn’t it just so you know anything above their their lowest game is a really really Elite level and Jack is playing at a really Elite level here but you know he hasn’t got to where he is in this game by not having a huge winning mentality and another dry break this time it swings the Wonders way first chance for wheelen it’s easy to forget just how long he’s been at the top of the game as well we talking about it earlier in commentary trying to remember what year his world title was the answer turn out to be 2015 yeah further back than we were guessing that feels like a long time ago doesn’t it and there’s good reason for that it was yes a decade ago now a lot has happened then individuals lives and in the world since then yeah absolutely got two World doubles titles pretty extensive trophy cabinet at home so key shot coming up just going to make the transition from ball at the top of the table to get in amongst the ones at the bottom it’s pretty good there was a reasonable gap on that side screw over into the red that’s to the right hand side of the table or may just try and find a gap lands nicely on one of the two balls to the right center this Frame should be but complete it does Target that red that was always a good ball to hit full ball cannon would have left him straight on the ball to the right center got a bit more angle than he was wanting aiming really low on the keyboard wants to kill the pace play some good cannons here he made good use of the Reds at this end of the table little bit between shots here if he was bit straighter on the ball to the bottom right corner he’d like to take that first and hold for the one in the middle give simple guaranteed position on the eight ball very thin to play that shot from where he is but if he plays the other ball first that’s also tricky think he’s going to have to play the one to the middle but he’s not going to get perfect shape he’s played that well it’s about as far back as he could risk going to try to make sure he didn’t leave this ball too thin no problem with the pop but just doesn’t want to slip into of position so many Reds around the table he’s a tiny bit short but I think you take it yeah he’s done well actually to kill the pace to that extent I think he was probably concerned he was more likely to overrun than underrun that shot can just clip this in thin one but no problem the Q ball that’s always going safe it’s a good part very very good that’s more like it all these Reds look nice yeah especially if those ones are a plant they’re almost a plant to the top left probably close enough that they could be made even then you got a red so close to them probably easy enough to work with anyway certainly going Reds rather than yellows I wonder if he’s going to bump the eight ball out on this shot though yeah just like that the main camera angle the plant looks dead set from the overhead it’s pointing a bit to the left jaw they’re close enough together this is going to turn into a reverse plant so he going to to the left hand side of the front ball in the end it was fairly comfortable the fact that he was able to get the eight ball out from that previous shot means that it’s in a okay place it’s a little bit Ed but reasonable area to land in yeah so much so that I think he’s giving a little bit of credit to the thought of maybe leaving that red there cuz it’s almost guaranteed position on the eight ball then really so this might be a rout if he goes another way cuz jackon player who likes to sort of take his patn in sections I think there’s a there is some real Merit to leaving that red up at the top of the table especially because he was nicely on the one to the right center wasn’t like it was chasing after something else as you say pretty much guaranteed just has to make these three balls and then meand his way up for the red to give access to the eight ball given where we were a few moments ago when that frame was conceded he’s going to be pretty happy that the fact that he’s playing for a chance at five all just come past this red enough that he can get to the bottom he wouldn’t have been happy if he’ have left himself full ball hampered cuz he wants to be able to screw this ball in let’s move the other Red Dead straight for the corner natural angle just got little angle towards the left just roll this in do think he’s a player that doesn’t allow the problems to play on his mind he sort of looks like he is because he often sits in his chair shaking his head a bit but yeah he does Shake It Off pretty quickly there we are that was the Merit of leaving that ball until last guarantees the position so five all we go one nips one tuck 1320 left on the match clock there is a potential Jac Brandon has played his last shot of this tournament that would be tough given the way this match has played out but that’s very much on the cards if Jack can make a ball here just how good is that break you can’t believe I thought that was dry for a second I think Dean did yeah one shot in very quickly yeah bottom left as we look there it’s the thing with the new tables it’s such a nice effect but when you have that little audio queue he’s you sort of learned to rely on it over the years haven’t you don’t be wrong I’m sure there’s plenty of you know spouses and parents up and down the country who’ve got one of these in the house and delighted that it’s so much quieter but yeah won’t someone think of the players who are listening out for a ball chance to win it for Jack wheelan and that is a lovely first shot potted it which he been happy enough with as well yeah it’s actually awkward enough the fact that he can’t take it next and he just has to factor that in now shouldn’t be a problem if he allows it to be or he can take it next that helps a lot basically just wants the key back to pretty much where he started that shot from barring anything silly this should be it we get a better chance for sure well that’s a friendly nudge he’d still have been on the one to the left either way but now one a choice of balls see quick the shot clock catches up with you playing this 15sec portion nothing really to think about here though just dot to dot for these last [Music] three it’s a reasonable Gap even though those yellows are sort of in play you shouldn’t have any trouble finding the gap between them yeah this is over Dean Brandon in a case of what might have been but Jack wheel is going to reel off four in a row and take his place in the final that’s some performance from Jack will isn’t it facing adversity 53 down when he really shouldn’t have been 5-3 down it’s the final and it is Craig woodingham against Jack wheen two absolutely heavyweight big hitters in the game of English Po and this one could be an absolute belter and the highest quality Simon web Mark Shepard with you on commentary for this match and Mark I had my say in the in the studio area we’ve got there what how what’s your take on this this final I mean it’s been such a high quality day I mean if you’re going to talk about sort of Destiny it almost feels like it has to be a jack wheel and I don’t say that any reflection on who’s the better player but it just feels like every match he looked like he might have a problem he’s found a way through see the fact that he’s not going to be playing on the tour next year it almost feels like a farewell March for him but I mean take nothing away from Craig waringham this is exact carbon copy of two months ago when we were here in September first event he got through to the final which he then went on to win different situation there he was playing Mark Fleming who’d done unbelievably well to get through to the final but was a an opponent that hadn’t won multiple turs titles before so it was a kind of big moment Jack wheel’s obviously a different kettle of fish it’s actually hard to I mean that previous final that Craig won he was undoubtedly the favorite this time around it’s hard to hard to say which one of them is the favorite this is about as even as it gets yeah it really is I mean both such good players popular guys easy to root for either of them either would be a deserved winner the runs they’ve had to get through to the final I mean Craig War looked like he was out of it against Greg baton CH Wheeling L like he was out of it against Dean Brenan at one stage Craig’s taking these nicely now just going to find the Gap below the yellow and the eight ball through to the red bottom left which will be his last ball pretty smooth start this yeah that’s the way Wood plays isn’t it just smooth effortless style as you were saying beforehand he plays the game the right way and he approaches tournaments you know like that first year when he didn’t take the pro status he just knuckled down and won some events and that’s sort of the way he deals with thing I think he might have the best temperament in the game I I really do oh that’s a good break well as he hit that now it’s time to get going for Jack wheen controls the qo beautifully tricky that top right hand corner tricky it’s the one over the pocket isn’t as big a problem as the two to the left hand side of it think you can get to the to the potting angle of the one that’s over the pocket if not you’re going to have to find a clever way of dealing with it probably playing the cube B into it or a three ball plant four ball plant yeah I mean the fourball plant’s tempting the red that’s closest to the yellow you’re not quite sure where it’s going to end off it can end up jammed in the pocket yeah that’s good good shot knew knew the yellow he was playing was coming away and was playing on the other one that’s left up there as clever dealt with his problem yeah and he’s also dealt with it in a way where he didn’t rely on having to be able to use that pocket if it did stay blocked which it has this is exactly what happened in the semi-final against Dean brandan where Dean was ahead at one stage there was in a bizarre interlude where they both made some very careless mistakes Jack ended up conceding a frame having missed the black but then immediately regrouped and just played really well it’s very much the same here he’s been frozen away from the table but don’t seem to impact at his own level well you obviously hope that the final is going to be high standard you expect it to be but could not have been any higher than these two have put on so far yeah how about the this for straight finishes from the break gets his first great explosion but this time he loses the QQ ball I’m not sure if that was directly there or it got a little bump let’s have another look it looked direct actually but it might have just come off the kind of squeezed off that front ball either way it doesn’t make a difference how it got there it has gone there and it’s keep on one hand anywhere behind the the brake line in the kitchen as they say in America yellow yellow off red or yellow off yellow looks to be the shot always knew playing it like that the red was going to jam in the pocket so play it firmly soly yellow came out and this is a great chance to really build momentum up four frame lead would be quite over the winning line but not a whole lot away from it he’d have the next break as well essentially be two two braks of serve in front really will feel like it’s in his own hands two more brake clearances and he wins forget about the score line that was nice landing dead straight on that ball made so much easier just get quite clean out of that area fair bit of angle but doesn’t really matter black is accessible from a wide area over the side of the table so Craig wam four frames to the good now oh not again he going to stay on the table but thought that was going to be a disaster for him with a cuq ball right up the middle of the table as well yeah that would have been crazy enough the way hit that that’s much more like he breaks when he’s playing well he got the key ball in a dead straight line down the middle of the table I don’t think he’s got opening ball other than the plant and this is high tariff play Red off red or play the plant red off red slightly easier way round now it’s a good chance if he can land pretty sure the two together in the middle of the table goes to the bottom left and straight in there is frame over he’s come a little bit too far down the table he’s still got other ways [Music] around has to move balls now yeah it wasn’t a great angle there it did quite well to miss the yellow but he never going to be able to get perfectly on this red it’s not a bad angle here he should be able to at least use the Red’s hitting to hold position for the other one at this end of the table if he needs it if he plays this natural comes on and off the top cushion comes down sort of in between the two yellows then he’s going to leave three C B on the red which means he has to play around with the yellows on the left hand side of the table below the eight ball that’s what he was just trying to work out what’s the best thing to do here he naturally wants to take the one at the top of the table cuz the one at the bottom in his words would be his eight ball but you got to try in some way swing it around nearer the straight it looks easy it’s easy to connect The Two Reds but could just get a little bit awkward onto the eightball that’s why he’s trying to swing it round two cushions but he’s overdone this significantly a little bit wild really yeah he got a bit caught in two minds and the clock started counting down so had to commit to the shot be very disappointed not to have a straight po at this yeah I still thought he’d go go for the Gap and play the tough positional shot off this red it wouldn’t have been that tough plenty of margin to get on the a he’s still going to win the rack that’s an excellent double yeah well it sort of worked out better in the here the difficult double but guarantees position obviously not as played to start with but take that hampered queuing and opens the bank lovely shot all comes down to this Q ball is okay and he’s made a ball and the Chance is good it’s not great it’s just good it’s a deciding frame of course it’s not great there’s always got to be a bit of drum of course if he goes Reds the red at the bottom is is horrible so I expect him to go yellows and he is yellows sort of especially if the yellow goes right center and the fact he’s played that shot that way tells me it probably does yellows actually have a rout he actually just the one below the red that he has to contend with and you can get to the potting angle so it’s as good as you could hope for for in a deciding frame I guess as now can you hold your hold your nerve 325 left it’s not a factor 15 seconds a shot [Music] is and the fact that he was 74 up as a factor although as we’ve said repeatedly he’s not somebody to let those kind of things dwell in his mind he landed nicely on the difficult ball can he bump the other one into play at the same time I think he tried to I think he was trying to go off the cushion and into the yellow pop that over the middle and and stay on the yellow to bottom right and he slid by it now he might have to back himself just to queue this one in he’s a player that backs his potting that is what he has here and then it goes now it’s in his hands just have to be careful with this one but the prize on offer is the title cuz the eight ball is [Music] waiting and now he knows now he can celebrate the simplest of eight balls and Craig waram is a Pro Series champion once again he had to wait a long time to win his first pro series title the second one comes along just a couple of tournaments later brilliant stuff brilliant final and Craig warham is the champion again Mark that is a brilliant final full of drama and full of quality had a little bit of everything your ultimate pull pro series 9 Champion for 20124 the silver sniper here is Craig waringham [Applause]
